I even bought a thermometer to prove to myself that it was that hot and I wasn't crazy. Well, there was a 10 degree difference and it made sleeping difficult. So, I gave Efficient Home Llc (EH) a call and they came to my home for an energy audit. The audit was $350 and basically included a walk-through of the living spaces, attic, exterior and a 'fan test' to see how much air was seeping into the house. The rep. was really nice and seemed very knowledgeable. He made a few suggestions, but the biggest one was to get insulation added into the attic. Also, I have vaulted ceiling in the upstairs rooms and the rep. pointed out that they create a 'knee wall' in the attic and that special attention would be paid to that. Well, we signed some paper work to have the job done and their installers came out about 5 weeks later. The installation guys were very nice and let me closely investigate their work and made all the corrections I asked for. They installed special material for the knee wall and blasted in cellulose. They also sprayed everything with expanding foam. And I mean everything, a couple of times, they plugged some holes that I would have rather stayed open for easy access later if i need to service the wires that ran through them. Oh well. Success! My upstairs now is less than two degrees warmer than the rest of the house and even though it wasn't really my primary concern, my already modest electric bills have been about 25% less than last summer, but last summer was also hotter. Oh, and they even helped me to fill out my government rebate / utility paperwork. So, all in all, the people who came to my house I felt were very competent and paid close attention to detail and got me the results I wanted at a fair price. So, the -1 star is for the office people. They never called me about anything, I always had to call them. I had the work done some months ago, so I don't remember the details, but they never called me to tell me that everything was in place for an installation, and I called them two weeks later, and they were like "oh, we were going to call you... tomorrow... to schedule an appointment." Ya, right. At some point, I had to give them a final payment for the work, and I actually had to call them some time later and be like "Hello? Did you want to get paid?" So, I recall two times that I felt like my paperwork had fallen through the cracks and I had to call them to remind them I was a customer.

During the inspection they also provided water flow management devices for our showers, replaced bulbs with LED, and installed a smart surge protector in our media room. The report they provided gave us recommendations for insulation, tuneup, and other installations to help improve our HVAC efficiency. The quote included prices and rebates available. We easily selected the options we wanted and scheduled the work. It was a fraction of the cost if we had engaged contractors without going through the energy audit. They managed the rebate process and we only had to pay the remaining balance. We had blown-in and spray foam insulation done in our attic. Once this was complete, Zero Draft retested and showed that the install increased our efficiency by over 20%. I can actually feel and see the difference. It's noticeably warmer inside. Our roof used to have frost on half and not on the other half because so much heat was rising up. After they installed our insulation the entire roof stays frosty and more f the heat stays in our living spaces. They even got into spaces I never thought were accessible!

I would give them negative stars if I could!…read more Two years ago, I asked for a summer cleaning and agreed to purchase a remote monitoring system that was supposed to constantly inform them of the condition of my HVAC system and have them right there is something went wrong. Paid over $1,200 for it! Each month I got a couple of emails telling me everything was OK. That was until my system blew up. I never got a call or a notice that my system had an issue or was even offline! They took my $1,200 and sent me a couple of useless emails and that was it and my AC until was smoking in the back and they were clueless. I called and told them my system was toast (which they should have known and told ME about) they kind of shrugged and came and gave me an estimate for over $14,000 for a new AC unit! Still no word on why the ultra-modern monitoring system didn't tell anyone. I went with a Carrier system from Costco for about $6,000 after rebates and discounts... the best decision ever! I called to have Minniks to come and hook up the monitoring system again ... no callback, no word ... nothing. As in NOTHING. I pretty much wrote off the $1,200 (anybody got that kinda cash to flush?) but now no one wants to touch my furnace because of the rat's nest of wires and sensors Minniks installed! Something just came up with my AC here in July. Appears to be with the wiring (who woulda thunk it!). I called their after-hours "Emergency" number at 9:30 PM. It's now 11:53 PM and no one called back. When I called their "answering service" back after two hours, they pretty much said, "Yeah. No idea why the tech on call didn't get back to you but, nobody's gonna call you back tonight. Maybe in the morning." I'll call them in the AM. Why do I think they're going to charge me several hundred bucks to put my system back the way it was? Should I let them? Do NOT .. NOT do business there.

From start to finish,…read moretheir communication, project management, quality of work, and ability to stay on schedule were outstanding. H&C was not the least expensive quote I received, but they also weren't the most expensive. In my experience, the value they delivered more than justified the investment. One of the things I found particularly valuable was the project management app they use. It made it easy to manage the project from end to end, stay informed, review decisions, and keep everything organized in one place. The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. The fact that I chose to work with them a second time says a lot about my confidence in their team and the quality of their work. I would highly recommend H&C Construction to anyone considering a kitchen remodel. They are professional, organized, communicative, and committed to delivering quality work--and they made what can be a stressful process feel very well managed.

Unfortunately their estimate was fully double the one we got from a different company. Worst part: charging us for things like moving the fridge AND putting it back. If we want the ice maker reconnected, it's more than $100! Insane. And our house is all electric (no gas) but they're charging us to reconnect the gas line! I can't imagine how much people overlook when choosing this company. It's too bad, too, because they were our first choice. Not anymore.
