One of our meals was supposed to come with lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole which we didn't receive. Stopped in due to finding it on Yelp and I was nearby. I really really liked it. Chips were yellow and on the thicker side of a spectrum. The salsa was different - very tomato-y, almost like a thin marina - but I ate it all. And got more. I never clean the salsa cup. Doesn't look like much on the outside but inside was clean and neat. Waitress was super friendly and while it was not busy, it had a fairly diverse clientele including military (discount available). I got all very mild things (rice included, kinda plain) but I heard you could ask for spicier options. The rest of the food was quick, fresh, and tasty. Food was good. I picked up to go food. I noticed the last time I went I was charged more than the time before and I ordered the exact same thing. I checked because the guy that checked me out didn't want to give me a receipt and said I didn't need to sign it, which was different than the week before. Great location right outside of the Fort Leavenworth main gate. Have been here repeatedly over the past few months. The Pollo Acapulco meal is a favorite. The Pollo a La Diablo is also good; spicy. Couldn't stop eating it even though my mouth was burning and nose running:) House margaritas are $3.99. Minus one star because the chips are not consistent. Sometimes they are stale. Leavenworth...you are sleeping on this gem! I work on SW blvd, this could rival if not beat several restaurants in quality, price, and service. Came in on Cinco de Mayo. We were trying to go somewhere else but we ran late(not another Mexican restaurant) and they were closed. Drove past and stopped cause it looked empty. It did pick up while we were there Service was 12/10. Attentive and helpful without hovering. Chips and salsa were delicious. Loved both salsas, one really had a kick. My friend and I both ordered the Acapulco chicken platter. We should've split 1! Sooo much food. Came out really fast. Fluffy rice, lots of both chicken and shrimp,all covered in a tasty white sauce. The whole meal was perfect. I had a really great Pina coloda. Friend had a beer and house margarita, he said the latter wasn't overly just mix like some places. Our waiter even recommended where we could go listen to some live mariachi for the night! I don't come to this area often but will be sure to visit again! read more

Went to Lawrence to visit my daughter and we decided to go out for Mexican food. Didn't know which restaurant to choose so picked based on Yelp recommendations. Spot on!! Great restaurant. Staff very friendly and supporting COVID restrictions. There were 6 of us but they were able to seat us right away. Immediately served us with beverages (great prices on drinks) and took our food order. We did not have to wait long for the food and it was delicious. Visited this little place this afternoon with a coworker and ordered from the lunch menu. It's a cozy little establishment with an attentive staff and a fairly extensive menu. I ordered the chicken chimichanga lunch special and it came with rice and beans. I have add before I mention the entree that the chips and salsa were pretty good. More the chips than the salsa. Anyway, the chicken chimichanga was kinda "meh", I thought the fried burrito should have been a little crispier. I felt the beans were a little on the watery side and surprisingly bland. The best thing on my plate by far was the rice. Fluffy, seasoned, just about perfect. I would come here again and try something different, but they gotta go harder in the paint. read more

We were getting tired of the same old Mexican food takeout during the pandemic so decided to mix it up and go with the place right outside of the base gates. The food was 3.5-4 stars but the service was 5, so that rounds out to be a 4 star review. They gave me the entirely wrong food so it was hard to judge my entree, but my husbands was pretty decent. Their spicy salsa is pretty delicious. Their queso cheese dip was like straight water which was disappointing but my 18 month old loved dipping his chips so it wasn't a total bust. The chips are fried to perfection and they have an excellent spicy salsa that will warm your whole body up. I order the fajita taco salad and it always tastes fresh. I ordered the combo with a chicken chimichanga and two beef enchiladas. I usually don't go with a combo when evaluating, but I was beguiled by the great deal on the combo. The beef burritos in the combo aren't anything special, but the chimi was fantastic. The white sauce over the chimi had great consistency and complimented the flavor of the chicken nicely. One surprising highlight was the horchata, which was not only sweet, but thicker than most other restaurants' watered down version. Good salsa that tasted fresh, too. read more

I've been here twice. I'm a "mexican" food snob. I'm from CA where great authentic mexican is on every corner. This is the best Mex food so far in KC. It's a tiny place. The owners/staff are very very friendly. Food comes FAST. I've been here with friends twice on Thursday night which is enchilada special night. So far I've had the Spinach enchilada and the shrimp one. Both have a white cheese sauce & are amazing. Not authentic mexican, but really good. The chips were really fresh, the mild salsa is really good, the spicey one is awesome if you can handle heat. I honestly dislike Tampicos as they make everything super spicy. The spice ensures you don't think the rest of the meal is just generic. And it is. Real mexican food isn't blazingly hot. ;) read more

Went here with one other person to get Mexican. Arrived when they just opened, which was great because, the place was packed within 30 minutes. Our server brought us Salsa and Chips, which were good. Both ordered the Burrito Special, which was ok, but could use more flavor. The service for a small place like this was slow, we had to rely on the other server to get more to drink and our check. We were in town for a day trip, looking for a lunch spot, and this place was a block away. Decided to give it a try based on the Yelp reviews, and glad we did. Very, very unassuming place. I don't think I've ever been around a waiter who said less than ours. He was very friendly, but just as quiet. The food came so fast that I was reminded of the scene from "Defending Your Life," where Albert Brooks' character is in the diner in Judgement City and his food arrives seconds after he places the order. As others have mentioned, it's not the Americanized Mexican food that you find at so many places these days. Very good authentic food. I love this little place. The food is always freshly prepared, not cooked, held, and reheated like some Mexican restaurants I've been to. Their guacamole is outstanding. Finally stopped here to eat lunch since it has been reopened. The waitress was a bit cold but she did fine serving the food. My big complaint is my chili Rellenos....I love them....I order them every Mexican restaurant I go to.....cheese stuffed! Well the one here certainly had enough cheese but it was like eating a block of luck warm cheese. I prefer my cheese inside to be gooey and melting. Good food, alright service but I would go again. The only thing me and my husband had a problem with was, when it was time to pay for our check we paid with our debit card. As he proceeds to give us our receipt it was $30.27 and my card and went through and said they charged us an extra six dollars. So I would double check your card just in case.
