I just want to say how neat, clean, and presentable everything always is. Although the lines can sometimes be long, they move very quickly, so don't let that discourage you. The food is authentic, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully displayed. The kitchen manager she is always moving around, making sure everything is running smoothly and that the quality remains excellent. They offer a large selection of Hispanic themed groceries. We get papusas with corn tortillas and a variety of sauces to put on them to go. They are cooked fresh to order and are out of this world. This is about a food product sold at the Centromericanos aisle. The product is PINOL Centroamericano (Ground Corn), which it isn't. This product is Imported and Distributed by: Doña Luisa Food, Inc. AND sold by Las Monatañas Supermarket. The PINOL does not taste nor looks like a Pinol is supposed to according to the claim of "Pinol Centroamericano". Today, I experienced a distressing incident at a restaurant where I attempted to place a to-go order. Despite being bilingual and of Mexican descent, I was treated differently because I spoke English. Due to the stress of caring for a sick son, I was somewhat distracted. After paying for my order, I briefly stepped away to retrieve rice pudding and salsa, then encountered a nephew and placed my food next to the items I had already paid for. In my haste, I inadvertently took everything and exited the store, only to be confronted by the entire staff, who alleged that I had not paid for the pudding. I produced my receipt, which confirmed their suspicion, and returned the pudding. However, the security guard had already blocked my vehicle and was not permitting me to leave. I attempted to reverse, but he jumped onto the hood of my car. Eventually, he disembarked, and I was allowed to depart. Upon reviewing my receipt, I discovered that I had been charged for sodas that were not provided. I returned to the restaurant to collect the sodas and informed security that their actions were unjustified. I am currently consulting with an attorney regarding my rights, as I believe I was a victim of assault, battery, false imprisonment, and property damage. What happened to me is crazy today I went in to order my food to go. First of all I get treated her different because I speak English. I am Mexican I also speak Spanish and understand. Today like the food that's why I go back but I'm done. I been under stress due to a sick son. Did you know you can get desayunó here?? I got a breakfast burrito with chorizo and an horchata and stole some of my boyfriend's chocolate champurrado... pure HEAVEN. And there's also a seating area right around from where you order so you can enjoy eating before you get your energy back to go shop! It's Halloweentime so everything is themed in black and orange and purple, including the chips and conchas. I love the holiday spirit here! I am upset, utterly upset as I was paying for my groceries. The security guard decides to accuse us of not paying for one sandwich 16 dollar sandwich! He claimed that me and my family had not paid for it and then asked me for our receipt, we gave them a receipt that the cashier provided for us. He told us that it was the wrong receipt and these are not the receipt that the client is supposed to have an instead of the cashier is supposed to have. He then got the cashier and she had also said that we had paid for all of our groceries and he kept Dragging it by saying that we hadn't until the manager had come and did reassure that we played it for all of the groceries. First time in this store and I was impressed. There were employees all around to assist when needed. I just came back from Mexico, so I loved being able to practice my Spanish. The produce looked super colorful and delicious! They had a hot food area with a lot of menu items. Just get in line, place your order and wait for it. I went to pick up some Flor de Jamaica or loose leaf Hibiscus tea. I had some great tea in Mexico and wanted to recreate it. Now, that I've seen what's inside of this store I will definitely return. It's Like A Candy Store! LasMontanas always has been one of my favorite places for grocery shopping. Its by far the best Mexican grocery store in the West Contra Costa County. So clean and organized. Every aisle is in order. So many options to choose from for chips and salsas, taco meats, and produce, I feel like a kid in the candy store whenever I visit Las Montanas. I want to buy every taco meats and taste every salsa options.They also have prepared hot food to choose from: Papusas, tamales, enchiladas and so on. We went to the store for a Rosca de Reyes. First impressions: plenty of parking, store was clean, and everyone was wearing masks. Customer service: We were approached by several employees to see if we needed help. Rosca de Reyes: Decent looking roscas for reasonable prices. Not the cheapest of Supermarkets but it's got everything Latinx you'll need and want if you're FirstGen living in the Richmond area away from home and on your own. They also serve fresh food (right when you walk in) and have come in clutch when I've needed to cater something last minute (beans, rice and tamales). The beans are mouth watering and frankly I've made the trip just for them. Also now that I don't live on a street that isn't on a street corn seller's route, they've helped satisfy cravings for elotes and raspas/minutas/piraguas. This is where I've come for fresh bread and tortillas. Though I imagine folks speak English, I think I've only ever spoken Spanish when shopping here. Parking in the actual lot can be tricky but I always find parking on the side of the building and prefer it to the bottle neck that happens in the lot. The city building next door also has EV chargers that I sometimes take advantage of when needing to kill two birds with one stone (be sure to check the times though). read more

We've come here like forever. We love grabbing the agua frescas, my favorite is strawberry or watermelon. We love going all the way to the back of the store to grab marinated chicken (pollo asado) to grill. I also stop at the bakery on the right side of the story to pick up tres Leche cakes, they are delicious. But they have other tasty desserts like flan, cheesecake and cookies. I love their fresh pink cookies and the ones with the sprinkles. But I especially love their hot food section in front of the store to the left. We've ordered food here many times for parties: rice and beans, grilled chicken, shredded pork and everyone could make their own tacos. The first time she overfilled the coffee and when she placed the lid the coffee spilled and she still gave it to me dirty, when I asked her to please switch the cup she looked so upset . I doubt if I've ever seen a Spanish or Mexican or even American supermarket run like Las Montañas. There is pride in ownership and the aisles of produce and canned goods, etc. look super attended to. The cans are all displayed in neat stacks and rows with labels facing forward. It looks like they used rulers. Where do you ever see that?! Produce is beautifully displayed in high, straight piles. Everything looks fresh. Similarly, the butcher meat and fish monger displays are all lined up neat and tidy. Have you ever seen square steaks and oxtails, and tidy rows of ground beef? Marie Kondo must have been here! The butcher we normally see there is always friendly and helpful. I've eaten at the taqueria several times. Nothing jumps out as special, maybe the variety of ceviche, but it's a quick cheap Mexican take-out (or eat at a few tables) lunch. Produce and meat prices are inexpensive compared to other places, and I gladly skip the mainline supermarkets and head here when I'm in town. read more

Absolutely disgusting. I went in last week to get some masa for some tortillas. There was a smell of rotten chicken that permeated the store. Something must have spilled, not been cleaned up, gone bad. It started in the produce section and followed me around. I got the masa because it was produced in Oakland and was in a bag. Four stars because to the service I received on my first check out wasn't good. She wasn't a good service. Also, I didn't like that to pay with Apple Pay the maximum is $99.99 dollars. I had to make two transactions bc I went above that amount. Double taxes I had to pay. Another thing I didn't like was that they don't have help out. I think they should bc if we mothers have babies and have a transaction over $150+ dollars, we need help. I really didn't see that coming and really didn't make sense when she was almost done w another customer. Not taking much time I did go to the first person who helped me at the beginning with guidance of an item I was looking for and she was more the nice to also apologize for the inconvenience, when it was not even her fault. I usually get the Chocolate Atole which is like a thick Mexican hot chocolate drink that taste amazing and is perfect for the cold weather! And to eat i get pupusas or a burrito. This is a very clean well organized, full service grocery store targeted for Hispanic customers. Old White guy here and I find this store to be impressive. Staff are helpful, and understanding for me being non Spanish speaking. It so clean and well organized. I will be revisiting soon to try some things new to me. During the holidays, it is a tradition in our family to make tamales. I got together with my friend and my sister to make Nicaraguan and Mexican tamales. It was getting late and we had to start the process so we head out to Las Montanas Supermarket. It's a great BIG place to shop, I got the majority of my shopping done in the first swoop. I still needed to hit up the smaller Latin Market on the way home to get banana leaves and parchment for the Nacatamales, but was impressed at how much they have. It's like a Latin Grocery Superstore and has top notch groceries as well as an in house butcher, great vegetables and peppers selection, an ceviche bar, bakery and QUESO counter. They even have an entire Taqueria in house and it looks fantastic. It took so much restraint to stick to my list. The meat department in the back is a great place to find large cuts of pork shoulder for carnitas, a large variety of poultry, meat and seafood included pre-marinated meat. I got a great deal on a large amount of meat needed for my tamales. I love this store. read more
