We always like to be adventurous and choose local dives over chains when we travel so we thought we'd give it a shot. Staff was nice but a bit slow. Very much a local authentic dive. Food was good but not great. Tacos were good but don't come with anything on the side. Byob and no fountain drinks. Ambiance - 2 Stars: Its not pretty in here. Mirrors on the walls, ceiling tiles are old, floors are old, tables are covered with those foamy plasticy table cloths, tables rock around. Service - 2 Stars: Service is just not good here. You need to be patient and expect a decent amount of waiting for your server to come back to your table. Usually only 1 or 2 servers even on weekend nights. Food - 4 Stars: Solid food. If you can get by the fact that this place is a total dive, and the service is awful - You'll be sure to enjoy some seriously delicious and mostly authentic Mexican cuisine. The Molcajete is a must, and it's just about the only thing I order every time I come. It's the most expensive item on the menu, but can easily feed 2 normal eaters - or one seriously hungry hombre. Filled with several different types of meat, queso, jalepenos, onions, and a delicious tomato based sauce, served with fresh tortillas. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Again, expect a wait. This comes straight out of the oven served in a Molcajete (like a mortar bowl), and will take around 30 minutes to prepare. Other items on the menu are pretty decent as well. We have tried several other things, and they're pretty good as well. Molcajete is by far the most flavorful thing at the restaurant. A few good dessert items, and a tasty Horchata. Salsas and Guacamole are nice. Cost - 5 Stars: This place is definitely a good bang for your buck. Unfortunately I have to give Rincon Tarasco 3 stars due to the lack of service and ambiance. But like I mentioned, if you can get over these two things - you're sure to have a good meal. It's BYO, so bring whatever you want to drink and forget about the wait. Best burritos in town without a doubt! Freshest ingredients, best salsa in the world (I usually live in Los Angeles, trust me), I'm vegan and the wait staff is always so accomadating and friendly! Great selection of drinks, big menu. Amazing fresh guac. I love the wet burritos. Everything is around $10 and huge portions. Such great staff, most authentic Mexican food I've found in the area, great for families and dates and meat eaters and vegetarians alike! More people need to know about this place!! read more

We absolutely LOVE El Tarasco! My husband has always loved authentic Mexican food, and when he found El Tarasco he was thrilled -- their food is excellent and portions are great. All of our kids love this place too, and often go themselves. Highly recommend anyone in search of really good, authentic Mexican to give them a try. I came here to finally experience mexican cuisine that wasn't from an american chain. Small restaurant, small seating, small bathroom(and accordingly small sinks). I was pretty excited about this place because it's as local as it gets. But then the food came out. I tried the pork tamale, not my thing. The entrees were the burrito llegal, chicken fajitas, and enchilada mole(?). The fajitas were salty salty and the tortillas were tiny and i think made of corn. Not really my thing. The enchiladas were ok at best. I was waiting to be blown away by the rice and refried beans but I wasn't. The only decent thing we had was the burrito. It is huge. The steak in it was good and overall it seemed like an ideal dinner. I couldn't tell you what 80% of the menu is made of cuz my mexican food fix is fajita mondays at chili's. This is my go to Mexican restaurant! The owner is very friendly as well as all of the staff. The food is as authentic as it gets. I keep going back to this place because they have so many good choices. They lure you in with free handmade salsa and tortilla chips. My favorite meal is the Molcajete, a lava pot filled with different meats and cheese with a perfectly balanced array of spices. Wash it down with a good beer, or the sweetened rice milk drink who's name escapes me. While they do not serve alcohol, it is BYOB. And with victory right down the street you have no excuse not to have great beer with your meal. I highly recommend Rincon Tarasco! read more

Food quality, consistency , and customer service has gone WAY down!!! My husband and I normally get take out and up until about a year ago rarely had problems. Now , the food is dry and they never get it right! Last night was yet another example of their carelessness! I ordered a STEAK quesadilla and when we got it home , it was a dry CHEESE one instead! We went here for dinner. Our friends who live in Downingtown wanted to try it so we made the trip down. Needless to say it wasnt worth the trip. The interior looks very gaudy and the AC units in the windows were distracting. The tables have plastic on them looking like a 90yr old woman's house. We started off with their salsa and chips, and got some guacamole. The salsa was ok but a bit watery. The guac was chunky and looked more like a salsa than a guacamole. It wasnt that hot and we didnt even end up finishing it. The chips were decent but thick and very crunchy. I had the enchiladas. 2 cheese and 2 chicken, that also came with rice on the side. The enchiladas were small and had absolutely no sauce on them. Looks like they were cooked earlier and just heated up drying the sauce up. They covered them in lettuce and sour cream so you could barely see what you were eating. Others in our party had fajitas and tacos. They said their meals were ok but nothing you couldn't make at home. Our waitress was nice and obviously being a family business was a daughter. She was very young and really inexperienced. The owners should have atleast trained her before putting her on the floor. Overall the food was average and the service was subpar. That is probably why there was no one there on a saturday night at 7pm. I doubt this place will make it. I would hit up On the Boarder in Exton before going to Rincon again. read more

I ordered a Al Pastor taco salad. No where on the menu online does it say that it has beans. I can't eat the beans because they make me sick. So you can imagine how the rest of my day went. The Al Pastor meat was bland. I will never order this from here again. I will stick to my normal restaurant where everything is included in the menu and I can delete from my order what I don't want. They were willing to make it again but I'm at home recuperating from surgery so I wasn't able to get another. This is a small family-owned BYOB Mexican restaurant. The food is superior to anything you'll find in your typical Azteca munchery. Everything is made to order, even the Guacamole, so it's fresh and delicious. You can see the kitchen staff working their buns off from the front counter. Had to hunt down the waitress for refills, had to remind waitress to bring a missing part of our order, forgot sweetener for the iced tea, etc. Aside from ordering and food delivery, waitress was never present and never stopped by. Dining room is small, about 10 tables more or less. Atmosphere is non-existent. Food was authentic, fantastic and inexpensive. The guacamole is unique, unlike any other place I've been too. It's almost like an avacado-tomato-onion salsa -- and it's excellent on the thick, homemade corn tortilla chips. Tacos are available in multiple styles, including the the traditional cilantro, onion and lime version on a corn tortilla. Terrific Mexican food, but agree with the others that the service and atmosphere are severely lacking. That being said, I'll be going back again and again since the food is so good with the hopes that if they make enough money they will replace the shiny brass ceiling and lights from the 80s, have someone with construction skills work their magic on the walls and floor, and have someone train their waitstaff on some basic serving skills. Probably the best Mexican food I've had in the area. Very well priced. Atmosphere is pretty much nonexistent. Food is good, but not great (I've definitely had better, but probably not in this area). As others noted, the guacamole is chunky, more of a rustic styling compared to what most people are used to. I liked it, but not sure that most of the others I was with felt the same. I've been wanting to try this place for a while buy my family isn't as big into the Mexican food as I am so I didn't have the opportunity until the other day when I thought "I should pick it up!" That's what I did, I just got enchiladas, which comes with 4 (beef, chicken or cheese but only one kind can be chosen which was a bummer, I'd like to have mixed it up a bit), rice and beans. Since I'm not a beans fan, I told them to hold the beans. I think I was their first order of the day and other reviewers were right, quickness is not their strong suit although they were true to what they quoted at 15 minutes. The enchiladas were okay - and were more expensive than I would have thought considering they were just okay. I like my enchilada's a little saucy and although the tortilla had been dredged in the sauce, they had absorbed it all up and there was no extra. The rice was great and I needed to finish it. All in all it was okay. The girl who waited on me was okay but not very accommodating. I asked for a take-out menu (as I had ordered on the phone with no real knowledge of their menu) but was told they had run out. No other option. Unfortunately, after providing our $25 certificate, we received a bill with no itemized items that was above and beyond what we spent. After eight years of living in MA, I move to PA with the hope of finding better food from south of the US border. Rincon Tarasco offers hope that PA will show an improvement. The interior is not much to look at but it is the food that counts. I had tacos lengua -- something you will never find at Chipotle. If you don't know spanish, lengua is beef tongue. Yes, tongue. I grew up with it cooked eastern European style -- boiled. After it is cooked, in Latin American countries, it is often sautéed or grilled. The tacos lengua at Rincon were fabulous. I love this place. I work nearby, so I order in advance as it does take a little time. I used to go to Don Gabriel in West Chester, but they changed ownership and it sucks now. Rincon Tarasco does great authentic Mexican and the beef tongue tacos are to die for. The price is right, too. As with any good, cheap, authentic Mexican joint, the atmosphere is not why you go.
