I Wish I Could Give Negative Stars - Avoid This Place at All Costs! I had an absolutely terrible experience with this business. The highest-rated masseuse was completely unprofessional, and I would strongly advise against booking with him. Firstly, his long nails dug into my skin during both of my massages, leaving visible marks. On top of that, he burped repeatedly throughout the session, often just a foot away from my face, which was both unprofessional and disgusting. I also asked him not to touch my chest or any areas affected by Botox, yet he ignored my request and continued to touch my private areas inappropriately. That was a serious violation of my boundaries. But the worst part was when he casually mentioned that he was sick halfway through the massage and suggested that I'd probably catch it too. At that point, I wanted to leave immediately, but I was undressed and felt uncomfortable asking him to stop. I didn't know how he would react. Now, I have a massage left on my account, but I'll never use it. Massages are meant to be a relaxing experience, not one that makes you worry about your personal safety and well-being. There are plenty of other great options in the area--especially for women--so please, do yourself a favor and find a different place. read more

I have had a membership here now for a couple years, and I'm not sure why I am just now writing a review, but I think this is a great place. I will say, once you find someone that you really like you have to book appointments in advance because it is hard to get in if your schedule is not flexible (I can only do nights and weekends). I have worked with a lot of the therapists here, and there are a few that I think highly of! I like deep pressure, which I always feel like has been hard to find. They also have maternity massage, which I had all through both of my pregnancies. JOHN- he is great, very knowledgeable about anatomy and kinesiology. You can tell he really enjoys what he does. He has a very calming voice and energy. He was the first person who really worked on my hips and was not afraid to do deep pressure. He is a GEM! COREY- so experienced and great with deep pressure also. I swear he knows exactly where to find problem spots and really work them out. One time he went over a whole 30 mins bc he was trying to work out all the knots in my back, but also get me in a relaxed state by the end of the session. Corey uses his forearms and elbows, combined with his hands in order to really get deep into your back and hip muscles. He has a great flow, where he keeps both hands on you the whole time. If you're looking for a female, I really liked Lois a lot. I remember feeling like she did good with deep pressure. Ever since Penny left, I had a hard time finding another female who gave deep enough pressure for me, which is why I have stuck with the 2 male therapists. Penny, if you ever see this, you were THE BEST massage therapist I ever had!! I don't think you can go wrong here, bc I've never had a bad massage, but I wanted to highlight my favorites! read more

This is a convenient place to get a massage but there are probably better places in the area that are not a big spa chain. Pros: -They're good about accepting gift cards. -You can schedule online, which is convenient. -Prices are average. I've seen other places charge much more. Cons: -Your appointment time includes the time it takes you to get dressed and undressed so you're losing out on ~10 min of actual massage. Last time I was finished dressing, paid, out the door and saw that i still had 5 min of my appointment time, which was disappointing. -Limited number of therapists on hand who can do prenatal massage. -Customer service at the office seems hit or miss. I am a member here because it is a convenient location. If they have a good therapist they typically leave for other employment. Massages are never the full time. I've booked two hour massages and therapist asked in advance about a potty break. If a therapist can't work for 2 hours then they shouldn't take the appt. most of the male therapists give a lazy massage...run their arms on your back and then sit there for 5 min. Some therapists want to do a bunch of stretches (which I can do at home for free) instead of actually doing massage. Others fancy themselves physical therapists and want to do a workout, evaluate your gait, etc. One, James, is also illegally using ultrasound equipment for which he is not trained or licensed. Massages are hit or miss. Scheduling is challenging and difficulties with that are always the customers fault and charged. Poor management practice if you want to keep members. Oh, and the reviews that they solicit only allow you to say that you will highly recommend. read more

My husband signed up for their membership so he goes monthly. Before Christmas, they had a special for their gift certificates ($59 for a 55 minute massage) so he bought two for me. Now I am a novice when it comes to rub downs, but I was so very pleased with my experience. The atmosphere was truly relaxing, with subtle lights, soft music and a fitting decor. They really zero in on any health issues and/or previous injuries. I was a sissy when it came to my left shoulder as I dislocated it several years ago. The masseuse asked a lot of questions and really wanted to please.....but again, I was at her mercy since I was not an educated client. Well she really did a wonderful job. She did not limit herself to one type of massage but used a variety of techniques on various body parts, so that I would get the maximum benefits. She put me at ease, and and made me into a human jello mold. I would have melted if the AC wasn't on. I had my tip ready for her after my glorious session, but she declined it. We had talked briefly about how I was helping to put on a fund raiser for a one of our neighbors. She wanted her tip to go towards the event. Wow. Great technique and a great heart. Okay, I guess I qualify to write this review as a dissatisfied customer because I was just told I don't qualify for a new-customer discount since I got a massage in 2011. Well, that massage 10 years ago wasn't good enough to bring me back since. I was willing to try Brian or Johnny B. this time around since they're now labeled "Level 4" pressure. They didn't have those pressure "levels" 10 years ago, so maybe this time around I'd think the guy deep-tissue enough to sign up for Elements monthly subscription rate of $100/90min--also the discount new-customer rate I expected from the coupon I got that "doesn't apply". But when the sassy sister on the phone thought it ridiculous of me to expect a new-customer discount--the franchise mentality--I decided to write this review instead. At the price-point of $130, I have plenty of sure-fire deep-tissue options in Annapolis (try Mike at Evolutions, or John Wood in West Annapolis, or David Berger at Escape Massages); hell, I also have a great cut-rate option 20 min away--Frank at Crystal Massage in Crofton will walk wonders on your back for $100/2hrs! Jodi is my masseuse and she's fantastic! My back, especially, is a consistent problem area and I always feel so much better after a 90 min session with her. The soap dispensers in the bathroom, on the other hand, are a disaster. They really need to change those or at least add a "pull lever forward, NOT UP" label so you don't send the entire container on yourself. read more

I give Lora an outstanding rating. Plagued with horrible shoulder, I thought a massage might help. I have tried many things including PT, cortisone, tumeric, Advil to name a few. I had a very positive experience here. The storefront was clean and tidy as well as the massage rooms. The receptionists and staff were calm, efficient, and pleasant. I was a first time customer, and they gave me $30 off my hot pink himalayan salt massage treatment. Kim was my masseuse. She did exactly as I needed. I wanted peace and quiet, without too much chatter and it is exactly what I got. She gets it. Kim was a newer masseuse, but you could tell she absolutely loved what she was doing. When there is passion, there is excellence--am I right? So my hat goes off to you, lady! Also very much appreciated that they did not sell an excess amount of products in the facility. As a result they didn't push product on you and tried to sell you anything other than the service that you wanted. Gold! The next day they followed up and left me a voice mail just to ask how I was doing, without even pushing me to make a new appointment. How nice is that? Pretty good prenatal massage. I had a gift card which I made clear when making the appointment. I inquired about the new client discount since it was my first session. Whoever booked me did not tell me the gift card would not honor the discount. I was not happy about that. While the 90 minute massage was nice it wasn't​ easy on my bladder (at almost 39 weeks pregnant) for the extra $30. After leaving a message with the owner about my issue, they reimbursed the upcharge and are offering me a free massage, very pleased with how they handled he situation! read more

Massage therapist was pretty good but tried to work my friend's husband for a bigger tip by telling him how little they were paid. She actually suggested he see her in a non-Elements location for massage services and provided him with her personal cell phone number. The customer service here is awful. After going in and trying to clear up some confusions about my membership I was spoken to disrespectfully and sarcastically. I disputed a "policy" I was never informed about and was told Maryland is an at will state and they can do whatever they want. When I told the receptionist that I didn't appreciate how I was being spoken to she responded, "Honey, I have a lot of years on you". Suggesting that she can speak to me this way because I am younger. She also refused to provide me with a cancellation form and walked away from me. My fiancé went in later and said he wanted to cancel his account and she provided him with the form with no issues. We are on the same account. The fact that I was treated differently for no reason other than age is disappointing. Do not sign up for a membership here, as they denied me the correct forms to cancel and attempted to charge my account. read more

It's not surprising that no one has written a review on this place since March of 2013. First things first, you are paying for either a 60 or 80 minute massage, depending on what you book, but not actually getting a 60/80 minute massage. Their explanation on this is that they build in time for you to get undressed and settled -- but this is time you are paying for. For my appointment, I waited for 20 minutes for my massage to start, while I assume my massage therapist was taking a smoke break judging by the breath she was directing in my face for the first 30 minutes. When it's all said and done, even with their advertised specials, you are paying the same price as a higher end spa that actually provides a full massage for the allotted time. read more

My boss bought me a massage, as a gift, because I've been dealing with a lot of personal stress lately - awesome boss right?!! Well she made the appointment with Kris and I could not have been any happier! Kris is AMAZING... I have had 2 back surgeries, am a hairstylist on my feet all day using my arms a lot & I deal with A LOT of inflammation... Kris focused on pressure points and a more healing massage method and I walked out with ZERO pain - I went in incredibly sore. We consulted about my issues and what I felt I could handle beforehand & while parts of the massage were pretty painful, it was the feel good pain - I wanted that because I knew it would bring me relief in the end! I will DEFINITELY be returning to Kris and Kris only - it's hard to find someone who actually knows what they are doing with pressure points... I've seen 4 other massage therapists in my life (1-2 times each) and none of them gave me any kind of relief or confidence in their abilities like Kris has! I'm sorry to report that I am beyond disappointed with Elements in Edgewater, MD. Although the atmosphere is pleasant, clean and tranquil and my massages have been top notch, I was treated quite unprofessionally and discourteously by the spa management. The therapists and front desk personnel were kind and accommodating, and I was sorry to have to cancel my monthly massage subscription. I was actually shocked at the treatment by the Elements "manager." After many months of a monthly subscription, my credit card apparently did not process, as my bank had issued a new card to me after an unauthorized use of my credit card. Elements then refused to honor four completely paid massages under the monthly plan because my card did not process for two payments, through no fault of my own. After recently booking a massage and being told by the receptionist that it was covered prepaid by my accrued massages under the plan, when I arrived for my massage I was told that my four prepaid massages were forfeited due to "policy," and that I would need to pay full price for my 90 minute massage. Despite being assured when making my appointment that my massage was covered, and also receiving an email confirming my appointment under the "monthly" plan, the manager intervened via telephone and instructed the staff to notify me that my plan had terminated when my card did not process and that my four massages were forfeited. The staff, upon viewing my confirmation email, told me that they would contact the manager while I was in my massage appointment to take care of the situation but, upon finishing, I was told that my four massages were forfeited due to "policy" and that I could begin a new contract only by paying the full rate for my massage rather than the members' rate, still forfeiting four months of pre-paid massages. I was forced to pay full price for my massage, also forfeiting four other prepaid massages. I terminated my contract as I no longer feel comfortable with the management. I feel disrespected and taken advantage of. I would have gladly started anew with my contract and even offered to pay two months of the term during which my credit card was not valid but that was declined. I cannot believe that a "manager" would be so short-sighted and willing to lose a loyal customer. Really disappointing. I would be very reluctant to purchase a monthly massage subscription from this group. A friend who, hearing of my treatment, called to cancel her subscription, was told that she could not cancel over the phone and needed to come to the location to fill out "paperwork" as to her reason for termination. Wow, they are really mismanaged. I am sorry that the management is not of the same caliber as the massage therapists. Very disappointing. read more

I have now purchased 3 massages for family members and while the massages really got pretty good reviews, the unprofessional atmosphere and attitudes of office rate a 1 star at best. How unprofessional is it when a client walks in, the 'owner or manager' who was on the phone discussing firing an employee- continues to loudly discuss the firing! The rooms are not insulated/sound proofed at all and this type of disucssion continued to be held out in the waiting room, and could be heard all through what was suppose to be a relaxing time during the massage. Hopefully this review will serve as a wake up the manager/owner that while the employees rate high, she does not. read more

The receptionist was very unprofessional on the phone and borderline rude. At the end of making my apt. She informed me that if I didn't cancel my apt by tonight I would lose all of the money on the gift certificate if for some reason I needed to reschedule tomorrow's apt or couldn't make it. I have fibromyalgia and pretty bad neck pain that bothers me on a regular basis, so I decided to start getting massages. I signed up for the monthly program and set up my first massage. The first session was supposed to be with a female therapist, two hours prior I recieved a call letting me know that she could not do the massage but a male therapist was available. At first I cancelled the massage all together, just because I feel more comfortable with a female. The next available massage was not for 3 more days. After thinking about it I decided to get the massage by the male therapist. Hands down, the worst massage experience I have ever had. Not only was the therapist super awkward about undressing and what felt good and what did not, the massage was not relaxing at all. I wish that I had stayed at home from the get go. I decided to keep my membership, in hopes that I would be able to book another massage with a female therapist and give Elements a second chance, but either I haven't had time, or whenever I call the only therapist available is the creep I saw the first time. From a massage standpoint Elements dissapointed me enough, but when I finally went to cancel my membership after three months of not making it in, Elements dissapointed me on a whole other level. Bottom line is, for a local business I think they could really do a lot better. They definitely need to step up their game as far as customer service goes. It's a shame because I really wanted to "like" their business, but they never made the effort to make me feel like a valued customer. read more

Purchased a living social deal and had my first experience on Saturday. Therapist was 10 minutes late and then left me in the room for way too long. My only guess is that she was eating her breakfast that the receptionist had just given her. Then my massage lasted on 20 minutes, supposed to be 30 minutes and she apologized for being 5 minutes late. Start time 10:15, end time 10:35, total massage 20, not happy ....and to add further insult to injury, when I went to check out, receptionist wanted to charge me for a 55 minute massage. My husband purchased a Living Social package for three 30 minute massages. As I have a 10 week old baby at home it's hard to get away, and Elements would not let me book multiple visits within the same day because, in the managers words, 'she can't let me do this as she's turned others away at the same request.'. The Living Social deal only states that the massages have to be used during multiple visits - well I consider various times throughout the day as multiple visits unless they were back to back. In my opinion she's turned away many future customers based on unclear guidelines on the deal. She said this was my fault as I've had since July to book my massages - in my opinion it is none of her business WHEN I want to get my massages as long as they are scheduled before the expiration date. As I have a little one at home it's hard to get out of the house alone. If I was a therapist on schedule and had openings I would be furious that management did not book my slots - do they not want to keep their therapists maximized and able to earn tips while on schedule? I will not be visiting this company again and will also not recommend them to any friends or family based on poor customer service and poor management. Future deal guidelines also need to be clear and consistent. I hope the owner reads this comment about the unprofessional management of this organization.
