    Riesling
    Penelope J. L.

Nice hotel bar with excellent service. Bartenders are attentive and friendly, especially Zarina and Cory. I enjoyed a CA Riesling. Bar is quiet, except when sporting events are televised and patrons yell at the TV. Bar is several miles out of Visalia urban area but is just off the main highway.

    Behold the asparagus!

Vegetables were over cooked and got the bottom of asparagus that were over cooked to be soft ordered my steak "WELL DONE" to be safe and it's practically mooing at me still have to eat tho No flavor in potatoes Won't be back unless I'm hungry

This restaurant is located inside the Wyndham Hotel. It's one of the nicer wyndhams I have seen and although the restaurant is older and in need of good scrub down the bartender/server was really nice. I had the stuffed jalapeños and the stuffed avocados. Both were great! There's nothing really around there so I will be back next time I'm in the area.

Poppers with the meat and cheese plate... good bar grub....

As a restaurant owner like myself if I could take Kao and place him as a manager for my bar, I feel like my customers would never go unsatisfied.

They had a special featuring three gin drinks and every one we tried was phenomenal. My favorite was the Flower Power, but the Nekocha was absolutely amazing. We started with the baked feta and Kalamata olive tapenade, which was rich, creamy, and delicious. For entrées, the NY strip was cooked perfectly and paired beautifully with the red wine reduction. The roasted chicken was incredibly moist and complemented well by the sautéed spinach and shiitake mushrooms. The sunset view made the evening even better. We were so full we had to skip the celebration dessert, which says a lot because we definitely would have ordered one otherwise! If you're looking for a place that feels a little elevated and don't mind spending a bit more for a relaxed dining experience and excellent food, this is definitely worth a visit.

We got the spicy shrimp appetizer,12 oz New York strip, the lobster with mash potato's and Mac and cheese. Food was okay, price tag was steep for the quality. Especially considering, the "from the grill" section did not come with a side had to be ordered separate and food came out lukewarm but flavor was good (except the mash potato's they were bland). Drinks were good. Additional note: having bathroom lights that are on sensors, don't work well for people in stalls. Having to sit in a dark restroom while using the facilities is not an enjoyable experience. Two stars because the overall vibe is decent and drinks are good. Food is just ok for a luxury price and staff is not set up for success.

I'd just happened to see a PBS special on Visalia a few months prior to my stay and learned of The Darling and its fabulous rooftop restaurant, Elderwood. I knew right away that this was the place for me. Delightful accommodations. Absolutely beautiful room - and bathroom! All the little touches make a big difference, like the self-serve coffee/tea/water bar and the in-room complimentary snacks and water. Don't miss the restaurant upstairs! I enjoyed an early breakfast my first morning there and dinner the next night. (See my separate review for Elderwood.) Never thought I'd say that I forward to returning to Visalia but I'll coming rushing back to The Darling when I do!

Room service was good quality, appropriately priced and arrived quickly. The only reason I couldn't give this 5 stars was there was no internal secondary lock on the door which made it feel a little unsafe as a solo traveler and also there were not clear instructions about how to enter the gated parking lot upon checking in. Otherwise I had a good stay and would consider visiting again just to eat at the restaurant.

I ordered salmon, which was a very large piece of salmon and it looked delightful, but no flavor at all. It was overcooked so it was a bit dry and I could tell without even asking that this was farm raised pre-frozen salmon. This was not a $30 slice of salmon. It was served on a bed of lettuce.. the lettuce was crisp and fresh and there was an egg included, which was a bit chewy for a hard boiled egg so it was overcooked as well. There were several large slices of tomatoes, which were just too big and probably should've been diced up and served appropriately. There was also some large slices of cucumber and a big slice of onion. There was one little bread stick. It just did not and was not suitable for a restaurant of this caliber/price range. i'd have to say I was very disappointed. The value of the food did not match the price tag. Conclusively very disappointed of this $40 salad.

I hate to be negative it sure seems like that's what I do a lot because the businesses today really need to get their act in order this one included. One of my favorite parts though is the pastries they bring out -- such a nice touch and always super good. I also tried their cappuccino and it was just okay, nothing amazing but not bad either.
