I was honestly feeling pretty iffy to book a hotel room here due to all the negative reviews. However, I made the booking anyway due to the hotel's proximity to The Factory in Deep Ellum and the rate at the time of booking. I arrived Friday evening (Sep 29) and the check-in process was seamless. The front desk staff was super friendly and was helpful with answering my questions. Specifically, about how to get to The Factory by foot (I ended up Ubering because I was late). The room set up was similar to another Marriott Chain that I'd stayed in (Aloft hotels). The room had a mini fridge, a small microwave, and a coffee maker. Pretty much all the standard stuff you would find in a hotel room. The hotel, however, didn't have any notepads/pens. Or at least not in my room because I was looking for something to write on and I ended up having to write on a piece of paper towel. In the shower they had two dispensers: shampoo/conditioner and body wash. Unlike some hotel locations where the dispensers are locked so random guests can't open them and put in yucky stuff in them, this wasn't the case here. I had stayed at a Courtyard in Arlington, TX just a month prior and they had their dispensers locked down. Noise level is typical of what you'd find in any hotel chain. When you have people talking outside, you can pretty much hear them. Luckily my room didn't get a lot of traffic during my stay. They serve breakfast even on the weekends. They had scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, muffins, yogurt, some fresh fruit, etc. The pancakes will have to be made by the staff and the wait could take a while. Parking!! A lot of people complained about the $15/night parking. Now had this been a location that's not in close proximity to downtown, I would be one of those people too. But in my experience, when you stay at a hotel in and/or near downtown ANYWHERE, you can expect to pay for parking. Some will charge you upwards of $50/night. So $15/night wasn't too bad. I had an enjoyable stay here and definitely wouldn't mind staying here again.

From checking in early to checkout the front desk staff was kind and swift to remedy any of our needs. The housekeeping staff was wonderful and my room smelled fresh after each housekeeping day which I appreciate. The engineer staff was fast to repair my AC and the breakfast chef made each morning special with something new. I loved the clean modern design of this property and looked forward to hanging with friends on the outside terrace each evening. Thank you to Mr. Joseph Wheat for good recommendations that were spot on.

Roach, trash in room and broken lock and trash in front of door.

Plausible deniability! After the pandemic this was are 1st mini family getaway! We took a train and after a 25 hour train and rent a car ordeal, We arrived Thursday to a filthy room, a roach on the floor and the the trash overflowing! When I went to the front desk to complain I was told " sorry would you like another room?" Really! Of course I would but please on the same floor with my grandkids. I was told that they were booked and only had a 1st floor and 4th floor room. So I asked if they could deep clean the room. The clerk Jennifer explained that I would have to wait until they finished cleaning the other rooms 1st! But I can email her the pictures, so I did. Well I would think that since my room hadn't been cleaned properly ( if at all) the 1st time that I would be a priority. Sorry you have to wait. So I asked for a manager only to be told she won't be in until about 11pm. Trying to make the best of a bad situation we took another room and asked to talk to the manager when she came in. The next day I asked what happened to the manager only to be told she was too busy last night and because it's a holiday weekend they wouldn't have anyone until Monday. However I found out from another employee that the manager was there on Sunday but she managed to avoid us! ( plausible, deniability ) Then one of the ladies asked why do you need to talk to a manager! Well holding my tongue I stated because I asked to and to make sure they know what you're doing! !!!! So on Saturday when we came back our rooms hadn't been cleaned and the door lock was broken and trash was left outside are door!!! Well 2 good things came out of this trip, 1. Time with my family as a group after 4 years and 2. A reminder to stay at the Hilton when ever possible.

    Dead roach

DO NOT STAY HERE. Came here on a trip and was utterly disgusted to see that the bed sheets and bed comforters had MOLD all over them. Staff at the front desk was extremely rude when we asked for new ones, stating they were "duck feathers" and "that's just how they are". There were also roaches in one of the rooms.

    Missing cabinets

By far one of the WORST hotel experiences I've ever had. The hotel itself isn't bad. However, we booked directly through the hotel to have a suite with a king bed. At check-in, we were notified that the room we had booked was completely sold out. They said when you book through the hotel, it doesn't actually guarantee a room. All they had available was a much smaller room, not a suite, but we would be charged the same price as we were originally going to pay for the suite. After about 10 minutes of speaking with them, a suite "happen to open up". The hotel room was totally thrashed, had fire damage around the microwave and cabinet doors missing, and smelled horribly of smoke. Despite the fact that I'm pregnant and was traveling with my baby, we decided to stay in the room because we knew there was no other option. They would not give me a receipt until check out but I knew I needed to check after how the experience had gone so far. We checked out yesterday, and I just received a copy of the receipt. They charged us the rate that we booked for the first night, however, they charge us $30 extra for the second night. We were never notified. I just spoke to the front desk, and was told, " well, we were really busy that day, so with the occupancy, we charged you more". I have never had a hotel do that before. Nobody is able to help adjust this, and everyone I speak to at the front desk is not helpful at all, often very rude. I would HIGHLY recommend you not book at this hotel. There are plenty others in the area that would be much better!

3 day family get away city pass. I really don't get the bad reviews, my experience was awesome! Pet friendly. Great place to stay. The design is modern, fun and sophisticated. Very, very clean. Plenty of lights and 2 curtains to block the outside lights for resting. Full equipped kitchen. The staff is super friendly. Delicious breakfast. The pool was fun, the gym was equipped, everything super clean!

Our event coordinator had already been in contact with each hotel's sales team regarding room blocks, but my fiancé and I wanted to personally see the properties before recommending them to 30-40 hotel room blocks. Although we arrived after sales office hours, Liz at the front desk was exceptionally kind. She walked us through the restaurants commonly used for private events, explained the renovation timeline, and invited us to take our time exploring before returning to the front desk to view a standard guest room. Unfortunately, our experience changed when another employee, who later identified himself as Clayton, a manager, stepped in. It appeared he had been listening to our conversation but had not introduced himself. He abruptly informed us that we would not be able to view a room. We explained that our event coordinator was already working with the sales manager regarding room blocks and pricing, and that we were simply trying to ensure we felt confident recommending the hotel to our family and friends. Despite understanding the situation, he remained unwilling to accommodate the request. His only suggestion was that we purchase a room if we wanted to see one. For us, this interaction spoke volumes. Hospitality isn't just about beautiful rooms--it's about making potential guests feel welcomed and valued. If this was the experience we received as prospective clients considering multiple wedding events and dozens of room nights, it gave us pause about what our guests might experience. As a result, we will likely to move our room block, welcome dinner, Saturday event, and Sunday brunch where we're met with warmth, flexibility, and genuine hospitality from the moment we arrive. The Joule is undeniably a beautiful property, but customer service plays a major role in our decision-making. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that our business was neither appreciated nor wanted.

If you want to commemorate Tina Turner, nothing beats it. Lorenzo Hotel, let's stay together. The creative, quirky, and poetic 237-room boutique is known for being an eclectic and vibrant art gallery with a different theme for each floor. Floor 1 is a mix-up with Shakespeare, Alice in Wonderland, Poe, and Einstein. Floor 3 is Literature & Journalism (if you like old printing presses this may be your type). Floor 4 is the Music Floor (vintage audio). Floor 5 is Mid-Century Modern (1960s Dallas history). Floor 6 is "Dali" or Surrealism Floor. Floor 8 is Botanical & Nature (floral pops of color). Floor 9 is Pop Art (bold and graphic). Floor 10 is Cinematic History (Hollywood glamour). Floor 11 is The Tina Turner Tribute. Floor 12: Skyline / Skye Ballroom event level with massive floor-to-ceiling windows. We stayed in Floor 7, which is "Literary Noir" (drama and mystery). We had a broken, blinking Neon sign, a wobbly ceiling fan, broken blinds, matchbooks full of phone numbers, an unfinished manuscript, an ashtray full of cigarettes, and a dead body in the tub. Not really. But we did have a giant seven foot "desk lamp", a paintbrush and frame above our bed, and and a carpet made from Hamlet quotes in Room 704. Dining: Hamilton's is the main on-site restaurant and bar, with a host or hostess in the lobby smiling at us when we walked in. Taco Enzo and Kolache Korner are in the refurbished shipping containers in the massive parking lot. The lobby store is small and not cheap but it beats a vending machine, especially if you want an ice cream sandwich or fingernail clippers. The "South Beach" pool is saltwater, so it's softer on the skin, eyes, and hair and avoids red eyes, green hair, and pool smell. Location: Though the Cedars district is the industrial historic heart of the Dallas arts scene, it's a bit gritty and has *freeway noise*, with gentrification friction, being a patchwork of high-end luxury lofts sitting right next to dilapidated industrial warehouses, making it feel half vibrant but half abandoned. The Walkability Score is 73, thanks to massive railroad tracks, the I-30, current construction, and inconsistent sidewalks. Be warned this isn't a tree-lined, window-shopping destination like Uptown or Bishop. Finding food, a drink, and even a movie will be much easier than groceries or a pharmacy (though drugs is a different story). Service: Everyone was awesome, especially Precious, who was, like her name Precious. That explains why they don't hire Dicks.

The pool was great during the summer, it's small but has many chairs and even cabanas that are great for lounging in. The onsite restaurant for breakfast was delicious! The food was really good - probably the best part of the entire hotel - and the service at the restaurant was beyond friendly and accommodating. The parking is $20 a night which is a crazy price, but there were always plenty of spaces. There is a lot of construction next door, so we could hear that going on during the day and proved for a quite terrible view from our hotel room - completely obstructed by a tree with the bits you can see through being just trucks. One evening our toddler pulled the plug for the lamp that is on the night stand and it pulled the entire outlet out which created a hot flash of fire and smoke - then live wires were exposed - this is crazy dangerous and very disturbing that a very small child was in such danger from merely unplugging something. We went down to the desk and they immediately said they'd send an engineer up and asked if we would like to change rooms. We said we'd see what the engineer said, he came up about 5 mins later and said everything needed to be replaced so I said to him we have to switch rooms as it was completely dangerous for anyone to be in the room with live wiring exposed. A minute or two after the engineer left the front desk called our room and told us to come downstairs to change rooms. We packed up, trucked everything downstairs and they switched our rooms to the room next door (which it would've been nice if they would have offered to help move our luggage or at least tell us to just move it one room over, not bring it all downstairs). The front desk was actually really passive and cold - I found the situation quite shocking and dangerous and they had basically nothing to say about it. I thought it would've been nice if they had said something to apologize for the inconvenience, to offer something in return. It is completely their fault for having faulty electrical equipment in their room and they just wanted us to move rooms and go away - I was just happy to move the room and not be near them since they were such bad vibes - I think other people would've felt disrespected by their behavior. Thanks for the food, won't be back.

About the Hotel I don't know the history of the hotel but I can tell it's a well kept older hotel. I like how they kept some elements of its legacy. The lighting, the mail chute and more, add to the charm of this place. The lobby is a modern twist with an emphasis on audio entertainment. There are a lot of record albums on display as art. There's a small walk up cafe for quick bites and drinks and you can take a comfy seat in the lobby to enjoy your snack. From the lobby, you can peer down into and access the Toussaint restaurant and bar. About our Room Our room (603) was spacious and functional. It included a king bed, 2 large side tables, a round bistro table with one chair, a large flat screen TV above a long counter to drop some of your stuff onto. It had a large wardrobe for hanging clothing plus a valuable safe. It had a bar with glassware and coffee service (Keurig). The bathroom was spacious and functional, though the sliding entry door did leave a large gap, taking a bit of privacy away from the commode area. If there was a con for this room, I'd say it was lighting and lack of outlets on one side of the bed. The room did have lighting, but it was very dim. Convenience We really loved the location of the Saint Elm. It was nearly next door to the Majestic Theater where we were going for a concert. It's walking distance to some great restaurants and sights. We'd stay at the Saint Elm again.

Its time for "Story-time with Adam Cole Baby" (don't sue me TK, I'm working class and can't afford the lawyers) The TLDR: This is a serviceable hotel with great front desk and that's about it. I wouldn't feel comfortable with any single female friends/family to stay there by themselves. The very first interaction I had in Dallas, the VERY FIRST was a *ahem* "lady of the night as I was getting out of my Lyft and approaching the front doors of the hotel. She walked directly in my path, looked me in the eye, and with no warning said: "For $50 you can do whatever you want to my asshole" Do you know how hard it is to make me speechless? I muttered and stuttered my way past the woman to check in. Homeless people and working girl are a REAL problem here. In my eight days there every time I left the hotel I ran into one group or the other, some times both. I check in, go to my room, do a quick inspection and in the shower I find.....black mold!!!! An easy enough fix I think, I go downstairs report it to the front desk, go off to the market for supplies, and come back. The front desk guy tells me that he's made a concoction of sorts that gets rid of mold and he's left it in my room for me to apply it in the shower. A VERY WTF moment!! Bro I don't work here, and don't know enough about this chemistry experiment you've cooked up. I go back downstairs and they finally give me a new room. I'm not much of a complainer and I have a clean new room so let's just sleep and see what the next day bring. I wake up and decide to hit the breakfast. I grab some undercooked bacon and potatoes, as I'm grabbing juice I notice the employees were closing everything down (five minutes early but I get it) the really weird/annoying thing was that they were turning the lights off on all the people still eating. It felt like last call at a seedy dive bar. Like I said, I understand wanting to go home but turning the lights out on your guests was a complete and utter FAIL. My last notch in the complain column is that the building itself could really use some attention. When it was raining the ceiling by the front door was flooding like a TLC song. The elevators never seemed clean either. So if I'm going all Final Justice on my review why did I give it a three star and not a one? All the positives come from the front desk agents. Jasmine was the best agent I've had the pleasure to deal with in almost a decade. She was warm, welcoming, and quick as a whip. Every day that I came downstairs she had a different suggestion on where I should go and what I should eat. Honestly if I was building a management team from the ground up, I would poach Jasmine in a heartbeat. So yes on the strength of one employee a hotel gained two stars. Otherwise I can't really recommend stay here until they make some major changes
