Impressive customer service, not my favorite cake. I contacted Elite custom cakes for them to make a gender reveal cake for me and my husband. I wanted something small since it was just for the two of us. They made us a "smash cake" for a great price. I paid the first half of the deposit when I placed the order, and the second half once I had the gender results. They were able to make my cake that same day! They told me 3pm and when I arrived the cake wasn't finished. I had to wait 15minutes and the piping did look a little rushed. I would have preferred they said a later time and were able to make the piping look as neat as possible. This being said I'm still impressed and grateful they made the cake on such short notice. I also requested pastel colored filling and it was very dark. Unfortunately I did not love the taste of the cake and couldn't not eat more than a few bites. The vanilla icing was overly sweet. I would be interested in going back and trying some cupcakes though! Overall the cake served its purpose at a very great price! read more

To the owner below: I don't feel irresponsible; the person who purchased the cake did in fact have a conversation with the staff. He expressed that he was discontent and they just shrugged off the concern due to the fact that it had already been produced. Your patrons should not be expected to repeatedly contact the business, we do not owe you repeat words or repeat business. It is in fact, YOUR responsibility to earn that from us. If you cannot fulfill quality orders in a three to seven day turnaround, you perhaps should not offer the service. Clearly, you can't get it done. You can do all of the math and science you want; the cake is green. Also - Never has a business responded so rudely... I don't agree that the review was petty. I was being honest. I said what was true of my experience and you did not like it, so you came to attack. It does not change what you've earned. But your ethic shows in your product, your poor grammar and typos, and in your response. I am happy that this review stands for all to see. You will not bully me. I didn't need to know what the fees or processes were; I was not your customer. Which says even more about the experience and the weight of this review because I did not lose any money. I was just provided a TERRIBLE experience at ZERO cost. But after hearing how your staff treated the actual customer having spent his money, there was no way that I would follow behind to receive the same. Update to curious patrons: The cake was very sweet with the flavor of pure white sugar and lacked the cocoa flavor that red velvet should have. The icing for red velvet is usually cream cheese between layers, even if the outside is buttercream. I've seen it done either way, but this was not tasty. It did, however, retain its moisture nicely beneath the green sheath. The cake was unfortunately wasted after the festive cutting. The business is obviously not "happy to chat". Yesterday, I called fairly early in the day to see if they had availability to make a 3-tier custom cake for the date of 8/1 as well as receive a quote. I briefly spoke to a lady on the phone who said they were available and then I was asked to send pictures/ information for what I was looking for. Spent approx 30 min texting back and forth about what my wishes and answering questions and all seemed to go well. I was to receive a quote in a few minutes, thereafter. Well, over 6 hours went by and nothing. So, I text back again just to let them know I'm still interested and waiting for a quote and as I thought they became busy. No problem. So the person precedes to tell me they don't have the mold to do flowers on the cake and if they have to do it by hand it would be a bit pricey. Again, that's not an issue, I'm not on a budget. Then they tell me the quote would not include the topper. Again I said no problem, that can be purchased online. Still no quote. About 40 min later I send a message to let them know I still had not received a quote and.......crickets (no response). Quite unprofessional. If you can't do something, just say so and spare us both the time wasted! read more

Recently visited Elite Custom Cakes in Norfolk. This quaint bakery is just what we needed in the neighborhood. The space is beautifully decorated in cool and warm blues and you feel welcomed as soon as you enter the shop. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the amazing glass case that houses all the amazing homemade treats. From cupcakes, to brownies, cookies and full cakes there is something for everyone. They even have fresh pastries and coffee! Jose and Lisa, the owners are very friendly and highly skilled in cake creations. From what they had on display and the photos on the walls you can just tell they are both extremely talented. Now to the important part, the taste. I had some peppermint bark and a chocolate peppermint cupcake. Both were amazing. The peppermint bark had just the right amount of peppermint and white chocolate and dark chocolate. The consistency was smooth and creamy. Absolutely delicious! The cupcake was awesome as well. The cake was very flavorful with a natural taste. You can tell they made this from scratch. I was recently looking for a dessert for my husband's work party and came here because I had heard good things about it from neighbors.
