An elderly cancer patient was taken to his appointment an hour early and before the appointment could even start, thirty minutes before the scheduled time, they took the patient back stating "they have other jobs to pick up". Complete thumbs DOWN‼! There is nothing 'elegant' about "Elegante Car Service." They're always late, picking me up for my dialysis appointments and for going back home (anywhere from 30 mins to 1 1/2 hours late). My insurance pays for ambulette service, yet they send me a car instead, which aggravates my bad back (getting in and out of the vehicle). Once the driver arrives, they don't call you; the dispatcher does, and quite often, the driver will just leave if I'm not outside already. Go with a reputable company and pass this incompetent car service! :-( read more

Kim from Elegante is BEYOND rude and unprofessionall! She spoke to me, a consumer in a very condescending manner. To call a patient an hour before an appointment with unexpected change is very stressful. While attempting to explain to Kim how the last minute change can put the patient, my mother at risk, she proceeded to speak over me, harshly and defensively. With every question I posed regarding the details of the trip she grew more frustrated as if I was bothering her. She was practically rushing me off the phone. I was very perplexed because Kim is not doing me a favor, she supposed to do her job. Part of which is to provide details of the scheduled pick up. When asked to confirm what was said, Kim went as far as stating, " what you don't know what a carpool is?!" Disgusting. That is not the manner to speak with an adult let alone a consumer. When I mentioned that I was not previously informed of the last minute change she sighed as if I was inconveniencing her. I informed Kim that I received two different confirmation calls prior to hers none mentioning a carpool, she interrupted abruptly. Kim kept repeating the time of one previous call as if I was lying. Kim if you're reading this the insurance company and transportation agency calls as well. Revisit your training and educate yourself. Obviously offended and shocked at the manner in which I was being spoken to I asked her to repeat her name, (bare in mind this is very early in the morning) she exclaimed "OH MY GOD!" Elegante this is who represents your company and it's deplorable. The sick and their families trust you to provide safe transportation. To disrespect a consumer simply trying to speak on the behalf of their sick mother is pitiful. Kim lied to me and stated she would follow up after coordinating a new trip. She has yet to call back. Keep in mind another concern of mine was the distance my mother would be traveling and how a carpool would cause her to be late. My mother was late in fact late. Perhaps Kim shouldn't work with people or needs more ethics training. She can definitely stand to learn how to effectively communicate because she has poor interpersonal skills. She's obviously a product of a failed educational system because any educated person with basic problem solving and communication skills would not conduct themselves the way she did. I've been using Elegante for several years. They're quick to pick you up, reliable, and best of all CHEAP. Last week they took me from Park Slope to Grand Central Terminal for 22 bucks. Cars are clean and drivers are polite and quiet. The best car service I've ever used regularly in NYC. read more

These guys are the best local car service that I've ever used. I've been using them for over 10 years now. One time I was at a friends in Park Slope, and we were waiting on another car service that never showed up. When I recommended she call Elegante, they showed up in 5 minutes and she's been using them ever since. I use these guys to get to JFK every single time I go to the airport. It's usually very reasonable. The drivers are all nice and will chat if you like. One time I got a guy who was the cousin of Jose Contras of the Yankees. Their cars are always nice, with plenty of room in the back. (look for their red white and blue sticker with an Eagle on it) It's also always fun listening to their dispatcher on the radio inside the car, while he rattle's off the pick ups in Spanish. Hmmm...kinda makes me wish I was on the Belt Parkway right now, heading for a JetBlue flight. :) read more

I've used this service a couple times since I live just down the street. They've always had cars available when I came here (you can call too, but it's a couple blocks away... Come on!) Their service has been friendly each time, cars are relatively clean and it's staffed with good drivers (not your Dollar Van-type drivers!) One word of advice would be to ask dispatch for a quote and don't let them hustle you into their car as you're walking in the building. Their prices fluctuate a little but - but are usually pretty fair and they're very courteous for cabs. I've even had one open and close my door for me! Nice guys. read more

My grandfather is 86 years old and he has had many issues with wait times when receiving transportation. For example: he called for a pick up from his doctors appointment and the phone dispatcher claimed the wait time would be 30 minutes, and they did not come for another 1 hour and 15 minutes! So far they are ok. Sometimes they do arrive a little later than announced. But usually they are pretty reliable. And to the woman with the 3 cats and moving, she should've gone with a professional moving company as opposed to a car service. There are plenty that offer low rates and a van to transport her and the kitties. Hiring a car service like this one is a bit unreliable on her part. You can't depend on these guys for a move? My insurance informed me that Elegante now takes insurance vouchers (which is great...or so I thought), because that means that I don't pay for the ride, and my insurance picks up the tab. I called to cancel (since my appointment was cancelled) and they didn't even have my pick-up time right! My appointment to see the doctor was at 1:30, pick up at 12:30, and they had me down as a 1;30 pick up. Regardless, I'm not HIGHLY unsure of having them take me anywhere now! Guess they're not making $$ if they are now accepting voucher calls. Just to let everyone know: voucher calls are calls that you do NOT pay for! Like I said, your insurance arranges the transportation, and they pay. HOWEVER...even though your insurance pays, it's very little, and the company takes a HUGE percentage of what the insurance pays, so drivers don't make ANYTHING off these calls! Therefore, they may have more than one person in the car, be picking up/dropping off someone else BEFORE you. THIS IS LEGAL FOR THEM TO DO!!! Most people DON'T tip the drivers on these voucher calls & complain about the company! If you don't like their service, then PAY FOR YOUR OWN RIDE!! That's all I've gotta say about that! read more

Recent horrible experience! I had used them before for trips to JFK and my previous experience was satisfactory. This time I needed a larger van trip from La Guardia to Washington Heights with 15 bags, 2 passengers and 2 cats. I called 3 days before and they said no problem and to give them a call the day before. I called the day before for a pickup at the airport at 7pm. I explained that I was relocating and needed to be at my destination by 8:30pm to pick up keys to my new apartment so I wouldn't be stranded. They said it would be no problem and to give them a call when I got to La Guardia and they would arrive 20 minutes later. Called at 7pm. No van at 7:30 so I called back they said they would be there in 5-10 minutes. No van still at 7:50. Called again and they said they driver was in the airport and he would be there in 5 minutes. By 8pm still no van and when I called they gave me the driver's number so I could find out where he was. I should have hailed one of the other van cabs but stuck it out until the Elegante van finally showed up an hour late. I gave the driver the address on West 161st Street and he entered it in his navigator. 20 minutes later I realize we're driving around the Bronx! I am now almost in tears afraid I would need to find a hotel for me and my crew after a long day of travel. I kept trying to tell him we needed to be on the West side and he wouldn't listen. I finally made him pull over to look at my Google Map and he conceded he was lost. We finally arrive at my destination at 9:30pm after driving around for an hour. Luckily my new super was there with keys to let me in. The real kicker is that the driver wouldn't leave without me paying $75 for what should have been a 20 minute ride. I will never use them again and I wouldn't suggest anyone use them to get from the airport if you're in a hurry. read more

Prompt service, but when my friend called to have a car sent, the dispatch should have asked how we were paying. I find out AFTER a 40 minute drive to JFK that the driver has no means to process a credit card in the vehicle, and then gives me attitude about it like it's my fault? Please. I had to ask him at least three times for a phone number to call to provide the information before he would, while he sat there and stewed about how he couldn't believe this, doesn't know what he's going to do, half his day is going to be wasted while I provide a credit card number to someone on the phone ... just so much drama. And then when I did get someone on the phone, they took my info and then said the driver should have a receipt, which he does not, so I get to figure out how to wrangle an expense report. If you need credit card info before the driver shows up, tell your customers that. And why don't the drivers have the ability to process a card, anyway?? read more

I'd used New Elegante a handful of times and they had been pretty good. We needed a car from the Newark airport c. 11pm back to Bay Ridge and I was told to call when I was off the plane; they estimated the car would arrive 25 mins after I phoned to confirm. I did that and when I checked in 60 and then 75 minutes after we'd landed, I was told the car was "in Jersey, 5 minutes away -- please wait." Okay, fine. We waited more than 15 minutes only to get a call from the driver who told me there was some issue and he was STILL IN MANHATTAN and that it might "be a while." Things happen but for the DISPATCHER TO LIE AND SAY THE CAR IS 5 MINUTES AWAY IS UNETHICAL. We took a cab, it was about the same price (about which we'd been misinformed or we would have done this in the first place). Lying is not okay, even for car services. read more

1 star is too much. My mom is disabled and her pickup was scheduled for 1:20PM by her insurance carrier for a 2PM doctors appointment. It is now 1:50PM and New Elegante has not arrived. I don't often need to use car service since I always use Public transportation, but yes I would ususally pick this car service to use. There's a reason I stopped calling New Elegante a LONG time ago. Today I remembered why. I called at 8:20 to request a car. They assured me in 10 minutes it would be there. 15 minutes passed so I called to make sure the cab was still coming. The dispatcher asked that I wait 5 more minutes. So I did like an imbecile. When those 5 minutes passed I called again to have the dispatcher scream WE HAVE NO CARS and slam the receiver. I waited 25 minutes for that. Poor etiquette, if you don't have a car just say so. I'm sticking to my regular cab service, because New Elegante disappoints every time. read more

Decent drivers, usually really fast and pretty accurate, drivers get you where you're going quickly. Clean cars. No crazy music or over-chatty folks. Never had them pick up another passenger, not show up, or miss a scheduled pick up. Good prices, good about late night pick ups even from the bar. thats been a life saver before. read more

Awful very rude dispatcher and driver. This was a round trip reserved the day before. Driver arrived late. He was speeding. Was missing a seat belt. One dispatcher is very rude, gets address wrong, puts phone down before you are finished talking, always says car will arrive in 5 minutes but takes 20-30 minutes and when you follow up with them, they never give a definite explanation why you have been waiting for a long time. My insurance company made an appointment for me many days in advance. New Elegante Car Service called me three, separate times in the preceding five days. The first time to confirm the wrong day. The next two times to tell me that they were confused. During each call I would slowly say "Sunday, April 22 at 7:30 PM." On the third call, I repeatedly asked them if they understood everything and they assured me that they did. I was going to an expensive overnight hospital study which took months to schedule. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. I WAITED FOR 1 1/2 HOURS IN THE RAIN. THEY NEVER EVEN CALLED. I TRIED CALLING THEM OVER AND OVER AND NO ONE WAS WORKING THERE THAT NIGHT TO ANSWER THE PHONE. I AM VERY ANGRY AND WOULD NEVER EVEN THINK OF CALLING THEM AGAIN. AVOID THIS INCOMPETENT CAR SERVICE. read more

This cab company has virtually no one who speaks english.Unlike Eastern and Church cab services , who turn in yor lost property with them. elegante does not they are thiefs. i have had several friends that have left something in elegante cab ,only reallizing moments later they left a jacket or wallet. these drivers consider these items there xtra tip, If you call the dispatcher and tell him I just got out of cab at "on the run" can you send the cab back,the dispatcher says he has no idea. I would assume a dispatcher should be able to pick up the radio and asked who made drop check the car please,instead he Gets nasty and curses you out in spanish and hangs up on you., he dont speak english. NEVER has any one gotten an item replacedI assume they split the loot . eastern cab will look at you seat and knock on or door. I am looking into a class action suicomplaint as I feel it is done to caucasins. I feel it a racial bias . I sincerely think immigration should be involved. Today was the last day and the last time I will ever use this car service. I like the drivers but the dispatchers are crap--and nasty crap at that. They have frequently left me waiting fifteen or twenty minutes with multiple excuses and I have voiced my displeasure at the owner and the drivers. Today I waited for more than 45 minutes and they had the balls to tell me that they had sent three cars and I wasn't there. I had two friends talking to me while I was waiting--NO ONE showed up. When I told the dispatcher that he was a lying f... he asked that I show him some respect. 45 minutes listening to this man lie and he tells me to show some respect. After the final "Two minutes..." I called back for the fourth or fifth time and now they say because I called them names they have no car for me. Really? What a joke these people are who only care now for the vouchers they get for hauling Medicaid patients to their appointments.
