Terrible experience. This doctor gave me ovulation meds and wrong TTC advice even though I had no fertility issues, which caused an infection. I got pregnant that cycle, but he gave me meds unsafe for pregnancy and later denied it. I had light bleeding and low HCG from the start. At 6 weeks, he did the ultrasound himself and said everything looked fine. A week later, I had massive bleeding and pain. He suddenly said it might be ectopic. I was rushed to the ER for emergency surgery and nearly died from internal bleeding. Completely irresponsible and dangerous. read more

He saw me at his office, and we talked about my situation, so he referred me to a specialist, another great doctor, Dr. Karimi in San Gabriel to be seen for my high blood pressure. Thank you, Dr. Foong for listening to your patients and putting their needs first. I continued to come to my visits with Doctor Foong, and I was able to give birth at Garfield Hospital successfully. Dr. Foong would come in daily to check on me and talk about every step of the way. Which made a huge difference because I didn't feel lost. We talked about what's next and what our options were. Because of my condition, I was C-section, safer for mommy and baby. But it was a successful experience, and I would definitely recommend Dr. Nicolai Foong at any of his locations, I went to his Arcadia location, and appointments were great. if you're a new or expecting first time mom, look for another obgyn. dr foong was the first obgyn i saw once i found out i was pregnant and it was a terrible experience. he treats his interns(?) as if they're his servants and are so rude to them they literally look terrified of him. he claims that no ultrasound machine in today's modern technology filled world has the ability to listen to your baby's heartbeat, which is a bunch of crap. i switched ob's a little before my second trimester began and my new ob was able to play my baby's heartbeat for me. it was magical. his ultrasound prints are also trash, so don't expect anything to come out clear. payments are completed by cash only, so you better run to the bank before every doctor visit. he also likes to charge $25 per visit even though my insurance covers every visit after the first initial visit. call your insurance to confirm the out of pocket price for your obgyn visits before coming. i had to call dr foong's office several times to get my refunds back, and even then, they made it seem like i was lying and said they'd call my insurance on their own to confirm. i finally got my refund a month later. make sure you do your due diligence and research/google your doctors clearly before scheduling that first appointment, i learned the hard way. read more

STAY AWAY!! Dr. Foong was the worst. Everything was fine until he learned we had a birth plan. Thanks to him I'm undergoing labor trauma and so many anxiety attacks every time I remember my labor. At the hospital, he was so rude and unprofessional screaming at me during delivery and after delivery. Trying to rush me because it was Father's Day and he wanted to leave. He started talking to me as if I was stupid and didn't speak English. He did not care about anything that was on my birth plan. He made me push before my body was ready, and took my placenta out before my body released it. Now I have bladder prolapse thanks to what he did and might need surgery. When I went to get checked because I knew I had a prolapse, cause I could feel it. He checked me and said he didn't feel anything. I had to show him photos I took and said I had bladder prolape and to just rest for one more month and it would go away on its own (which is a lie, prolapse doesn't go away on its own, you need at least pelvic floor therapy ) I told him I was still bleeding and he said it was normal, and it isn't, and now I'm facing an infection because I have a piece of placenta still inside and a chance of surgery because I left the prolapse untreated and it got worse. read more

The receptionist is actually kind to the patients, and you don't have to wait days/weeks to get an appointment so it's a good place to call especially if you need to see a doctor quickly! The doctor actually spends time talking to patients and answering questions. Dr. Foong listens to his patients and addresses their questions and concerns without rushing them. The only problem is his office does not accept many insurance companies so you may need to pay out of pocket if your insurance provider is not accepted. read more

From a husband's perspective: Dr Foong is very personable and treated my wife well which is important to me. My wife has seen him for our last two pregnancies and the prenatal care and delivery was safe and successful. Actually, the 2nd pregnancy was an semi-emergent C section, but he took care of everything and included me as part of the delivery process. I had most of my interactions with him at the hospital and he was very accommodating and careful. I like him because he takes the time to explain to us. Dr Foong is an amazing OBGYN, I dont have the best insurance and prior to having him I was assigned to a different doctor who was no help at all and I requested a different doctor in my last trimester of pregnancy and was lucky enough to get Dr. Foong, he took me on as a patient right away and Had an appointment with him within the same week of being assigned to him. He answered all my questions and concerns, took good care of me and recently delivered my daughter via c section. I was terrified but he did the procedure so good and fast my daughter was here in no time, i felt very safe and secure with this doctor. Also not to mention our appointments were quick, i was in and out of the office within 30 mins, definitely recommend this doctor. My girlfriend gave me the name of Dr. Foong after he delivered her baby. He has an office in Arcadia and Monterey Park. As a doctor, I like him. He's straight to the point, informative, answers all your questions, has good bedside manners, and explains each step as he's doing things (no surprises here ladies!). My only gripe is that his office needs some major redesigning and a more pleasant staff. His staff at the MP office could brush up on their professionalism; and from what my gf told me, the Arcadia office isn't that much better. Overall, I'll continue going to him because I like him as a doctor. You just have to ignore the state of his office and staff. read more
