I had a severe gallbladder attack and was rushed to the ED at Mission Hospital in Laguna Beach. I appreciate how Dr. Coccia explained the options I had. It was good i stayed to get the surgery done while I was there because it ended up being pretty serious for me to have it removed I was so impressed by each of my nurses, doctors and especially my surgeon Dr. Coccia. He was informative, proactive and had great bedside manner. He made me comfortable and turned an unexpected stay in the ED as enjoyable as one can make it. It looks like I will have very minimal scarring which is an added bonus. My post-op appointment was a great experience. His staff is efficient and so is Dr. Coccia. The appointment consisted of her palpating my abdominal region and then somehow diagnosing without any imaging. Because this was my second time consulting with a surgeon and I was somewhat in a hurry to fix my problem, I went ahead and scheduled the surgery. However, after roughly a week I contacted the office and requested to speak with her about doing a CAT SCAN so that I would know exactly what we were dealing with as well to check for any underlying issues. This is when her entire demeanor changed. She refused to send an order for the scan, even though my insurance covers it and said that she would know exactly what she was dealing with during surgery! She didn't consult with my prior hernia surgeon nor did she order labs. I have been sent a bill twice for $364.00 (palpation consultation) due to an error with their billing department as my insurance covers the entire service. I would not recommend this business.
