I had my daughter's disabled BMW towed to Elite based upon the good reviews I'd read on Yelp. I was extremely happy with the service. Rudy promptly diagnosed the problem as a failed fuel pump. He quoted a very reasonable price for that repair and recommended also replacing the brakes and several other wear items that I knew were near end-of-life. I've owned BMWs for years, so it was clear to me that he was giving honest advice. One thing he mentioned that gave me additional confidence in both his expertise and business ethic was that his shop presses ball joints out and back instead of replacing entire arm assemblies, because the arms generally don't go bad. I totally agree with that approach, which saves customers money and avoids unnecessary waste. Dealers and other repair shops generally replace whole assemblies. All the recommended repairs and maintenance were done in a day. Elite's responsiveness and quality of service were really outstanding. read more

It was a bent inner rim probably from a pothole, which they don't fix so they recommended a tire specialist in Santa Monica that has been fantastic. I've owned my '01 E46 BMW M3 for just about two years now. If you know anything about cars, you'd know what a special machine this is. So obviously, I do my best to make sure she's running right and maintained meticulously. After some VERY disturbing experiences with GT International, I read about Elite Automotive on M3forums.net. The reviews were positive, but I did some research myself. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough. Rudy, first of all, is a BMW master tech. He's been doing this for over 20 years probably more than half his life. So he knows what the deal is. When I got to his shop I noticed his framed E46 M3 master certification which made me feel great about taking my car to him. This guy is remarkable. His prices are low, he works FAST and he will NEVER recommend you do any work without showing you the issue to your face. I had a few problems with my car that he found, he jacked the car up and pointed everything out to me on the spot. I've since recommended this place to everyone I know with a BMW. If you care about the life of your BMW, I'd highly recommend Rudy. He's a great guy. read more

Rudy and elite automotive are class acts. I don't normally write yelp reviews but felt compelled to after my experience today. I found Rudy when I had a 2005 bmw M3, and if I'm honest, he was one of the main reasons I felt comfortable buying a used bmw x5m recently. Knowing I would be able to take my car to Rudy and get expert advice for a reasonable cost gave me confidence. Thankfully I haven't had any major issues with the x5m so far, but t I was scheduled to drop my car off with Rudy for an issue that he helped diagnose. Upon arriving, I learned that Rudy had contacted the bmw dealer and there was actually an active recall for the part he was going to fix. Rudy recommended I call the dealer and see if they could do it for free, despite the fact that he had already gotten the part so he could fix it. He could have gone forward with the job and not told me about the recall, but didn't. I'm sure a lot of shops would have. This story is exemplary of the type of service that Rudy and elite auto provide, and it's why I'm a customer for life. Update: BMW wouldn't cover the recall, so Rudy took care of me. While taking care of the original problem, he found something else wrong and was able to quickly and expertly fix the issue. Rudy and his crew are trustworthy and stand by their work. I've been to Elite a couple of times now, and will likely keep on going back to Rudy in the future. This small shop is exactly what I'm looking for in a mechanic. A good guy who takes pride in his work, is down to earth, delivers as promised, and all for a good price. One of the things I hate about other independent BMW shops is that they take themselves too seriously. They buy some cheap leather couch and put a coffee maker in the waiting room and call themselves a "dealer alternative" shop to justify rates that are 80% as much as what the dealer charges. Dealer rates are high as it is, but it comes with the reputation, training, and facilities of the manufacturer. If something goes wrong, I'm a 1-800 number away from raising hell. Dealer alternatives offer no such reps and warranties, nor do I need them. Elite Automotive does it right. Good work, good attitude, good price. Works for me. read more

Beyond being great at what he does, Rudy is a kind person. I had some issues with what I thought was my suspension, and Rudy requested that he ride in the car with me to drive around so he could see what was going on. I live fairly close by, and given the rise in the anti-Asian hate crimes, felt unsafe walking back home by myself. Not only was he completely cool with me bringing my dog in the backseat during this short drive (so that she could walk home with me), but he also offered to drop me off at home and drive back to the shop. While entirely unnecessary, I was very grateful that he would take the time out of his already busy schedule to make sure I was safe. After the check up, he said that while there was nothing wrong with my suspension, there was something loose with the engine. He then explained that the situation was fine and didn't need fixing at the time. An honest, kind person who is great at his job. As long as I have a BMW and live in Los Angeles, I will be going to him for my car needs. read more

Ten years have passed since I wrote my last positive review about Rudy and his team and felt compelled to rave about these guys once more. My X3 was recently diagnosed at the main dealer with a Head Gasket failure and they wanted $10,000 to fix it, having used Rudy in the past I called and was glad to hear he was still operating. I dropped the vehicle off to get a valued opinion and was extremely pleased to hear that in fact it was an oil seal that only cost $400 to replace including labor, never felt so happy forking out money for a repair. ;-) Took the 5 series for oil change yesterday was done in less than 90 minutes and one of the best breakfast coffee joints in Venice is just across the street, so no hardship there. As a result, I began a quest to find the best independent BMW-specialized mechanic in the West LA area to service my beloved 2004 BMW 3-Series. Since I'm familiar with general car maintenance and well versed in specific BMW issues, I felt confident in my ability to evaluate all the many so-called "BMW specialists". My car was due for an "Inspection 2", also known as the most involved and costly BMW scheduled maintenance procedure for my car model. I contacted over 10 BMW-specialized shops in LA for price estimates and to confirm specific details about their service. Most knew what they were talking about, but some skimp by not using top-shelf BMW OEM fluids. I narrowed down my list down to the top 3 in terms of overall knowledge, reputation amongst BMW enthusiasts, friendliness, and price. I investigated these top 3 shops further with additional conversations and personally visiting 2 of them. I determined that Elite Automotive was the best. I found them through a fellow BMW enthusiast. The owner, Rudy Rodriguez, is a BMW Master Tech so he clearly knows BMWs. I made a personal visit and he was very friendly and answered all my questions accurately. I confirmed that his shop uses BMW diagnostic computers and BMW specialized tools. Best of all, his price estimate was among the most competitive on an apples-to-apples basis.
