Rudy is the best of the best. He knows everything about all types of BMW including my 2004 M3 E46 with the hydraulic clutch. He is very thorough on his diagnosis and very direct in telling you what the issues are, and he keeps all the nuts and bolts to show you after the fact when you pick up the car to make sure you understand 100% what has been done. This is my kind of automotive shop. I took a 2009 BMW 328 here which was in desperate need of some very serious safety concerns, such as brakes front and back as well as a fan belt and some other miscellaneous engine items. I met Rudy who was consistently professional, to the point , courteous , and pleasant. He quoted me a more than fair price. He was never pushy and offered his opinion on other items that needed to be fixed on the car. Rudy is the BMW whisperer. With 80k miles on my 2003 M3, the ride was getting loose, and the exhaust system plagued by a nasty 1.8k RPM rattle that both SM BMW, and another well regarded shop said only could be stopped by replacing a majority of the exhaust system. A $250 re-weld fixed the rattle; front and rear suspension problems were the culprit for the ride. 3 days later - all repaired, car drives like it did when new. Since I posted my last update, Rudy has made every effort to reach out to me to address my concerns and to explain his interpretation of the events that led to my dissatisfaction. He asked for an in-person meeting, and at no point did he ask me to or suggest that I modify my negative review. To the contrary, he said that he was sorry about my bad experience, and that he simply wished that I had come to him before posting the review. So, I could not in good conscious let the negative review stand. Without going into a lot of detail, I'll just say that Rudy has convincingly demonstrated his integrity, and has proven that he truly values his reputation, my business and our service relationship. Once again Rudy and his team came through for me splendidly. The A/C in my 2001 -740i went out as I was returning to Los Angeles from Barstow. It happened on a Thursday evening. I called Rudy and left him message Thursday night that I would be coming in the next morning and begged him to at least diagnose, if not repair, as I was leaving for hot climate the following Tuesday at 6:00 am. Sure enough as I pulled into the shop on Friday morning at 7:45 am they had a lift open and waiting. Rudy diagnosed the problem immediately had parts available and fixed it within the hour. THE AMAZING ITEM IS:: 1 of the 2 parts I needed was not in stock locally and would not have been available for 1-3 days. SO... Rudy took the necessary part ( a plastic cover) off his car (also a 2001- 740i and used it on my car AT NO CHARGE FOR THAT PART. Of course I've been a customer for almost 10 yrs and never had a payment returned! But Rudy treats everyone similarly. Based on Yelp and Nextdoor recommendations, I went to Elite with my BMW 330i. Rudy is the real deal. He's a former BMW service manager and is straight forward. He uses OEM parts and his prices were by far the best compared to any other shops, and less than half of the dealer. Yes, his shop is inside a boat storage yard, but who cares? I've had two BMW's over the past 10 years, and I have never had a mechanic that is more honest or professional as Rudy. He is able to diagnose what the problem is, give a quote, and always produces when he says the car will be ready. I've also taken my car in before when I heard a weird noise, and after him driving it around the block, he said everything was fine. Turned out that I was dragging something. I came in with a transmission oil leak and even though I didn't have an appointment Rudy and Francisco took care of me and got the work done very quickly. They ended up finding several other problems with my car and explained the severity of each problem and the options for fixing them. They got my car done exactly when they said it would be done and showed me the parts that they had replaced just in case I was interested. They even replaced some parts as a courtesy at no cost to me. On top of that they gave the car back to me nice and clean which was very nice given that when I brought it in it was quite dirty. TL;DR - if you're looking for an amazing mechanic for your BMW, look no further; Rudy's your guy! All the previous very positive reviews of Rudy led me to him, as I was looking for a new mechanic having recently moved to LA. Rudy blew me away with his excellent work, honesty, and very fair prices. It's always amazing to see people go above and beyond and pleasantly surprise you this way. In my case, it was twofold: Rudy kept the old parts from everything he replaced and showed them to me (super worn-out brakes and busted control arm bushing) as well as the boxes of the BMW OEM replacements; adding to that, I happily discovered that my engine was washed spotless - a great perk, since part of the job done to my car was replacing a leaking old oil gasket, which had made things pretty messy with oil leaks. read more

These guys are the best. In the past 18 months, I have taken my car in to Elite 3 times for service. Two out the three times Rudy did not charge me. Does mean that he's crazy? Does this mean they work for free? No. It means that Rudy runs a business that is honest, fair and decent - words rarely associated with BMW repair. Truth be told, some of the work described above was easy and quick, but had I gone to the BMW dealer, they would have charged me up the wazoo. Rudy and the crew at Elite are the BEST. I have a confession. I hate my BMW. Seriously, I hate it. It costs me about $1K in maintenance and 2-3 days of my life without a car once a year. I'm sure all BMW owners that are off warranty feel my pain. Right on cue, I had an issue with the battery and starter after not driving it for a while b/c I was traveling. I will not bore people with the details, but Rudy took care of it in ONE DAY even though I showed up late to my appointment with Elite. They even washed the car (did a better job than the car wash down the street). Just great service. I moved to Hollywood from the Westside, but I will only take my lemon to Rudy. He takes care of it, gives me a reasonable price and is just a really nice guy. I have been to 4-5 BMW shops on the Westside in the past and they have been not good to terrible. This is my first time posting a review on Yelp in several years, and oddly enough I"m pretty sure that the last time I posted was also to write Rudy a fantastic review for work done on a BMW I owned at that point in time. Recently, the SES light on my 2001 330i came on and spat out a few fault codes...so I couldn't get her smogged. Called Rudy yesterday and he told me to drop the car off first thing in the morning. Dropped her off by 9am, he called by 11:30 to tell me what needed to be fixed, and my car was ready by 3:30. Trust the 5 star reviews, Rudy (BMW Master Technician) and his team of experts are the best in the business. Great education and pricing on parts and labor. After positive word of mouth and sterling reviews on Yelp and Google reviews, I brought my 2011 535i for a diagnostic, oil and oil filter change. Rudy showed me the BMW OEM 5W-30 synthetic oil they use and walked me step by step how they would approach the diagnostic. He also ensured me they would call me to be fully transparent on what needed servicing and the price before they touched anything. No upsell, just honest work. They replaced the dirty oil filter (again, he showed me it afterwards) and changed the oil. The car was ready within a few hours. * There's no reason to go to the BMW service center unless you're under the original warranty (as maintenance is covered in that case). I live in the LB area but I work in SaMo so I decided to see what all the hype is about. Rudy is that dude. Family man. Loves his craft. Honest. We had a dope conversation in his office. He's no nonsense but genuine. Good dude. I came in with my E39 last week because my SES light was on and needed to pass a smog check. The car has 165K miles so I was prepared to spend some cash to get it back into shape. Turns out that the car probably wouldn't pass a smog check even I decided to go with the repairs. Rudy was honest enough to not take my money and told me to buy a new car. Any other guy I know would have taken my money and ran. I recommended Rudy to a work colleague who has an E90 and he confirmed that Rudy does great work. Got a water pump and some other cooling components done at a fraction of the stealership price. I am impressed by the service I received at Elite Automotive. There was an accidental spill of a can of Monster on the bottom of the passenger seat which caused some fuses to malfunction. Rudy took care of all the issues as well as my regular maintenance of oil service and break flush. He was extremely professional and prompt. I am bummed that I no longer live in the area. He would absolutely be my go to mechanic for any issues. I did recently call to get a record of what I had done there and he took the time to go over everything that was worked on during my service. After losing a long-time TRUSTED independent BMW mechanic (he retired and closed shop), I was on a search for a new one. I was tired of the "stealers"... I mean... "dealers" ripping me off- especially the last one I went to. I just have no more patience for dealers' poor customer service, too. You would think dealers are the best out there. So NOT true for some dealers! Anyway, via a recommendation from a friend and BMW enthusiast, I took my BMW to Rudy. With over 20+ years experience at a BMW dealer and independent European car shops, you can be assured that he knows his stuff- without the BS and poor service and workmanship that some dealers provide. His shop is "up and coming" as the previous reviewer has noted, but he sure operates like he's been in business for many years. His repair knowledge, workmanship, and experience speaks for itself, but his customer service is top notch! Once again, I'm glad to have peace of mind when it comes to maintenance and repair on my vehicle; and an independent shop I can trust. *** ADDED NOTE: In the interim between finding a trusted independent mechanic, I took my BMW to a local dealer for a repair. It took 3 visits before the dealer finally fixed the SAME problem. In fact, after my 2nd visit to the dealer, I took my BMW to Rudy's shop for a separate long 'road trip' inspection. It was Rudy who correctly diagnosed the problem. He advised me to take it back to the dealer for the 3rd visit for them to FINALLY fix the problem-- since the dealers guarantee their work for at least a year. The dealer finally fixed the problem after the 3rd visit (at least I hope so). There's just no excuse for the repeat visits to the dealer for the same problem. The poor customer service and sub-par workmanship, especially from any BMW dealership is inexcusable! They no longer have my business.
