I would not recommend this company if you are using a HAF grant for repairs. I originally started the process of contacting them for a furnace and plumbing repair in March. I had every thing submitted to them by April 20th. The original inspection went okay with Chris. He was well aware of the plumbing and furnace issues. He said he would relay his findings to Mr. Dunphy whom took over the process. Upon his inspection he discovered a problem with the roof also.I have been insistent from the start about my furnace and plumbing taking priority.. It is now June. He not submitted the grant proposal. Today Mr. Dunphy informed me my furnace could not be addressed until the fall and he was taking it upon himself to apply for the roof with out discussing it with me. He denied knowing about the plumbing. He was very rude. He was only contacting me today because I was following up from April. The HAF program allows individuals to obtain bids from private contractors for grant purposes for repairs the homeowner is seeking. I was looking for a bid for furnace and plumbing repairs not a roof. Regardless the grant estimate should have been presented to me for approval and submitted in April. I should have been informed of the specific repairs and the cost associated with the proposal. read more

Used them to do a tuneup/check for my hvac. A day after it was done, my unit was leaking water and lots of it. At first, I thought my drain pipe was clogged, and after checking it was not. I couldn't figure why the leak especially after the tuneup was done a few days before. I called Complete Home to send me a technician to figure out why the leak. The technician took plenty of photos and conclude with the drain pan was damaged. I explained to him that a tune up was recently done but the pan would not have anything to do with it. Apparently, the first technician damaged my the drain pan. A call was made to the office and not sure what was discussed, but the second technician made a temporary fix to stop the leak. I was told that the supervisor will be calling me to go through options. I waited a week, no call so I called to speak to someone, was told someone would call me back. Another week went by, no call, called again, same answer. At this point, going on three weeks, have not received a call back. I don't believe they want to help me with an issue they caused. I am also going to call BGE and complain as it was from their supplier website I got their number. Not sure who else I can call to get my issue resolved. Happy to talk to anyone who can help with this. They have all the photos of before and after. Will not recommend them at all for to anyone. read more

We are very pleased and impressed with Complete Home Solutions. Jack did an energy audit and determined we could benefit from additional insulation. It was a 2-day project. We had R-19 in the attic, and they added enough insulation to reach R-60. They insulated and sealed all the lights that were in the ceiling, and sealed all the gaps and joists. Baffles were placed in the eaves to insure ventilation and that the insulation would not get blown around. They installed insulation between the garage and the upstairs floor. New ultra-quiet humidity/timer bathroom fans were installed in the bathrooms. Brad and all his crew were excellent. They explained to us what they were doing and they wasted no time and worked hard all day in high heat and humidity to accomplish the project. They were a real pleasure to work with. When Jack came back to check on the job and for the final test it showed that the air leakage in our home was reduced by 1500 cfm. All their hard work paid off! They came out and insulated underneath my house, they did a good job so I thought, 2 years later , all they insulation is hanging down? I called them and they said they would come out and repair it. Then I called them 6 additional times and I get the run around and they never call me back. Oh well, I guess I have to get under my house and fix it my self. read more

We've been having some issues with the air coming out of our A/C, needing possible duct sealing or new filtration system. The salesman that came out was friendly and professional, spent about 45 minutes asking questions about the issues, inspecting the system, and taking pictures. When he left, he said he'd have to get with his technicians and would come up with a couple of different solutions by the following week. Two weeks later, I don't hear anything and call the office. They said they would send a message to him to get back to me with a proposal. A week later, nothing again, I call the office back again, same deal. Another week, nothing. I call the office once more, stating I'd be happy if they just told me they didn't have any solutions for me or couldn't do the work themselves, I just wanted a response! They said they would escalate to a manager and get it straightened out. 3 days later, here I am, writing a negative review because of their lack of basic customer service and support. Complete Home Solutions is great; I used them for mold remediation expertise. Linda was such a sweetheart during the scheduling process. She answered my questions about the company's accreditation and what makes them best in class over other firms; she was patient and thorough, while answering, and didn't just make up an explanation; she was thoughtful. Linda was prompt and got me scheduled right away. Merv was my representative for mold remediation. Even from our initial phone call, it was clear that he truly wanted to help others and didn't have the "If you call our company, I'll only answer questions vaguely because I want you to use our services and pay" mindset. Merv was thorough and honest in his responses about mold remediation. It didn't feel like he was rushing me to hurry up and ask my questions; he answered every one with great/helpful detail. He told me what products the industry typically uses and what is best. When he knew that I was worried about my mold situation, he encouraged me to make an appointment so that he could come out to check out the issue. The day that Merv came to check out the issue (free estimate), he was prompt and very polite. He assessed my issue and was honest about the type of remediation I needed. He talked through the remediation process with me and even checked the moisture levels of the wooden studs in my house, so that he could recommend the best course of action. Merv suggested the cheapest route and even things that I could do myself, if needed. I felt like I wasn't being scammed by yet another contractor and that Complete Home Solutions actually cared. Merv also shared information about a home energy audit that Complete Home Solutions can do and I can gain extra rebates from my energy provider (BGE)! Merv provided all this just during the free estimate and didn't expect anything in return; I was so grateful. Overall, Complete Home Solutions was awesome and during a time where I was already dealing with a lot of stress from dishonest, unethical contractors, this was just what I needed to be put at ease. We have an old Victorian home in Georgetown that was cold! Contrary to the negative review, we had an excellent experience from beginning to end with this company! Edward performed a thorough initial inspection lasting almost 3 hours and identified a number of issues that we were unaware of including lack of insulation, gaping holes in our attic, and air leaks. The customer service was terrific following up with us to schedule a time for repairs and assisting us with the DCSEU program so we could receive a rebate for our energy saving improvements! (A whopping savings of $1600!) We performed all of the recommended repairs and do feel that our home is warmer and more comfortable! I had a terrible experience with this company. They were all over the place about how they were going to do the work. Their customer support team was unorganized and they were always unclear what information was given by someone else on the team. I ran in circles trying to get the work done that I finally decided not to go with this company. I can not attest to the quality of the work they do, but I can say their costumer support and organization is awful. I asked to talk to the owner of the company and she took no responsibility for the confusion, but instead blamed me, or one of her staff members, with no suggestions or assurance that she would fix the situation. read more

Complete Home Solutions (CHS) did a great job on our home. In February, my wife and I bought a home in Brentwood, MD. The house dates from 1913, and while a renovation prior to the sale upgraded many of the floors and appliances, many other substantive repairs needed to be done. This included addressing energy leakage from both the crawl space and the attic. We reviewed several companies and had two proposals including CHS. From the very beginning, CHS (through Mr. Merv) provided excellent customer service. Rather than telling us right away what our problem was, Mr. Merv listened intently to our experience of the house and simply asked questions (the temperature in our home rarely reflected what was on the thermostat and it took a very long time for our home to cool or heat to the desired temperature). He then provided us with various texts and links for information on energy efficiency, crawl spaces, air circulation and common fixes (including encapsulation). Mr. Merv was there for several hours inspecting the crawl space and attic and making sure our questions were answered. Once selected, CHS worked with us on a proposal that reflected both our budget and our concerns. When we had questions. Mr. Merv went through the proposals line by line for more than an hour to ensure all our questions were answered and to ensure the proposal met our needs. The actual work took about two days in October and the CHS crew was prompt and careful, laying down plastic and minimizing dirt or damage on furniture and floors. After each day, the crew carefully cleaned up and removed any debris. When the work was done, Mr. Merv came out personally to inspect the work and actually had someone come out to finish out a detail he wasn't satisfied with on the access hatch to our attic. CHS was professional and prompt at every step of the way and our interactions with the office staff including Ms. Linda were professional and prompt. Once the work was done (and CHS managed to reduce our energy leakage by nearly 25%, a big deal for a house as old as ours), CHS processed all the paperwork with PEPCO, our utility company and we received a $2,000 check from PEPCO shortly thereafter per Maryland's assistance for energy efficiency improvements. I cannot recommend CHS enough. After their work, our home actually heats and cools to the desired temperature and does so MUCH faster. The crawl space and attic look neat (there was a lot of junk insulation and construction debris when we first bought the house and CHS cleaned it out). We feel much more comfortable in our home and would recommend CHS for their knowledge, expertise, customer care and efficiency. Thank you CHS! read more

We bought our home in 9/2014 and have struggled with heating it throughout this winter. We chose this company based on the many positive reviews on Angie's List. The assessment was thorough. It was determined that our house was 3x draftier than the industry ideal. The company representative reassured me that if we agreed to all of the improvements he suggested our home would be both comfortable and economic. The only room he expressed any doubt about was our sun room, which was originally a screened in porch. He expressed no other qualms about his company's ability to improve our heating situation. My husband and I agreed to do all of the suggested improvements--all $8,800 worth. The improvements were done 11-13 Feb. There was no problem with the installations up front, except it seemed our project manager was rushed at the end. He did not dedicate much time to proving objectively that the house's heating situation had improved. A blower door test was done and he showed me that our house's draftiness was decreased by approximately 1/3. Is this standard for an "after" result for heating improvements? I don't know. There wasn't any discussion before the project on a mutually agreeable objective outcome/expectation management, and no discussion afterwards regarding what the company considers a successful outcome. After almost a month post-work the house is still very uncomfortable. The thermostat is still set at 63 degrees and the furnace still struggles to keep up. Many of our vents blew weakly, or did not blow hot air at all. This has not improved. Essentially, we see virtually no improvement in our comfort. To add insult to injury, we had our largest oil bill of the winter in February, even though the work was done in the first half of the month. My final issue regards customer service. We had two concerning discrepancies post-installation. First, during the assessment we were told that our windows and doors needed caulking to eliminate draftiness. When my husband asked the project manager afterwards if the caulking had been done, the project manager said we didn't need it after all. When my husband pointed out that the caulking was included in the contract and we were billed for the service, the project manager apologized and stated he would come back out to complete the project. That was 13 February. Almost 3 weeks and $8,800-paid-in-full later, the company has still not sent anyone out to finish our project despite repeated emails and phone calls. Second, we requested during the assessment phase that attempts be made to add insulation into the dormer windows in the front of our home as the cabinets in those walls are very cold. There's a small door in the bathroom providing access to the dormers, and the project manager assured me he would investigate the area during the installation phase and blow in some insulation if possible. When my husband asked the project manager afterwards if he was able to blow insulation into the dormers, the project manager stated that it wasn't possible because the dormers were too small and they couldn't get behind the built in cabinets. We noticed, upon inspection, that the small door in the bathroom providing access to the dormers was still painted shut and he had clearly not inspected the area as he said he did. After playing phone tag with the company since 6 March to secure a specific time for window and door caulking, today the company flat out refused to come back to our home as a result of a review I wrote on Angie's List. Rather than behaving in a professional manner and swiftly responding to our initial concerns, the company became upset when I voiced my concerns on Angie's List. None of the information in my review was new to the company. We had already voiced all of these concerns to them over the phone were assured by management that they would be addressed. The company is in breach of contract, as they never came back out to caulk the windows and doors. read more
