I found Elizabeth's Alterations through Yelp, and Boy, am I grateful. EA is owned and operated by none other than Elizabeth herself. I found a great pair of jeans (tags still attached) at a local thrift store and brought them in for hemming. I was in and out in a jiffy and picked up my perfectly hemmed jeans one week later. I guess we were the unlucky ones. Everything went wrong. I had repeatedly asked if the jumpsuit I needed shortened could be done by Saturday, it was Monday I believe, and was told each time it would be and she would call me. Saturday came and no call so I called her and they were closed! My daughter was needing to wear it the next day on Sunday. I had to wait till Monday. Elizabeth had excuses as to why it wasn't done on time and said I had picked it up already anyway. No I hadn't and it turned out someone had given my jumpsuit to someone else and they didn't have it. They tracked it down and when I picked it up it wasn't done right! I had specifically asked for a blind hem because this was a $170 jumpsuit and we wanted it finished nicely. All they did was sew around the bottom with the sewing machine. I could have done that! AND one pant leg is shorter then the other. I don't dare go back to have it fixed in case something else would happen. At least she didn't charge me. read more

Elizabeth is FANTASTIC! Elizabeth was my third stop with an impossible bridesmaids dress. It had an all lace top with intricate detail that I needed altered because I could barely get it over my head, let alone breathe in it!! The two other places told me they would not/could not alter this dress, and I was desperate. Elizabeth was so sweet and told me she would do whatever she could, and it is PERFECT. She completely altered the entire top half of my dress within 2 weeks! You can't even tell that this dress was altered, and I can breathe! I found Elizabeth's Alterations through Yelp and was not disappointed! I called with a rush order for a skirt alteration. She got me in that same day after work around 5:45 pm. She told me I could call to see if it was done the next day - it was! I went back the next day after work to pick it up. I had even called during the day with a change to the length. It came out perfect. Her prices are extremely low. In fact, I didn't feel as though she charged me enough for what she did so added a little extra. She's a happy, amazing seamstress and I feel lucky to have found her. I will be going back soon, I'm sure! read more

Several pairs of expensive pants ruined. First were made too short and then the attempt at correcting them have them looking nothing like the originals. Won't be going back. Probably going to have to rebuy the pants and take them elsewhere. Really nice and friendly...just whole thing was a mess of a situation. read more

I am a first-and-last-time customer. Elizabeth was to alter an evening gown for a very important event. I do not own any other gowns, so this dress was my ONLY option for the event-which was 8 days out. We had a lengthy discussion - and Elizabeth knew the importance of the dress, the event, and the need for me to have it on-time. She instructed me to pick it up 4:30 p.m. on Friday. My event was on Saturday, the following day. I arrived at 4:20 on Friday to find the door locked. Elizabeth had not left a note for customers; and the phone number just rolls to a message that says, "no one is available to take your call." You do not have the option to leave a message; and there are no options in emergency situations. Obviously not many alteration "emergencies" occur. But considering this was the only formal gown I owned - and Elizabeth knew that - it was an emergency to me. I left a note on the door expressing my dismay. Elizabeth did not even give me the courtesy of calling me back. When I did speak to her, she merely stated she had to leave to pick up her grandchildren. She apologized; BUT THEN WENT ON TO BLAME ME -- saying that I should have called earlier to say I was coming. There was no reason for me to call - she instructed me to be there at 4:30 - and I was there. She had my number; and could have called me - yet she chose not to do so. Obviously, her grandchildren are important - but a simple phone call would have been acceptable customer service -- instead of blaming me for not predicting that she would have to leave her shop early. Elizabeth so smugly informed me that she's been in business for 35 years, and one disgruntled customer would not hurt her business in the least. She may be a good tailor; but her skills are meaningless when she cannot practice basic customer service protocols. I will never do business with Elizabeth - and not simply because I did not get to wear the dress. I am shocked, to say the least, that Elizabeth not only failed to acknowledge that she handled this matter inappropriately; but that she tried to shift the blame to me. Elizabeth should be ashamed. I certainly do not think that my review will have a negative impact on her business revenues - especially with existing customers; but if just one person reading this review is a little more cautious - and has a backup plan in place with doing business with Elizabeth, then I have accomplished my mission. read more

I couldn't agree more with the review from "P.D. B." I will NEVER recommend Elizabeth to ANYONE. I was recommended to use her by the gallery where I bought my wedding dress as "the best in town." I called Elizabeth 7 months in advance of my wedding and she said she didn't need to see me until 3 months before my wedding in September. The first visit was fine and she said she could do anything. The next visit when I went to see her in August and the dress was like 3 inches too small on the back and didn't even come CLOSE to closing in the back. So she took measures and asked if we wanted her to dry clean it for us, and we thought "why not?" Hit 2 birds with one stone. So my mom went to pick it up 3 weeks before my wedding and fully paid Elizabeth for both the alterations and dry cleaning-- totaling $240.00. She couldn't bring it to me until that weekend. When we took it out of the bag and tried it on it was the SAME as before-- she hadn't altered ANYTHING and it didn't come CLOSE to fitting. Also, there were COFFEE stains on the train. My mom called Elizabeth and left a message for her but she was out of the COUNTRY and wouldn't return until 4 days before my wedding. There was NO way we were going to wait until 4 days before the wedding to have Elizabeth fix her wrongdoing, so we took it to another seamstress (who did WONDERFUL work), and she discovered even more... the hem was not finished and, upon further investigation, there were MAKEUP stains INSIDE the dress. Pretty much- the dress had been worn, had not been dry cleaned, and no other alterations had been taken for the dress to fit me. This seamstress was absolutely APPALLED at Elizabeth's work and said "shame on her" for doing that to the dress, and to me just weeks before my WEDDING!! We called multiple times, but just like the review from "P.D. B." it went straight to a voicemail that said "the mailbox was full" so we couldn't even leave a message. It gets worse... we called our gallery who recommended her to let them know the TRAVESTY that Elizabeth had caused, and so they called her to ask what had happened. And when the Gallery called Elizabeth to ask her about the incident... she DENIED knowing us! She said she hadn't worked on a wedding dress for my name in months and had done no such work on a wedding dress in weeks!! She DENIED her work on our dress, even though we had PROOF on my mom's credit card that Elizabeth SIGNED AND DATED!! So, once we got the wedding dress altered and dry cleaned (and spent another $240 on it), and once the wedding happened and all the dust had settled, my mom called Elizabeth to ask her what had happened. Elizabeth then called me to talk about the situation and said I should have never taken my dress to someone else and Blamed me for getting it dirty. She said she never denied our gallery that she had worked on a dress- she said she just got us confused with another bride she was working on, which isn't true because what she told the gallery is that she hadn't worked on any Wedding gown under my name in months. How/ Why would a bride EVER put coffee stains on the train, makeup stains on the inside, rip the hem, and sew the dress so it wouldn't fit just days Before the wedding?!?! Just like the review from "P.D. B." Elizabeth Blamed us, didn't take ownership for her clear wrongdoing, and said she's not going to lose business for this wrongdoing and injustice she has caused my family because she's "so good." If this review can at least sway one person from using her, than it was worth writing it. read more
