I was welcome by the stylist with whom we had an appointment and was asked how I'd like their hair cut. I was so specific that I provided pictures and was told numerous times, "no you don't want that, how about this?" Why bother asking? Finally after giving in to the uppity and overly suggestive stylist, my first girl was sent in with her mask. This woman comes out yet again asking how I want her bangs....!!? Then it came time for my 3 year old to go in. I was reluctant about sending my 3 year in alone with a mask but I was proud that she went brave and willingly. I did not opt for the shampoo and blow dry as she wouldn't have done that alone and without me. I gave the stylist the instructions for the haircut yet again and within 5 minutes she came out stating, "she can't do it" because she wouldn't sit still and her mask was falling off and it "wasn't fair for the other people inside." Are you kidding!? She then proceeded to do her haircut outside. I realize these are post-pandemic times right now but maybe if a 3 year old that is forced to wear a mask and be sent in alone without her mother is too much, you shouldn't be excepting appointments for toddlers during these times. Her hair was barely even cut to the point I'm going to have to take her elsewhere to finish it. When it came time to check out I was charged the same price for my toddler as I was my older daughter who received a shampoo, cut and blow dry. Are you kidding. She tried to charge me $25 each how are they the same price!? At least I got one cut for the price of 2. Sorry to all the other clients that had their haircuts ruined by my wiggly toddler.

I was beyond happy with my experience! She provided a great custom tan and then we chatted about my hair style. She took the time to look and was able to fit me in. My dead ends frantically called out to the hairdresser who was looking around on the sidewalk. So I went in, found out they had an opening, and decided to tame the mane then and there. The salon is very simple and inviting. They had the door propped open so there was a good breeze and I got to do a lot of people watching. My hairdresser was an older lady with a thick accent - European? - and she was very sweet. She didn't force any conversation which made my inner introvert sag in relief. When she did talk, it was in a soothing mutter and I found myself laughing because she was so motherly and made me feel comfortable. She was not afraid to dig in and squat near my lap, crank my head to the side in interesting ways, and fuss over tiny hairs that defied her. She had her work cut out for her, because I arrived with a rain forest on my head, but she took charge and gently straightened out the chaos. She complimented my hair a bunch, too, which was nice. She made sure to cut my hair to my specifications, and was a perfectionist about making it look good. And she succeeded! She civilized my hair and took off half its weight. The cut cost me $37 which seemed very fair. She didn't try to sell me products or push me to schedule an appointment (you don't know just how much that impresses me, when business people don't do anything to try to get more of your money) but she didn't need to; I had such a good and relaxing time that I'm sure I'll be back.

I was getting prices and scheduling for salons in the area, and to get my hair cut last minute for an event I was attending. I was greeted by Jane, one of the two hair dressers that work there. I asked her I needed to get in soon (this was maybe between 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 I think?) and she said, "Well, I have a hair dye coming in soon, so how's 1:30?" Sold. I warned her in advance that my hair is complicated, and she assured me that she was fine with it. The first appointment she took a lot of time to go over with me what I wanted. The cut came out exactly how I wanted it and the prices were reasonable. You can expect to pay anywhere from $25.00 to $35.00 for a haircut here (adult woman's) or $6.00 - $18.00 (children and men's), as opposed to spending up to $55.00 just one block down the street. I've been going to this hair dresser since May of last year, and I let no one else touch my hair. I always get compliments on how it comes out, and have never had to come back to have her fix anything. Jane is also a sweetheart. She works very well with kids, including "special needs" (I hate that term) children, and she cut my nephew's hair for his first hair cut. I went in for a bang trim and told her I hadn't gone to a stylist for three months and actually took a xanax because I was so worried about too much being taken off. I joked that I know it's crazy to be so scared and she said "right, it's hair. it will grow back." I should have jumped out of the chair then. I made a big deal of taking as little as possible off. She cut the bangs to above my eyebrows. I ALWAYS have my bangs below them and closer to my eyes. Not only that, but I have a shag cut, and she cut some of the side pieces , that are NOT part of the bangs, they blend with the shag. I didn't' notice how bad it was until I got home and looked in the mirror. I even washed it again thinking I just needed to style it better. Nope. I went to an emergency hair appointment this morning to see if it could be blended. I showed her a photo taken three days ago to compare to after the bang cut, and she agreed that those side pieces should never have been touched, and it will be another five or so months to get that length back and there was nothing I could do. She also pointed out that the right side was shorter than the left. I was sooo honest about just wanting the tiniest trim to clean up the bangs. It was horrible. I was very , very honest and adamant about taking off a little as possible. She should have used clips to hold back the side pieces that are part of the shag. And she should have taken just a tiny bit off and asked if that was good. It's easier to take too little off and take off more than to do a big chop. Now have to start ALL over again. Her recommendations are always spot on. I felt so blessed when I finally snagged an appointment with her as she's incredibly gifted, which means she stays booked and busy for a reason! I was always a reliable client--I never canceled last minute, always gave ample notice when rescheduling, and tipped generously. She also knew about a difficult situation I was going through, including a family member's serious illness. On the day my family member was in the hospital and tragically passed away, I had to cancel my appointment. I immediately informed her, and she assured me she would take care of everything. The next day, I noticed a $133 charge on my credit card. Understandably upset and confused, I reached out for clarification, but she never responded. Given the circumstances, I would have understood if she explained that the system automatically charged the fee but that she'd handle it at my next appointment or offer a small gesture of goodwill. Instead, I was met with silence. As a business owner, charging a long-term, loyal client $133 for a last-minute cancellation due to a family emergency might seem like a win in the short term, but in the long run, it costs you thousands in lost business. It's not just about policy--it's about human decency Because of this experience, I DO NOT recommend Brandy. Customer relationships matter, and so does basic compassion.
