This review is for dining at the Granville Inn restaurant only. The Mother's Day brunch buffet really surpassed expectations. Sometimes I find buffet can mean to lower my expectations on service and food quality, but definitely not the case here. Everyone that we encountered from the hostess to the managers went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. I appreciated the extra attention they gave my mom to make her day special. Lots of choices on the buffet, but the standouts were the cold salads, the omelette station and the desserts. So many options to satisfy the sweet tooth including key lime pie, cheesecake, carrot cake, cookies and tres leches cake. The buffet price did not include mimosas. All drinks were ordered as cash bar, and they had a fun mother's day cocktail special that had edible glitter. My aunt and uncle recently moved to this area and I had been wanting to check this place out so it was a perfect fit to meet for dinner here. The best time we could get was 5pm, there was an alumni event at the college that weekend so places were extra busy, but even by the time we left it wasn't full. I think they maybe didn't have enough staff. However, our waitress was really sweet and patient with us first timers. My husband and I got a bottle of wine and my aunt and uncle grabbed some cocktails, all of which were great. The bread service is divine. They serve it with a salted herb butter. To start, I got the French onion soup, and my husband got a wedge and both were delicious. For my main course I got the steak frites, and while the fries were delicious, the steak left a bit to be desired. My husband got the wild boar special and loved it though! Drove up to Granville and had lunch at the Granville inn . Always a nice place to have lunch . Never had dinner there tho but I'm sure it's good . We had the prime rib Philly sandwich which was very tasty. The French fries that came with it was very good . The inn has alot of history and will be celebrating its 100 th anniversary .soon. Food was terrific, and they accommodated some additional requests that made everything perfect. The Steak Diane in the Oak Room was one of the best we've ever had--so tender you could cut it with a fork, and the sauce was divine! First visit, for Valentine's dinner. I was very excited. The table service was very good. We enjoyed the charcuterie board and cocktails. Both of us had the scallops for our main course. They were okay, maybe a little tough. The accompanying risotto was bland and not at all creamy. Between the 2 of us, we only found 1 piece of pale yellow corn (not blistered). No tomatoes at all, and chive oil was bland. For dessert, we split a chocolate lava cake, and each had a cappuccino. There was absolutely no foam on the cappuccinos, and one was just above room temperature. The lava cake tasted good, but the "lava" was a cold piece of hard chocolate in the middle. This meal was almost $200. We will not return. read more

I've eaten at the inn quite a few times. Each time, I've been pleased with the meal and service. I've eaten inside and outside. During the spring and summer, the patio is lovely. During fall and winter, dining room is cozy and welcoming yet sophisticated. As for the food, the yogurt and fruit breakfast bowl is delish, and the sourdough toast is thick-cut and tasty. I've also had a southwest chicken salad, which is generously portioned and very good. My absolute favorite is falafel salad, with its crispy falafel balls, creamy slaw, and savory yellow rice. The last dessert I had--which I believe was a bread pudding with toffee sauce, baked pear and apple, and ice cream--was okay but a bit over baked. We met friends here for a Saturday brunch and were excited to be there again. It had been several years and in the past we had excellent food and service . We were seated promptly after our 12:30 reservations and orders were taken fairly quickly. They were out of several things but that happens. We then waited almost an hour for our food without anyone even coming to check on us. The food was cold when we finally got it; obviously it had been sitting for a long time. We thought we should get a discount but instead were offered a free dessert which we didn't even want. Good thing because it was inedible. They even took a long time to bring the bill. My meal consisted of a pint of Guinness and a hamburger. I had to send the Guinness back twice because the glass was half full each time. Ended up drinking water. The $22 hamburger was dry and over cooked. When they took the silverware from the table with the appetizer they never replaced it. Even my partners soup was lukewarm. I don't want to blame the kitchen, bar and staff solely for such failures. It was clear that they saw no problems in what they were doing. The vibe is very much historical building with beautiful wooden details. The food and drinks are a little pricey but the atmosphere makes it worth it. The menu was filled with plenty choices and a sushi artist was in house. But, we were in a tavern and fish and chips were on special so we chose that. It was lightly breaded with a flaky beer batter. This fish was mild, moist, and cooked perfectly. He meal was headed to a 5 star rating! Until, we had The fries. They were, well, not great. But, not bad. We were shocked because everything else was a 5 star quality. They were not hot, not crisp, and looked like they were frozen, not hand cut. This is a mystery to us. Why, when everything was so good? The meal came with a choice of a draft beer. I chose the Buckeye Lake Ale. It was dark, hoppy, with a caramel aftertaste. It paired well with the fish. The ambiance was what we expected, a pub feel with beautiful decorations all around. I can't rate it a 4.5 which is what I give it. So, settling for a four star rating. We stayed for one evening at the vintage hotel for a concert nearby last week and had an excellent experience. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. There is gorgeous wood paneling throughout the hotel and old photos on the walls. It has a very "Overlook Hotel" vibe. When we got back to the hotel in the evening we walked into the bar which was playing Glen Miller old timey music, a lovely touch. They were kind enough to open our wine bottles for us and let us sit outside on the back patio. All in all it was a great evening in a gorgeous vintage hotel. The only critique I've got is that the "accessible room" is just a regular room with a shower chair in it, and disabled folks, especially people in a wheelchair like my boyfriend, really need a roll in shower with a bench. read more
