Wow what a magical and fun experience. We were absolutely blown away by the amount of energy and decorations in this place. If you love fantasy and a bit of sci-fi you will love this place. The servers were very attentive and really get into the theme and fantasy behind it. Keep in mind this isn't a bar that services alcohol (however we were told they are building a "hidden room" that may feature some adult fun drinks). There is drinks and ice cream, all of which are very sweet and yummy. We enjoyed the ice cream and the fun themed names of each item. Our one complaint was that my mom found a large piece of plastic in her ice cream. Once we told our server he was very kind and they took care of us and made sure we got something to compensate. Honestly, I was expecting all fantasy aesthetic but terrible drinks because Laguna Hills but also cuz it's a little gimmicky and food dye/glitter galore. Unexpectedly, it was pretty decent and the staff was great. Arrived right at 6pm on a Saturday when they opened so no wait but it started getting busy around 7pm and they have a yelp wait-list! Mostly only bar seating and you can order food through WoodFire Kabob right next to it. Plenty of parking. Ordered the Cirenity which was essentially a passionfruit butterfly iced tea and lots of edible glitter (optional but it's pretty amusing). Their aloe vera jelly was pretty standard fare. Tried my friend's honey boba and it was actually decent. Good chew and slightly warm, no artificial taste. My friends ordered the Prophecy (black milk tea with cardamom) which I wasn't too much of a fan cuz it was extra florally unless you're into that. Another friend ordered the Oracle and it's a regular matcha milk tea, not as bitter as I would like and pretty sweet. We had a magical time at elixir. We went with two young kids and the ambience and character work by the team were incredible. It's located above the vape shop and next to a psychic shop. The door was usually closed because when it was open it smelled like someone was vaping. Upon entering Elixir, I felt like I was entering a fantasy realm. The choice in design was amazing and truly matched the DND/Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings theme. The ceiling had glowing lights and it was overall a very pleasant tea bar. However, the boba I ordered (oolong green tea one with blue syrup) was extremely sweet. I also had a sip of the coffee one and I thought it was sweet as well. I was surprised that the waitress didn't ask for a sweetness adjustment like most boba places. Took the wife and teenage son here for a round of bobas. The decor was absolutely delightful with references to fantasy for all ages (e.g. Harry Potter, The Princess Bride, Game of Thrones). The elven staff were well costumed and pretty attentive. The drinks themselves...they were pretty to look at but not good. The boba was almost impossible to suck up in the straws because they were so hard and clumped together. While my Oracle had a nice, strong matcha flavor, my wife's jasmine tea was incredibly tasteless. My son thought his caffeine-free Cirenity was pretty good, but I thought it was a bit too sweet. We all appreciated that they substituted the dairy in the drinks we ordered with either almond or oat milk at no additional charge. We were pretty disappointed with the wizard test. We knew it involved smoke bubbles and a wand, but nothing else. We did not realize it came with another drink (the amulet) which, if we had known, we would have requested it come with oat milk instead of dairy since I am allergic to dairy. And while our waitress who performed the test was pretty good at walking my son through how to do it, it didn't seem like she was prepared to handle the scenario that he couldn't direct the smoke bubble with his wand into his drink. She basically said he didn't pass the test and walked away. Huh? How about some kind of consolation prize, like putting a smoke bubble on the drink for him so he could at least see the drink with the bubble. Our elven waitress even asked if we had feedback. I told her the boba was too hard to drink. She acknowledged she heard me, but left without saying what she would do with that information. While it would have been nice if she offered to substitute the boba with something else, simply saying she was going to let the owner / manager know would have been fine. But given how many other reviewers on Yelp have said the same thing, I doubt anything will be done about it. This was a cafe I really wanted to give 5 stars, but the execution of actually running an experiential cafe fell flat. Menus weren't descriptive enough (what is Unicorn and Kraken style teas? What does the wizard test include?). The waitress even had to explain that the glasses pictured in the menu would not be the glasses we would actually be getting. Boba was not well prepared. The Jasmine green tea was flavorless. Our son got his drink at least 10 minutes before we got ours. The Wizard Test was disappointing. They ran out of ice cream and had no other things to snack on. We went twice. My kids really liked the wizard test but it's too pricey to keep doing. The first time we went we weren't told that there was automatic gratuity and the way their portable electronic pay thing is set up, you can't see the check and so I almost double tipped. They also didn't tell me that some of our drinks got a free second refill. The second time the machine was confusing and they did say it's an automatic 18% tip, but the machine then forces you to choose a percentage anyways and defaults to 18%. So basically be careful and manually change it to zero...it is not intuitive. The teas were definitely cocktail prices without alcohol like another reviewer said. I loved the one with cardamom and would have grabbed it to-go in the future but not for $11. After the second time we decide we will come back someday, but not for a long time. Elixir Tea Bar was especially made for the wizard and witch fanbase who also enjoy boba at the same time as you can cast spells with your wands and snap cool photos along the way. Was not expecting to have so much fun. My group was actually looking for a bar post concert and did not realize they DO NOT SERVE ALCOHOL. Lol. We were hoping to get boba cocktails but oh well. Sometimes when things don't go as planned, you end up having an adventure! Note - they do not take reservations so be prepared to wait if you come during busy times. From the moment you are greeted (by the Gandalf-like wizard) you are immersed in fun and fantasy. Your servers are elves or hobbits or something from the likes of Lord of the Rings. The decor is woodland fairyish with the Dungeons & Dragons movie playing on the wall mounted TVs. There might even be patrons dressed up themselves. The menu is not that big - it's more about presentation and whimsy than anything else. Our group was big enough where we were able to order every drink and ice cream on the menu. They also gave us each a little freebie drink since it was crazy busy and we had to wait a while on a Saturday night. When your order comes your elvish server hands you a wand and shoots a misty bubble to test if you're a true wizard. I'm happy to report that I am! (I won't give away the trick, so you'll have to come try it yourself!) Upon arriving, I laughed when I saw it was nestled between a sex and tobacco shop. What a place to get boba! To get to Elixir, go towards Purple Haze and to the right up the staircase. At the top, it's on the left. Love how the folks that work there embrace cosplay and they're super friendly! Our drinks were all different and magically delicious! The wizard test (catching smoke filled bubbles with your drink) was a fun element in our Elixir experience. In the corner, they have some merch you can buy (coffee, tea, bottles, glasses, etc). Also, you can get free popcorn if you could solve a metal hand puzzle. The music in there is oddly soothing. It's called bardcore and I solved the puzzle listening to Coolio's Gansta's Paradise (YouTube Bardcore Gansta's Paradise). I walked away with free kettle corn and good memories! Family and I came to try this place a while back (a few months or so ago) and honestly had higher expectations given the hype on the photos and other reviews. First, there was a slight wait at the door guarded by a closely resembling Dumbledore host which wasn't a problem given the limited seating inside. The atmosphere was fun, whimsical, and even dungeon & dragons-esque. Their menu was quite limited but showed promising variety of boba drinks ranging from mystical flavors to your more traditional milk teas with pea flower for color. That's about where the positivity ends in regards to the drinks (main event). The boba drinks themselves were overly sweet, unnecessarily complicated in the mixtures, obviously not fresh but pre-mixed bases, and had edible glitter and colors that really turned the drink into a darker than desirable color. (Almost like throw up brown). The boba was likely made earlier in the day and was chilled because the center was still hard when chewing, and had no taste so likely not stored in brown sugar or honey. (Family owns some boba stores up in NorCal so I guess I'm a slight boba snob) We ordered some ice cream thinking there would be something unique about it, but nah. Thrifty ice cream taste better as what we got was a couple scoops in a bowl. The ice cream was the same stuff you get from Ralph's. Nothing special or attractive in presentation. Costing wise it was quite pricey for what we got. Can't recall exactly but I do know we walked out like wtf did we just pay for. Low key we tossed the drinks immediately as soon as we left, it was that bad. The concept was nice in a mystical dragon hangout and the owner promoted it as such. He even walks around with this bubble smoke machine and does a little show to drop a bubble of smoke into off your boba before it bursts and releases the smoke in a veil over your drink. (Tip, don't use and oaky smoke liquid that's more suited for whiskey, try using a tea infused liquid) There's a little hidden area in the back we got to see and learn from the owner his plans to turn it into more of an exclusive club for those who buy this "golden coin" for a whopping $100. When asked what other benefits that $100 coin gets you the reply was quite disappointing being "not many" as there's nothing else you get except access and a free boba drink. Overall, If you're looking for a place to nerd out on dragons and board games with friends and you don't care the drinks really taste bad, then this is your spot. But if you're like most of us who actually want good boba that isn't overly sweet with actual tea flavor and not rock hard boba, then for the love of God look elsewhere. read more

HONEST REVIEW... sorry it is long. Had seen this on IG, heard from a friend it was cool. Had Portland friends visiting and thought that we could all check this place out. Boba might need more time to cook as it was still a bit hard. TRAGICALLY, it was ALL DOWNHILL FROM THERE! Our waitress came over and NEVER introduced themselves by name so we are clueless as to her name but she wanted to take our orders straight away. We had explained it was our first time there and needed a few minutes to look at the menu and such. She came back and kinda KILLED THE VIBE for the 4 of us. We could tell from her TONE and TENSE FACE that she DID NOT WANT TO SERVE US. She PUSHED MAGIC UPGRADE TWICE before she left with our orders...which we declined nicely both times since we just wanted to take everything in this visit. She mentioned 2 of us got a free refill since we had smaller cups which we thought was cool. We got our drinks and about 10 mins later, as we were trying to catching up and enjoy the vibes, she returned again and interrupt our conversation to ask if we wanted to try some magic. We again declined (3 times now) and she asked if we wanted a refill already to which our cups still had tea but we were okay. About 10 mins later she came back to close us out without us asking for it and again mentioned that we never upgraded our drinks so we would have to come back another time to do so. It made all of us FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. Not sure if she's new to serving but it made for a PAINFUL EXPERIENCE that made me wish that I never stepped foot inside. Upon checking out she kept the payment device in her hands and at a 90 degree angle which me made it hard for me to use. We have the best time at Elixir! The passion fruit boba drink (Cerenity) and cookies and cream ice cream are our favorites. You can pay $5 per person to enjoy the wizard bubble ceremony, which the kids loved! The service is great and the staff are so nice. The ambience is incredible. There are so many cool knick knacks here that were so interesting and fun, that I felt bad for not paying more money for my drinks/ice cream. We kept staring at this troll looking thing with blue hair that reminded me of my childhood, but I couldn't remember from where initially, and later found out it was Loo-Kee from the She-Ra cartoon that we used to have to try to find (like Where's Waldo) in each episode.
