I LOVE THE ELDERWOOD! It's always such a great experience coming here. The food is always great, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is so nice and elegant. I enjoy coming here on my own or with a few friends. I always dine outside on the patio. The view of downtown Visalia is always a great view. The menu is simple and easy to choose something. I always try to choose something different when I come here. The food is delicious. Must try if you haven't!

We drove from MERCED to try the Aldworth after seeing it on ABC 30s dine and Dish program. We were ecstatic about the menu. We had a birthday lunch at midday I look forward to coming back for a sunset dinner. Service was great. Food was amazing. Presentation was awesome.

The food here is so delicious! Well worth the wait as quality food takes time so make sure you show up and not in a rush because the food is worth it! Located in a historic hotel, this place features outdoor seating and a cool bar inside. Definitely try the hot honey chicken sandwich if you're in for lunch or the eggs Benedict for breakfast!

I made plans to come and see my friend and we talked about doing a little Galantines dinner since I live in a different state so she gave me three different options and I chose here, the menu looked great and the location seemed prime so we made reservations back In February to come on Thursday March 5th, 2026 at 7:30pm. Elderwood is located in the darling hotel in downtown Visalia on the rooftop, it's a small beautiful location with indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to sit outside the weather was nice but there was a bit of a breeze we asked of a heater could be brought closer to us in which it did when we were done with our dinner. My friend and I dressed up nice only to find people wearing sweatshirts sweats, jeans and whatever else they found in their closet next time I know I can just come as I am, but hey we dressed up to feel good and look out best and we did! Our server wasn't very attentive she only had one other table outside and didn't seem to engaged we started by splitting a Caesar salad and ordered a lemon drop martini, we sat and chatted then she took our entree order in which we both ordered the roasted chicken. The food came and it was absolutely delicious incredible flavor the chicken wasn't dry, we continued to catch up the server came by when we half way through our meal to check on us, we did have another drink with our dinner, the lemon drops were fantastic. Overall location was prime food and drinks were excellent and service was mediocre at best but again why do I even have my hopes up for? I need to go in expecting less so when it actually is average at best I won't be disappointed like I am, like I said in this economy if I'm willing to spend my money at least act like to you care to help is that too much to ask?

First timer! Came for brunch with my friend, our waitress was so sweet and suggested a mocktail for my friend she loved. Passed all the vibes, will def be back

Have been here multiple times for happy hour. We just moved here a few months ago and so far this is the best espresso martini we have had in the Central Valley! The pork belly bites were delicious too!

Such a nice restaurant and the food is amazing! The pork belly is unreal. The staff are very helpful and nice. It's a very nice experience and the seating is gorgeous. Not a single bad seat. I got the steak and the mac and cheese side and it was incredible! Would go here again 10/10.

Parking 10/10- plenty of parking next to the hotel that took about 50 steps (could be more with these short legs). Inside 10/10- Just amazing and comfortable in the inside as is outside. Outside is better due to the fresh air Service 10/10- Well dressed, neat and clean professional with great smiles and giving the customers they enjoy their job attitude. Food 10/10- Fresh, affordable and beautiful Ambiance 10/10- Beautiful outdoor patio seating with warmers around the tables, plants and the fog just created a whole new experience. A beautiful building taking up a whole block in downtown Visalia for passerby's has a hidden brunch spot. Inside The Darling Hotel is Elderwood Restaurant serving super strong mimosas, fresh delicious food and friendly smiles. By far one of the best service I've received in town when dining out. Your wallet wouldn't be disappointed neither. If you're ever in town and in search for a great brunch spot look no further. Elderwood to the rescue with not a wide range menu items therefore making it easier for the indecisive hungry foodie like me. I am glad I was dragged there instead of a Waffle House Thank you again for the wonderful experience Elderwood and staffs.

My first time going here was amazing. I got salmon which came with forbidden rice and it was phenomenal. I thought about it continually for months. The reason I gave 4 stars is because the second time I went I got a different salmon dish and it was way too rich. The rice cake helped a little, but I was extremely disappointed after having such a great first meal there. But the side of potatoes was so delicious. The cheesecake was also good. My dad liked his dish. I can't remember which pasta he got. I would return but would not get that salmon dish again.

We stayed at the hotel so it was convience to just go up to the roof top for dinner on the 5th floor. We love the art deco vibes, probably one of the nicest restaurant in town. Beautiful bar and a cozy dining room, howeverwe choose to sit outside by the fire pit to enjoy the roof top view. We were sitted promptly even without reservation. Both host and server were friendly. We order drinks and salad and a few small bites, the pork belly was my favorite. The shrimps were a bit salty. I like the salad as well, tender chicken, balance dressing and really like the roasted grapes added in there. Overall it was solid and a great place for dinner if you are on your way to Sequoia and Kings Caynon NP.

We have eaten at the Elderwood in the past and found it overpriced and underwhelming. We hadn't been back in a couple of years but heard that they had made some changes so we decided to try it again. Our most recent visit was a much better experience. The ambiance was nice as usual but the food was much better than it used to be. The menu had a broader selection than before and the quality and flavors were a welcomed improvement. The bar has great drinks and a great selection of zero proof cocktails if you are not a big alcohol drinker. The service was pleasant as usual and with the new menu the Elderwood is now one of our favorite restaurants in the area. If you haven't been in a while I'd recommend giving them another try. I can easily see us becoming regulars here. Do they have high chairs?

They have high top tables if that is what you mean, but I did not notice infant high chairs if that is what you mean.

Is there an elevator to the restaurant or do you have to take stairs?

Hi there! Thanks for your question and the responses. Yes, there is a main hotel elevator as well…

Will you be open on New Years Eve?

Hi Diane! Yes, we will be open on New Year's Eve. You can make your reservations online at elderwoodvisalia.com. And if you're interested, stay tuned for more information…

I don't believe they have a kids menu but I have taken my son here and there was no problem. I've seen families during Sunday brunch bring their kids as well

It's a small brown building with a small parking lot next to it. It's nice though that its open at 0630 so that the nightshift hospital staff can come here and decompress or send me off on my last day. First thing you notice about this place is the smell of urine from the bathrooms. You get use to it after a bit. As well as the "regulars" hanging out at the bar area. It's extremely small. Area for a pool table, some tables at the far end by the bathrooms, and a long bar counter. At least the tvs are nice and clear and big to watch games or sports as need be. There was a good 18 of us here. Prices are rediculously cheap. I'm glad they understand it's a dive bar and should thus be dive bar prices. A michelada was $4. A mimosa was $5. Bag of chips was $1. They have these sour candy shots for $4. The sour candy shots were really good. Michelada was simple. Bloody Mary mix with beer. But they were well made. I also had a crown royal apple with redbull that was really good. I don't remember how many drinks we went thru but it did the job and we were all feeling good. Customer service is good. Dude working behind the bar worked fast. I hear this place is pretty good when the sun is up, but has a pretty rough reputation at night with lots of shady people coming in at night. I definitely wouldn't come in here by my self even in the day time. But with a large group it's pretty cool. Nice and cheap. If you don't mind the urine smell and dilapidated look.

Miguel was our waiter and he was amazing! All his suggestions were spot on and he explained everything on the menu as soon as he came to our table. Scallops were tender and flavorful and were a decent size. Only came with 3 but was more than enough for 2 to share. Octopus was also cooked to perfection. Also tender and not chewy like most places. Best part was the crispy potatoes. A little salty for my palate but still good. Ribeye with bone marrow butter was probably one of the better steaks we've had at a restaurant. Just the right amount of fat to meat and tender enough to cut with a butter knife. One thing I can appreciate is it didn't have that nasty piece of tendon that runs through most ribeyes u get at restaurants and grocery stores. Also had the Dungeness crab cake with risotto. Not really a fan of risotto but the flavors melded well and was divine! Service wasn't bad for a Saturday night without long waits between appetizers and entrees and all the staff were nice and pleasant. A bit pricey but definitely worth it for a special occasion or a long needed date night!
