Let me start by saying I very rarely complain. It's not in me to tell someone about something miniscule, and unimportant. So this type review is unusual for me. My experience when I walked in, was that it was more bar, and less restaurant. It was clean from first glance, and waiter did a fairly decent job. I ordered the fajitas. A simple yet flavorful dish when done right. It was not. I got chicken as my meat, and the item comes with green bell peppers, and onions. Most of the onions were raw in the middle, and burnt on the edges. The bell pepers were really overdone. It was apparent that they cooked it on a very high setting. Also to be noted is that all the items for the dish are prepared in the same pan, at the same time (this was confirmed by the manager). Normally this wouldn't be a problem if you were using a less potent onion. But they were using white onions. The potency of the onion massively overpowered the green peppers to the point I couldn't taste anything but onion even when eating a bell pepper alone. I also found several onion core ends on the plate. Which was an immediate turn off. On top of all of that the dish which was $12 didn't come with sour cream. That would have been an extra $1.25. That's expensive even as an additional side. Let alone not getting any to begin with. To add insult to injury. They don't have but one free refill on soft drinks. Which they note in the menu, and you have to be careful about that because my waiter brought me a second refill without confirming if it was ok to charge me for it. Now as I said complaining about a service is rare for me. It has to be really bad for me to be willing to say something. I did however note all of this to the manager. I then paid my bill, and left. I doubt I will be going back. P.s. I can personally prepare very good fajitas for more than one person for about $12. So the price on that item for a single person is ridiculous. read more

The food is really good, BUT the waitress Reyna geez she's horrible... She forgot my tortillas on the side, I've waited for literally 5-10 mins while my food was hot n ready but the missing tortillas...and did not have our drink refilled while we was eating we were sooo thirsty and waited for Reyna no sight of her until then finally we saw her, she did not even come to us and she served another people's order while we was still waiting and VERY thirsty. When she's finished with another people's order she STILL did not come to us, she went back filled in another people's order on computer screen. We've been here twice and were pleased both times. Carne asada tacos were great, except a bit cold due to being served on a metal rack. The salsa, chips and guacamole were all good. Was not so pleased with the chile relleno - maybe the cheese was authentic but there was too much and it was too runny for my taste. More of a bar then restaurant, ( obviously almost every table had drinks ) meal had no spices my enchiladas were just ground beef rolled in a flour tortilla with some shredded cheese on top and nasty enchilada sauce. My hubbys fajattis had no spices and the steak and chicken just tasted like peppers and onions. This is the WORST "Mexican" food I have ever gotten. I ordered the mole poblano chicken enchiladas , not expecting Mexican, or even Western USA quality, but the mole was oversweet and too choclaty, the dish wasn't hot and the last two enchiladas were watery and cold, like they had been frozen and hadn't been left in the microwave long enough. The chips and salsa did not taste fresh. The salsa was bitter and did not have any cilantro or fresh ingredients. It tasted like it came from a jar. The chips tasted like they were fried in very old grease. I ordered combo #7 the tamale and enchilada. They were so-so. The beans and rice were extremely bland and the rice was minute rice. All in all I was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was very busy so I assumed that the food was going to be really good. Not the case and the service had a lot to be desired. We did get sat by the hostess very quickly but it took at least five minutes to get a drink order and then at least another ten minutes before they took our food order. This place (at least the Silver Springs Blvd location) is the 2nd worst mexican food I have ever had. the worst was in Batesville Arkansas so you can get the picture! The food is so obviously right off the Mexican version of the sysco truck...plainly frozen and poorly handled at that! The red sauces actually tasted like tomato soup...a first for that. The food is just plain bad bordering on nasty. The decor is ratty, the carpet ripped and actually smelly. The only real reason to EVER come here would be for the drink specials...is you could actually trust them to put actual liquor in the drinks! El Azteca right across the Blvd claims to make everything themselves (which I think is a bending of the truth) but it is actually much better. read more

We went in for lunch. I ordered the taco and enchilada lunch combo. The food was delicious. You can only choose refried beans or spanish rice, unless you want to pay the 2.45 for the extra side dish. Sour cream was also a surcharge. First time I have been to a mexican joint and been charged for either rice, beans, or sour cream. read more

I have never like this restaurant because every time i go there I get sick. At first I thought it was the Mexican food - so I tried American.. Still got sick.. this was two years ago so recently I decided to go back to try them again.. see if anything has changed- I have to tell you that I ordered an American steak and it was on top of french fries and a salad ... you would think they would bring you a extra plate to get the steak off in order to cut it but No they did not.. I asked the waitress for another plate but she never brought it to me- the steak was cold when it came out- not good- I could have cooked better at home. This is not the only thing that bothered me but the fact that I was trying to be nice and not complain about the food- and leave a tip for the waitress ( because I know what it feels like not getting a tip at all). Well the next day I look at my bank statement and to my surprise my card was ran three times. So my 40 dollar meal.. turned in to 120 dollar meal- when I called the restaurant to get it cleared up the manager is NEVER there.... The card number was used multiple times during the day.. ( not round the same time) so it was not an accident. Well when you file a dispute through your bank they have to send you a new card.. So I have to go without a card for 7- 10 days... while my money is still on hold through the bank... so I can't touch it :( DO NOT EAT HERE THEY ARE RUNNING CARD SCAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I had lunch there today with a freind, disappointed to see they don't have lunch specials on Saturday. Food was "OK," but certainly nothing special, nor anywhere close to good as the Mexican restaurants in Gainesville. Server was polite but nothing special. Service was good, the restaurant was clean but noisy, as someone else mentioned there was a birthday party in progress, and the LOUD music was very distasteful. Price wasn't worth it. I wouldn't say this is a Bad place, but if you're used to really great mexican food, superior service and fair prices, this is not what you're looking for. Just recently went back to the east SR 40 location and I remembered why I had not been there in about five years. The food has absolutely no taste, from the salsa to the main course, and the service is slow at best. Go to El Azteca, Chilis or even taco bell. Great place! Mariachi Band, clean, friendly and fast service. Both Ocala locations are great. Love the food but you do need to ask if you want it spicier than usual. They'll do it if you ask. Great place....indoor and outdoor dining in both locations, full liquor bar both locations smoking in the outdoor seating at both locations. Only difference is the outdoor dining at the SR200 location is covered in the event of inclement weather and the SR40 location doesn't have covered outdoor seating. read more

Walked in on a Saturday Night, bad service. After being seated and handed menus, waited about 15 minutes and no one came to our table to ask if we were ready to order. The seating hostess noticed as we were seated close to the entrance and she became our server. Food was good, but the service is terrible. Asked for a box as we had a bunch of left overs, and we stepped out on their patio for a while. When we came back in, they cleaned our table and I asked our server what happened to the food we requested that we'll take home and she said I'm sorry "they" cleaned the tables, "they" are not supposed to do that. I asked her: "I specifically asked for a to go box" and she said, I'm sorry but didn't offer to correct the mistake or anything. read more
