    Pupusas

This place has some of the best pupusas I've ever had! The flavors are amazing and everything tastes fresh and homemade. The atmosphere is super chill and calm, perfect for relaxing and enjoying your meal. The servers are really friendly and make you feel welcome. Definitely my go-to spot for pupusas! They have many other options as well

A friend recommended me this spot so I came here for the pupusas. The first thing I noticed was no lard smell and the clean electric grill upon entering. The indoor has tables and lots of locals inside enjoying the specialties. The parking here at this location has a parking lot and street parking. The slaw was finely shredded and balanced the meal out nicely. The hot sauce was hot yet enjoyable and gave the meal that extra umph.

Carnitas super burrito, the sauce that they give with this is very spicy

La Bamba is one of my favorite places to get a quick bite. Their burritos and pupusas are so delicious and flavorful. My brother loves their salsa and how spicy it is.

I ordered the Breakfast Burritos with Chorizo (4 Stars) everything was fresh and good quality. Easy to access right off the freeway.

Food quality is good! Service is eehh! Being from El Salvador- LOVE my culture food and supporting restaurants like this one. But I am still in shock that each pupusa is now $5 each!!! $5 plus tax Everything on the menu is high prices!! Hard to keep coming back often with inflation prices. So if you going to eat here don't say I didn't warn you On this episode I had the Casamiento dish $16

Always a yummy place for papusas. Service is fantastic, and the food is excellent. We've been here several times and the food hits the spot every time. Our family fave is the chicharrones con queso.

Got a shredded chicken super burrito w/no cilantro, started eating & got half way down, no sour cream, no guacamole & didn't see any cheese. I stop eating & opened it, there was only chicken, rice & beans & a small portion of pico de gallo. I called & told them & they remembered my order & told me to come & they would re-make it. When I took it back to show them the inside the guacamole was found in a corner at the opposite end of the burrito. I doubt I get another burrito now that I know the skimp on ingredients..The new burrito had everything that was missing & tasted pretty good.

Tried the super cheesy pupusas, very delectable and reminiscent of El Salvador.. a true taste of the motherland. Definitely would eat here again! Great place for some solid eats.. no frills for sure, just good food.

    I'm salivating. So good!

I love supporting small local businesses. They got the best fresh hand tossed pupusas. in the east bay hands down. Jalapeño/cheese, or zucchini/cheese my favorite. I would recommend calling in your order. Some times it can take up to 30-45 mins when ordering at the counter. Believe me the pupusa's are well worth with.

When in the Richmond area this is my go to for burritos. My favorite is the super carnitas burrito. Mariano's my favorite staff in this restaurant. She's amazing and super friendly. Ambiance is casual but has plenty of indoor seating for a family or large group. Parking on premises or street is available. Support this local gem!

Can't go wrong with their pupusas! Tamales are ok, overly salty, tacos and burritos are good.

I usually like your food from this place, but today the carne asada was extremely salty from our Burritos.

Ask the Community - Taqueria La Bamba

    Is there vegan options?

You're probably fine if you get the vegetarian burrito without cheese, crema, or rice.

Have they reopened for indoor dining yet? (08/07/2022)

    Yes

Is this restaurant open nowadays? I am craving for pupusas. Thanks.

Still open for takeout, closes at 8:45

Anyone know if they use lard in the papusas? Wondering if the meatless options are actually vegetarian.

No lard used in veggie pupusas. The only oil used in cooking is veggie oil

I used to come here more often when I worked in Richmond as it was on my way home. Yesterday, I was…read morein the area and figured I would stop by. I am so disappointed at the food changes and feeling bad to give a bad review as I love supporting small businesses and love Salvadorean food. There's a lot of room to improve. I've been eating Salvi food since I was child. If you order to go check before you leave. I had an item missing. I called and was able to get a refund. She handled it nice too since she forgot to add it. I took food to go. I added pictures on all. The tamales both chipilin and pork were good. The masa was excellent. The size was small to medium. The pupusas are tiny, they are good but nothing extraordinary. As they are small there's no cheese stretch or a good feel about the filling. The masa is good. The quesadilla pasty was crumbly, it did not feel fresh. It was dry with no flavor compared to ones I've eaten before. The best Salvi quesadillas are moist. The guava, pineapple, and custard empanada pastry were small. The pineapple one did not feel fresh, more on the dry side, crumbly compared to other flavors. The pork empanada was probably the worst. They were tiny with hardly any filling. The empanadas usually have a ground meat or shredded chicken. This one had pieces of pork so it was not flavorful at all. There's table seating indoors and outdoors. The yucca con chicharron was okay too. Usually it comes with a salad like but this one came with 1 beet, 1 slice of tomato and 1 slice of cucumber with a small bag of curtido. No sauce. Tip: The server gave me a business card and recommended to call for orders to go as the waiting time was 30 minutes. I did not mind waiting. I appreciated her sharing this. Tip: recommend the pork tamal. The pupusas if hungry get at least 3.

To me they're just kind of plain and dry. However, the pupusa's are really good and the staff is always really friendly. They used to have better deals on the pupusa during certain times of the day, but I don't think they do that anymore unfortunately. This is definitely a place. I've gone to several times and will continue to.
