Elate was there again for me. This being my 3rd move since 2019 with them. Two apartments with tough management and loading... and now to my forever house. The boys led by Daniel this week were excellent! They communicated well from the minute they started loading in storage to the last box off of the truck. Each time I've paid exactly what I expected with little issue. Great crews and made us feel at ease. Thanks again Elate!

    Piano being moved in

Slava's team was incredible. They are efficient and proficient in what they do. They used extreme care and wrapped our furniture with precision. They were punctual and didn't stop working the whole day. I'm glad we hired them and will hire them again in the future. We also had a piano in the move which is no easy task and they handled it with extreme care.

Leaf (2) extended in a fixed position, no longer retractable, as purchased.

My items were broken by the movers: My dining table, which because of my confinement to a wheelchair, was carefully selected for ease in going from a small table that I could access in my chair easily and equally easily was equipped with a one-handed operation to extend the leaves. Two of the movers deliberately disassembled the table and mechanism (beyond the shipping configuration of 2 pieces), into 3 pieces as I protested, watching in horror, with the entire leaf extension mechanism - screws, nuts, and bolts - removed with no photos or notes taken to reassemble. Upon delivery to my new residence several states away, the SAME individual movers (Ben and Max)could not reassemble table to perform as purchased - leaves were wildly tilted and inches from center glass. When told it was unacceptable they tried to claim that the table left my origin in that condition - totally untrue and they had not even tried to extend before taking it apart. The two men were trying incompetently to fix the mechanism for hours, only making the table worse and worse. Several washers were found on the floor near where they were working on the table. Their next effort resulted in extended leaves level but with a 1 in gap and tried to pass that off as fine. I found the table online with a video showing how table worked after which they again disassembled it, then fixed the extended leaves so they would no longer retract beneath and table was fixed in extended position which is too large for my wheelchair to clear to pass through the room. They refused to accept a partial payment to cover replacing the nearly new table and called local police. An officer arrived and tried repeatedly to ask them what their policy in situations such as this was and they had no answer. The officer demanded they leave my property and pursue the matter in civil court. A management individual phoned the next day to ask for complete payment promising to have the table professionally repaired. I overnighted a check for the entire balance of the moving cost believing, foolishly the management individual would stand behind his promise. Weeks and countless calls were made by myself with the result ending in Elate sending an individual over a month later who concluded the Elate movers should never have disassembled the table in the first place - of course!. As this individual was also an employee of Elate he assured me that he would make this clear to management - that this was an intentional destruction of my property - but management then finally, weeks after my move, said they were sending me what amounted to less than 12% of the amount I paid for the table, with this comment "I'm sorry that our handyman couldn't repair your damaged item. We tried going an extra mile here but that route doesn't always lead to success..."! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! They also broke the brakes off my pool lift, which cannot be repaired and removed the batteries from my empty safe, which canceled the keypad code, and forced me to go to the manufacturer to obtain an access key. Why? These guys are dumb as stumps, and do not compensate you for their mistakes and damages. I'm still waiting for that check.

Ask the Community - Elate Moving

Do you have a minimum fee or minimum number of hours you charge for?

Yes. Minimum fee for local moves is $750 for 2 men/3hrs of labor.

Were you charged for the time it takes them to travel from their location to your building and back to their location? That wasn't explained to me beforehand by Kevin or the manager, so it was a surprise.

There were no hidden fees. I was charged the same price as the quote I was given online when I was booking them.

I want to post an update to my prior review…read more As bad as the moving experience was, Piece of Cake Movers completely changed my view when it came time to address the issues I raised afterward. Emily handled my concerns with professionalism, fairness, and real diligence. She could not have been nicer. She listened, took the issues seriously, and worked through them in a way that felt fair and respectful. My original concerns about the move itself remain what they were. But I also recognize that any business of this size can occasionally have a bad crew or a bad experience in the field. What matters is how the company responds when that happens. Here, the response after the move was excellent. Credit is due where credit is due: the post-move customer service, especially from Emily, was outstanding. For that reason, I am giving the company 5 stars for how it handled the aftermath and resolved the issues. I will use them the next time I move. Emily was that good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you, Emily.

I rarely write bad reviews (feel free to check out my others reviews, which are all positive)…read more However, I cannot not warn others in this instance. I had my purse with $980 in the zippered compartment in one of our bathrooms where we were storing the stuff we didn't want moved. The movers were told this on multiple instances. The movers had zero reason to be in that room and did not ask permission to enter it. Had they done so we would have asked them to use the other bathroom. I know the movers were in there because the toilet seat was up and there was urine in the toilet when I went in. I am female and my fiancé is completely blind and has to sit to pee and doesn't put up the seat. When I went to tip the movers, the cash was gone from my purse. No one besides myself, my fiancé and the movers were inside the apartment since I'd taken out the cash the previous evening. I informed the company immediately. They did nothing about it, claiming they questioned the crew who denied it. As if they'd confess to stealing about a grande. Please learn from my mistake and either avoid this company. Or at least keep your cash on your person and lock any doors the crew should not be entering. Personally this is the last time I will be using them as trust should be a priority particularly with a company you are handing your belonging. In case it helps, the head of the crew was named Alik (that spelling may be incorrect) and the license plate number on the truck was 79759NG.

This year has been a lot of moving for me, and moving is so stressful. I've heard great reviews…read morefrom my nyc friends about roadway moving, so I decided to get a quote from them. After talking to them, I knew I wanted to go with them. Their customer service, attention to details, and organization are 5-star levels. One thing that really stood out to me was that instead of asking me how many boxes I need, they asked me to send them pics of my place and stuff, and they calculated the number of small, medium and large boxes I need. It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

Before they even arrived, I got a tracking link to follow their location just like Uber, which immediately made me feel at ease. Crisanto and his crew showed up right on time and were incredible. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with. This was hands down the easiest move I've ever had. If you are debating which moving company to use, this is your sign. Go with them.

All three were young, but very composed and clearly experienced (definitely learned a lot of moving hacks from them). Emil handled disassembling and reassembling our king‑size bed frame and crib effortlessly (something our last movers really struggled with), and the team even came the day before to help pack about half our boxes so that moving day would go quickly. They worked fast, stayed organized, and took great care with everything. At our new apartment, they navigated two separate elevators with ease and got every piece of furniture right where it needed to go. And the cherry on top--they even made sure the loose dollar bills my wife had lying around were safely packed into our boxes! That level of honesty and attention to detail really stood out. Couldn't recommend Perfect Moving Co. more highly. They turned what could have been a stressful move into a genuinely positive experience.

Based on my estimates of the time the job would take, they were much cheaper than any of the 5 other companies we got quotes from. In the end though, the job did take longer than expected. They used three employees and a large truck. They provided blankets, plastic wrap, and tape to properly protect all items for transport. If they noticed any preexisting damage on the furniture, they notified us promptly so we were aware. Initially, they worked quite efficiently, but began to slow down during the second half of pick-up. What I thought would take about 4 hours ended up being a 6 hour job, including a 45 minute drive to the new place. They still came in cheaper than the next best quote we were considering, but not by much. When they finished the move, they left a mountain of tape, plastic, and cardboard, which they supplied, in our hallway. We thought they would clean it up before leaving, but we were left with that task, which was disappointing. They require a $50 + tax deposit to reserve a move. You pay the balance after all the work is done. They offer a discount if you pay in cash. Overall, they were professional and moving is grueling work so I have no major complaints, other than the debris they left behind. But be mindful that the time-based quote may add up, so be prepared to spend more than you might anticipate.
