We like a good Mexican meal. But we were disappointed here because none of the food had any" heat". We had fajitas. I had shrimp which were a nice size and plenty of them. My husband had the beef that was good but no seasoning. read more

This place is bad. Over priced and horrible service. The beer tasted like they left it in the fridge after they loss power with the hurricane and served it. We were charged for another tables food and then instead of telling us they went and charged the card twice. Would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

First of all the only reason I'm giving a 1 star is because I'm so disgusted by the lady who is supposed to be the manager..suzie..she was rude and extremely unhelpful. Our server had like 5 tables and he was taking forever so I asked this ignorant women to maybe get us water and she gave me a smirky rude look and said your server will be right with you when she clearly saw that he was overwhelmed and she could have helped that's what a manager does that's what someone in charge does that somebody cares about their customers does helps not act like she's beneath helping so unimpressed with this person and that's the only reason for the 1 but the food was delicious and our server was awesome it was Susie who caused this bad review...so if you're an owner of this place or manager you need to take a look at that woman very unimpressed! read more

Being half Mexican, this is my favorite place to stop on my frequent out of town drives from Orlando to Gainesville. It's in Ocala, so it is what it is. This salsa is what I miss from California. It's the right seasoning and it's just hot enough. The chicken fajitas are always a favorite and while I don't always agree with the types of cheese they use from traditional dishes, I'll blame that on them trying to accommodate tourists. It's not like what I remember eating in Acapulco, and it's definitely not California but the meat is always tender and flavorful, the salsa is authentic and they remember me here. I definitely stick with the chicken here, it's always juicy and full of flavor, it's a sure thing (insert chicken wing joke here). Enjoy the service and the atmosphere and a flavorful meal and get back on the road...cause let's face it your final destination is not Ocala and if it is, well my condolences. read more

Enjoyed an evening out with family, and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I went with one of their combos (enchilada, taco, rice and beans). The food is definitely of a high quality, for the style of cuisine. Fills you up, without taking you beyond capacity. The place is dated and I got a weird feeling when I walked through the door. The chips and salsa is basic (salsa straight from a can) and the chips were not warm. The food came straight from the microwave onto our table. There was nothing fresh that came out the kitchen. I was even questioning the lettuce and tomatoes that came with my husbands chimichanga. This place is pretty solid overall...I was tempted to leave a 3* review but chose to do a 4* because the Mariachi Band was a unique touch! Apparently they play nightly! The Fajitas were off the charts good and a healthy portion for the price. I have never seen a 60oz margarita in my life but believe me it exists here! WOW read more

This was the poorest excuse for food much less Mexican food I have ever tasted. It was bland to the point if tasting like paper. The only thing with taste was the frozen hot poppers. I've been here many times and it's usually been "okay". Also, I've never been during Sunday day; only happy hour on weeknights. First, I sat at the bar and there was no bartender. Three different ladies all had no idea who was waiting on me. Chips are hit or miss. Today they were cold and burnt. I usually get a combo, but today opted for "Tacos de bistec". 3 soft tacos were filled with nothing but overcooked dried beef, a little pico de gallo, but no other normal cheap taco fillings like lettuce, tomato, or guacamole. Refried beans and rice were slopped on the plate and were okay. Thank goodness I had plenty of beer to soften and wash down the dried, overcooked beef. As you can probably tell, I got a bad taste today, and I probably won't be back for awhile? read more

My coworkers and I were directed here by some locals who swore it was the best Mexican food in town. There were 3 of us and nobody thought it was very stellar. My dinner (#23) tasted very Taco Bell-ish. Our server was friendly and efficient. I had a good mojito while my coworkers had 99 cent margaritas that reportedly did not have much tequila in them. I have not ever been overly impressed with Mexican food. Chips and Guac are about my favorite thing in any Mexican restaurant. This one was good enough but nothing to write home about. read more

Absolutely unrecognizable as Mexican food. Bland tomato sauce for salsa, beans are tasteless and probably out of a can. They use preformed shells for tacos, the house margaritas were cheap but weak and the ice water was cold. Also the server was a pleasant young man. I was in Ocala on vacation visiting my boyfriend and I was looking for something casual but nice to take my boyfriend to dinner on his birthday. I found this place and it looked a lot like the restaurants we like to eat at so I decided I'd give it a shot. We get here and I'll start with how great of a vibe there is when you walk in. Our waitress was such a wonderful person and served us always with a smile! They had some live Mariachi playing and that for me was a bonus, I absolutely love Mariachi music. The food was definitely delicious and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the spicy shrimp i had ordered were ACTUALLY spicy. I recommend this place 100%, and will be stoping by again next time I'm in town. read more

Well on the road we stopped in to this authentic Mexican restaurant with our family of six. The waiter Brendan was very knowledgeable and very helpful in helping us make a selection from the extensive menu. They are authentic Mexican but they also have some great kids food selections like pizza, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks. I saw one of the other patrons drinking an amazing looking margarita. Too bad we are on the road otherwise I would be thinking the same. When we arrived at the table, there was already chips and salsa there for us to snack on while we were waiting for waiter to come over and take our order. I pointed out to the server for a menu to verify i ordered the correct combo number. it was. i told the server that this puried beef was not a chili rellano. he insisted it was. well i gave the plate back, paid for my beer and left. i will not return to this restaurant. read more

The service was excellent and the food is satisfying for the price. We experienced the mariachi band playing that night who were not too intrusive and played very well together. I'm sad to say I didn't get to try a frozen margarita, but did have the Sangria. It was tasty! I actually ventured out of my comfort zone and ordered a platter with a taco (which is a safe bet anywhere) but also had a chalupa and a tostada (all beef/refriend beans). I have to say that I was really looking forward to this place. The service was great. Cesar did an excellent job. Un fortunately the food could of been better. Especially the fajita combo. I had the steak & chicken combo, but I wouldn't know because I got more pepper and onions than meat. I was asking "where is the meat". Never again! I'm sorry, but everything was garbage from the customer service, to the food, to the check. The waitress was very rude and unprofessional. The "manager" was no better. The atmosphere was okay but didn't make up for everything else. The "Mexican food" was not even on Taco Bell's level. The "beef" was ground beef that tasted like it was out of a can, the taco shells were those you buy boxed from a grocery store, the tortillas were under cooked, the beer was expensive and the salsa was way too watery. Recently we stayed in Ocala while visiting some sites near there. While out searching somewhere to eat, we decided to try this restaurant. It had only gotten 3 stars on Yelp so I was a little concerned. To my surprise, it was quite good. I moved here after living in the Dallas area for the past 34-35 years. Needless to say, I've been to many TexMex restaurants. It hasn't been easy to find good Mexican food since moving here to Florida 4 years ago. This place has come close, though. read more

Something has changed here. The food is absolutely uneventful, seemingly mad with minimum effort. Bland in taste and visual appeal. We had to send our daughter's beef nachos back because it was no more than chips with the most massive mound of beef swimming in grease. The carnitas were mushy and full of fat. The rice and beans had the most unappealing color I've ever seen. The service is somewhat lackluster as well. It's no wonder there were few patrons (the least we've ever seen here) at lunchtime. read more
