I've visited many barbers over the years, and I've walked away from just as many because they lacked what I call a barber philosophy. A true barber doesn't just cut hair, he/she honors time, discipline, and respect. Unfortunately, Elite Kutz has fallen short of that standard. Here's the issue: I had an appointment scheduled for 11:00 a.m. I arrived early, ready and respectful of the time. Yet I didn't get in the chair until well after 12:00 p.m. and even once I was finally seated, the barber repeatedly fielded multiple phone calls while servicing me. That dragged the process out so long that I didn't leave the shop until after 1:00 p.m. -- more than two hours of my time taken advantage of. An appointment is a covenant. If it's set for 11:00, the chair should be ready at 11:00. Otherwise, what's the point of scheduling? When a barber is late, the penalty should fall on the barber, not the customer. Making the customer wait an hour past their appointment and then prolonging the service with distractions defeats the entire purpose of booking. And charging full price for half‑respect? That's exploitation. A professional should absorb the loss, not pass it on. Time is currency. When a barber disrespects your time, they're stealing from you. A professional philosophy means valuing the customer's presence as much as their payment. Sadly, Elite Kutz normalized lateness and distraction, and it erodes trust. I'm not generalizing all shops, but I've noticed this theme more prevalent in certain establishments. It's not about race, it's about respect and time value. If you want to be elite, act elite. Honor the appointment, honor the customer, and honor the craft. Don't forget that word of mouth can make or break an establishment. Professionalism is expected. Without it, you don't get paid, period. read more

I don't recommend this Barber Shop, due to an early morning walk-in, and one of the barber's that opened up that morning. He had my hair cut and shave totally jacked up! Then had the nerve to ask me, what I think.. Lol... The cut and the shave wasn't at all what I wanted!!! read more

Unfortunately this place isn't what it once was. The establishment itself is tastefully appointed and has a nice feel. But the cut...that's where this shop falls short. I chose one of the well-established, veteran barbers of the shop and received the following: 1) Not the cut I asked for. 2) Uneven fade. 3) Uneven edge-up. 4) Scars. Yes, "do you want to know how I got these"-style scars. You know, the scars you get when you're in a hurry and you get the guy with the available chair in the back that has the steady hands of a crackhead. Those scars. Except these were in the middle of my face. Apparently I had a few hairs midway through my face and this enterprising barber's solution was to cut into my face in two uneven lines stretching about 3 inches on either side of my face. They showed up in full effect the following morning, and stayed extremely visible for the next 8 days. Not only was this a bad experience, it destroyed the sanctity of one of the only consistent and comforting rituals a black man has in this world: getting freshly faded with a clean cut. Looks like I'll have to stay to the south to get a quality fade next time...once my soul has recovered enough to place the fate of my face in the hands of an ostensibly highly rated barber. read more

5 Stars for the barber / 3 stars for the barber shop! I'm new in town and need a haircut so I went on yelp to find maybe one or two shops that says open on Sunday. My first pick closest to my hotel was actually closed so I searched the next closest spot and found ELITE BARBER SHOP. I called them and dude said "yeah man he'll take care of me" so I roll in! Very polite and informative. I asked to use the restroom when I got there and thought damn very clean spot and nice bathroom only to find out the sink didn't work only after lathering soap on my hands. Not cool! So I said screw it and cleaned the soap off with a towel and went back to my seat! URI the barber took care of me and was REALLY GOOD!! I saw his previous cut so I was at ease about the quality of his skills! We had great conversation and the cut was very very well done! Thanks to URI for saving the day! read more

As a person who was born and raised in nyc... this place in comparison is trash.. the barber fucked up my hairline. I can take pictures as proof.. and i still had to come home and give myself a shave.. no one in texas uses a straight razor. No added lotion or at least water to soften your hair to make it easier to cut.. the bottom of my goatee was fucked up just terrible... and i waited nearly 2hours for this cut. Waste of time... The atmosphere is nice and the shop looks good.. but none of that matters if ya barbers are suspect. read more

I had came in for a walk in and Chubb had told me to come and get my haircut. I asked him for a taper fade and he gave me a skin high fade. A completely different haircut then what I asked for. On top of that he gave me a slanted lineup, uneven lineup, and the beac vertical bars were very uneven. I do not recommend Chubb. read more

This was my first time coming here and I will never go again. I went for lunch and noticed I was next I waiting for 20 min and some guy that didn't have an appointment walks in with 2 kids. The barber new him but the barber that normally cuts his hair wasn't there so he just decided to skip me because he new the guy. That's pretty messed up I know appointments come first but he said he didn't have one and still took him before me. I hope you take my advice and do t waste your time here....SMH!!!! read more

We've been going to Elite Kutz for over 10 years. Our son got his first haircut there when he was 13 months old. All of the barbers do an excellent job and have the ability to do many different cuts and styles. They have recently moved a few doors down from the old location. The new location is sharp! It's much larger, has more tv's, more barbers, a nice check-in and seating area while you wait, and a sleek warehouse type of look and feel. I highly recommend Elite Kutz. It's top notch! read more

I'll start off by saying I have cut here many times. Most of the time with Hollywood. He's a great barber and always made me feel welcomed. However, there is a new guy named Cam or "kutzbykutta" who is an absolute fool. He came up with all these bogus extra charges, my son's line up was crooked, and his attitude was piss poor. What a sad experience to an awesome shop. If the owner allows this kind of service I won't be going back. What a horrible end to what was a good Saturday afternoon. I visited this barbershop this past Saturday. It was a really nice atmosphere. The barbers seemed experienced and they did great work on everyone i saw leaving with a fresh cut. I noticed how patient one of the barbers was while cutting a little boy that looked to be about 3 years old and was not trying to get his haircut at all. He definitely had more patience then me, took his time and got the job done. The barbers seemed to be friendly and knew a lot of customers by name. I could definitely tell who we're regulars because they walked around and spoke or shook each one of the barbers hands. I loved the family atmosphere. The shop was clean with a modern look and has a separate waiting area for us that were waiting. The electronic sign in was a plus because it held my spot in line. I will definitely be returning when it's time for my sons next cut. read more

I hate to skew the ratings due to one barber, but that's how it goes. I'll leave him nameless. I wanted to like this place, but my experience was odd and underwhelming. First, the PROS: They were fast and had about five barbers on the floor. I walked in and the only guy who wasn't busy cut my hair (in hindsight, maybe there's a reason he wasn't busy). He started off being really helpful; he asked about hair length, and seemed pretty detail-oriented. Then things went downhill... Someone brought him his lunch, and he got really irritable after that (no joke). He handed me the mirror, and my forehead line was EXTREMELY crooked. I pointed this out to him, and also asked if he could round the corners a bit. "ROUND THE CORNERS?! YOU WANT ME TO ROUND THE CORNERS?!", he asked grumpily, like I was a weirdo. I repeated the request while keeping my cool. He acknowledged that he f*cked up the forehead, and fixed both requests. Then I asked about taper options, and he retorted "you didn't ask for a taper. You wanna taper?" I didn't ask for the sharp corners, but he did it anyway, so why was the taper a problem now? I looked at the mirror again, and decided to leave it as is to prevent more headache. I paid the dude and left. I'm not much of a talker during haircuts, so I really don't know what I might have done to piss the dude off. Also, his fingers smelled weed (I'm speaking from experience here). That wasn't a problem, until he f*cked up my forehead. I guess he needed a carpenter's level. TWO MONTHS LATER: My hair is growing unevenly. I already need a redo. This time, I'll go elsewhere and get it done properly by someone who isn't suffering a case of the munchies. read more

Ill start by saying I have been getting my haircut once a week. I went in looking to get a weekly haircut, I was having a bad day and thought I would go for a haircut on my lunch break, and decided to go somewhere new. I looked up reviews for all local barber shops and the barbers there. This seemed like the winner. After reading reviews and i'm going to assume personally written reviews I choose RED. I get in the chair, he asks me what I want. "3 on top with a low SKIN fade" I never get to look in the mirror and he starts cutting, maybe so that I cant see what hes doing?? idk. he finishes up. and it didn't feel like I even received a haircut. I look in the mirror, its not a skin fade..it was a zero without a guard... I asked him if he can go any lower if he has a machine... Slowly he pulls one out I than have to ask him to re-fade the line out.... He didn't use a straight razor on my edge up which was not crispy, by that time I didn't want to ask for anything else, Except I still had a patchy beard growing in. So I have to tell him to get under my chin and to take off my sideburns... WHY?? WHY DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU?? Well hes officially finished and he told me that it was $23.00 maybe im just used to a barber shop that goes above and beyond... But at my usual barbershop for $15 plus tip usually $20 I get the BEST Fade of any style down to the skin , face trim and line up, with a razor edge up, I would however like to thank Elite Kutz for helping in the decision of never going to another barber shop just to save time. read more

My husband is a regular customer of Elite Kutz's for over 15 years. He has been very pleased with the consistent haircuts received from his barber. The shop has recently moved a few doors down and it looks fantastic. More barbers to choose from, adequate space for the customers with more TVs. They now offer a check in system, so that he can leave and come back when it's his time. I would highly recommend going to Elite Kutz for a fresh, good looking haircut. read more

I have lived in the Plano area for almost ten years. I have been to Elitekutz and did not want to continue business there. my normal barber is on vacation for a couple weeks. After forty five minutes of sitting and waiting. While Hollywood (one of the barbers) sits there on his phone for twenty minutes and I'm the only customer left in a store that only had three customers there to begin with. I decided after fifty minutes had gone by I walked out. Not only am I writing this review. I'm contacting red the owner. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP FOR A CUT; OR, AT LEAST, DO NOT LET ROY CUT YOUR HAIR!!!! I went to this shop for a haircut, and my hair looked terrible when "Roy" was done. Living in different areas of the Dallas metroplex throughout my life, I've been to many different barbershops and I've had some great haircuts. I consider myself to be a "haircut connoisseur." That's why I know that this was one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. The edge-up was crooked, the taper fade was barely faded at all, and the length was wrong. I couldn't see what "Roy" was doing in the big mirror while he was cutting because the mirror was tilted back and pointing at an angle towards the ceiling-- MAYBE on purpose. And, honestly, the whole haircut just didn't even feel "normal" during the process. One of the other barbers in the shop may be better, but I am not going to take the chance again. TERRIBLE!
