After 3 trips to Elite I now understand the "bait and switch" nature of this operation and am repulsed by the arrogant Soviet-style attitude thrown in for good measure. The largely unregulated pet grooming industry is a perfect hiding place for such scams. I have pulled back my earlier 4 star review and would give Elite a zero if I could. We will never return. It seems to us that the owner trades on her reputation in the show dog world and gives you a quality "first cut" but then pushes less skilled help on customers in her absence. Meanwhile, her minions do a terrible job afterwards, make up all sorts of silly excuses for their failures (usually blame the customers) but continue to charge owner prices. Olga (is she really the owner -- still unsure) has a reputation in the Bichon world as a groomer, owner of show dogs and most recently as a judge. Her reputation precedes her and she prominently displays various awards and show dog photographs on the walls of her tiny house operation in Madison. This display leaves the impression of a first rate business where you can rightly trust that the results will always be to show dog standards. NOT SO! On our first trip, Olga met with me in person but later disclosed that she merely "supervised" her expatriate crew -- and did not do the cut herself. I was reasonably happy with the result so did not complain -- but left feeling a bit annoyed by her unexpected priciness (higher than quoted) and her insistence that my dog be groomed monthly or else she will have to clip him short and/or charge much more for the service. I do not take well to this sort of bullying, but still felt the quality of the first cut was worth the hassle and booked my return appointment with her in advance. MISTAKE! I now see that my opinion of the first service was colored somewhat by my favorable impression of Olga's overall professional credentials. When I returned for my next appointment, Olga's minion (Sophia) greeted me and told me Olga was out of town (in Las Vegas) but that she worked for her, was skilled and would handle the cut professionally. NOT! She butchered our dog and over charged for the service. When I complained afterwards, she booked me for a guaranteed appointment with Olga. To add insult to injury, Olga's staff cancelled my follow-up appointment at the last minute while I was en route to the groomer -- merely saying (unapologetically) that Olga will not be in and not to come. It takes a lot of nerve to play such parlor games with folks who spend half a day traveling to and from the groomer and wait the better part of three hours to have the grooming completed. I know that the show dog world can be a sycophantic place, where egos rule the roost and politics plays a huge role in who gets serviced and how that service is delivered. That said, this sort of exploitation of regular folk who merely take pride in their dogs grooming is inexcusable. This experience helps me understand why a licensing act for groomers in NJ (e.g. Bijou's bill) is probably a good idea and I will advocate for that change in the hope that licensing will create better accountability. read more

Very disappointed I trusted Olga with my mini poodle but every time I've taken him here there's been an issue. She cuts my dogs hair so short even though I brush him two-three times a week. I'm very dissatisfied, disappointed and appalled. Her attitude every time I go is completely unnecessary and uncalled for. I feel like I'm being scolded or that she's racist towards me. I found Olga after searching high and low for a groomer who could provide Asian dog grooming styles. I had been searching for some time and settling for less than stellar grooming. I'm used to paying $100 on average for the grooming of my 6lb Maltipoo. I relocated from Los Angeles where there is large grooming community--but it has always been hit and miss. By the time I came to NYC, I had noticed the same. Groomers wanting a lot of money for a small dog, but basically giving them a puppy cut or shaving them bald. Olga is different. Now when I first started going there, I thought some of the groomers were a bit short tempered and not well-versed in customer service. However, this has changed. I think they realized that even though they are artists--they still have to deal with clients and their needs. After getting my dog groomed, I found that was that my dog was expertly groomed based on my specifications, and I am VERY picky. I drive the 45 minutes + to have my dog groomed monthly. I've used Olga's services since the Spring of 2017, and would not go anywhere else. It is important to me that I get my dog exactly how I want in terms of style--and I have had so many inexperienced groomers, that I not only make the long drive, but I don't have a problem with paying the cost--which on average is not expensive to me at all. If you have a dog with a complicated cut that needs to have a precise cut, take them to Ogla. Most groomers can't deal with Poodles, Bichons, Maltese and others without giving them the same tired cut. Most have tried to make my dog look like a terrier...Olga gets it--and she is an expert. read more

3/10 Olga and Alex arrived on time with their mobile dog grooming van. Our dog had been asked not to return at another groomers brick and mortar location in Chatham. Initially, Greyson was apprehensive, however Olga got him to relax and he was groomed successfully. I really appreciate Olga's tips on keeping him brushed and how to bath him. We've been coming here for almost 2 years now. We're huge fans - here's why: 1-Olga runs a tight ship. She takes grooming very seriously and expects her staff to do the same. 2-The service is comprehensive, so my Golden Retriever and German Shepherd get a deshedding, shampoo, trim where necessary, nails, ears cleaned, etc. 3-You can make an appointment weeks or months ahead of time, and they will call to remind of your appointment. Tip: If you're a new customer wondering what time your pet will be done, they will call you. This isn't a zoom groom service where the dog is in and out in an hour. 4-My dogs come with a lot of energy, and we've never had issues bringing them here. Everyone working at Elite knows how to handle a variety of breeds. 5-Quality of products - Olga uses top of the line products on our dogs, and she carries a lot of natural/organic products. 6-She has a great personality! She's tough, particular, detailed oriented and for some people that's too much, but she takes her profession very seriously and cares about all of her pet clients probably more than most owners realize. read more

I love my dog so much , he is my best friend FOREVER. Now I just moved to Madison, SO CLOSE to Elite, that I was looking forward to bringing my 15lb dog here. It is so convenient. But I am so busy that I continued to go to his Westfield groomer, for one more haircut, out of familiarity. Coming up on his next cut, and a friend of mine really pushed me to use her groomer in Union, so I went there. Nice people, and they did a very nice job, but they were so busy that he was delayed and away from me way longer than he should have been. That wasn't acceptable, so I made up my mind that I was being foolish, and I had to try Elite. I called for my first appointment, and the young woman on the phone was very friendly and helpful. I paid my deposit and anxiously waited for the big day. Well when I dropped him off, they called me two hours later to come and get him.... and I am OVERJOYED at the work they did... My parents agreed that this was his BEST HAIRCUT EVER!.. and he wasn't kept away from me for an unnecessary length of time, due to poor scheduling by the business. Now his previous groomers did a nice job, but he was DEFINITELY groomed more correct to his breed here, and HE NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD! I am just so thrilled with my experience here. If I could give 0 stars after my experience YESTERDAY I would. Let me start by saying, I have never left a review for any establishment(good or bad) however, the way me and my two adorable, friendly, loving dogs were treated yesterday could NOT go unnoticed. I have been taking my Yorkies to OLGA since they were puppies. I am a loyal, paying, patient customer. Not to mention, I am a teacher, and have ALWAYS taken days off, just to accommodate their schedule. I am the FURTHEST thing from difficult, and even drive an hour just to make sure my babies get a beautiful cut. Now, let me get to the worst experience I've ever had in my lifetime. I made an appointment for my pups (which I always do) for 11:30. It usually takes roughly around 2-2.5 hours for both of them. Around 2:30, I gave Elite Pet Spa a call, and asked when my babies would be done. I was told 4:00-4:30. I'm sorry, but 5 hours to groom my (3 lb) dogs?!!?!!?!? I immediately was concerned, especially because like I said, I have been taking them here since they were babies and it has NEVER taken this long. When I called, just simply stating that I could not wait until 4:30 because I have to get back to my job, Olgas response was "lady I am getting older, not younger." I showed up at Elite Pet Spa, and the attitude/ unprofessionalism that was expressed was out of line. Olga started aggressively brushing my dog, causing him to yelp (I took a video that I will provide later). I told her to stop and to just give me my dogs. She then charged me $90 for my dogs (THAT DIDN'T EVEN GET A HAIRCUT). They simply got baths, nails clipped, and "de-matted", which is BS because I brush them daily, but like I said, I paid because I am NOT difficult. She didn't even have the professionalism to walk my puppies out to me. When a parent has a concern at school, do I tell them "sorry I am getting older not younger?" Do I yell at them? Cuss at them? Be-little them because of my name? Absolutely not. Upon picking my dogs up, they were trembling, scared, panting, and crying. It's no wonder this establishment keeps their door shut so that you cannot see their grooming habits. When I got home, I took my dogs right upstairs, and laid with them to calm them down. Upon petting one of them, I found a cut on her leg ( that I took a picture of). I feel so horrible for ever taking my dogs to this UNLOVING, UNNURTURING, BUISNESS who clearly does not care about the love and well-being of their customers/ puppies. I left an honest review about this business which Yelp took down apparently because the store is clearly pursuing them. I've had a very negative experience with the owner after having been a customer several times. The owner has been rude and totally inappropriate, at some point increasing the price of the cut from flat rate that I was used to, to an hourly rate effectively doubling the price. I've never seen a business change it's policy just because they felt like it, just because I didn't apparently bring my dog there frequently enough for regular grooming. And all this is accomplished with a serious dose of audacity. Before wiring my original review I saw plenty of negative reviews that are now gone. I don't see why Yelp would continue to be useful to users if honest but negative reviews are summarily taken down. You will not like your experience here over time. do not go here!!!! i had got my puppy groomed on monday ( which shed been groomed before and never acted this way) and as soon as we got in the car she fell asleep.. the whole day after she was sleepy and not herself. i had taken her to the vet to get checked out and sure enough she was sedated. this is illegal. there was no knowlege of olga doing this and when i had called she said we dont do that here meanwhile my dog is not herself and lethargic. read more

Olga and her team are truly award winning, but not just for their professionalism and skill, also because they are kind and caring to our two English Cocker Spaniels. They both love Olga and happily head in to be groomed. We started using Olga because she is the only groomer in the area who hand strips dogs but we continue to use her because she is just so good at what she does. Her shop is clean and conveniently located on Main Street just outside of downtown Madison. There is a parking lot so drop off and pick up is a snap. I have used this groomer many times, these women are rude, rude, rude...they over charge and charge me more and more every visit and you just want to get out of there so you go with it, the minute you have a question they become enraged, I have never seen anything like this. They recently started charging for credit card payments and when they call to tell you that your dog is ready you need to come right away, when you arrive they do not take your dog immediately but you are not allowed to be a late and you never know how long it will take so you need to drop everything and go and pick your dog up or you will be harassed! When you call as a courtesy to tell them you are running late, they scream and shout (not exaggerating) and tell you that you caused them to miss a class (when there are other employees still there) or you caused them to miss going to the hospital or something to make you feel horrible and other dogs are still there being groomed it's really frightening to me how they can so easily lie....when you speed to get there... or when I cancelled one time in the morning of the appointment they yelled at me also, when my dog was sick and throwing up - they still yell at you like you have done something terrible to them! Why would you want my sick dog there? When I researched other groomers at the point when I could not handle their inflexibility, others (Veterinarians) tell me that detangling is traumatic to the dogs, and now I wonder if they are sedating the dogs like another client stated, because my dog is very tired when I pick her up and sleeps often afterward. I also brought her back recently a few days later because they did not trim her face enough and they recharged $75! They convinced me to come every three weeks alternating grooming and bath whereby the bath is only $10 less! Good-bye Elite, so relieved I found another groomer who will not rip me off or change prices on me without warning, nor chastise me for being late to pick up or cancelling because my dog is sick, nor easily lie and bully their clients! read more

I usually do not write reviews, but the severity of unprofessionalism and verbal abuse that the owner Olga demonstrated today was too much to keep to myself. Had my dog groomed there today and literally got yelled at because she said that we "waited too long" to get his hair cut. She left scattered uneven pieces of hair at the bottom of his body there and refused to fix it, justifying it by saying how that this what we get for not getting our dog groomed earlier. Our dog is a beautiful bischon frise who we adore and consider a member of our family. We brush him out every day and bathe him at least once a month. Even if we didn't do that, that is no way to treat a customer. She was so loud and verbally abusive that we had to pay and leave because our dog was so terrified. I just don't believe anyone has the right to treat a person or a dog the way she did. Go at your own risk. We will never return again. read more

I appreciate the response. My first name is Claudia and my dog's name is Olive. If you had reported "any" issues I would feel very differently. Olive had been groomed multiple times and she stands very still. I brush her teeth every night! In either case, an animal could be distracted and accidents can happen - not only dis you not say anything to me when I picked her up, except "she is such a great girl, best behaved dog" but when I saw the injuries and you never apologized. You should have asked to see her immediately- to try to understand what happened. But you didn't. I called you politely to try to understand what happened and you said nothing happened and you never apologized. Yes, you have a good reputation as a groomer, but you also have a reputation for sometimes allowing inexperienced groomers do the work and you clearly have no sense of customer service. Madison businesses matter to me - I try to do everything locally and support this wonderful city.
