Staff was friendly. Common room they served appetizers, wine & dessert in was nice. Location was good for what we were doing. But here's what you should know: 1. We had room 128, I forgot the name of it. But it was on the 2nd floor in the court yard area. It did have an old stale musty smell to it. You will need to carry your suitcase to your room yourself upstairs or have the older gentleman there do it. We did it ourselves. So maybe consider where your room is located. There were more rooms to this place than we thought. It's more like a small motel feel to me once we were in the courtyard. There is no Kleenex in the room or bathroom. We travel a lot and stay at a lot of hotels & b&b's and this is the 1st time I had to use toilet paper to blow my nose. Oh god, and this was the biggest issue I had. The room was in the courtyard area. There's a balcony you walk on to get to it. People with rooms around you will be walking past your room. However, the curtains on the full glass doors did NOT cover the edges. Our bed was right there when you walk in. You definitely can not change comfortably in the room, you must go to the bathroom to ensure privacy. We ended up having to hang the two robes they provided for use in the closet, and hang them from the curtain rod on the doors to cover the large gaping gaps! I also pushed the floor lamp against the curtains on the main large window to keep that gap closed. 2. The breakfast is terrible! McDonald's bfast is better. No, really. I will say that it is photo worthy. It looks decent. I'm not even sure where the bfast is made as there is a closet sized kitchen with no food being made in it, in the hallway you go through to get to courtyard. There is no smells of bacon & sausage being made in the morning. Yet we are presented with it. The sausage was dried little gross disks. The waffles were thin, not like in a couple photos we saw online, and they were DRENCHED in a canned syrup with peaches. Non-edible. The egg thing I think was a quiche or frittata. Either way, it was the worst tasting and textured thing ever. And my husbands toast was burnt bad on one side, but they cleverly put it on the plate with the burnt side facing down. We literally took one bite of everything and left most the bfast there. Holiday inn bfast is better. They say 'prepared by chefs...' yaaaa, that's a stretch to call anyone a chef plopping premade things together & serving burnt toast. 3. Not by any fault of the b&.B, but just so you know, You must park on street. Free on Sunday, must pay during the week. You can buy a parking pass from the b&b which I think was $20 for 24 hours. There may have been a 48 hour one for a few bucks less, I can't recall. Or you pay the meter on your phone. Would I ever go back to this b&b? NO would I recommend to friends & family? My daughter was married in Savannah and the family and wedding party stayed the weekend at the Eliza Thompson. The staff is phenomenal, kind and helpful. They were willing to host the welcome party in the beautiful courtyard and went above and beyond to make everything perfect. I wish I could remember everyone's names but I do remember two: Kudo's to Chef Mike. He went out of his way to accomodate my friends dietary restrictions and would come out of the kitchen to check on our breakfasts. The girls who filled our coffee cups and served our breakfasts were so friendly and had the best smiles. Mo was our housekeeper and her positivity and friendliness was exceptional. The picturesque, stately Eliza Thompson House, sits along the storied Jones St. This street has been called The Most Beautiful Street in America for good reason. Lined by majestic oaks draped with Spanish Moss, it is simply impossible to take a bad picture (unless its a selfie --- ooops sorry). After you have climbed your chosen set of stairs on one side of the double staircase, and opened the door of the Inn, you are greeted by an elegant vestibule. The Common Room to the right of the vestibule features a historic vibe and well-appointed decor. The adults-only environment was perfect for us, two vacationing teachers. Add to the mix the Eliza Thompson's reputation as a Haunted Hotel. To all this, I must add that it is quite expensive. I am aware that it may lie beyond the means of many, and grateful for the privilege of my 5-night stay. So, aside from picturesque, elegant, historic, well appointed, child-free, possibly haunted and expensive, what else is there to say about the Eliza Thompson House to justify the 5 stars? If you aren't in the mood for a lengthy descriptive review, then TLDR. Just skip to the last paragraph. Let's start with the location. Located in the North District, this Inn combines the charm of an actual residential neighborhood with the convenience of a ten minute walk to downtown, Southern District and River District. To add to the pluses of the location, count the close proximity to Forsythe Park. A beautiful 15 minute walk through the park will bring you to the Victorian district, which has a strikingly different architectural style. It is so central that my husband and I, who almost always choose to rent a car, chose to have a week of walking trips. In all these respects, the Eliza Thompson was ideally poised for a proper Savannah visit! As to the quality of the rooms, they are the height of urban historical luxury, with 4 poster beds and high ceilings. This is particularly evident in the main house. We stayed in rooms in both the main house and the courtyard wing. We had been aware of this, the staff did the move for us, and we got to see a different side of the Eliza Thompson House. The rooms were so individualized and charming, and it turned out to be a pleasure to stay in both of the rooms. The only thing that I would wish for is a desk and chair suitable for writing. However, I am not going to take off a star for that. be possible for someone with a light appetite to do all of one's eating here. A friendly, courteous and helpful staff energetically offered to help us at every turn. The Inn happily booked trolley tour tickets and taxis for us! They even let us use their computer to pre-book our flights. However, if you are already daunted by the expense at Eliza Thompson, be sure to ask in advance whether there is a charge for these service (more about this later). Actually, I recall seeing a list of charges somewhere in our room, but stupidly ignored this. The staff is so incredibly gracious that it feels that it is all being done from the goodness of their hearts. Certainly, that holds true for many of the kind gestures, but not all. Best to ask. The special little touches certainly help to justify the price tag: wine and cheese in the late afternoon, and sherry and dessert at 9:00, offered very elegant opportunities to meet other guests and compare notes about Savannah. With delicious and ample house prepared breakfasts, the Eliza Thompson House offered so many opportunities for food and refreshment that it would be possible to do all one's eating here. After we arrived home, we discovered $300 in charges that we could not account for. My husband phoned, and they courteously went through it all with him. Remember some of those services, like booking trolley tickets? Not only do you pay for your ticket, but also a gratuity to the hotel for the booking service. Fair enough: we should have asked or read the info. in the hotel room. To sum all this up, if you are looking for a conveniently located, adult-only environment in a historic Inn, in a gorgeous and very historic setting on The Most Beautiful Street in America, and you are able to manage the rates and charges, the Eliza Thompson House may be for you. The Haunted Hotel stories add a certain intrigue, and the full report of paranormal investigations is available for you to read in the common room. However, although we stayed both in the courtyard rooms and the Inn proper, we never had the slightest sense of any paranormal presence. There are so many lovely, elegant things about the Eliza Thompson house that I can't begin to list them all. We usually drive around and camp, and this was a novel experience for me. It all comes with a high price tag which, for us, was worth it. Finally, a shout out to the staff, especially Tess and the chef, for a wonderful stay. The check-in is so easy, so much better than standing in a line. Upon check-in, any questions I had or answered and I was given brochures that I inquired about for my stay. I loved that we got to choose what time we would like to be served for breakfast out on the patio. It doesn't take long to figure out why this is the best B & B in Savannah. My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway for our anniversary. The check in staff was very helpful and pleasant. We arrived later so missed the evening wine and snacks but the staff directed us to a wonderful restaurant just down the street. The room was spacious but be warned, the beds are very high! I needed the step stool to get into it. Breakfast was served in the courtyard, open air, which was refreshing as COVID was still a big concern (this was in February). The food was delicious and if we ever requested something different they were sweet and accommodated. We had an amazing weekend and look forward to returning. It was easily within walking distance of almost everything in the historic district but time prevented us from seeing it all. read more

Would highly recommend this pace to stay if your visiting Savannah. It's located on Jones street the most beautiful street in America. It's quiet and away from the hustle of river street and downtown Savanah but within walking distance to everything (although highly recommend god walking shoes) you can also easily Uber or rent a bike which i highly Recommend it's a wonderful way to see the area! The Eliza house is stunning. It offers amazingly Friendly staff always looking out to make your stay more wonderful. What an excellent experience for our first bed and breakfast accommodation. We were blown away by the superb amenities and hospitality! First off, upon arrival, we were greeted and checked in, while our luggage was taken upstairs to our room. Our room was huge, and very clean. It had historical touches, and an exciting champagne and strawberry welcome on our bed. The a/c unit kept the room nice and cold during the hot days we were there (115* heat index!). The house overall was very quiet. We were expecting to hear some creaking in the floor boards due to this historical nature of the house, but not a sound! We were able to sleep without an issue. We did not have robes in our room, but not a big deal to us. 8:30-10:00am was breakfast which was downstairs in the beautiful courtyard. There were 2-tops underneath an awning and larger tables in the courtyard. The staff was constantly cleaning up, re-filling, and greeting the guests. They were great! The food was outstanding, with typical southern staples that filled your stomach (grits, biscuits, eggs, sausage/bacon, potatoes) and also healthier options (yogurt, fresh fruit). Plenty of coffee and juice as well. 5:30pm wine/hors devours and 8:00pm dessert were above and beyond! Everyone meets in the parlor and enjoys the plentiful offerings while socializing. We met some great people during these gatherings and it was one of my favorite things about the house. Some examples of hors devours included cheeses, bruschetta, cocktail shrimp, spinach and artichoke dip, and bacon wrapped brussel sprouts. Some examples of desserts included brownies, strawberry shortcake, and peach crumble. Again, refilled often and made deliciously by the impeccable team. Overall, we were sad to leave. It was such a lovely place to stay. The staff were all so very friendly & inviting. The grounds were beautiful!! We loved sitting in the courtyard & enjoying breakfast there each morning. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer! It was in a excellent location on the most beautiful street in Savannah! The breakfast was phenomenal! Each morning you get to choose a drink, starter, entree, & sides. It was hands down the best food we ate while in Savannah! The only regret I have is I wish we had stayed on the ground level. Three flights of stairs got old quick but the view was gorgeous so I can't complain! Edit: After looking through the photos others have posted I can't help but notice our room was very small and underwhelming comparatively. I almost wish I hadn't seen the other photos because now I am disappointed that I didn't stay in one of the other rooms. The Good: Wonderful, accommodating staff, great location, very nice courtyard, and lovely parlor/common space. The Not So Good: The Lindsey Room The first thing to jump out at me when viewing the photographs of the Lindsey Room were the bright and vibrant colors. The two large windows suggested that there would be plenty of natural light. Reality, I discovered, was quite different. The walls were actually a dull tan, making the room look dark and dreary. Shockingly, the view from the two large windows, five feet away, was that of a cinder block wall, upon which two paintings were hung. Confused, I went back on the Eliza Thompson website, and took a second, closer look at the photographs. Very faintly visible outside the right side window was, in fact, a cinder block wall. The splash of blurry color outside of the left side window wasn't nature but one of those paintings. There was no hint of a cinder block wall. Photoshopped? So, what can be done to improve this room? ? A fresh paint job and better lighting would help a lot. Moving onto the bathroom. I completely understand, of course, that the bathroom can't be made larger, nor can the layout be changed. But there are simple things that can be done to make for a better guest experience. First, put a towel rack opposite the shower so that you don't have to walk to the opposite side of the bathroom, dripping wet, to get a towel. Second, replace the shower head--it's funky. Third, the bathroom floor tiles desperately need to be replaced, or at least re-grouted, as the grout is crumbling. The Bad: Breakfast Over the years, I've been to dozens upon dozens of B&Bs throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, San Diego, Scottsdale, and Seattle and never have I experienced as low-quality food as I have here. Let me give you an example of one such meal. Despite two prior breakfasts that were well below par, the "Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberries," which I love, held out hope. Hope was soon dashed. The pancake, not pancakes, was drenched with a slick of cloyingly sweet goo, surrounding a few thawed and lonely blueberries. Contrast this with what ought to have been: a couple of pancakes, in which one could actually identity the presence of ricotta, FRESH blueberries, QUALITY butter, and REAL maple syrup. For a few dollars more you could actually please your guests. Additionally, it was obvious to me that the contents in the fruit cup had been cut many days prior, as the melon was verging on spoiled. One morning of our stay we ordered scrambled eggs which were actually well prepared, even quite good. This leads me to believe that none of the above was the chef's fault. A chef can cook only with ingredients supplied by management--mostly frozen or packaged, it appeared. There are far better breakfast options within walking distance, especially the Collins Quarter. Or stick to the eggs if you must. read more

Being an avid B&B traveler, I must say this was the worst B&B I have ever experienced and I have stayed at B&B's around the world. First, this is not a B&B, it is a hotel. There are 25 rooms and the majority are an afterthought of courtyard rooms that are subpar hotel-like rooms. One can't throw a few pieces of vintage furniture into a space and consider it charming. There was one public room which they called a parlor. Furniture needed replaced and all 25 rooms were expected to meet in this space for wine and pre-packaged hors douerves. Breakfast was a joke. We were seated in the courtyard with 43 degree temperatures. Heaters did not work. There is no innkeeper to greet you or tell you the history of the home. We had called for a 2 night stay in the best room in the main house. The manager advised it was only available for the one night but said she could put us in another room and the next day we could just move over to the main house room. When we checked in, we were advised we would have to check out by 11 and come back at 4 to check in again for the other room. This was totally unacceptable and not what we were told. We cancelled the 2nd night and were delighted to leave this hotel and find a true B&B. Don't waste your money here. There are plenty of beautiful and quaint B&B's in Savannah to choose from where you will receive the service and surroundings expected of a true B&B. read more

TLDR: A nice place, but vastly overpriced. My wife and I had watched Youtube videos discussing the "haunted" aspect of the Inn, especially the R Bruce Room, so thought this would be a perfect place to spend Halloween. We did so even though the room was going for $479/night (before taxes) for both Friday & Saturday night of Halloween weekend, and another $309 for Sunday night. Not to mention an additional $20/night as an "amenities" fee. All told, the charge was $1,514 for 3 nights. But money is secondary if the experience is worth the price. Unfortunately, in this case, it definitely was not. We were completely disappointed that the Inn didn't even seem to acknowledge Halloween, much less make a big deal about it. The front desk didn't even have any candy when trick-or-treaters came by early Sunday evening. Additionally, the property next door had their entire courtyard decorated with ghosts, goblins, skeletons, etc., but there was absolutely nothing done to the courtyard of the Inn's property (or pretty much anywhere else in the house, for that matter.) This was actually kind of comical because when we first drove up to the Inn and found a parking spot right in front of the Eliza Thompson House, my wife noticed the courtyard and got excited to see the decorations. It wasn't until we checked in and looked out on the courtyard from the parlor of the Eliza Thompson House that she realized that the courtyard belonged to the adjoining property, while the courtyard of the Eliza Thompson House was completely bereft of any Halloween decorations. The other aspect of our visit that was disappointing was the fact that when we made our reservations, and again just days before our arrival, the Inn sent us an email asking if we had any dietary restrictions or preferences. My wife has Celiac Disease, so must eat gluten-free. Although not a medical dietary restriction, I prefer to maintain a Vegan diet. Although we each had some options for breakfast, there was virtually nothing for either of us to eat during the evening social happy hour or later dessert hour. This was disappointing to us because we had stayed at B&B Inns earlier this year in St. Augustine and last Christmas in Savannah, and in both instances, the chefs prepared special entree's for us or otherwise ensured that we would have a selection of items to eat. Eliza Thompson did neither. And while I don't necessarily expect restaurants or B&Bs to cater to our dietary needs, they shouldn't give the impression that they will accommodate us if they have no intention of doing so. But that's enough negativity. The property itself is very nice, the neighborhood can't be beat, and the staff are friendly and go out of their way to try to make your stay a positive one. I'd like to single out one staff member in particular, Kevin, who was friendly and assisted us throughout our stay. When we drove up to the inn that Friday afternoon, he was standing outside and immediately came over to our car and asked if we needed help with our luggage. He then took our bags upstairs to our room even before we had been completely checked in. He also worked the social hours and made sure our glasses were full. He also wanted to serve us food, but unfortunately, there wasn't much for us to eat. I think a 3-star review is fair, because the negatives and the positives cancel each other out. If you don't have dietary restrictions, and you find a good price (perhaps 1/2 what we paid), then I can still recommend this Inn. As for us, we'll probably go back to where we stayed for Christmas. read more

The Eliza Thompson House was by far the worst hotel accommodations I have experienced in my travels. At check-in I was escorted to room 136, the room was filthy and disgusting. Years' worth of dust caked everywhere, mold and mildew in the bathroom, hair and gunk in sink, chairs and bedding were stained and soiled. I alerted the front desk that the room was less than satisfactory and asked to be moved to another room. They responded that they would send the manager up to see, which I happily agreed to! After 5 minutes, they called again to say the manager was busy and to just come downstairs. They NEVER apologized and were very disgruntled that I didn't care to stay in their pig pen of a room. I was begrudgingly moved to a sketchy basement room that was dark and dank. The front door that was only accessible by the street would barely lock with a thin slide bar. I spent the night with one eye open, expecting the homeless of Savannah (or worse!) to barge through the door at any moment! There are many nice hotels in Savannah where your time and money would be better spent! Avoid this filthy trap at all cost! Dirty rooms, unfriendly and rude staff! The Eliza Thompson house was the best bed and breakfast that I have stayed at. The bellman and the staff were more than accommodating. The rooms are very nice, we stayed in The Savannah Room.There is a wine and cheese hour in the evening. Followed by dessert later on. But the breakfast... Oh so good. The breakfast is served bright and early and hot! Fresh out of the kitchen. They have a great southern egg and bacon casserole , sausage, grits ,hash browns and more . It's set out on the patio looking over the beautiful gardens and they have nice heat lamps too. They feed you so much food that you can skip eating lunch and save some money. Savannah is a great walking town so we had lots of places where I could walk off all that heavy food. The Rooms at the Eliza Thompson house are BEAUTIFUL. And very private. I actually had a room below the bed and breakfast with a private entrance. It was nice because I didn't have to worry about waking other guest up going in and out. There is a local trolley that will also pick you up outside of the Eliza Thompson house for easier access to the downtown area. The street that Eliza is located on is one of the oldest streets and one of the few that is still all brick. It's beautiful ! There aren't enough words to describe all the great things about The Eliza Thompson House. If I go back to Savannah one day there is no other place that I would ever stay. read more

I searched long and hard for a B&B I thought would be fitting to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Disappointing is an understatement. When we pulled up a man met us at the curb and literally grabbed our luggage and took us to our room bumping corners along the way. It really made me anxious how quickly it all happened. It was such a rushed and weird reception. We went to the room and there wasn't a professional explanation of the B&B. We didn't go in through the front entrance, we were taken in an unpleasant concrete alley way behind a locked gate. Our room was underwhelming. By the TV there was a bucket with a small bottle of champagne and a card. Handwriting is important to me in any formal presentation. This was odd writing to say the least. There were no mints, no tiny vase with a single flower, nothing.....just anticlimactic and underwhelming to say the least. First impression was such a let down. The bed was rock hard and so unbelievably uncomfortable. The 1st morning we wanted to get info on the hop on, hop off shuttle. The man we talked with gave us sparse info and just really didn't seem to know anything about the shuttle options. We felt no guidance as a tourist at all!! My husband, myself, and the guy were all searching the internet to check out the shuttle info. I just assumed the front desk would have this all memorized and be used to being helpful. The dessert hour we came down to enjoy and there was nothing there. The gal working said, "did you want chocolate cake?" She went back and got me a thin slice of cake that was not good. Didn't taste homemade. This B&B is reactive vs. proactive. Dessert hour, there was nothing displayed, and one choice of a dessert? This is the second B&B we've stayed at and the OTHER one had 4 options nightly all homemade in house displayed gorgeous. Not here. There are warm sodas available and a bucket of half melted ice. If I had a B&B I'd change SO MANY THINGS! Hospitality is my area of expertise and the whole stay didn't impress. I'd not let ice get watery and soupy. I'd have cold beverages at all times for our well paid guests. I'd display desserts beautifully, even if covered in plastic-wrap due to COVID. Like I said before REACTIVE to guests, not PROACTIVE. I have zero clue who owns this establishment!?! We haven't seen anyone going around to guests and asking how their stay is going? No "innkeeper" type overseeing the B&B. You're getting bare minimum and no attention at high falootin' spoiled B&B prices. Really expected nice touches that were just not there. B&Bs are supposed to boast of hospitality. As much as I searched, I'm devastated this is what I ended up choosing. I love writing positive reviews, I just can't think of a single thing to rave about, honestly. This B&B either needs to lower their prices and star rating accordingly or up their game exponentially! Side note, no affirmation of cleaning practices on how they are cleaning for COVID. After reading such great reviews around the same time frame by other guests it really saddens me how invisible we really were. Lucky them. read more

Book the Lindsey room. Really beautiful, one of the 2 original rooms in the house with a gigantic king bed. Definitely the best room in my opinion. Breakfast was better than expected. A really nice selection served buffet style (which I prefer to a plated breakfast as is the case at some other B&B's). On the day we were there they had a yummy baked egg dish, hash browns, sausage, ham, grits, warm biscuits and an assortment of breads and muffins. If I could give this place no stars I would. First, this is not a bed and breakfast, it is a hotel with 25 rooms, so there is nothing quaint about the usual bed and breakfasts one goes to. They want you to check in no sooner than 4 PM so there was a line at 4 when checking in which took 30 minutes. Their wine hour at 5 was comical because it is held in their only room the parlor room which only has 2 couches and 4 chairs so you can imagine guests for 25 rooms is a circus. Breakfast is served outdoors and they have no heat, so we ate our food in 43 degree temperature. To make things worse, their add on rooms in the courtyard look no different than a modern motel 8 and they have the audacity to charge nearly $300, truly unbelievable and we will never recommend this hotel to anyone read more

Love, Love, LOVED the Eliza Thompson House! My husband and I took a weekend trip to Savannah (and just like other commentators, we've wanted to go since reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil). This was also our first B&B experience. The location couldn't be any more perfect. It's right in the middle of the historic district, so we were able to just park the car and walk everywhere. Regarding parking, there are meters on the street and the city sweeps different sides of the street each night, but there are signs indicating which side each night. The meters are also free on the weekend, but cost on M-F. We stayed in the R. Bruce room and it was wonderful. The ceiling was so neat (as you can see in the photos). It felt like a dream. Service was great...certainly nice to come back to Andes mints each night. Bathroom was okay...but what do you expect when you have a house that old that was converted to a B&B in the middle of the 20th century? Breakfast was good. My favorite part was the biscuits (which were apparently not homemade, but still delicious). The food rotated each morning but it was basically an egg dish, meat, biscuits, grits, muffins/bread and yogurt/fruit/granola. The heated inside area was a little tight, but I'm sure we could have taken advantage of the courtyard as it wasn't THAT cold. We had the hors d'eourves one night (wine, deviled eggs, toast with a spread, cheese and crackers) and the desserts (cream puffs and cake and coffee) as well. Nice touch! More than what we expected! The check in process was efficient, we were shown around the property, given our breakfast menu and went straight to afternoon tea. The food provided during afternoon snack, late dessert and breakfast were all good. I didn't feel the need to get breakfast elsewhere. Don't expect the room to be like a JW... it's old, it's a bed and breakfast, and it looks exactly like that. The bedding was soft, perfect for a nap after walking all day. Despite covid, we got room service every day. They even let us borrow an umbrella for the weekend. I highly recommend! read more

If you want the Old Southern Charm experience, this is the place to go. Located at the beautiful Jones St lined with trees and cobblestones, it was just majestic walking to and from the house. We were lucky enough to score parking across the street so we just walked the whole time going around. Front desk was friendly and helpful! We got a basic room it was really cozy with views of the courtyard. Small bathroom but works well and is complete with the basic amenities you might need. My favorite part was the cocktails before dinner and dessert with coffee after. It was a great way to meet new people! There is good, free breakfast at the courtyard every morning too! The house is immaculately kept while maintaining it's historical relevance. The courtyard was absolutely gorgeous, the room was incredibly pretty (minus the horribly scary picture fixed above the bed), the complimentary snacks and brunch were fantastic, and everyone working there had a smile on and remembered us by name. As soon as we walked into our room, a mere 10 feet from the front door, it reeked of mold. The bathroom sink's faucet was ill fitted for the sink, requiring you touch the back of the sink to catch the water stream. The drain plug was rusted, and the back sink lip was moldy. The bathtub/shower was the strangest thing we ever saw- being only @3 feet long. The water pressure was very poor and water temperature waffled from tepid to boiling hot. Bath fixtures were cheap and aged and the tub surface was peeling off. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Lumpy and sloping down on one side- feeling like you'd fall out of the bed. The pillows were pancake thin and the bedding was a sheet and thin soiled blanket with a thin bed spread. Because we were so close to the front door, you could hear everything starting from 7:30 am. I could only imagine they could hear us!!! The food was .. meh. Mediocre at best. All the people were very nice but for over $500/ night- totally not worth it!!!! read more

The first room they put us in was completely unacceptable. There was a huge mildew problem, the carpet was stained everywhere and the room was generally dusty. They moved us to a much nice room in the old part of the house but the staff was generally rude and unhelpful. read more

This is the kind of place you want to stay in if you visit Savannah. The rooms are small, and its pricey, but the house is full of history and charm. If you want to feel immersed in the old world feel of Savannah, then you'll want to stay at one of the historic homes. Plus it's located on the most beautiful block in the historic district, which is the area you'd want to stay in. The staff are all very friendly, the courtyard is beautiful, and there is breakfast every morning with both indoor and outdoor seating. The service here was incredible!! We were greeted before we even made it to the front door and were helped with our luggage and shown were to check in. Kelly helped us check in and gave us a full walk through of the city, complete with a highlighted map of important stops and recommendations. The room was incredibly clean and tidy. We had a beautiful room overlooking the courtyard. There are always complementary wine and snacks available. The house is about a 15 minute walk to the water but it's a great way to get to see more of the city! Loved this place, we will definitely be coming back. read more

My husband and I stayed here while we attended the Masters in Augusta. Our room was on the second floor. This place is haunted. I am a scientist and I would not have believed it if I had not experienced it. During the night, I opened my eyes while I was lying on my left side and saw a girl with short cropped dark hair in a white frilly dress sitting on the couch. I was not troubled by this at that time because I was sleepy. However, I turned over on my right side and saw her staring at me while she was lying on her left side facing me. Again I was untroubled until the morning when I realized what I had seen. I can't explain it. Do I believe in ghosts? I don't know. Am I more inclined to believe in ghosts? Probably. This place gets 3 stars for no other reason except for the girl in the white frilly dress who unexpectedly appeared in the room. Also during our entire stay, the lock on our door never locked despite multiple attempts by management. read more

The Eliza Thompson House is a bit tucked away from the Downtown craziness of Savannah. In the residential area where you can enjoy the piece and quiet. The staff members are all extremely friendly and will go out of their way when it comes to give you a pleasant stay. The rooms are very spacious and make you feel like you are set back in time when Eliza Thompson was still living in the main house. The courtyard is beautiful and very peaceful. At happy hour, they serve complimentary cheese and wine as mentioned upon checkin. BUT as a surprise, they brought out meatballs and pasta salad too. All very good and homecooked by the lovely chef. The wine poured very well and it was a great time socializing with the other people that were staying in the b&b. Breakfast in the morning is also complimentary and definitely something you shouldn't miss. From home made quiche to hash browns to baking and all freshly made in house again. Breakfast is also served in the beautiful courtyard so you can wake up peacefully with the surrounding birds. Del, the general manager is one of the greatest bed & breakfast GM's I have met. He's jolly and he will make sure you feel at home all the time. Three thumbs for what he does there and for him to keep up the good job. read more

I cannot say how happy I am about my stay at the Eliza Thompson house. When originally looking for a BNB, we relied on other reviews to make our decision, and I am so glad that we chose this one. We were welcomed by Kevin. I'm not sure if he was a manager or not, but he definitely seemed like one by how hard he worked. Kevin was so friendly and accommodating. He went out of his way to make sure you were okay at all times, and was always willing to help. He, along with the other staff, truly made this stay amazing and they compelled me to write this review. If you are looking around and can't make a decision about where to stay, I would choose the Eliza Thompson house simply because of the fact that you will receive true southern hospitality here. Our room was right below the house, I loved the private entrance. The room was beautiful and a lot larger than we imagined. The decorations were so nice and felt like a real home. They offer breakfast in the morning, wine & cheese in the evening, and desserts at night. ALL of them were amazing during our time there. They even offered extra snacks during the wine & cheese! They exceeded our expectations in this area. Location wise, you are literally less than a mile from every desirable place you would want to visit in historic Savannah. We took our own car, and everything was less than 7 mins away. We were also able to walk to Forsyth park, and a couple of other places during our time here.
