I like the food here, particularly the tamales- but they need more variety of tamales. I really liked the big burrito which I usually don't order burritos very often. Very good! Superb Mexican food. Since they have opened, the Mexican Magician has continued to serve some of the best Mexican food I have ever tested. At one point my colleagues and I went there for lunch 40+ consecutive weeks. Collectively, we have tried just about everything on the menu and have never left disappointed. My favorite dishes are as follows(in no particular order). Chimichanga(chicken) Molcajete Torta Cubana Chicken or Chorizo Enchiladas Chorizo or conchinita gorditas. There aren't a great many other options in the area for decent Mexican cuisine, and while you're not likely to host a big event inside Rincon Tarasco, the food is definitely worth making the trip, either for take-out or eating in. The salsa and chips that you're provided with before even ordering are quite good and rival most of what you'd get at a similar restaurant. Having eaten there a few times now, I can say that the entrees I have tried (enchiladas, burrito, and chile relleno) are all above average for this area. You don't have to travel halfway to West Chester or further for decent Mexican food. Be aware, though, that dining on site may not be for you. It's very close quarters, and I imagine that if it were full of diners it would get quite noisy. In addition, the décor is a bit garish, and you'll have to park across the street (or further away if its full up) so its not the most easily accessible place. However, if you want a decent Mexican, or Mexican-inspired, meal there are options for various tastes (authentic, or more vanilla) and reasonable prices across the board. read more

My boyfriend and I went to dinner tonight and were very disappointed. We have gone here other times and had a great meal. Tonight, we sent back a dish twice and it was still not correct. He ordered a burrito with very simple instruction to leave out the lettuce, tomato and onion. The first time it came loaded with all three. The waitress took the order again, even asked me for confirmation. She even laid the order on the table for us to review it! It clearly said no pico, lettuce or onion! The second burrito came out loaded with lettuce! She never came back to the table to see if everything was ok. She was not friendly and did not seem to care whether we got what we asked for. Very good fresh and authentic Mexican food with good service. This place has been under new management for over a year and its performance has soared. Last night we had the chunky guacamole nachos, the Mexican vegetarian sandwich and enchiladas with mole sauce. With drinks the bill was less than $30! What's there not to like? I lived in Texas most of my life and this place brings back fond memories of little family owned restaurants that have become an endangered species there. The food is fresh and portions are generous. The Décor is spare, but that keeps the prices down I guess. No liquor license here. The heat isn't great, so bring a sweater in the winter or you'll be wearing your coat. read more

Cute spot in Downingtown! This is a very small restaurant that serves good, authentic Mexican cuisine. There is not a whole lot of seating, but when I went for lunch it wasn't too busy. You get complimentary chips when you arrive, which are very good. We ordered guacamole for the table. It was made fresh and reasonably priced opposed to many other Mexican restaurants. I had the taco salad with carne al pastor. The meat was delicious, otherwise it was a pretty standard taco salad. Our service was great! read more

Delicious authentic Mexican cuisine - I highly recommend the "Molcajete," but beware it is a large portion and could be shared by 2-4 people as a side or appetizer. Great salsa and fresh guacamole. I was the only one there-it was about 2PM on a Sunday! I was hoping they had Chili Colorado, but was slightly disappointed that they didn't. The owner waited on me; he was very friendly. I had the Plato de carne(my meat choice was Cochinita, which is a slow-cooked pork in red chili marinade); it was excellent. The tortillas with the meal were great, too. The chips with salsa served before the meal have to be the best! I listened to Mexican music, which was nice! It was clean, but the atmosphere wasn't the greatest(it's pretty small). Food is excellent. Service is very inconsistent. I only got take-out once, and they forgot about the order, and I sat waiting for another 30 minutes - total of an hour to get the food. Also, sit-down service... it's ok to have trainee waiters, but don't leave them on their own to wait on a table of 8! That was really messed up. They advertise as "Authentic Mexican Food"....I have been to Mexico many times & lived in San Diego for 16 years! This food was terrible! The salsa was too runny and wouldn't stay on the chips. The chicken Enchiladas were so skinny and hardly any chicken inside and DRY! I took the runny salsa and poured it on the enchiladas to make them edible! They served lettuce and tomatoes & a thin hair size strip of sour cream on top of the enchiladas....instead of putting it on the side! The refried beans were a runny liquid & the rice was tasteless. The food was not hot or even warm! The server was spraying the table next to us with offensive Clorox. We had to leave because of the smell of the Clorox. Our first & last visit to this place! My husband and I have been going to this restaurant since it opened a few years ago. In the beginning the food was excellent fresh authentic Mexican food. The last few times we have gone (since January 2012) we have left disappointed and unimpressed. I am not sure if the chef have changed or their techniques. The kicker was our take-out from last night.. All of our meals had dry, burnt and flavorless meat. The taco tortillas were dry appeared to be stale and the meat was dry and flavorless. The enchilada had dried up sauce on it and the meat inside was not edible it was overcooked, burnt and disgusting. The burrito looked like it was thrown together by someone who cared less about what they were doing by throwing dry meat in with other old ingredients. The flautas were overcooked to the point that they were inedible. To add insult to injury we were told it would be ready in 30 minutes we got there after 25-30 minutes and had to wait an additional 45 minutes with no apology for the delay. It appears that most of the meals were cooked days ago and possibly reheated once we got there for the pick-up. it's really sad I honestly loved going here for a laid back dinner.. never again. read more

My husband is from Colorado and the only Mexican restaurant around us besides Taco Bell is On The Border. We go to Colorado once a year to visit his family and totally pig out on all the Mexican food we can get while there, probably gaining 10 to 20 pounds. We came across this place about 4 years ago and had had a great meal. We got busy with our lives and forgot about the place and continued to frequent On The Border. It is my husbands birthday, as the custom in our family we pick a place we would like to have our birthday dinner or something they want Mom to cook. My husband chose to Rincon Tarasco. So Finally, lastnight we made it back to this great place for dinner and we took the kids with us. My kids hadn't had authentic Mexican ever in there lives. They only knew On The Border, Taco Bell and my husbands homemade enchiladad's (which are awesome!). They got boring quesadilla's but tried our meals. They were hooked! We made a pact that we would never go to On The Border again for dinner and from now on when we want Mexican we will be going to Rincon Tarasco! read more
