I installed my solar in 2008. The people who installed it were amazing. Since 2008, every problem I've had with micro inverters, not working, issues with my panels, no output.... Elemental Energy has been outstanding in post customer care. In the eight years since I've had my system, I've only had two issues which were properly taken care of. The project manager in 2008 was absolutely awful. Poor communication and someone quit so my project got pushed to no-man zone- no one was taking care of my project or communicating clearly about what was going on. I didn't write a review in 2008 because I was upset about the process. However, eight years later, the install is absolutely fantastic and the product has held up really well. Elemental Energy installed a photocell array on our roof a couple a years back. When we made the decision to install batteries as well, they were our only call. Our house was built in the late 1960's. Which means that the outlet plugs and other components that were installed back then (over 50 years ago) have become brittle. Jostle them a bit and they can fracture. This happened to the circuit for the room on the other side of the Battery install. Apparently they jostled the wires running to one of those outlets and it fractured it, disabling that circuit. It being a guestroom, we didn't notice it right away. Elemental Energy completed the installation of a 30 PV panel, 8.7 kW system on our roof in November 2019. The company over delivered on their promises, was very professional, and customer-focused throughout the project. I strongly recommend Elemental Energy for home solar PV projects. The design drawings they developed were very detailed. Elemental Energy was very responsive providing quality information to all of my questions about the design. I was especially focused on the products and methods they proposed to use for roof penetrations, which were necessary to structurally attach the array frame to the roof rafters, in order to guard against future water intrusion. I also appreciated the effort to inconspicuously run conduit from the roof down to the PGE meter. Elemental Energy seamlessly managed the county permitting process, the Energy Trust of Oregon financial incentive contribution, and prepared my net metering agreement with PGE ... all I had to do was review and sign electronically. They even provided the IRS tax form for me to use when I prepare my income tax return and claim the federal tax credit. Also, there were no "extras" discovered during the work that increased my cost. The county approved the design and inspected the work upon completion without finding any issues. The installation itself only took two days of field work. Cleanup after the work was very thorough. Communications via email and phone from Elemental Energy throughout the entire process was exceptional; I always knew the status of the project and what would happen next and when. Although this time of year is a low generation period due to the late autumn season, I have been using the webpage Elemental Energy provided that allows me to monitor the PV system's performance in real-time. It has multiple ways of looking at the data and provides various reporting tools. It's all pretty intuitive and very impressive. EE was not the only company I interviewed, but the polish and professionalism of Josh Little, my first contact person w/ EE, impressed me from the get-go! Josh surveyed our house for solar calculations and the next day I had a couple of detailed proposals specifying equipment, output, and bottom-line costs after incentives. Found these guys online and had Mike come out to do a quote for solar on our house. Very personable guy and good proposals put together explaining costs, energy savings, etc. We also liked their engineering and social justice philosophy. As part of vetting out solar vendors, we of course got several other quotes, all of whom had no problem taking credit cards for payment same-as-cash. After all, these jobs require the homeowner to come up with $10-20K upfront, something that I know very few regular people just have sitting around in their checking account. Additionally, the other businesses all said (as most contractors do) to let them know if the price comes in competitively with others so they can try to meet/beat if possible. So we really liked Elemental, and I emailed to verify that they'd accept credit cards and he said they would charge us 2.75% more (about $400 difference) to cover their processing fee rather than absorb the cost. I let him know that the other vendors weren't charging an additional fee to accept a credit card and that if he was going to do that we weren't going to work with them. He didn't even provide the courtesy of a response, so because of that we're going with someone else and he just lost $14,000. BOO. read more

I had elemental energy install a solar system in December 2015. This is actually a second solar system for me. The first one was installed by solar city 5 years ago. Solar city did do a site visit but would not even give me a proposal for putting on a second system. Elemental energy responded promptly to my inquiry and were easy to work with. I was satisfied with their work and the ability to integrate the second system into my existing system. They also placed the wiring for a back up Tesla battery, so that can be installed when available. I have no reservations in recommending them. read more

I did a lot of research into various companies providing solar installations -- roughly 10 companies, both local and national. Elemental Energy stood far above them all in just about every aspect. Elemental was very quick to respond to my initial consultation request on their website, where some other companies didn't respond for weeks! Elemental was very friendly and amiable where some other companies' representatives were, for lack of a better term, socially awkward. Elemental was prompt and professional where some other companies showed up to a consultation appointment a half hour late with no warning or explanation. Elemental was very easy to communicate with, forthcoming with information when I asked questions, and great at explaining very technical details in an understandable, simple manner. Some other companies made me feel like I was pulling teeth. Elemental was respectful of my privacy and not at all pushy on the sales front where some other companies incessantly emailed and called me on the phone trying to win my business back after I'd already told them 'no'. Ugh. Elemental was incredibly quick to install everything. The panels and electrical wiring were physically in place only 10 days after me signing the contract, and it was completed within the span of a single day. Other companies gave me estimates as high as 6 months before they would be able to begin construction. Elemental's employees have been directly involved with non-profit organizations that work to provide clean water and energy to developing nations around the world. It felt pretty great personally to support a business whose members do such work. And perhaps most objectively, Elemental's quote was less than almost every other quote I received for a comparable system, often significantly so. One company offered a lower bid, but they had .... other problems. (see above) The system's online now, supplementing my power. Everything went so smoothly! I own a duplex with good sun exposure. Elemental Energy was one of my bids. It was not the cheapest overall, but it was the best bid in terms of meeting my expectations. They installed a system that is expected to create 99% of the electricity used by my tenants. I am now charging them more rent to recover my costs. With Energy Trust rebates and tax incentives, I expect my investment to be paid in full in less than 7 years. Elemental Energy kept their appointments, worked quickly and efficiently, left a clean work zone, and walked me through the entire process. They were pleasant to not only me but my tenants and they went the extra mile needed to coordinate with all three parties. Great young professionals. I have no hesitation in recommending them. Elemental installed a Tesla Powerwall 2 solar storage battery in our home. The crew was phenomenal, cleaning the work site at the end of both days of their installation, working with the city inspector, caring for our carpets and flooring, and keeping the disruption of our daily schedule to a minimum (we both work from home.) The installer walked me through the use of the Tesla app on my mobile phone so that we can monitor the functioning of the system anytime, anywhere. Our indoor cat is usually terrified of contractors, but the finicky feline realized quickly how good-natured and even-tempered the Elemental staff is. December of last year I contacted four different solar installers through the Oregon Energy Trust website. Elemental Energy was the only one to come out to my property for a rooftop solar evaluation. Another installer wanted $150 just to come out and look at my property. Their estimate was very clear in breaking down the system production, costs, and tax credits. In addition they completed the installation that month so I qualified for the state and federal tax credits that year! There were some issues with new electrical code that had just gone into effect in my municipality along with a overzealous inspector that wanted everything done in a particular way that wasn't spelled out in the code. They patiently worked though the issues with the city to get the job completed. So far the system production has exceeded their estimates by a good margin, and on track to break even in under 3 years. read more

Interviewed 6 solar installers for the new construction. All fairly competent and similar prices. Elemental stood above since the first round. Solid knowledge, wide product selection, no pushy about upgrades and very cost conscious. Came out a tiny bit above lowest bid but amount of detail in planning was above and beyond all. Explained in detail how the whole process will work including permits and rebates etc (and it actually went exactly as planned). Coordinated with the roofer on their own and showed up on time every time. Even sent electrician on the weekend when we needed to reroute the wiring before texture application. Installation was fast and smooth, even painted all exposed conduits etc to make it look better on the roof. Everybody involved from Elemental were professional, courteous, on-time.
