Now that they've completed the job at my house, allow me to provide yet another glowing review. Chris and I connected not long after my request for a quote and he came by my house in the next day or so. After spending a little time in the attic, he came down to give a thorough breakdown of what was in the attic and a couple of different paths I could take (e.g. removing all the existing insulation before blowing in the new product; leaving the existing insulation and simply blowing the new stuff over the top of it). He answered every question I asked and had a formal estimate (which included detailed photos of what he saw up in the attic) to me the next day. Chris promised that the team coming to do the install would be top-of-the-line -- and he was right. Dave led the crew, who were very respectful of my house and used floor coverings and booties throughout the installation. They removed all the old insulation and got the new stuff in place in about 3 hours. Dave had me inspect the work before departing and was also happy to answer a couple of follow-up questions I had. The project was delivered on time and exactly as we had discussed with them. Where we were most impressed though was in the level of customer service they provided. After removing the insulation in our basement, we found a few surprises that were covered up by the old insulation. Founders was extremely accommodating as we worked with other contractors to get those issues (unexpected and unrelated to insulation) squared away. I realize having the other contractors come in was probably pretty disruptive to their workflow, and Brian and his team said he understood our situation and did everything he could to help us out. I will certainly reach out to them again with our next insulation project.

The crew did not come with the right equipment, which was "on the way" and eventually were told by their boss to go to Home Depot to buy the spray foam.Then, they failed to fill the bays between the studs more than 1/8-1/4 of an inch (the contract called for 3"). They used "fire foam" meant to fill cracks in half of the bays, and failed to insulate the ceiling, which was part of the contract. These are just a few of a dozen items in the contract that were done poorly or not done at all. I strongly recommend you NOT use this company.

I am glad that I selected the super attic and clean crawl space, it was well worth the additional cost over standard insulation. Maryland is currently experiencing a cold snap and with wind chill the temperate drops below zero. One day before the cold snap, my HVAC broke and is beyond repair. I have an older 1300 square foot home with new window and no insulation in the walls. However, due to the seal created by the super attic and clean crawl space, I am sitting in a house that is 71 degrees with only the assistance of a propane fire place and one Dyson portable heater. At night, I set my fire place to 68 degrees and turn off the portable heater. When I wake up the lowest temperature in any room is 66 degrees. I am so glad that I choose the super attic and crawl space because during this busy time of year, I do not have to worry about the cost for installing a new HVAC under emergency conditions. That peace of mind is priceless. I interviewed three contractors before selecting Dr. Energy Saver of Central Maryland to insulate my home. I was impressed with Dan Hope because he started at the ground floor performing the actual insulation himself prior to hiring a staff. They installed SunPower panels which a couple of my friends in the solar industry thought was a little high end for such a simple job. One was quoted as saying these were the Mercedes Benz of panels and shouldn't need something this expensive for a simple roof installation. I didn't think much of it at the time. Fast forward to current day. I went through a major renovation and added a new roof (and new direction). I contacted Edge in March to talk to them about getting a reinstallation. It took multiple weeks to get pricing for a simple 19 panel reinstall and I got into contract with Edge in mid April. It is now the last day of July (3 1/2 months later) and I was just notified that they still haven't submitted the plans to get a permit. In DC, I'm guessing that it will be multiple weeks/months more to get approval of the permits once they are submitted. Every time I email, I don't receive a response for at least a week. I've called multiple times now asking for someone in management to give me a call to discuss. Crickets. I wish I had the option to go with another company but given the Sunpower panels, no other company in DC will do the install due to the specialization needed to install Sunpower electrical wiring.
