Oaxacan-style black bean + cheese taco

I love food trucks! When you find a good one, you keep coming back. El topo was that for me. The Oaxacan-style black bean + cheese taco was great, and light if you aren't too hungry. The San Antonio sandwich, ::chef's kiss::

Saw this food truck at a local farmer's market one Saturday morning. I got an El gringo and a Houston taco. I had also paid for a coke but ended up walking off forgetting about it. Now I'll never forget that moment . The tacos were good. I would try them again to get the pastry.

Was at Urban Harvest Farmer's Market on two different weekends so I'm assuming it's there all the time. Also sometimes parks up next to Kirby Ice House so you can have a bite while drinking. These are some /expensive/ tacos. The breakfast taco will run you $5 and that's the cheapest one - there are others for $8 or more. They are hearty tacos, don't get me wrong, but you can definitely get ones just as large for less elsewhere. Breakfast Taco comes with a house made bacon which is much too thick and chewy - prefer that bacon in breakfast tacos come crisp and crunchy. There's an exorbitant amount of melted cheese in the tacos as well. Houston Taco A lot of meat - almost too much meat.

Cute small restaurant in the West University area , really love what they did with the space! El Topo is a Food Truck that just open a location here and let me tell you the food is Delish!! Make sure to tried The barbacoa Taco " Houston" you can't go wrong with it , also the vegetarian taco "Austin" was really good ! The Tortillas are homemade and probably the best tortillas I have ever tried! The place offers wine and has a beautiful ouTdoor sitting too and to make it better is kids friendly ! Swing by when you are in the area and give it a tried!

Had the Oaxacan Black Bean tacos for breakfast while perusing the Urban Harvest Farmers Market on Saturday! They were perfect for a nice crisp morning. Definitely "elevated" tacos that both look and taste amazing!

This place is truly a hidden gem! I knew it had tacos but I didn't know the tacos would be some of the tastiest I've ever had. I mean... in Texas we have A LOT of tacos but none like this. Get the barbacoa ... it will melt in your mouth. The brussels were outstanding. The sauce on the blue wings was perfect. The owner, Tony, greeted us and told us all about the concept and guided us through the wine list. We appreciated that and needed some advice bc the wine list is VERY unique. This was one of the most enjoyable dinners we've had in Houston. While we want this restaurant to be successful, we secretly hope that the secret doesn't get out so that we'll be able to come back and get a table! The interior is also sophisticated southwest down to every last detail. It has a hotel California vibe. And the playlist was on point .

El Topo came to my work, and I was excited to try something new for lunch. I asked the server for a suggestion and he just pointed to the menu. Assuming that the brusque attitude was part of their "charm", I ordered the San Antonio. What I received was charred and very greasy sandwich. I told the woman who served me that my sandwich was obviously burned and she told me "No, its just toasty", and abruptly returned to her conversation making fun of customers. Very dissatisfied, and honestly confused... Why would anyone visit this truck for anything other than utter convenience?

I went here with my family at the Rice Village farmers market. It was good we got the Houston (liked this one the best), the Austin, and the Gringo. The Houston was AMAZING and the meat was cooked so well, my only complaint is I wish there was more of the sauce on top to balance with the amount of meat. I recommend it but be prepared to wait--it's very popular!

San Antonio with side of corn. So delicious!

For drinks, my husband and our friends tried some of the margaritas from their large and unique margaritas menu, as well as their hibiscus agua fresca. All of the drinks were very pretty and it seemed like everyone enjoyed them, too! We started with their chips and salsa trio, which we all really liked. The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! We got a quatro leches and two ordered of their giant and amazing churros. Both were incredibly tasty and reason enough to return for another visit in the future!

Service was remarkable and very friendly from the host to the cleaning staff. Food was delicious. I really appreciated the creative flavors that were inspired by authentic Mexican cuisine. Standouts were the guacamole and wagyu carne asada, but everything was fantastic. I loved the Clara cocktail and enjoyed learning about the process to create it. It is clear that there was care and attention behind each menu item. Also, the pace of the food being brought out was evenly paced, which I appreciate, and our server gave us just the right amount of attentiveness. We celebrated my husband's birthday here, and they sent out a tres leches with a candle on it. Very kind and very delicious dessert. Usually not a big fan of tres leches, but this one was not overwhelmingly soaked in condensed milk, and it has a very fresh tasting peach (seasonal) puree drizzled on top. We will most definitely return.

I couldn't not order the duck carnitas. It came on a sope, which is basically my definition of the perfect Mexican brunch. It was really yummy, and I especially loved the salsa that came with it. My only real critique is that the portions felt a little on the smaller side. Either bump them up a bit or add a small side, because I definitely could've eaten a little more.
