Dr. Yuen is truly exceptional! I should have written this review a very long time ago but I've now been coming to Elite Endodontics for 7 years. As someone who has very long roots/ hard teeth to work on I have experienced a lot of shaming, negativity, and overall just horrible bedside manner with other dentists. Not here! Dr Yuen and staff make you feel so comfortable and welcomed. Also they have great senses of humor which lightens the mood along with the enjoyable music that makes you forget you are getting a root canal. I originally was referred to him when another incompetent dentist got 3 dental files stuck in my tooth during a procedure. Dr Yuen was able to retrieve all 3 files and save the tooth!! Incredible work and took it as a challenge when any other dentist would have just said pull it. I fell asleep during my root canal, mic drop. But seriously, Dr. Yuen is the best! I saw my family dentist when I felt a little tooth ache and was referred to Dr. Yuen. Over the weekend my tooth ache worsened and I texted him to move up my appointment. He responded right away on a Saturday. He was very thoughtful, gave me wonderful advice on which combo of pain meds to take, sent prescriptions to my local pharmacy and moved up my appointment. Elite Endodontics does not care about their patient being in pain. They lack professionalism on all levels! You pay a dear price to get a root canal but don't expect to have them follow up on you! I was referred there to have a root canal by my dentist Dr. Tasaka. I started having issues with that tooth after it was repaired. I made two separate appointments months apart and the office canceled my appointments both times. The receptionist said that the doctor was not well and that they would contact me. They never followed up with an appointment! I called their office, left messages multiple times. When I finally got an answer, they would did not have another specialist to refer me to. They said to go back to my dentist. I went back to my dentist twice to report my complaints. They tried to call Elite Endodontics and said it was closed. After months of being in pain without any return calls from them, I finally went to see Dr. Sean Gurney instead. He was able to get me in quickly, take X-rays and explain the problem to me. I would never refer, say anything positive or nice about Elite Endodontics except that I hope Dr. Yuen sees this review. Had an over the top amazing experience and had to share! Dr. Yuen, Bianca and Donna are an incredible team. Donna was extremely helpful. She let me know all of the costs and steps involved. Dr. Yuen goes above and beyond for his patients and is a steward of the global community. He picked the nicest and most comfortable chairs for his patients. More comfortable than a recliner. He and Bianca are extremely efficient and communicative during the procedures. I had no surprises. It felt more like a peaceful meditation than a root canal. A huge thank you to the Elite team!! Dr. Yuen is one of the best dentists that have treated me. He's done several root canals and a crown. I liked that he always described what to expect when numbing my teeth. Nothing was painful besides a pinch. My last dentist had my gums feeling swollen and my teeth were sensitive for a long time. Dr. Yuen checked up on me everyday after my procedure until I was healed. The absolute worst experience for any business dental or not. Called to make appt 2 weeks prior my co pay quoted Day of appointment 3 hours before they called to confirm appointment!!! Terrible right here then reconfirm payment. 15 mins prior to appointment received message instructing me to fill out form before coming to office? There's no way I can do this while I'm driving then I show up to office where they are surprised I haven't filled out forms? Reconfirm my payment After waiting for 1 hour for service which is terrible then another hour after service they try to bill me for 2.5 times the original quote because of a mistake by their staff!! One word. Awesome! I was referred to Dr Yorita by my dentist because she recommended a root canal on my molar in preparation for my braces. I have seen two other dentist in previous past and have not had a root canal done in awhile so I was very scared of doing this procedure. When I called to make this appointment, Ruby re-assured me that Dr Yorita was really good and that everything was going to be just fine. I was also able to process an online patient registration in advance to avoid doing so when I got there on the day of my appointment. Today, was my visit for my root canal appointment, and I walked in really scared. The office is really clean. Ruby, the front office clerk is super nice and friendly and I believe this is what makes an office great! It all starts at the front. But it gets better! I was called to the exam room, and the assistant was also really nice, fun and caring. But even better, Dr Yorita walks in, and she is the sweetest, kindest, compassionate dentist who explains thoroughly of what she's going to do and he very gentle with what she does! I came back home for vacation and found myself in increasing pain until I couldn't handle it another day! I went to see a general dentist who said I had an abscess and needed to refer me to an endodontist to relieve the pain and for a possible root canal. Elite EndodontIcs was able to squeeze me in the same day and were so awesome from the time I walked in the door to the time I left! Ruby helped try to figure out what my insurance would cover being away from home and Dr. Yuen and his staff were a so amazing relieving my pain!! He didn't try to overcharge me and only did what was needed to relieve my pain and prescribe some pain killers and antibiotics until I can get home to see my regular dentist. I wish I could have had him finish all the work- he did a great job and his office was so friendly and professional. I would highly recommend their office if you are in need of endodontic care! Absolutely, I don't back to this office. I had bad experience. This experience was few years ago but it was still traumatic for me. First, 4 times rescheduled from Dr side reason. I made appointment at 8am, but they called me for cancel appointment that same day morning at 7:20am. I living in Honolulu, so it's ok. But if I live in far away, I'll start driving already. Finally, I had counseling then upper left teeth procedure. I told Dr that anesthesia doesn't work well for me so I had anesthesia twice at during procedure time. Then Dr injection 2nd anesthesia but needle going to though to my face, sinus area and suddenly my throat felt painful and burning!! I told Dr and assistant. They just gave me small water bottle but I couldn't rinse it out right away. They said drink it. I started tear my eyes and coughing a lot, then finally assistant put vacuum nozzle to my mouth but only once. Then, I went to rinse it off at outside from office bathroom. After that, I started suddenly running water from nose and pressure sore my face and cheek. Root canal area is uncomfortable pain. I went to root canal so I understand that. But I didn't think my cheek area sore and sinus pressure sore and running water coming. It's suddenly running when I look down and I can't control myself. When I had counseling time, Dr told me to I had to go there office at twice. Root canal procedure and post op. But after this happened Dr said I don't need to back his office, just go back to my general dentist for post op. I felt Dr thrown out his responsibility to patients. I thought Dr and his assistant chair side manners are problems also. They talked about other Dr and there assistant rumors, laughs and used not good kind words during my procedure time. I was wake up, opened eyes with sunglasses. I think Dr's skills and character is maybe different, but I didn't want to hear about this kind story and not good words during my procedure. And I thought and I felt Dr pay attention to my procedure!? That's why anesthesia needle through to my cheek, sinuses area !? Anyway I don't back to this office again. I don't want to this happening to my cheek throat again and I feel uncomfortable at this office. I had pressure pain inside my face and tear left eyes, running water comes from nose about 1 month. Root canal procedure isn't something I was thrilled to have, but I have to say Dr Yuen & his staff were wonderful. I really find Donna to be the most exceptional receptionist, she even called me back on Saturday. Do you know what it means to have someone in a doctor's office genuinely care about your welfare to the point where they go above and beyond that call of duty? It's priceless. I really would have a mental breakdown if these guys were not available simply because my teeth have been the bane of my existence and to have a capable, caring, and exceptionally skilled endodontist on my roster has ben life changing for me. Unlike the other yelpers, my experience with Elite endodotics is rather NAGATIVE, and ended up leaving the office without the procedure. I picked Dr. Yuen as my endodontist based on all the reviews I researched on and a positive referral from my general dentist who I have been with for years. Today was my second time coming in to the office for a procedure, and the patient relation experience was shockingly the WORST. First of all, I was only told upon arrival at the office saying No visitors with me, rather than last time there was one visitor allowed. My husband drove me 30 mins from home to my appt, worried about it may not be safe for me to drive after the procedure. Dona? I believe that's her name, who I realized has been in touch with me, claimed:"Nobody told you one visitor or no visitor allowed, but no visitor today." She never get back to me about the estimated cost with my two insurance. Then she has been talking back to me and asked:"do you want your procedure today?" I feel like we should not drive all the way for nothing and want to give a chance and ask for talking to Dr. Yuen. She told me:"No you cannot." Then I asked again, she said:"Dr. Yuen is with a patient." And then when I asked again, she told me:"Dr. Yuen is not here." And she turned her back and walked into the room, leaving us hanging in the waiting room. At this point, I feel like I should leave and look for another endodontist. I swear to you Dr. Yuen is like the Hans Solo of Endodontics but with a cheerful attitude! He is the third specialist I've seen for the same tooth. Every 10 yrs the infection comes back because nobody could ever get to the bottom of the canal and clean it properly. That means by the time I saw Dr Yuen I had two root canals from two specialists and had paid for two porcelain caps with the original being destroyed during the second procedure. I wasn't very optimistic and was thinking of maybe pulling the tooth, add that to the fact I don't care for dentist in general and I walked in with a little rain cloud hanging over me. Dr Yuen gave his little speech on the best plan of action and I had to smile because he makes Endodontics sound very exciting! Now I dunno how he did it when the other guys couldn't but he actually managed to get to the bottom of the root and clear out the infection. I had started to lose bone but now it's growing back ( which I didn't know could happen) and he saved the crown! So I have the same crown from 10yrs ago even though I had a brand new procedure. He did a 6 month follow up to check everything and he's pleasant as pure sunshine. Seriously GO see him. He'll make sure you leave with a clean bill of oral health and a HIGH 5! Wow wow wow. I love Dr. Yorita and Dr. Yuen. The office is modern, clean and beautiful. I had the most excruciating pain in my life. I was literally crying like a baby it was so painful. I won't say what special accommodations they made because I don't want them to be unnecessarily bothered but let's just say it was out of this world and I am forever grateful. They are fully deserving of their ratings and they've made a lifelong client out of me. Hopefully I won't have to see them again though lol! I absolutely LOVE Dr. Yorita and Bianca! They turned my horrible experience with a shitty dentist into a comforting procedure. They're front desk staff, Laura and Ruby, were awesome. Especially Laura who helped squeeze me into their schedule with an "emergency" root canal (again, thanks to the bonehead dentist I went to redo a filling with). The office is located above Long's on Waialae (3rd floor), on the far left (if you're facing Long's). Don't get lost like me :P The office itself is super clean. Decent sized lounge and beverage area (coffee, water and juice - nice touch). The BEST part is they play some pretty dope music that cover a broad spectrum. I LOVE it. In fact, I had to stop myself from bobbing my head a few times while Dr. Yorita was working on my problem tooth. I would like to start off by saying that the customer service at Elite Endodontics is amazing! I had an appointment scheduled but due to the amount of pain that I was in, they were able to squeeze me in earlier. I informed them that I would have to bring my infant with me and they helped me with accommodations. He was able to sit in the waiting room with a friend and they even allowed me to get up and check on him mid procedure. Dr. Yuen made me feel super comfortable especially with my fear of oral procedures. He was super quick and even talked to me throughout the procedure to get me to relax more. {WARNING: LONG POST} I wanted a second opinion after my dentist stated I needed a root canal. I've been at this dentist for almost 3 years - cleanings every 6 months and I couldn't believe it. How did it get this bad and how was it never noticed? No one wants to hear you that you need a root canal, my stomach literally sank. I came to yelp and found Elite Endodontics, I saw another person went to the same dental office as me and came here for her root canal and gave positive reviews, so it was a no brainer. I called and Laura was able to schedule me in last min which was awesome, she also emailed me all the forms so I could fill it out before arriving. 3/15/2017) I really loved how modern everything was. I checked in and was given an iPad to review the consent forms - like what?! No more flimsy paper, clipboards, and digging around for a pen. They even had a mini fridge in the waiting room for their clients! We do the X-rays and its confirmed I needed the root canal, but Dr. Yuen literally broke the ice and it wasn't awkward or scary and I actually couldn't wait to get it done. I even "won" best reaction when asked if I was expecting lol. I scheduled it the next week (3/22/17) Alright, it's root canal day! As soon as I parked I was ready to call and cancel because I was so nervous. I was scheduled for 12:45 and the procedure didn't start till 2:00, however, that didn't bother me since it gave me more time to get my nerves in check. Am I the only one who freaks out at dental offices and hospitals? I had to go to the bathroom so much, but the front desk was understanding when I kept grabbing the key lol. They were nice enough to tell me a few times that they were running late. OKAY.. now I finally go in and i'm still waiting, nerves are even higher because i'm officially in the chair and I can hear all the drilling and what not in the next room. The only thing keeping me sane was the updated music so I'm sitting there humming. Then it's time to get numbed up - we talked a lot about "Michael Jackson" and tacos that day lol. The procedure only took 40 mins and I felt absolutely nothing, Dr. Yuen was gentle (no tugging,pulling,pressure) and his assistant (I didn't catch her name) was awesome. I was also given a block to bite down on so my jaw wouldn't get sore keeping it open myself. Surprisingly... I had to keep myself from falling asleep. They even said my root canal was so straight forward that I could come back anytime. Hopefully I don't need anymore anytime soon, but if I do I know where to go. Thanks Dr. Yuen & staff! (3/23/17) It's been a day after the procedure and I was told the area might be a little sore or achy, and to be completely honest the anesthesia wore off 2 hours after. I am so impressed with Elite Endodontics, especially Dr. Yuen. The waiting room is exceptionally clean and orderly with free drinks for patients. The receptionist is so friendly and helpful with her explanation of charges and all other questions asked of her. The assistants were so friendly and reassuring. All in the office were cheerful and helpful. Now for Dr. Yuen - He is gentle with injections and kept me informed of all he was doing. He made sure I understood what was going to happen and how it worked out after. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Yuen, even though my first thought was he should be in high school since he looked so young (later I noticed the sprouting of gray hairs). Seriously, I would recommend Dr. Yuen for anyone needing dental services for root canal work. I really felt comfortable with everyone in the office, especially Dr. Yuen. If I were to write anything negative, it would be the location of his office. Parking is nearly impossible at times, the elevator is slow but fairly easy to access and the building looks old and rundown, but Elite Endodontics is exceptionally clean and modern in appearance and equipment. Just had my very first root canal today! Dr. Yuen and Bianca did a TERRIFIC job. I felt no pain during or after. I was WOWED by their office. It is clean, modern and equipped with the latest technology (digital xrays, Mac screens, and a bunch of other seemingly brand new stuff that I can't name-they even have there own CT scanner!). The office will email you the "check in" paperwork ahead of time, or you fill it out on their iPad when you arrive. They play cool music in the office too. During the root canal, they frequently asked how I was doing, and explained what they were doing. Dr. Yuen worked quickly and efficiently. Wish I could see him instead of my regular dentist! My insurance covered most of it, and it only cost me $170! I was expecting it to be way more. The office staff was super friendly, and offered everone water, fruit juice or Keurig coffee. The only down side I can think of, and it's out of their control: the parking sucked. You have to compete with Long's customers, as well as other offices for a space. If you need a root canal and you live on Oahu, go see Dr. Yuen. You won't be disappointed. read more

Everybody hates going to the dentist for any reason but please don't let that stop you from taking care of your health! I arrived to Elite Endodontics without fear up until I sat in the chair. My little anxiety and fear came to a quick end thanks to Dr. Yuen and his team! They are truly the best team I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! I felt 110% comfortable. Great service from beginning to end. I needed to find a specialist for a root canal that my regular dentist could not do. I am so glad that I found Elite Endodontics to do the procedure. Dr. Yuen and EVERYONE that worked in the office was very helpful and friendly. I loved that the office was technologically up to date with Macs and iPads. I filled out all of my 'paper' work online at home, so all I needed to do when I checked in was give some signatures. I also had to bring my family with me, which is always stressful for me because I didn't want them to be too loud, but the office was also equipped with mounted iPads for them to play games on. With dental/teeth apps of course. And the TV was also controlled so that it showed kid friendly shows. I hardly even heard them! My root canal was completely bearable. Dr. Yuen worked efficiently and checked in on me periodically to make sure I was doing alright. I unfortunately have had root canals in the past, and this by far was the most 'pleasant' one that I had to go through. I'm 60, been to 100 dentists, had many root canals and never ever have I had less pain, such a pro Dr (Yuen is just a kid at 32) and had such amazing use of the dreaded drill! A little late on the post but... I'd say excellent dentist! Knowledgeable at what he does and ensures the safety and security of his clients. Once I found out that I needed a root canal, I was highly recommended to go to Dr. Yuen at Elite Endodontics. I was scared at first since I've never had a root canal before but he assured me that everything was going to be fine. Personally, I do not like needles, but in order to not feel anything during the procedure, I needed one. That was probably the only pain I felt during the procedure, which was less than an hour. :) As you step inside the office, you'll notice that everything is white and clean! They even offer free coffee, juice and water for anyone who is waiting. Plus, you get to enjoy the free WiFi. :) I'd say the only prob is that the location throws you off a bit. It's located in the same building as longs drugs and times supermarket. The building is pretty run down and looks like it's going to collapse. They probably just need to do a little renovation. On the other hand, parking is free, so I'm not complaining. Haha. All in all, Elite Endodontics has a professional and productive team that really looks after their patients. I would highly recommended coming for and procedures, but make sure you have dental insurance because it is a bit pricy. read more

I get anxiety the moment I step into the dentist office, but the cleanliness and decor of this office makes me feel more relaxed. Dr. Yuen and his staff are very friendly. Dr. Yuen and his staff live up to their name and exceeded my expectations. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by friendly and upbeat staff. Dr Yuen and his team are awesome in what they do and here's why. My root canal was the best experience I've had. Dr Yuen took his time and making sure the numbing process was little to no pain. Going to the dentist to get a root canal is not how most people want to spend their Tuesday afternoon off from work but if you happen to find yourself in this predicament, please find yourself going to Elite Endodontics. You won't be disappointed that you had to waste your day off having to take care of something that could have been prevented! Dr. Yuen may be young, handsome and a bit of a talker but don't let that intimidate or irritate you. His hands are gentle and you feel no pain even with that big silver syringe he uses to numb you before the procedure. His hands aren't heavy either and you barely feel any of the pressure from the drilling and poking. His personality and attitude definitely matches his level of work as he is patient, thorough, and confident but not arrogant. Dr. Yuen's staff is just as amazing as he is. The receptionist called me before my appointment and gave me a precise estimate of what I would be paying out of pocket and she even gave me the exact time frame I would be spending at their office for my root canal. She quoted me an hour and a half and that is exactly how long I was there for, no more no less! The two dental assistants worked well with Dr. Yuen and they made for a well-oiled machine that helped the procedure go as smoothly as possible. When it was over, I actually was a little sad because it was the best dentist appointment I've been to. I jokingly told the dental assistant that I might just continue to have bad teeth on purpose just so I could come back and see them. Ha ha. I purposely waited to write my review for Dr. Yuen at Elite Endodontics. I was experiencing a dull pain near my front tooth for over six months and put off getting it checked out due to fear and finances. Looking back, I am more than pleased with Dr. Yuen, his office, assistants and every employee. Dr. Yuen's knowledge, surgical skill and friendly personality contributed to a pleasant experience for the apicoectomy needed to relieve the condition with my tooth infection. Dr. Yuen is THE MAN!!!! I was so worried about having to get ANOTHER root canal. The last one I had with my former dentist was an absolutly horrifying 3 hour ordeal. I was expecting this experience to be the same. Wow...I was so WROOONG! Dr. Yuen and his staff were so AMAZING, I actually stated dozing off while he was doing the procedure! The "Zero-gravity chair" certainly helped, it was sooo comfortable! It sounds weird to say that my root canal was an awesome experience, BUT IT WAS!
