Ordered two combos , story short , the service was decent maybe it's because I came in the afternoon and it was at least 8 people in there and I waited for a couple minutes and got my food, mannn not sure if it's cooked right or something was off because couple bites in the enchiladas, and my stomach was not feeling right ... just ended up throwing it up an i didn't even finish half of it... not sure if the cooks wash there hands or wear gloves but thats totally not cool .... I haven't been to one El Torito for ages, I would even say for at least a decade. When I lived in San Diego I celebrated there my first birthday in my American life (so was like re-birth in a way, therefore I can say I am 20 years younger than my bio age:). El Torito was for me that illusion of fake Mexicanity in full splendor. All the pretty decor, the object, the kitchen apparel, the presentation of the food...the food itself! To hell with the purists that always complain 'this is not real Mexican'. I don't care. They don't pretend. It is an illusion, like Chipotle or like Rubio's. Eat and enjoy. And dream of a trip to Mexico. To me El Torito conjugate great memories of girlfriendship having some margas after our 'accent reduction classes'. We keep the memories of those happy hours, we end up keeping our accents as 'accents do sell' and is kind of nice to appear as perennial tourist. A decade forward, and having no idea where my boyfriend wanted to go for his birthday dinner, he begged "I am craving those fajitas from El Torito". I had no idea there was one restaurant in Milpitas and a tsunami size flashback came to inundate me of more good memories. Food was awesome, blue walls perfect match to my lemon purse and yellow pullover, all that ideal Mexico (no Frida Kahlo in site, though, I guess she died of overexposure), happy bf celebrating a milestone birthday and the certainty I will go back soon. read more

I just recently had my baby shower there on 5/6 and wow! Everything came out great! Everyone really enjoyed the space, food, drinks, and the service provided ! I was very much impressed by the staff and the overall atmosphere and area that hosted my shower for just under 50 people which worked out perfectly! You & your crew are in charge of decorations and luckily that all worked out perfectly as well! Sadly, on my end I did not catch any of the names of the staff, but they were sooo nice and soo helpful! I appreciated them so much! (A younger Hispanic man, an older Hispanic man with glasses, & a middle aged Hispanic man) All we're great ! I would definitely recommend hosting a party here as I would do it all over again! I think for the price this place is great! My husband and I came in for the lunch buffet during our day off on a Monday. We came closer to 1:00pm, and the meats for the taco bar were kind of cold, but the lady serving was very generous with the portions which was nice. We got to try everything and I loved that I got to finally enjoy a lot of that sweet corn thing that I never get enough of when I order off the regular menu. I'm crazy about that corn thingie, it's worth the price of the buffet just for that! Overall I overate and came away stuffed as a tick (my problem with buffets!) I would definitely come back and try more things but off the regular menu. read more

We were a large party with a reservation and they didn't have our table ready, even though when we called they said they did. The host was very stand offish with an attitude when we asked if they can place the cake in their fridge. The food was completely tasteless. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I had been here before on one occasion for Taco Tuesday and most recently for a baby shower. Both times, El Torito delivered! They have a great and attentive waitstaff, and the food was on point. The meats were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. For the baby shower I attended, we were placed in a semi-private area (semi-private because the wall was not closed off but rather partitioned with the ability to see out into the regular dining area) with a buffet style lunch set up right outside the dining area. As I mentioned, the food was very deliciously prepared, and the servers were so friendly and attentive. We had a dedicated server ensuring that the food looked appetizing (difficult to do when you have a buffet style lunch that everyone is picking at), and that the drinks we ordered came on time. Not a huge dealbreaker to me, but might be for others - they did not have toilet paper in any of the bathroom stalls but were well stocked with seat liners. I figured it was probably just a busy Saturday, but I was there for a few hours and not once had it been restocked. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend El Torito for any important life celebrations! read more

I ordered the Sizzling combo platter at the El Torito Milpitas, Ca location. I haven't eaten at El Toritos in such a long time. The Sizzling Combo platter was a good way to try different main menu items to review. The shrimp fajitas was delicious. The shrimp was cooked just right. It was tender, not hard like over cooked shrimp. The mini Soft taco was good. The beef was flavorful, the soft taco shell was a little hard around the edges. The refried beans tasted as it is suppose to taste. Not bad. The Spanish fried rice was also average. The flavor was light, not intense with flavor as i prefer. Overall, El Toritos is not a bad Mexican restaurant for a lot of people who have not ventured walking into a small Mexican mom and pop restaurants. Comparison won't be fair. read more

My good bank friend and I have been meaning to meet for a catch up session. We decided on El Torito because it was the halfway meeting point between San Jose and Fremont. I've been to this location on several occasions, and it's never really blew me out of the water but it does meet the expectation of a decent restaurant. Inspired by Mexican meals, the menu ranges from enchiladas to tacos and burritos. They have a full bar and offer a variety of cocktail drinks. We ordered some drinks and had their appetizing shrimp tostadas -- something new to their menu. It had some raw fish and their signature mango salsa. So good we ordered two rounds each! Their servers are attentive for the most part and move pretty quickly on drink orders. Ma throw holiday parties and birthday celebrations here frequently so there's always a hype in the crowd. It's a nice family oriented neighborhood type of restaurant. Comparable to the atmosphere of a Red Lobster or Chill's. P.S.
