Although I don't come here as much as I used to while I was still a member of the Hawaii Air National Guard, it is still my go to place whenever I need some alterations done. The ladies here are really nice and do very good work, to include sizing you properly whenever you come in for a fitting so that your clothes comes out exactly how you want it to be after the alterations are done. Although the prices have gone up over the years, like everything else in the world, they still do quality dwork and they will try their best to get it done for you by the date you need it done. read more

I took a chance with this place after seeing the mixed reviews from everyone else. I went in to alter my suit pants leg length. They had a place for me to put it on and then the lady would set a pin. She put a pin on only one leg saying that she is experienced so she only needs to pin 1 side. 1 week later, I picked up the pants and asked if I could try it on before I leave. My request was rejected and I was told to come back if I don't like it. When I went home to try on the pants, the leg that had the pin was good, but the other leg was too long. I am not happy with their service overall. I'll probably come back if I am desperate, but if not, I will test my luck elsewhere. read more

This place is ideal for all your alteration needs. Every time I go here, I get good results. The price is reasonable fair and better than some other competitors out there. I have been coming to this place since it opened. I went to the original shop in wahiawa town, when I worked out there, I am glad they moved to town. They do military uniforms and law enforcement uniforms too, not to mention drapes it's conveniently located inside formally 99 ranch and there's lots of parking. This place saved the day! I found out my wife needed her dress uniform altered on Saturday , they promised it would be ready by Tuesday and it was. They called me early to ask me to come try it on and pick up. All changes were expertly made and they even steamed it for us and didn't charge. I took my ASU to get some work done to it. This was Tuesday. I was told to comeback on Friday to pickup my uniform. I was told that there was a mix up ant to come back Saturday. I returned Saturday, again the worker looked for my uniform. Nothing there, she made a phone call. I was informed that the Uniform had another mix up. I was told for the second time to come back Sunday. I hope this place didn't loose my uniform seeing I got a hot date with a DA Photo Camera. This time I just needed a patch sewn. When I told the vendor I was headed to the airport in several hours, he said "just wait" and did it on the spot. BE CAREFUL!! I have never had to write a review but I will for this place. Please make sure you double check your receipts. So on to my story... I came into the store to have my work pants tailored. My job allows me to get the length sized for free. However I decided to pay to have my pants more fitted to me. Now my coworker said he had paid $16 but they charged me $18. Not a big deal for me so I was willing to pay. I must mention it was $18 per pants, I had two. So on the paper receipt they gave me I was to be charged $37.70. Well when the owner swiped my card and handed me the receipt to sign she had blocked the price they were charging me for. See I didn't know they overcharged me until I changed my bank statements later that night. I came back to the store the next day. I showed the worker my paper receipt and told her "this is the price I am to be charged for correct?" And she replies "yes" so I move my hand from the printed receipt and said "so why was I charged $48.17?" The owner than says "per pants to be tailored is $20 and hemming costs more" I said "my job allows me to have free tailoring however I chose to pay extra to have them fitted" and she goes "fitting is $20" I said "no your worker quoted me $18 which is why the paper receipt says $37.70" she then goes to blame another worker of hers and says she's done this in the past. She's an older lady so she must have forgot she was the one who rang me up.... all I've gotta say is be careful. They could have a lawsuit on their hand if this happens frequently. read more

I've been going to this location for the past few years now because a family member recommended it to me. I've done only simple hemming of my pants with them. Now in 2019 it costs $10. When I first started it was only $9. Inflation? For the $10 it's drop off that day. And the pick up is 1 week later. Not sure the rate on rush jobs. I noticed a lot of the military personnel use this location too. There's one fitting room. Located to the left of the front entrance of Ranch 99. Near a Chinese restaurant in the corner. There are a few dining tables in front of the shop. Lots of parking but can get busy during lunch hours. The only reason why it has a minus 1 star is because I had them taper one of Reyn Spooner pants. It ripped at the seams. Maybe because of my fat a$$? Or because of the sewing? Not sure. Oh well... I paid $10 for the pants when Ala Moana location had a super sale. Total investment on the pants was $25. Wore them a few times before it decided to blow me new ventilation right up the middle crotch area. It's down the road from my place, so it makes it convenient for me to go this place. They even lied to her saying we did some things to the dress. We take a look at the dress and not one thing was changed. This place is a small, sorta hole in the wall place tucked in the back of Moanalua 99 (formerly 99 ranch). The ladies speak good enough English and are usually quick to get the job done. Their prices are very reasonable too. I've had a lot of patches sewn on my motorcycle vest and also took several David's Bridal dresses here too. Other places charge a bit more for a simple hem or taking in a dress. To me, they are cheap. I trust them with my expensive business suits and dresses. So far I have had good experiences with them. I see a lot of military personnel bringing their uniforms in too. They seem to have lots of experience, especially with the military uniforms. Depending on their workload, you can ask them to "rush" your order, of course with an extra cost. I kinda don't want to tell everyone how good they are because then everyone will bring their stuff here..... And that may cause them to get too busy for my stuff haha jus kidding. The turnaround time was pretty good though, I dropped it off on a Saturday, picked it up on Tuesday. They don't offer service of putting on the ribbons and awards for you either. Not many other places are able to perform this service for such a reasonable price with such a quick turnaround time. The job was performed flawlessly and I am very satisfied with the quality and result of their work. Parking is located in the old ranch 99 now called "Moanalua 99" and is located in the food court area. It's easiest to enter from the left side of the building. I had the worst experience here! I brought in a maxi dress that needed to be altered because short girl problems and it was not ready the day they said it would be! I dropped the dress off on 2/12 Monday and was told to come back in a week , I came back today 2/20 and still had to wait 30mins for them to finish sewing my dress. No apology, nothing just a "Wait 30 mins." And they didn't even iron my dress so I got it back wrinkled. Unprofessional! But I should have known better looking at the shop, it was very messy and unorganized. The price I paid ($24) was not worth the experience I went through with them, I would rather spend the extra money then have to deal with such unprofessional people again. Been going here for years! Each time I'm never disappointed. These ladies are quick and pay attention to detail. I've gotten my prom dresses altered here and now my military uniforms. Because I'm short, I always need to get my dresses hemmed. They always manage to finish in a day. I dont ever need to ask for expedited service, but knowing that its possible is even better. Needed a real wuick alteration done on my grandpa's two pants. Both of them needed to be let out one inch. Thats it. Simple. Apprently, its not simple. The material is too thick. They dont have the thread. They dont have the elastic. She was so busy telling me what they didnt have that i began to wonder why they were located under alterations. I didnt even get a chance to ask another question before she dismissed to help the next person. I guess it was worth the drive since i needed to stop at Servco but i will never come here again. The tie I brought in was returned to me damaged after cleaning- new tie worn only once. I picked up the tie after having it cleaned, and as soon as I got home I noticed two holes in the bottom front of the tie. It looks as though they put a dry cleaning tag through it, then removed it and placed the tag on the back of the tie, but the damage was already done. Looks like two staple holes. I called and told them what was wrong and they asked me to come back in. I turned around and drove back to the shop, showed them the tie and they did not deny causing the damage. They asked where I purchased the tie (Macy's) and told me to leave it, they would find a replacement. I said- "You're not going to be able to find the exact same tie, it was purchased in California." They had me leave the tie anyway, gave me a receipt and asked me to come back in a week. I asked them to call me when it was ready- I'm busy and don't have time to babysit their mistake. No call, I drove back to the shop two weeks later. Tie hanging by register, same tie, same holes. What does the lady say? "Of course we can't fix holes. How much was the tie?" WTF. Sorry- little perturbed. I made three trips to the shop for one tie and no resolution. Why waste my time. Here is where I went wrong- I was asked how much the tie was new. My reply- "I don't have the receipt, I do not remember." so to correct the problem, I was refunded $4 for the dry cleaning alone. Not the full price of what the tie was worth (definitely more than $4), not reimbursed for wasted time. read more

I am a big yelp believer so I went to El'Gant to have my pants altered. I did not think that they were any more pleasant than other businesses but I did notice that the man, who was at the front, was not very welcoming and seemed to give the impression that they did not need my business. Several days later, I went back to the store and greeted everyone with a smile and a good morning. I stated that I was there to pick up my pants. The man stood up and just said, "Receipt", and projected an annoyance that I was interrupting whatever he was doing on his laptop. I apologized for having lost my receipt and he abruptly said, "ID". No please, no hello, no pleasantries! He took about 5 minutes looking for my pants and then went to the register and asked for my payment. After I signed the receipt, he immediately turned away from me and did something else. No thank you, no smile, but just an impression that I was an annoyance. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the kind of establishment who thinks that their customers owe them something! They don't deserve my business that is for sure. read more

Situated beside the Post Office, it has become one of my official 2-birds-with-one- stone errand place for mail and dry cleaning! What do I like about El'gant. I like that it's cheap. 3 garments for less than 12 dollars. And although nothing much is el'gant about the store, they accept card! I love this place. There's nothing they can't/won't do for me. My last trip in, I needed my stripes sewn on RIGHT THEN and they did it on the spot for $10. I was expecting and ready to pay at least $20 since it was an emergency rush, but nope, super cheap. Their prices are much lower than the on base alterations place. The older woman that everyone is talking about in the reviews is hilarious. She tells it how it is and I like it (I had a problem with my GI skirt and she said "OMG who did the alterations? It's so ugly..." lmbo I can see how her cut and dry demeanor might rub people the wrong way, but if you see all of the items they have in that store, you'd understand. I don't go anywhere else. Military alterations are expensive, period. I think the only place that you would get a deal is overseas. I came here because I expect them to already know where to put patches and service stripes, and have an idea of how a fitted uniform should look. Customer service is okay. The older lady there is friendlier than the other staff. I brought in untailored uniforms so there was a lot of work to be done. If you are doing alterations, you have to put on your uniform and ask them to look at it to make sure that it fits right. Either that or ask someone to come with you to point out any discrepancies. When I came back to pick them up, I put them on again and got the older lady to look at it again. More alterations had to be done. She said just the service coat but she had forgotten that she had put in pins on the trousers to make additional adjustments. Make sure that you are paying attention because they are busy and can be forgetful. I paid $130 to bring in the back of the service coat, slim the sleeves, shorten the trouser length and bring in the butt area. I also got the rank and service stripes put on. It has been a long long time since I have been to a tailor shop so I figured $130 was about right for all that work. I wasn't in a rush to get it back but the turnaround time is reasonable. read more

It took 2 weeks for a simple taking in at the waist and the seam is now crooked. Also, they LOST my favorite pair of pants. The store is extremely cluttered so I am not surprised. I've been going to them for 11 years for all my military uniform alterations and dry cleaning needs. Cheaper than any base alterations and dry cleaners. They also don't charge an arm and leg to have it rushed. If you absolutely need something sewed on day of, most times they will do it right then and there for you. Same lil old lady runs the front.
