Stopped by here for the first time as my partner had a guest pass. I've never been to Planet Fitness before and wasn't sure what to expect, but once I got inside and walked down the stairs, I was amazed at all the equipment they had and how much space it took up. Plenty of television for people to enjoy while doing cardio, and lots of machines focused on other body parts are spread across the gym. I thought the place was extremely clean, the locker room had great amenities, and people were nice. I may need to rethink my 24hour membership after stepping into this place! read more

I've been to this location a few times, equipment is usually working well, sometimes a bit crowded for arm machines. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I try to just do my thing and not waste time while waiting around, there's time one modifies routine, couple of times I just decided to leave.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] More unwelcoming is all the random things that people leave in lockers. Quality/Quantity - Waited until I was able to visit a few times before writing a review. I must be spoiled with the Reno, NV location?!?! The team (and customers) are way more friendly than here. This location is also more "dated" than the new locations in Reno. Atmosphere - Decent size basement/down stairs location, see pictures. They have an elevator. But we felt because of the low ceilings and crazy busy location, the air was NOT fresh in the basement. First my daughter and I made the mistake of driving through 45 minutes of rush hour traffic to come here. So busy that people had to wait to use machines. My future visits were early morning! Much better. Free wifi. Plenty of mall parking; as with most gyms, make sure you have nothing valuable visible in your car, to avoid car break-ins. Summer promotions, see picture. Club Hours: Mon: 5:00 AM - 12:00 AM. Tue: 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM. Wed: 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM. Thu: 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM. Fri: 12:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Sat & Sun: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM. Service - Just okay. I guess you have to "check-in" again to use the black card facilities. My first experience, the first two times I came with my daughter, I did not have to re-check in. But unfortunately the scanner/computer did not work. I had to scan my QR code on every machine?!?! My ugly face was on all their monitors, lol. After 5-10 minutes of trying to update my membership, they eventually just over-rode the machine. They said the issue was NOT because my membership is from NV. It just keeps busier more people less machines; why some of the Worst gym etiquette I have ever seen. I keep to myself I wipe down my machines. I am not texting and holding up machines. I do sometime want to super set and use two machine. Not going to happen here; they just have two many members and not enough weights. They also have a ton of people who will be on the smith machine for 30 + minutes, it's not really an issue but have some etiquette that other people are waiting. It's a free for all on machines and weights and about half the people wipe down and returns stuff. I am always returning stuff to where it goes, no one cares. It's really not the people who work here ie Staff they are fine and doing there best for the pay. Guess I'll be that Karren; Nothing to do but bitch about it on yelp. Do you. Even at the price point this place is a dump due how busy it is' there so called app shows people at 2 stars all the cable machines are taken . everything you need to work out and de-stress, lose weight, get physically stronger is available to you thru plant fitness in hayward. there is a nice planet fitness in tracy as well. forget hiring a trainer. read the directions on the equipment and just work out. purchase a book that I read called "eating for your blood type" and follow the food plan. I ate for my blood type and had more energy every day. make your life simple by staying away from all junk food restaurants for 6 months. then go back and eat junk food for 2 weeks and test out how you feel and guess what? read more

I usually go to 24 Hour Fitness when I'm in town but they ask for $30 for a day pass, which is ridiculous. I went to Planet Fitness in Hayward. This is by far the cleanest and best maintained gym I have ever seen. CORRECTION: 8 CARS!!!! Come on now... Another 3 cars got broken into this morning at 4:45AM on 08/27/24. Ours was broken into 6-7 months ago. If you're gonna put some deterrents, how about parking the security guard at the front road where it can be seen? These children are left unsupervised and are unaware of gym etiquette. PF why not limit these children to attend the gym from 10 to 3? Come on Planet Fitness get your act together, at the very least you should have staff following these children around to assist them. Personally, I have saved a few from harming themselves when they overload or inappropriately use equipment. I'm sorry but no 15/16 year-old should be attempting to leg press 405 pounds with their knees in a fully extended/locked position. I came at 4:45 PM on January 27th. 2 girls behind the counter. Both of them argued about who was going to give me a tour. since it was such a hassle. I decided I didn't want a tour. And I would just need to stand there and look at what they had. they stated. I could not do that without submitting my Driver's license.. I asked who their manager was and they both told me jenna, who only works on mondays. Very poor customer service. You should never argue about who's gonna service a customer in front of them. read more

I came on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. Machines are all relatively new and well-maintained compared to 24 and City Sports. The hydro-massage in the black card area is nice, but it's annoying to have to go to the front to get it turned on. read more

This review might be a little biased just because I am not a member of this gym. However, my cousin guest passes me in to this location when she comes to visit and we want to workout together. I appreciate that many people here are very considerate of cleaning up after themselves in terms of returning the weights and wiping down the equipment. That is hard to come by these days in many other gyms. I think this is a newer location because most of the machines look pretty new and up to date! Some pros about PF is their variety in machines - I like their core machines and leg machine variety. I also like the 30 minute workout section and the dedicated area with the bosu balls and kettlebells. Everything pretty much has a structure and specific place. However, I dont like the fact how they only have smith machines and no free weights. The studio room also does not have enough yoga mats. By the time my cousin and I show up (which is usually around 5-6pm) there is one to none. I guess this is a picky thing too but you would think with a busy gym they'd have more. Also, the gym gets pretty busy around 5-6pm. Almost every machine will be full and you will have to wait!! I like how you can check the gym traffic on the PF app too which is supe convenient. Again, I guess I'm pretty biased because even after a good amount of workouts with my cousin at this gym I still cant see myself going here everyday for my usual workout. read more

The busiest PF in the area. Having going to this location for a year I can say if you don't do full body split and just hop on any machine available, you're not gonna get a work out in at all during weekdays past 3pm. Forget about using the smith machine. However weekends are somewhat less crowded and you can usually get whatever machine you want. Locker room and bathroom are a little messy. Haven't had an unpleasant encounter with other gym goers everyone is minding their own business even during the busiest hour. At the end of the day you can't beat $10 a month. read more

I have to renege my former review and eat crow. I came back to PF. The reason being is that I tried a nearby gym and found that it was not as clean and the staff didn't seem to really care about interacting, only to get a sale. Also for the price was paying you expect simple hygenic supplies to be provided, but weren't. I resigned my membership to my new/old gym and came back. I didn't get the Black Card membership this time, but I'm okay with that. The basic membership provides me what I need without the bells and whistles. It's good to be back. read more

I've been a member for quite some time. Recently, they refreshed their pulley machines and their dumbells. Thanks for the brand new equipment, but I don't think it's the most efficient. We need more pulleys where you can adjust them vertically. Everyone waits for it to open up. And the pulley for triceps are too long to be on the inside (people get in the way). Overall, I'd evaluate the usage of each pulley. the setup was fine the way it was before. The dumbells, maybe have 1 set of the heavier dumbells since it doesn't get used often. Okay so I was really excited to see cycling bikes at this gym because I been going here for 4 years. But come to find out you can only use the damn bikes if you have an Android. I don't know who the hell the owners or manager are of this location but majority of the people that come to the gym to workout have an IPhone NOT and Android. So every time I come to the gym I can't use it. So I have a membership at another gym as well. They really need to fix it. I come to this gym all the time and no one even uses the damn bikes. So disappointed. Now unless you can pair and iPhone I've tried every time I went to this location and even the staff don't know. I was black card member of this gym from last 2 years and using my jumping rope everyday , once they told me not to use in exercise area but you can use in cardio area , so i started using in cardio area , today i checked in and there is lady in reception told me you can't use it and told me to put it in the locker , no greetings when i come in nothing just saw the rope in my hand started pointing it out , and same day i saw two guys using there "personal equipments" and jug of "gallon water" which is in there "no use" club policies , they didn't said anything to them don't go to this gym , if you are "friends" with someone at gym then no rules apply to you if not then good luck cancelled my membership , never coming back!!! read more

Worst gym etiquette I have ever seen. Too crowded. Gym is located in the basement of an abandoned shopping mall. Gym is well equipped, however it is often ridiculously overcrowded. Lots of kids and young adults playing on their phones and or hanging out while occupying gym equipment for extended periods of time. This place is often too crowded to get the most optimal work out but it doesn't mean you can't get a decent one in, just probably not the one you were planning to do. Staff generally hang out at the front with the exception of a few that are tasked with wiping down the equipment. They do a good job of keeping the place clean, however. read more

The great thing about this place is that it is 24/7. The times I usually go is off peak hours and its been great. I remember PF is usually pretty clean and they have all the right equipment. The other great thing about this place is that they have the massage beds and chairs. Great after workouts. I wish the early morning staff is a bit better than giving you the "I don't want to be here" look. I know when I leave, the second person comes in for their shift and they just chat it up. When I need help they aren't really there. Majority of the time, I am OK with the service with PF because you just scan and go. If you want anything more than that, you might get that. Before I signed up, I asked if I can look around. They just gave me a "check-in" sheet and off I go. If you can come in the morning or off peak times to work out, this would be a great place. Been coming here for a while now, and it's not the best gym ever but definitely more worth your money if you just care for simple fitness. Definitely not a bodybuilding gym or powerlifting gym, but just getting a simple workout in everyday. The music, however, needs to change ASAP. I usually have my airpods in but can still hear the gym music through them. It'd be fine if the music wasn't radio pop that was leaking into my airpods. As you would expect, this is a dump. The energy and lack of enthusiasm is a downer. i called and canceled after my first week but they kept billing now for 10 years. I call today expecting modern practices, but to cancel a mailed written letter is required. No email, no option online account. Customer service is great at this location. 1 star because I arrived at 3:34 AM this morning and the gym was closed. No sign on the door stating they're not open and no notice was sent to members stating that this location would be closed due to understaffing or call outs. I understand life happens. That's not the issue. Improper notice is the issue for me because my time is precious. I was literally the only person in the parking lot. 5 minutes later two other members arrive. I sat in the parking lot until 3:47 AM. Not a PH staff member insight. This is incredibly unprofessional and tacky. Accountability is needed. If there is an issue with call outs and/or understaffing inform your members, so we won't waste precious time by going to a closed gym. Send a text or email. --------------------UPDATE ------------------ Upgrade to 3 stars. Again, this location really does have good customer service. My interaction with their staff has been exceptional. Not the issue :) I was contacted by Cecelia via direct message and she stated that the gym had closed early on Labor Day and resumed operations at 5 AM today. I had alleged that PH was closed due to understaffing and/or call outs. Cecelia stated that there was signage throughout the gym (for the past 2 wks) and the PH website stating holiday hours, reopening at 5 AM the day after. I was inside the gym as recent as Labor Day morning and did not see any signage. Not even in the ladies room. I triple checked the hours for Tuesday using the posted hours outside the gym, by calling the gym, viewing the app, and googling this location and nothing specified a change to operational hours the day after a holiday. I think this gym is reliable in terms of - You can definitely get an efficient and a productive work out done here. It's pretty big compared to the Planet Fitness located in Fairfield, CA. And its also right next to the theater and some other nice places to eat afterwards. I usually stop by the Poke bowl place across the street from Dick's. Their equipment is reliable. I'm a little disappointed that they don't have an actual bench press, but I see some people use the assisted squat rack which isn't the same when you're trying to bench, TBH. I also like their stretching room with the mirrors. It's pretty spacious and the AC in there is always blasting so it's a great place to cooldown after a work out! A couple of things, my last few visits there -- the fountain has been broken for a few months and I'm not sure why it's taking them so long to fix it. They've been giving away free water bottles to make up for it because its been broken for so long. Also, I would recommend the staff clean the treadmills maybe when no one is running on treadmills. The smell of the chemicals of what they use to clean is a bit overwhelming for those who are overly sensitive to strong cleaning products. Like me! Especially when I'm running! Besides that, its a cheap place to work out. They have tons of working equipment, and it's fairly clean. read more
