We love coming here for the margaritas, chips & salsa. Food & service are good and we rarely have to wait for a table.

I grew up on the food here, and I have always recieved high quality food, quality service. I appreciate the fact that unlike many restaraunts in this area, they do not have a revolving door policy for employees, and some have been around since I was a child, and when I get the chance to go back, it's always to a warm and happy greeting. read more

We come here often but after tonight will not be back. We were unknowingly sat at table in a section that was reserved for a large group. As each member of this party walked in we had to hear about how there was some sort of disconnect between the time the reservation was taken for and the time actually requested (not our fault). They were also told that people were asking why they couldn't sit there (not true). My family and I were made to feel as though we were crashing their party and uncomfortable when in reality this was a result of management making a poor decision and throwing us under the bus. As you can imagine this didn't make for a pleasant dining experience and $60 later nothing was done to appease us. read more

The wait was terrible. It took 5 minutes to get a drink order in. I ordered a tostada dinner and it was nothing but lettuce with small amount of chicken and a soggy tostada under it. The only saving factor was the cheese enchiladas which were great. The salad that it came with it was soggy and gross. I will never eat here again. read more

Went about a month ago... Not the most amazing Mexican food, but it wasn't bad. The chicken inside my burrito was really great.

A journey south of the border, but it only took 10 minutes to get there.

Every time we order to go we have something missing or wrong! EVERY TIME!!! Back and forth we go to get our order. No apologies, just come get what they forgot to give us. It is so annoying that I don't think we will go back and give them our business anymore. read more

This was my favorite place for Mexican food I was very disappointed to stop by and see that it was closed by the Health Dept. On 04/17/17 due to vermin infestation sorry you just lost a customer infestation doesn't happen overnight it's happens from a clear lack of sanitation and poor housekeeping and a management staff that clearly doesn't care about the customer only the bottom line $$$ that would allow some thing like this to happen. read more

This review is for the location on Avenue L and 40th St., West. We have gone there twice recently since the pandemic and taken food to go. I'm not sure why, but the staff working there has been extremely rude the last two times we have been there. That is not a way to treat your customers. Aside from that, our order was missing things and the food has not been the same. They do not give the same avocado salsa with the to go orders and they have omitted the soup or salad that comes with each meal. We no longer get chips, so when we asked for them, we got an attitude from the person working there. If you want good service I would say to go to the one near Costco instead because they are busy, but they are really nice. This must mean that they are busy for a reason because L and 40th it's just not worth your money. The employees there need to learn that their job realize on customers and they obviously do not realize that yet, so we will not be returning. read more

This is a typical Tex-mex restaurant in both menu and decor with a few actual mexican dishes; they cater to the american burrito eating crowd who expect a big plate with a lot of rice and refried beans. If that's what you are into, you will love it. The chips are warm, the salsa is average. The service is good, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming. We do like their Wednesday night buffet which includes a sparkling wine (usually it is a spumante style american bottled which they call "champagne"). It includes 2 soups (albondigas and chicken tortilla) and a very nice salad bar with fresh fruit. The buffet has rice, beans, cheese enchiladas, chile relleno, sope, ribs in bbq sauce, tampiquena, carnitas and a few other things. The food is average but it's the price and location that keep us coming back and leaving happy. read more

Never fails every time I walk in I'm greeted with a smile and Arturo (One of the BEST bartenders I know) brings me my Strawberry Mag. and mild salsa (he calls ketchup) and takes my order within minutes...Venessa the hostess amazing too... My husband and I are new to the area so we are looking to find a new Mexican restaurant. We stopped to try El Torso Far West because it had decent reviews and was local to us. When we arrived the restaurant was very slow but still took over 4 minutes to be seated. The place smells musty and dirty, the interior is dingy and could us a major upgrade. The staff was friendly but the food was so so. Chips were stail, and the main dishes were reheated...that means to me not freshly made or plated. You could even say that they were over heated because the cheese and the top of the rice was burnt. We will not be going here again...we counting on with our search to find a quality Mexican restaurant. read more

The service is great we love Raul he is just awesome and always on the go and always knows what we want as soon as we walk in. They have great salsa as well. I've been coming here since I was a wee-little-child, and it brings back so many memories on coming here with my family. The bean and cheese burritos are so good - anything is good here! The tacos are crispy and delicious (if you order take out they will get soggy by the time you get home) and the lettuce and cheese they put on the tacos is like a salad itself (so good). Their enchilada sauce is a weakness to my whole family, we always ask for extra in our plates/containers or get a cup if doing take out. And the servers are so nice! They make us feel welcome and always ask if we need anything else. I would make this to five stars in a heart beat... but I only put four due to them being closed for health inspection. I know this has happened a few times in the past, and they have been closed for much longer than my family has anticipated. We're hoping it's closed so they will fix whatever is going on so it won't happen again. Please El Toreo, you're our only hope! Open again soon! read more

I've been dining at El Toreo regularly for about 20 years and it has always been fantastic. Regardless which location you dine at the food is always consistently the same and perfect no matter how many times I order it. Some of the wait staff have been there as long as I've been going. They are always friendly and attentive. I can not recall them getting an order wrong in 20 years. The Wednesday and Sunday Buffet is wonderful and very reasonably priced. read more

El Toreo has the greatest service, delicious food, especially the enchilada special :) The salsa isn't watered down like every other mexican place I've experienced and best of all.... BOMB margaritas!!! The salad is drenched in dressing, but that's the only downfall at this place. It's great and I've been eating here for years. read more

This Mexican place was the second I tried after moving to Lancaster, and currently holds "last place" in my mental Mex-food contest. It was recommended by a long-time local...maybe she's never been out of Lancaster and doesn't know what good Mexican food is like. To El Toreo's credit, they carry Negro Modelo, my all time favorite beer. Sipping my nice, cold Modelo, I checked out the bizarre decor, and the run-of the-mill menu and ordered an enchilada combo, Ranchera-style. The salad that came with the meal was absolutely drowned in dressing, and was just iceberg lettuce (a pointless non-food) and carrot slices. So I pushed salad aside and stuck to the chips and salsa, which were generic, nothing special. My enchiladas were super-greasy and at the same time sort of flavorless. The Spanish style rice was just ok. Maybe, I just didn't order "The Winner"...i think almost every restaurant has one...but I won't be going back to try again. read more

Best bean and cheese burrito ever. No, really. EVER. Love the flautas and the carnitas too. I think this is the best of all the el toreos in terms of both food and service. I could sit at one of those outdoor tables and crush margaritas all day... Actually I think I'll do that tomorrow. I'm not going to go into details, I'm just going to say that if you haven't tried this place you should. Not sure what the reviewer that gave one star is talking about but she listed Negra Modelo as her all time favorite beer (lame), so her opinion is out. read more
