Hands down the best movers ever! Slava and his team were easily the most professional, meticulous, amicable and careful movers we have ever seen. We were thrilled with the ease and speed of our move and the sincerity and care of their work. We cant thank our driver Slava, CEO Kevin and the entire team enough and will use them over and over again. We have already recommended them to all our friends!!! It was an excellent experience. Thank you Slava!!! Details: We were agonising for months over which mover to pick for our move from Manhattan to Florida. We had pored over every review of every possible mover and were left disheartened because the bad reviews of every company were totally unacceptable for us. We read every review of Elate, American, International Van lines , Piece of Cake movers etc. We finally picked Elate movers as a last resort (worried that if their bad reviews come out true we would still be very upset) yet they proved to be the best of the best! Don't let their sales person NIck turn you off. He comes across with a cold gruff attitude, yet thankfully we persisted beyond him and found Kevin Britt and the moving team to be outstanding. Here is what we did to reduce our worry: we read every single review of Elate from every website and and ensured that all the loopholes mentioned by other reviewers were plugged by us. 1. People said they increased prices on day of the move: We asked for an in person preview 5 days in advance - so that there were no surprises on day of move. Their CEO Kevin Britt came for the walk through and was a lovely person. He told us not to dismantle any of the big stuff (including lamps) and that they would pack it and not charge extra. (Btw their packing is fabulous!) 2. Some reviewers said that you should get every detail written down otherwise they will bill extra at every chance. So we got every single detail written down and agreed to. Via email 3. Another reviewer said that during Covid Elate packing was terrible so we packed all our stuff on our own very carefully. We had a numbering system so we knew exactly what was in each box, plus we knew the total number of boxes. 4. Elate asks for 50% of the money on day of move and 50% on day of unloading. We had read from other reviewers that when they had given credit cards they got billed for extra hours, extra charges for every tiny thing possible, so we made sure we never gave a credit card and had certified checks at each point ready so that extra unknown billing would be impossible. (I have to say here that the sales person did pressurise us to give a credit card over and over which made us even more alert and determined not to give it) 5. Other reviewers said that the foreman asks for a huge tip in exchange for a decrease in the total moving bill. We were wary of that, however our foreman Slava was a gem of a person and never pushed for the tip. If he had pushed for a tip I would not have given him any review forget about a good review. Slava was in fact a genuinely caring and positive person with a nice smile and we enjoyed every interaction with him. He placed our furniture exactly where we wanted it and was very careful with everything. Loved this. We wished we had won the lottery so we could have tipped him more! On the day of the move: We wish we had known how experienced and decent these guys were- it would have saved us a lot of unnecessary worry and agony. On moving day : Movers came 30 minutes late ( we were worried :), however once the 4 of them arrived they worked like a well oiled machine. Alex did an outstanding job packing every single piece to perfection with so much care - we were impressed. Slava packed the other room, incredibly well too. The other 2 people moved the boxes /furniture to the 20 foot truck. They took about 3 hours for our 800sq ft apt. And in 48 hours Slava met us at our new house in Florida. They took another 3 hours to unpack and unload everything with smiles and kindness all around. Every single item arrived without a single nick or scratch. What a feat! We are thrilled beyond words. We wish we had known that a move could go so smoothly! Would have loved to avoid all the worry and agony beforehand. We had promised ourselves that if this move goes well, we will write an exhaustive review so that future customers will know exactly what to expect. (Because if we had read a review this detailed many of our own fears would have been allayed and our decision would have been swifter and sooner in favor of Elate) So finally, hats off to this amazing company and especially Slava and his team for giving us a worry-free, happy peaceful experience! Let me sum up this moving experience in one word - fantastic! George (GG) and his team (4 in total) were the ultimate professionals; polite, efficient and an absolute pleasure to work with. In our 40 years of marriage we have moved 12 times and never had an experience as good as this (or even close to this). Moving is, as you well know, an extremely stressful and complicated undertaking. Our move certainly met that criteria. The crew had to first stop at our home in Greenwich, CT to pick up art, clothes and many cartons of household effects. The next stop was our storage facility at Westy's in Port Chester, NY where the contents of a 200 square foot store room had to be loaded. The next stop was our apartment, midtown NYC on 5th Avenue across from Central Park. All this in one day and it went as smooth as silk! I know that many readers of these reviews ask about quotes and actual payments. Our job was originally quoted by Nick and his estimate was right on the money. Before hiring Elate I had interviewed and received quotes from several other movers. Elate was the most competitive right from the start and, most importantly, they were confident that they could do the job in 1 day. All of the other companies wanted to load the night before and store overnight (storing furniture in a closed truck in 90 degree heat is NOT a great idea) and then drive to the City and unload. The few variances in our cost were just extra time (which we knew we would incur) and charges for a few cartons for art (which they packed), etc. We were well aware of all of these charges as they were spelled out very clearly in the contract that we received in advance of the move. Nick took care of getting the COI to our building management and super and, once everything was picked up and loaded, there was absolutely nothing for us to do other then drive into the City and wait for our possessions. Given mid-day NYC traffic they were still on time, working straight thru the day until our job was done. As an aside, our building super and several building staff commented to me on how professional GG and his crew were and that they found them easy to work with as they handled removing all of the cartons from our apartment and coordinated with the all building employees. They thought that Elate, compared to other companies, was really at the top of their game. Bottom line is that I highly recommend Elate and if you can get George (GG) to handle your move you will be well served and happy. It does not get better than this. read more

I've had to move twice this year and used Elate Moving for both moves. Prior to each move I researched and was quoted by many moving companies in an attempt to find the best deal. I often found that many company's wanted to quote me over the phone, instead of an on-site quote, which resulted in offering me a lower quote than what I would've been charged the day of the move. Many moving companies do that as a way to lure customers in and charge them more at the end. Yuri, the Elate Moving Rep, came to my home to give me an on-site quote with no hidden fees. He provided me with different options; a comprehensive packing and move service, or a basic package. The quotes he gave me were based on a physical inspection of all our belongings, thus, there would be no additional costs at the end of treatment. Many of the other companies I had received quotes from admitted that there could be additional fees, but they wouldn't know until they came to package and move everything. The first move was from one apartment to another apartment in Northern New Jersey. The second move was an out of state move to North Carolina. For both moves, I found Elate Moving to be VERY reliable and VERY professional. During both moves, the movers worked hard, and took the time to carefully package all of our belongings and carefully place them on the truck, which resulted in nothing getting broken (even for the out of state move). During both moves they were able to accommodate me on the dates I needed materials to be picked up and delivered. For the out of state move to North Carolina, our goods were delivered on the same truck that they were originally loaded on, and the same staff who packaged our stuff was the same who delivered it to us. Many of the other companies I researched wanted to ship our stuff on a tractor trailer with the belongings of other movers, which would've increased the chance of something getting broken. Yuri was always available to be reached to answer any questions I had, or clarify something I didn't understand, and was honest and upfront from day one. Hands down the best moving experience we've ever had. We picked Elate based on other great reviews in the Montclair parents group and so happy we did! Their quote for a move from Brooklyn to Montclair was much lower than 2 other companies we considered. They even sent someone over (the super nice Martin!) to give us an accurate estimate based on how many things we had. We were scheduled for 8am, for a crew of 5 guys and one 26 foot truck. At 8:01, they were outside with 2 trucks - "just in case". We had 2 trips planned and within an hour they finished moving everything out that we had planned to take that trip. It was meticulously organized inside of the truck. The guy in charge of organizing is obviously a Tetris expert! Since we had time and space left, they suggested to take as many things as they can that we had ready to go. They handled everything super carefully and added padding between things to not let them scratch. They packed mirrors and breakables with padding and made us feel very safe that everything will arrive in one piece. The entire time they were all kind, gracious, and considerate. It really was a unique experience, quite the opposite of the cliché movers. We had them scheduled for 8 hours and they were fully done and leaving after unloading us at 5 hours. George's team was organized, fast, careful, and super nice. They made the day stress-free, and we feel so lucky that we had that experience, Instead of the normal horrible moving day we thought was coming. Tip for anyone hiring this team: they are very quick. Don't leave things for last minute thinking you'll have time to pack while they're moving things, you will not. The more organized you are, the smoother the process will go. We had all of our things color-coded with tape so they will know which room to put it into in the new house. That worked super well and we were unloaded in about half an hour. We have one more smaller trip to go but now we know we don't need to be nervous about it. I can't recommend this team enough! read more

We contacted Elate Moving after meeting with (and receiving quotes from) representatives of the bigger van lines, including Allied, Atlas, Mayflower and United. The van lines wanted a three-week window to move us from NY to BC, and would have required us to meet them at the Canadian customs office before final delivery. We also checked with a couple of smaller Canada-based movers, who basically would have taken as long to arrive for a little less money. We initially agreed to work with Atlas Van Lines, based on a guaranteed delivery window of 1-2 weeks, but they reneged on it a couple of days later and insisted on a three-week window. That is when we found Elate Moving online. Elate guaranteed delivery within less than a week and all I had to do was get my inventory stamped upon arrival at the Canadian airport, email them that stamped inventory, and they would be able to show up at our Canadian apartment as though this was an in-country move. And that is precisely how it happened! Elate loaded the truck on Monday (Feb 5), we landed in Canada on Saturday (Feb 10), a friendly CBSA officer reviewed and stamped our inventory, I scanned it with my phone and emailed it to Nick at Elate, and on Monday (Feb 12) the guys showed up at 8:30am with all our things in the same truck and condition we saw them leave our NY home. (They would have been ready to go on Sunday, but the building does not allow moves on the weekend.) With Elate, you don't have to worry about shipments being consolidated with other people's stuff in larger trucks and the associated risk of loss/damage. We were happy with the team and the overall experience. Everyone was professional and efficient, and we would recommend Elate Moving to our friends. Sure, it's a little more money than the van lines quoted, but the speed, peace of mind and easy process were worth it. It was particularly nice not to have to sleep on the floor for two weeks while waiting for our bed to arrive! read more

I highly recommend Elate for any moving job, especially in NYC where parking near the building can be a problem. These guys were great and I have never seen movers move so fast, in particular, my three guys - Paul, Igor and Nikita. They basically had it down to a science on how to wrap the furniture and how to work efficiently together. On some level, I felt bad that they were moving so fast, but it saved me in money. I had expressed my concern about going over time as I don't make a lot of money, and they really paid attention to getting things done quickly, I had pre-packed everything in boxes to save time. In packing my furniture, Paul, Igor and Nikita really took a lot of care and nothing was damaged. Igor was great at putting the ikea bed back together - it took him less than 20 minutes. Paul, Igor and Nikita were all very nice, polite and professional. That not only made me feel at ease that I wasn't getting cheated, but because of their professionalism, the supers in both buildings really liked them which helped the move go a little faster too. In terms of payment, there were no surprises. Everyone had told me that moving companies charged secret fees and don't tell you everything up front. That is not the case with Elate. Kevin laid out all the charges - the flat fee for the three hours, the fee for the COI and the additional hourly fee if I went over. I did go over because of a snafu at the building I was moving out of and not because of Elate. When the bill came, it was all as Kevin said which was great. I highly recommend Elate. Apologies G.G I couldn't write this yesterday (the apartment does not have wifi yet)! [short version at the end of this comment] I tried three different moving companies before calling Elate Moving. The first canceled on me, the other requested an absurd amount of money and the last one didn't bother to send me a follow up email. When I called Elate Moving was not expecting much at all but the man on the other line seemed to be on a mission to prove me wrong. I was able to set up an appointment in 20 minutes. He told me the price and payment methods during the call and I must say for my ask I was very satisfied with their price. G.G and his crew arrived to the apartment early and walked me through their moving process and the cost of the move. G.G was very polite and assured me everything would be handled with care. They moved everything within 40 mins (not what I expected at all). When we got to the apartment G.G and his crew helped us set up our Television and several other items in our apartment. My last movers drove all the way to Delaware with my boxes because they wanted to complete two jobs at once. They also left all my boxes outside my old apartment. This was a very nice change of pace. This review is for a move on 10/18/2014 These guys were so awesome I wish there was an extra star. This was my very first time hiring professional movers and based on all the horror stories I had heard, I was dreading the whole idea. I had to schedule my move at a very short notice, and had to schedule it for a very odd hour (7AM - 9AM). After having no luck with 15 odd moving companies, I found Elate's business card in my building and decided to give them a call. I put my blind faith in Elate and they didn't let me down. Kevin from Elate scheduled my move and he was very prompt and professional in all his communications. He gave me a quote over the phone and promised to send his best men for the job, and best they were! My movers were Vadim, Slava, and Alex, the true stars of my move. These guys were the most humble, polite, professional, and respectful guys, a far cry from my idea of typical movers. They arrived on time, and even called 10 mins before their arrival. These guys were fast and efficient, and at no point did I find them slacking or even complaining about my stuff, these guys were eager to move us. And when the job was done, which was really hard as I was moving into a third floor walk-up, these guys began to leave without so much as even uttering the word "tip". I was floored. This was one of those rare occasions when I was ecstatic about tipping someone who truly deserved it. Heck I even bought them breakfast! I haven't experienced or heard of a better moving service. I was in a bind as my new building in lower Manhattan didn't initially tell me that my moving company needed to have certain insurance and provide the paperwork proving as much before I could move in. The company I had scheduled couldn't provide the necessary paperwork, so the morning of my move day I was scrambling to find new movers. I stumbled upon Elate, and they happened to have an opening same day. Nick set me up quickly, provided the paperwork to my new building via email within minutes, and I was all set. The 2 movers showed up on time, were polite, efficient, and crafty. We ran into a few obstacles along the way, and the guys went above and beyond to make sure they got me squared away. The pricing is simple, very reasonable, and clear -- there was no bait and switch, I wasn't nickeled and dimed, and there were no hidden expenses. At the end the foreman very politely suggested that a 20% tip is typically expected at the very least, although many customers tip more, especially when there are obstacles and unexpected events during the move. He added that this of course is just guidance, and that I should tip whatever I can/think is appropriate. While urging customers to tip in many places might seem inappropriate, I get it in this industry and given the nature of their job -- and these guys couldn't have been nicer about it. I didn't feel pressured at all. I gladly tipped well over 20% and will use them if I ever move in the NYC area again. read more

I cannot thank Elate Moving enough for our recent apartment-to-apartment move within Manhattan. Slava & team (5 guys in total) were hard working, polite, quick/efficient, careful and all around fantastic. Not only were they the lowest quote I received, but they were also the only movers who said they could complete our move in one day (the rest of the companies I got quotes from said there was no way it could be done in one day...but Elate got it done no problem from full packing to loading to driving to the new building/finding parking for their truck to unloading and removing materials). Kevin, the CEO, came in person to give the original move quote, and Nicholas coordinated the move itself - both were wonderful and incredibly responsive. Not one thing was broken (everything was carefully/individually wrapped) and not one wall or any of the floors were damaged along the way. They patiently unrolled carpets and placed furniture where we wanted it, even moving the couch twice for us when we decided it didn't go where we originally thought it might (completely above and beyond and very appreciated!). We were unpacking the kitchen as fast as we could while they were still unloading the truck and they helped us to remove all of the boxes and materials that we had managed to empty by the time they were done with the job, which was nice as breaking boxes down is a time consuming part of a move. Who knew that moving didn't have to be an unpleasant experience!? I couldn't be happier to have found Elate Moving. I had reached out to multiple moving companies and Nick from Elate was the first to respond and gave me the most transparent break down of pricing which was something that none of the others did (and the quote was very reasonable). He called to confirm the arrival time of his team and our packing needs 24 hours prior. So organized! But what really amazed me was the day of. David B. and his team came in like a hurricane and packed my entire apartment up in record time with incredible efficiency and care. We had a lot of delicate items and the way I saw them packing them, my mind was at ease about them getting to their new home safely. They stuck to their estimated timeline to a T and went above and beyond in every way. Before David and his team started packing, he sat us down and explained exactly how the day was going to go, breaking down price, what kind of boxes would be used for specific items and asked us questions about our packing preferences. As for the packing itself, dinnerware was protected, items of similar kind were wrapped together, and they maximized their use of boxes which was very much appreciated since they were additional in cost. I dont know who writes the other reviews Am sharing my own direct experience. So, learn and be wise. 1. the person you talk to when you make your first phone call or email is very curt, cold to the point of being impolite. He is also downright condescending. I dont know who the owner of this Company is =.he sure hasn't called his own phone line to check how his staff is doing. If their business is growing rapidly, its certainly not due to the polite staff or amazing customer service. Its growing because there are simply much more terrible people out there. Its like do you want the snakes or the alligators- take your pick! So dont expect a polite transparent staff with quotes or contracts that they live up to. Get everything in writing, in as much granularity as you can, because the man on the phone will scoff at you, just to avoid being consistent transparent Or to give you anything in writing. Its a tactic. Dont buy into it. Dont give your credit card, because then they have you in handcuffs, waiting to bill you ANY thing for ANY excuse. You wont be able to do anything. if you take the full wrapping service its one thing. If you dont, they barely wrap anything and call it their "discretion". Remember when anything gets scratched , you have no recourse because the insurance on it is 60c/lb= useless. So what do you do? Pray. have a lot more to say but no time to say it all. read more

I am so excited to gush about how great this moving company is. I had originally booked another company but chose to cancel them two days before the move. I am so glad I did because it allowed me to move forward with Elate Moving. I called Thursday in a panic about doing a move on Saturday and spoke to Dan who helped me through the whole process. They were able to pick up all my stuff from a 1 bedroom apartment and onsite storage unit on Saturday and move it from Norwalk, CT to Durham, NC arriving the morning of the next day. AMAZING! The day of the move two men showed up and they got there early, which was fantastic. Right away they got to work taking apart the bed, wrapping it and getting it on the truck. From there they worked efficiently to get my stuff wrapped, boxes loaded and moved on to the truck. It took them about 4 hours to load up everything and they were soon on their way. On Sunday morning they arrived in Durham,NC and within two hours had the entire apartment moved in, bed setup and job done. Everything arrived in great condition. I cannot tell you what a relief it is to be able to entrust your stuff to people who take good care of your belongings as well as move your items promptly. I have told everyone I know about them and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good moving company. read more

Best movers I've ever used. Nick Miller from Elate Movers called and suggested a FaceTime Quote. Wow, such a good idea. No waiting around for someone to show for an in house quote. And no need to make an inventory list. The FaceTime quote took about 11 minutes. Disaster! The original move date was impossible. I called Elate and asked if we could change the date. Nick Miller changed the date for no extra charge. Changing the move date really help me out. Dymtro and his team of four arrived 10 minutes early. The team packed and moved my one bedroom apartment in 2 hours 8 mins. I was very surprised at their speed. They definitely have a system. Better to stay out of their way and let them do the work. On arrival, the guys were very helpful in placing the furniture and boxes. The final bill was exactly as quoted. The contract stated a flat fee. And that's what I was charged. I had heard about surprise charges from other companies. I was charged the flat fee and nothing more. I would say this was the best part. I do have a heads up. Have a cashier's check on the move date. If you use a credit card, there is a 4% surcharge. Avoid the surcharge with a cashier's check. I have no complaints. If you want to avoid headaches, this is the company to choose. read more

I made a last minute (I mean within a few hours) request to move from one apartment in my building to another and Nicholas at Elate was so helpful. He assured me he could have a crew there asap to facilitate. He was clear on pricing and options. My building, Tribeca House had them as a recommended mover so I was assured that they knew what they were doing and were well regarded. Slava and Nick arrived on time and ready to work. Both were consummate professionals and provided me with options on how to best move my high value items, clothes and food. I had little time to pack, and they were able to jump in and assist. Nothing was too big or too small to attend to. I knew immediately I had made the right choice. The following day, I had movers from Boston bringing the rest of my items and I begged Nicholas to please make Slava and Nick available to assist. He did. Had they not been here, the move would not have gotten done in the window we needed and I would not have been able to get my daughter situated - which was the most important thing to me. I felt like they were genuinely concerned with our needs and that they really cared about doing a good job. I will have them back again and would recommend them to anyone who needs to move to or within the city. read more

Elate made our moving experience much easier than we'd expected. I recommend them completely. This was a one-day, short distance move. With about 20 minutes for travel between the two locations, the entire thing took 4.5 hours. Our 3 man team of Nikita, Igor, and Roni was quick, courteous, and professional. We paid by the hour, and were concerned that the movers might try to take more time than necessary, but we could not have been more wrong. We ended up spending less than we'd expected - which was significantly less than the flat rates we were seeing from other companies. We had packed all of our things previously, so the guys only had to move furniture and boxes (and TV). They wrapped everything as needed, and none of the boxes were thrown around - which was another thing we'd been worried about. (We did end up purchasing an additional box from them, for the TV.) Leading up to the move, we were in touch with Nicholas, who responded promptly and clearly to all of our questions. THE ONLY THING I would recommend is to review all of the information with the head of your team. Somehow, they had an incorrect phone number and new address. Fortunately, Nikita reviewed that info with me and we straightened everything out before it became an issue. read more

These movers were phenomenal. Compared to another moving company we had used in the past, these guys were less expensive AND more efficient. AND we had a lot more stuff this time around. Plus, they took care of everything as if it was their own stuff. We packed most of our belongings in Gorilla Bins which made things really easy to move in and out. For our larger items, we just assumed they would put them in the truck and all would be well. We had wrapped our TV in a blanket with packing tape, but other than that, we didn't do any prep work for our bigger items. We had wrapped some things in plastic wrap to ensure drawers didn't fall open and stuff like that, but they double and triple wrapped a few more items. They wrapped more fragile items in their own moving blankets to make sure they arrived safely without any damage. Our couch, our kitchen table, stools, TV - anything that could have ended up with some sort of damage was taken care of remarkably. The guys themselves were very efficient and respectful. The entire move from Kensington (Brooklyn) to the East Village (Manhattan) took 3.5 hours and nothing was damaged. I could not recommend these guys more! read more

I used Elate to move from NYC to semi-rural Maryland (sad). I had originally booked a different company, but Kevin the CEO matched and then beat the price of the other company. He came and did an in-person quote when I expressed concern about added charges on the moving day. My movers Paul and Igor(?) were polite and hard-working, taking care to carefully wrap my not that great furniture and remember in which rooms it was placed, placing it in the analogous rooms at my new apartment. They were even conscientious about tracking mud into my new apartment. Kevin is very responsive and hard-working. Don't be put off by what might initially be read as pushiness on his part. He's obviously very ambitious and wants to grow his company. PS--The movers were early on moving day! PPS--I hate to say it, but as a single woman moving on her own, I was extra vigilant regarding getting ripped off. I feel comfortable that I got a good deal from Elate, and I know that the service was great. PPPS--They did same-day on my long-distance move and still beat the price of all of the movers I was considering. I got one quote that was lower, but it was so low that I didn't trust it. read more

We do not have enough nice things to say about Elate Moving - especially Kevin (CEO), Nikita and Igor. Our great experience began when we met with Kevin who was quick and efficient providing us a fair price - even beating the best price we had from another company on the spot. Elate is easy to communicate with and was adaptable to changes in our scheduling. During the actual move, Nikita and Igor were amazing and did a fabulous job with everything! They were very easy to be around, hardworking and extremely professional. They wrapped everything up perfectly and were a pleasure to work with. They are extremely skilled and had everything moved out quickly (including wrapping all of our furniture - even a very heavy leather couch that we didn't think would be able to be moved & they did it without a second glance). We could not have been more impressed! Before finding Elate, we were nervous about the move considering how many bad/unfair moving companies there are in the city but after would hands-down recommend them to anyone who is moving! We are scheduling them again now for our new move & will definitely be using them again and again!! read more
