I will say it is hit or miss with service here. When Shannon is working it is a great time to get drinks and order food. But sometimes they feel understaffed. This is usually a very popular spot for hotel guests and the food is actually really good. Salmon, caprese, burger, even salads are good here. Only downfall is sometimes it takes a while to get drinks and dinner. Also the breakfast Buffett is always the same food but it is real eggs, real bacon, actual made pancakes and fruit. Stopped here for dinner while visiting family, this place is a hidden gem! Had Calimari to start- the texture was great, the breading was airy and well-seasoned but very tender. I had the Chicken Riggies for my entree- the chicken was perfectly cooked and the vodka sauce was delicious! I asked for a little extra spice in the sauce and it did not disappoint (though would order as it comes if you're sensitive to spice). I finished with the flourless chocolate torte for dessert- the flavors of the dark chocolate balanced well with the fruit topping and was dense but not too filling. I would definitely get it again! Staff was very friendly and quick. I had an Old Fashioned, generous pours but not over-powering. We will definitely be back next time we're in town! read more

I ordered from them twice. First was room service and second was dine-in. The delivery took forever. The lady told me she accidentally brought it to the wrong room. But that's okay, I appreciate her honesty. She was also very friendly. I would still give it 5 stars if it was not for the food. It wasn't exactly what I expected. I ordered the mushroom and swiss. The swiss had already gotten a little solid from the wait. The meat had gotten a bit dry. The soup was thicker than I expected. It was more like a sauce in consistency than a creamy soup. It wasn't bad but it could have been better in terms of delivery time and the food. My dine in visit was better. Amazing server and the food was good. The Doubletree offers their breakfast buffet here. When I arrived, there was 1 couple eating breakfast and another solo traveler finishing up. Unfortunately there was no one else to be found. Should I seat myself? OK, I do but there's no table setting. I walk around, go into the kitchen, into the backroom. It's only 8:30 a.m., are they closed already? I went back to the Doubletree to the front desk and asked if there was anyone around. She called and finally someone showed up. When I gave my breakfast coupon, she left not to be found again. During a stay at the Doubletree Inn we had dinner and sampled the breakfast buffet at Elements. The convenience makes it a good choice for hotel guests, and prices are fairly reasonable. Seating was comfortable, decor was very simple, though the noise level was higher than we'd have liked. It was after 9PM when we had dinner and the bar on the other side of the wall was starting to get a bit raucous. But, having mentioned that, I was happy to see several good craft beer selections on draft as we passed the bar on the way in. I can't comment on many of its dinner offerings since everyone at our table ordered the same item, the blue cheese burger. The toppings-especially the onion rings-- were yummy, though the beef itself was overcooked and disappointingly dry. Their interpretation of "medium" was closer to medium well+. I have no complaints about the service, however. Our server was friendly and always present when we needed her. The breakfast bar offered scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, pancakes, plus cereal, bagels, fruit, yogurt, and other breakfast staples. The eggs weren't bad--not too dry, even though I was getting the last of the tray. Sausage was very good by buffet standards, and my father said his bacon was good, though his pancakes were dry to the point of being stiff. Coffee came in a pot for the table and was satisfactory. However, getting a table was a bit of a challenge, even though only a few others were occupied. Plates and cups from previous diners covered most of them, and busers were tending to them only intermittently. When we finally took a uncleared table and started to move plates to another table one appeared and finished the job for us, though some dirty tables remained untouched the entire time we were there. I might try some other dinner items if I return there, though would be just as likely wander out of the hotel and see what else Newark offers these days. read more

We planned a beautiful New Years Eve dinner. The advertising was very impressive for this event, we booked a reservation. When we got there hardly anyone was there. We were seated with another couple. The waitress was not knowledgeable about any of the entrees. She could not answer any questions, we received poor service the entire time we were there. They did not bring my second course French Onion soup. Directly brought my meal. They offered Prime Rib, three of us got that it did not taste like Prime Rib, it was tough as leather. I returned mine it was well done, I had asked for medium. About 25 minutes later a new serving was brought to me. Everyone at our table was finished. I told them I no longer wanted to eat, alone. This was the second time a nice expensive dinner was ruined there. The other time there was a huge, hard 1" bone in my salmon. If I had swallowed it, it would have been disastrous. We were excited about the New Years dinner. It was ruined for all of us. We will never eat there again. Horrible experience, again. The food and service was horrible. We have been here several times so we had an idea of what to expect. It is. Nice looking pub in a hotel. It was cinco de maya and thought this would be good place to avoid crowds. There were about 20 people there, mostly the bar area. We sat at a high top table in the bar area. We noticed that the menus had changed and several of our favorites were no longer on the menu. I ordered a drink and my wife ordered a margarita. The server came back and said they were out of the ingredients to make margaritas, at 6:30, on cinco de maya. Not finding anything on the menus that we wanted, we left. Update -stopped In again after a meeting with some friends a few weeks later. Ordered the club sandwich with house chips. It is tough to mess up a club sandwich but it was not very good. The mayo had a strong taste. The chips had sat in oil that was not hot enough and were rubbery. Have now been to Elements four times and have never been disappointed. The menu is not extensive, but there is a nice selection of appetizers, sandwiches and dinner entrees. This is a small little restaurant attached to the Double Tree. Menu is small but service is great. This review is based upon my breakfast I had this morning. I had the 2 eggs any style, meat, potatoes, toast. I ordered my eggs over easy and bacon and wheat toast. First, the eggs. I always order over easy. They are rarely done correctly. Either over cooked or under cooked. These were perfect! Oozy gooey goodness in the egg yolk, no brown edges. So good. The bacon was also done to perfection, though a little greasy. Came here with my mom, and glad we came. The staff was friendly and polite, was quiet and nice decor. We shared the gumbo, market salad, and Greek chicken wrap with a side of fresh fruit. The gumbo had shrimp, chicken and sausage. It was my first time having gumbo, so I don't know how to judge it to others, but I found it pleasantly spicy and filled with lots of veggies. The market salad was good, especially with the candied walnuts and well mixed. The Greek chicken wrap is hard for me to judge since I did not like the dressing, but the chicken was good, nice assortment of veggies. I'm going to reserve judgement until I can visit this place again. My visit started off on the wrong foot, with a less than friendly greeting from the host staff. At 5:30pm the place was nearly empty, the hostess frowned when I said I didn't have a reservation. She acted as if she was doing me a favor by seating us in the empty dining room. The pretzels and dip were very good. I got the Jambalaya and it was just OK. Not overly flavorful and had only one piece of Andouille sausage in it. My wife got the fish-n-chips. Again, the fish was not terribly flavorful. The coleslaw was very good. I had a great experience at Elements. I'm on a restricted diet and explained the situation to the bar tender (who was also taking our dinner order). He wasn't quite sure they could accommodate me so he went back on got the chef. I explained my restrictions to the chef and he asked some some additional questions to make sure he understood. Away he went. He came back about 5 minutes later to ask a question or two and then 10 minutes later my meal arrived. Very nicely plated, visually appealing, meeting my restrictions and tasted delicious. Went in the lounge for a drink before retiring for the night. Bartender was maybe a 5 out of 10 on service. Ordered a lemon drop watched him put a bunch of different things in there and one slice of lemon who makes a lemon drop without lemon juice really? Tasted like a lemon drop that someone used sprite is in my main ingredient. Good service and great atmosphere. The wine and drink specials are nice and enjoy the theme nights and events they have. The new menu is not as good as the first menu the restaurant had. A lot of our favorite dishes are no longer available. It seems the dishes are either high or low in price. I think it would be best with more options. The best part are servers, we've never had a bad experience the half dozen times we've gone. The fact that they use many local, even Licking County businesses, ingredients is really nice. Not recommended!!! That's starting with two negatives. I convinced my wife that we should eat there because of the Salmon described on the menu. This is her favorite dish to dine out. Lunch & Dinner menus were posted as we entered. Took a while for anyone to notice we were waiting to be seated. Then we were taken to a table and told that due to "An Event" in Newark that night, they were offering a "Limited Menu". Salmon not listed! Just to be sure she requested Salmon, and got the same reply. But they added that during these "Events" they would be "Slammed" to the point that the Customers would have a longer wait for their dinner if they offered the full menu. This was at 5:00, the only other couple was at the bar. After 25 min. our dinner arrived. Don't think it takes that long to cook Salmon. We were out the door by 6:00. By then two of the other table were taken, lots of tables remaining. Chicken was OK. Greens were sweet. Potatoes were OK. This is not the way you want to start an evening out with your wife!!! I can't speak much about the hotel, but my friends and I recently went to the bar one night and waited about 10 minutes until we got acknowledged. All the men working behind the bar and in the restaurant seemed extremely grumpy. I ordered a martini and when I finally got it - it wasn't even half full. I would have said something to the bartender, but I just stood there in shock that I had just paid $7+ for a less than half full martini. I still can't believe how incredibly rude and grumpy they all were.. Like my friends and I were an inconvenience to them. This is pretty crappy considering it's one of the classier bars in Newark and I'd like to come back, but I probably won't. read more
