This Dr. yelled at me to keep my legs still when they were trembling minutes after I delivered my baby naturally, saying she would not be able to "stitch me up" nicely if I could not control my body! This came moments after she arrived late in my delivery room while the nurses scrambled to get her in and begged me to hold my baby in so the doctor could be present. She was incredible curt and rude with my husband and doula (even though I presented her with a birth plan) and she was not a presence I wanted near my new born. I should have heeded the warning signs -- she was always rushed and borderline rude with any questions. On one occasion snapped at my husband when he asked a good question. Used several scare tactics -- "small pelvis, big baby" (not a big baby by the way!) -- and I hear she does this to all her patients. On the positive side her staff is very kind and efficient, the Huntington is a great place to deliver and I almost never had to wait for my appointment. But she almost made my very positive experience a nightmare. And when I returned to have her check out my sutures -- she had the hubris to say "Wow, it looks good, I do a great job, lucky you"! Most of the staff are great, and Dr. Leung has been good, but her office person Priscilla is very rude - in person and over the phone - and Dr. Leung's handling of her staff is a deal breaker for me. In my interactions with Priscilla, and hearing her on the phone with others, she seems to always have a chip on her shoulder or she does not like her job/is just not good at it. She uses a condescending tone, and is always trying to rush me when I am seeking clarification in person or over the phone. Today I had enough and asked to speak to Dr. Leung about the matter. Dr. Leung does not seem at all concerned that her staff is rude. She said that she (Dr. Leung) is too busy with the medical aspect of her practice, and that Priscilla and others handle billing/insurance matters. My response: "your staff is the face of your practice and a reflection on you." I am very late in my pregnancy, but I am strongly considering switching doctors over this incident. Even though office staff don't deliver the babies and are not at the hospital during delivery, their treatment of patients, inability/ability to do their jobs, and/or the doctor's management of staff does matter to me because it impacts how comfortable I am, and, when someone is going to deliver my baby, I need to be comfortable/happy with them. This is my first baby, and I am disappointed. Definitely a lesson to interview doctors AND staff before coming on board as a patient (even though this doctor was recommended to us my a co-worker). Again, Dr. Leung has been good, but this staff member and Dr. Leung's indifference to this staff member's lack of professionalism has been a major damper in my experience with her. I am not surprised by the love/hate going on here. If you are looking for some touchy feely TV doctor to deliver your baby, she may not be for you. I felt questions were put off sometimes. Looking back, the good ones were answered and the stupid, emotionally needy pregnant woman ones were brushed off. She did her job EXCELLENTLY. I went into labor on a Sunday night and my baby was born on a Tuesday morning. There was no c-section pressure. I did end up with one because the corn was around my daughter's neck and she couldn't come out of the birth canal. I had no problem with my c-section or scarring. It was a phenomenal procedure and I had an excellent recovery. Will I use Dr. Leung for #2? If I have to have a c-section, yes. I'll see what my options are then. It'd be nice to be coddled more but it was also nice having a potentially scary birth be handled with surgical precision. read more

The only reason why I gave this a 2nd star is because we actually like Dr Leung. She's quick to the point and overall nice. Her staff on the other hand is a nightmare.. and its really not the entire staff, just the cow in the front named Nadine. She's full of bitterness, she's rude and sour. A horrible person! Dr. Leung is great. She is friendly, welcoming, and efficient. She sometimes seems to be in a hurry, but that's alright! She never makes me feel rushed, and I never have to wait long to be seen. I am comfortable asking her any questions I have. However, THE RECEPTIONISTS (particularly the one wearing the red scrubs in the photos) ARE SO RUDE. Always unpleasant over the phone and in person. Very interesting to read Dr. Leung's review. I do understand both sides, but I am more toward positive reviews. 1. Regular visit time Dr. Leung is very quick. That makes some patients feel being rushed. My friend complained about it too. That makes her not being taken cared of well. I somewhat agree. I had a lot of questions (later I learned answers of those questions are easily found in books) during my first pregnancy, and I wanted to be treated very special. I found a parenting class or support group is more useful to get answers and/or emotionally supported. Dr. is a doctor, not a friend, this is what I think. She examines your body, and mentions the fact. When things are normal, she is quick. But once she finds problems, she spends more time. She found a problem of my pregnancy in the 9th weeks. Since then she spent time more checking on me. Dr. always gives you a chance to ask questions. So prepare questions before your visit. I always brought my list of questions, she answered them in a kind manner. 2. Dr. Leung does not like men? My case was not. My hubby always went to visit with me, and she spoke with him more than me regarding my conditions. When I was alone in the room at the hospital, even she looked for my hubby. From her experience she knew exactly where he was!!! It was a great help! 3. Dr. Leung likes C-section? Since I scheduled to have a surgery a month after delivery, I asked whether I could have two surgeries at once (indirect way to ask a C-section). But she said no. Reason: C-section is a major surgery than people think -- has to cut my belly at least a few inches. (Why do you want to have an unnecessary major surgery?) The other surgery does not need to cut my belly that much or even no need to upon the situation. 4. Dr. Leung does not listen to patients? She has her own opinion on certain medical issues. Most of her decision is from Medical association's guideline. I had an disagreement with her as well. She provided information of risks of my decision and was not happy about it, but she let me do what I wanted to do. After having a few days to think and research, I decided to follow her advice. In my case, she listened to me, and I listened to her, and that was how Dr. and I resolved the disagreement. 5. Dr. Leung and natural delivery I agree if you want a natural no drug delivery, Dr. Leung may not be the one. I think she is not against the natural delivery when patients condition is good. She is not a supporter of natural delivery once risks involved. She asked me to how I would I want to deliver in my earlier visit. But once she found problems, she took it back. 6. Dr. Leung does not like on-call? I disagree. When my due date came, and I had pains due to other condition, I made calls at night, she called me back right away. She also advised me when I could not take pain any more, just get admitted at hospital any time without wasting time to reach her (hospital would page her.) She checked on me very early morning (6am?) during the weekend after surgeries until she was sure I would be OK. 7. Nurse is nice Most people seem to like the nurse there and have no problem with her. Yes, I like her very much. She is very professional and kind. 8. Office staff is not very good. My experience was not very good neither. They are good people to have a small talk. When it comes with work, they don't want to do. Dr. Leung even directly requested them to do, but they did not do. But my experience with other doctors' office, they are not very very bad. Maybe quality of office staff at doctors office in general may not very good. 9. Billing problems I have no problem of billing. I had a test after delivery, but had to do it again due to lack of sample collected. They called me for co-pay of the retest. I questioned about it, and the problem resolved quickly. No need to pay. read more

Dr. Leung: 5 stars Receptionist: ZERO STARS Today, late morning, I accompanied my good friend to her doctor's appointment. While I waited for her in the reception area a pregnant young lady walked in and the receprionist seemed rude with her. This lady sat next to me, she immediately got on her cell phone and was complaining to someone. A few moments later another expecting woman walked in and the receptionist, again, was rude and not very welcoming or friendly. She sat next to the lady sitting next to me. I overheard their conversation and they were both sharing how rude the receptionist was and has been in the past. I heard them say she is always in a bad mood. When my friend came out I shared what I had witnessed, she agreed the receptionist is not very friendly. I am appauld how someone whose job is to receive (already stressed) pregnant woman can hold such a position??? As I understand, Dr. Leung accepts only PPO insurance, which is not cheap. So these hard working people paying extra for their insurance get treated like that, which I find totally unacceptable. I gave Dr. Leung five stars per my friend's request but I personally feel the RECEPTIONIST GETS ZERO STARS!! She needs to find a job where she is not working with the public. read more

I cannot praise Dr. Leung enough. She is an amazing, caring, and dedicated physician that I recommend to every woman in the greater Pasadena area. If it were not for Dr. Leung I would not be here today to raise my beautiful daughter. Dr. Leung saved my life and not a single day goes by that I don't thank God that she was my doctor. Not only did she take AMAZING care of me she was kind, thoughtful and honest with my family during this stressful time. Even after I was moved to the cardiac floor (5 days after the birth) she came to visit me every single day. That is 10 days, 5 of which I was no longer under her care, she came to see me. How many people have doctors that would do that? I am guessing the there are VERY few. I would also like to say that have been a patient at both the old and new location and staff is just as wonderful now as they were then. I have being seeing Dr Leung for almost three years. I actually really like her. Very glad I had her for the birth of my baby boy. The three stars are for the billing. My insurance company pays for circumcision up to a month. Dr Leung was going on vacation right after deilvering my baby so she could not do it that day. I was told to schedule a appointment when she came back. No problem. When I had my appointment I was told I had to pay $250 up front until the insurance paid. Again no problem. Only the insurance doesn't pay the office $250 but $80. So I get a check 3 months later for only $80. When I called I got the run around. Dr Leung is a really good doctor. Bad! Bad! Bad! Word cannot express my feeling about this physician. I am 27 years old and my husband and I are trying for our first baby. I got off the pill in August of last year and was having regular periods. I missed my period for February and March, but we were getting negative home pregnancy tests. I made an appointment with Dr. Leung and figured we would find out if we were preggo. First of all, she came in the room looking all rushed. I gave her a whole medical history: Ovarian Cyst in 1995 (age 10), HPV which led to stage IV pre-cancer cells on my cervix, which I had surgery for in 2009. All my paps having been normal and I haven't experienced any problems with my period since being off the pill. The first thing she said to me was, YOU'RE NOT PREGNANT. I was like...ok...so....then? She said that I was overweight, which was causing me to not ovulate. What?! I know i'm a size 14, but that's ridiculous, I've never had an ovulation problem. Then she went on to scare the crap out of me saying that I might have a tumor in my brain that causing me not to ovulate, that she is going to want to have my husband tested to make sure he doesn't have a problem and that I should lose weight before I get pregnant, because I'm only going to get bigger. I was so blownaway I could even be mad. I walked out of that office crying and dissapointed. I will NEVER go back to her again. She is having all this bloodwork ran and if it comes back that I am pregnant, I'm staying far far away from her. read more

She helped me all throughout my pregnancy with my daughter :) Very kind and was supportive of my birth plan while offering other options. I felt comfortable during every appointment and she helped me choose the birth control that was suitable for me after I had my daughter! (I decided to have an IUD inserted.) She and her staff are knowledgeable, caring, and will not sugarcoat anything. There are reviews that say she is judgemental but I walked into her office when I was 16 and pregnant and they were always welcoming! They are very careful and made my pregnancy more enjoyable because I knew my baby was taken care of. I can't believe that she only gets 3star, she deserve 5 star in my opinion... It has been 3 months since I switch over to Dr. Leung from Dr. Mercado from Women's health in Arcadia. Dr. Leung is by far the most caring, gentle, awesome bedside manners I have ever encountered. I had a 6lbs (1 size of jackfruit and 3 size of lemon) 6inch fibroid that was taken out by Dr. Leung. I'm so grateful that I switch over since I was getting frustrated w/ my old OBGYN. Doctor Leung delivered our son in May 2017, she is an excellent and knowledgeable doctor and I would (and have) recommended her to anyone looking for an OB. Leading up to the delivery she was very straight forward and honest. Appointment wait time was minimal and no time was wasted while inside. I appreciated her efficiency during the appointment, but she never made us feel rushed and always took time to answer questions, no matter how small. The office staff is also delightful and helpful when answering questions. Dr. Leung helped me to understand that every delivery story is unpredictable and not to get to attached to one single "birth plan". I feel like I have to come in and defend Dr. Leung, because my husband and I both had a great experience with her. I delivered vaginally and had some minor complications, but never felt like she was trying to force a c-section on me. For the first 36 weeks, I had a pretty normal pregnancy, so when we went to see her, we would go in and out in 20 min. But I like that. We were going to see her so often, why waste an hour or more if there are no problems? And we did a lot of research with books and online at home, so when we went we didn't have too many questions. I feel like she's the type of doctor that expects you to do your homework and she's going to give you all the information, but will let you make your own decisions. We declined all the screening tests in the first trimester and also many of the ultrasounds and she was fine with that. My husband came to all the appointments and she would make it a point to ask him if he had any questions too, which I thought was nice. At 36 weeks, I got diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and she sent me straight to the hospital. I think you really get the best of Dr Leung at the end when it really counts. After being diagnose and getting a slew of minor complications, she was always on top of things, in the hospital, she knew all the nurses and would see me often. We talked about our birth plan and what I wanted and she was very supportive. She said, we'll do our best, but when the time comes we just have to take a look at the situation and decide what the best course of action is. And really, what more can you ask for. We never had a problem with insurance or billing. And I don't think it's odd that they ask you to pay your co-pays before you see the doctor. In the end, I think if you want someone no-nonsense and you know you will be doing research on your own, then this is the doctor for you. read more

Most doctors can handle routine exams and procedures without complications so t is during difficult times and emergency situations that you can really judge if a doctor is better than others. Dr.Leung saved my life on the operating table. I feel lucky to have her as my doctor. It is easy to get an appointment, she never runs late, and she is very very thorough. She has always answered all my questions and she made me feel really comfortable. I have been seeing Dr. Leung for about four years now. She was the OB GYN who delivered a friend's baby and I met her at the hospital after the baby was born. I like Dr. Leung very much. I disagree with reviews who think she doesn't listen. I know how it feels to not be listened to by doctors (don't we all, especially women?) but have never had that experience with her. She does talk fast but I have no problems understanding her (I am from NYC and probably talk fast also so...). Speaking fast and having a lot of energy does not equate to not caring to me. I would give five stars but for the occasional irritation with the office staff. I can't say they are unique as they are very much like the office staff in many doctor's offices: limited customer service skills, especially on the phone. In person they are better and the aides are fine. But I too was overbilled in error, an honest mistake, and they wouldn't even take a message for the billing person for me. It would have been so simple but they insisted, even though I practically begged, that I call back in the afternoon. I work for a living folks and am in meetings 75% of my day. I can't call back then. But they would NOT take a message and were quite short. It's a silly thing but I wish more physicians would pay attention to how their office staff treat patients. I know I have left doctors before because of poor administrative staff that just made it not worth it any more. All that said, I will stick with Dr. Leung because I like her. read more

I started with Dr Leung for my pregnancy this summer, due to the positive Yelp reviews. I did not focus on the negative reviews which I should have. At 7 months pregnant I let her know that we had hired a doula because we were first time parents. The doula had mentioned we should be educated about pitocin because it is given during labor. So I asked Dr Leung if and when pitocin was administered. Here is where it got crazy. She did not like that we had hired a doula and suddenly started yelling at me in the office. She asked why we were going to the doula for medical advice and not her. I had to argue back to justify our decision. Wow. I had never been yelled at by a doctor. Keep in mind she had no problem yelling at a 7 month pregnant woman. She tried to ease off before the appointment was over, but I knew right then that there is no way I would be trusting her with my pregnancy. I just have to reiterate over a year after my last review how fantastic Dr Leung and her staff are. My previous review was related to my first pregnancy, which for all intents and purposes, was a breeze. I just went through the worst experience of my life on my second pregnancy, and I would not have wished for any doctor besides Dr Leung to be at my side through it. Pretty much, it was because of Dr Leung's experience and expertise that she identified a condition in my baby that most doctors would miss if they didn't give you the attention she does on every visit. She did an ultrasound, got a perinatologist's second opinion, and had us in the high risk unit Our baby was very sick, and from the minute she had a slight suspicion, Dr Leung created the most amazing team of professionals to give me the best chance at saving our child. She is a fantastic doctor when things are good, but he ability to CARE for you and your baby when you need it is above and beyond. If you read through the nasty replies, you see people complain about having to pay for their care. Babies come at a price, and unless you are comparing her to a medical clinic in the middle of the ghetto, she is gracious and welcoming to more insurances than almost any other doctor that delivers at Huntington. I have an HMO, and I know it doesn't pay her the way a PPO does. The "insurance and money-hungry" doctors are the ones that most of the people complaining about wouldn't have any choice but to pay 100% cash to.
