I don't know about this place. I ordered a salad and the "Surf & Turf" meal. The waiter acted a bit strange about this combo, so I asked what he suggested, he seemed more confused. ANYWHO, so the meat must have been BROILED cause it was a little "LITE SKIN" and really uncooked. Had to get a "REDO" on that. The place doesn't seem so bad. May 4,2025: They have changed their cheese to be queso fresco. If you know, this cheese is a dramatic change to what they had before. This changes the restaurant's experience entirely if you order pupusas. We ordered soup, and it was pure lemon flavor. This isn't a one time thing, unfortunately they did the queso fresco replacement about 2 weeks ago or earlier. I'm hoping that this changes very soon but for now, I will no longer be ordering from the restaurant I had been advertising for years. read more

Placed an order today for 12 popusas, came to pick them up at The time the lady had Said they would be ready, as soon as I told them I had a to-go order the Ladies looked very shady, after repeating my order to 2 ladies, a different one came up and said, that that order had been picked up by some man .. picking up an order under my name, they did't offer to make it or gave a sincere apology, .. been coming here for 20 years and won't be coming back .. i will rather give my business to someone else who appreciates their customers. read more

my family and I recently moved to San Pablo. I found this place to be one of the best place around my neighborhood so far that has the best pupusas. My family and I come here to enjoy their delicious pupusas. I really do not know what happen today, I've been trying to order pupusas since 4:30pm and they hang up on me, called them back and having trouble hearing them. Perhaps their phone is not working. I can't think on other explanation bc I've order before over the phone and they've been so kind to me and bring me the food out to my car when I pick my order bc of my baby and 2 years old kid. Terrible service never returning. The outdoor dining area is filthy. The waitress "cleaned" the table but there was layers of dirt and grime on the table. Ordered our meal. waitress came out with meal. never checked on us again. the pupusas de frijoles con queso had no beans in them just cheese and maybe half a teaspoon of beans. basically cheese pupusas. Last but not least since the waitress never came out to check on us. We had to take our leftovers back inside to ask for to go boxes. Terrible service. Pupusas were a disgrace. This used to be my go to spot for pupusas and Salvadoran comfort food. I don't know if It's because I've tried other spots or because something's changed, but I've grown increasingly disappointed with my orders here for a while now. My most recent order was okay. My partner who is not Salvadoran was satisfied but I am Salvadoran and know better. The filling of the pastelitos was good but the outside wasn't as crispy as I would've liked. The masa (dough) for the pupusas needed more love (read flavorless). The fillings were good but I couldn't tell which ones had and didn't have chicharron (pork) which means they could've definitely used more. The horchata satisfied a craving but was a little on watery side. This place has both hit and missed the mark on several occasions. Worth trying and comparing it for yourself. There are like 6 pupuserias around here within like a 3 mile radius. read more

Don't get yo come here often as I live 45 minutes away. I ordered 2 sopa de Res, and 1 order of plátanos fritos con crema y frijoles, 2 pupusas revueltas and those were good. I also ordered 2 cheese and loroco pupusas and those were terrible. Looks like they put something red in the cheese, maybe tomato sauce or something but they were not any good. I know not to buy those there again. I wish they would answer their phones promptly. It took a long time to get someone on the phone to place an order. I live 45 minutes away so I was making this trip just to buy food here. They need someone to just answer calls and take orders because they are quite busy. read more

This place is OK. The service is OK. But, there is the issue about the owner and how she treats her employees. And that has honestly put a bad taste in my mouth. The pupusas are good, the aguafrescas are good too, but there were a few things I didn't like. I went with some friends (both Salvadorian) for pupusas and they ordered them extra crispy (mas duro). I asked for the same and they were great. But when I went to back by myself and asked for the same, they looked at me like they didn't understand what I said and they came out normal. Good food, super slow service. There was only one table ahead of us but we still waited for about half hour for a burrito and plate. The waitress accidentally charged my card $48 instead of $24 but she reversed the charge and put the correct amount. Service was slow. Food was over seasoned. I ordered mar y Tierra. Steak, shrimp, and beans were super salty. To top things off at the end there was a 15% service fee added to the check. When I asked the waitress what was that fee for, she hesitated and pretended to go inside to ask. I waited 10 minutes for her and when I looked inside she was mopping! I came here for pupusas, but came out disappointed. For years, the restaurant has existed there, just a five minute walk away from home, and I barely decided to try the place recently. I don't really like how service is handled here -- my to go order took a little over 30 min when I only ordered 3 pupusas. I noticed that those who came to the restaurant for dine in received their meals long before I did, which made me realize it wasn't even worth it to order in the first place... I could've driven to another establishment, order, and receive my pupusas is less time than I had spent waiting at El Tazumal. I don't plan on coming back here anytime soon, to be honest. It would take some heavy effort to convince me to try again otherwise. read more

This place has great food, but only when I get it to-go. I ate here about a week ago and did not have a pleasant experience. The service was so bad even though there was one server but only 3 tables to attend. Not once did he ask me if I needed anything nor did he offer a to-go container or even brought me the check. They asked if I was picking up I said no I wanted to order they told me I have to call in the order otherwise they will help not help me. The lady told me to got outside call and then get my order. As I called from outside of the restaurant they looked at me and then answered my call as they clearly saw me calling them. told me the wait would be 20 minutes.
