I've used this company for a few years now. They are helpful and seem to always have the equipment that I need at a reasonable cost.

I called a local lawn mower shop about a recall on my Honda mower, expecting they'd be able to help or at least point me in the right direction. As soon as I explained the situation, the first question they asked was where I bought it. When I told them it wasn't from their store, the tone of the conversation changed immediately. They told me they couldn't assist me with the recall because I didn't purchase the mower from them. It felt abrupt--like the conversation was over before it really started. I wasn't asking for anything unusual, just help addressing a manufacturer recall, something that should apply to the product itself, not where it was bought. I understand businesses have their own policies, but it was frustrating to be turned away so quickly, especially for a safety-related issue tied to the manufacturer. I hung up feeling stuck, having to figure out on my own who would actually honor the recall and help get the issue resolved. read more

They never started my Pressure washer after I took it in. They charged me 150.00 dollars and said it was fine. They were smart asses about every thing. Some kid that works there thought it was ok to laugh at me. I'm 85 years old and don't need this. I am not paying them for this. I took it to another repair shop and they said the water pump was faulty and the Stihl shop should of noticed that up front. Don't waste your money there. read more

I brought my Craftsmen riding mower to EG power equipment when it wasn't even a year old for oil change blade sharpening and general maintenance I was informed that the deck bearings were bad I told them mowers not even a year old I had to pay for repairs and then contact craftsmen as it was under warranty . I took mower in to them the next season for same maintenance services and was told the deck bearings are bad I said that's funny as you guys replaced them last season then the story changed to oh we can grease them and they will probably last through the season If anyone has a suggestion where I can take my riding mower for general maintenance it would be greatly rad I do not want to go back here again. And just a side note when I went to pick my mower up the last time it was there the kid bringing it out of the backed crashed it into something however didnt appear to be any damage other then a scratch on the hood read more

I normally bring my lawnmower in once a year for a tuneup etc. This year I just had a new sod lawn installed on the side yard and it was going to need it's first mow soon and I wanted it to be done with a fresh new blade. So I took it down at the beginning of the week hoping to have it back by Friday. Turns out they had a 3 week wait - something I've never encountered there before. The fellow because the counter suggested I could come grab it any time while it was waiting for service so on Saturday, I was starting to get nervous about the length of growth I was getting on that new sod so I called them to see if they were open so that I could come get the mower. Turns out it was finished! Woohoo! So I ran down there and picked it up. They are such a great crew there and they try hard to keep their customers happy. My lawn is happy and so am I. read more

They have always had the latest and best equipment available for purchase and always try to put the customer needs as a priority when they bring their equipment in for service or repair. I worked there for 5 years after purchasing a couple of generators from them and felt it would be a good place to work. They have always hired staff members that knew what they were doing and trained them the right way. I took my Husqvarna weed trimmer to a local shop because it had shut off while I was using it. I wanted professionals to examine it since I didn't have the time to do it myself. The person at the counter said he would have the mechanic check it shortly. After taking it to the back, he returned and said it wouldn't be worth fixing. I took it home feeling upset. A few days later, I removed the carburetor, which was dirty, cleaned it, and the machine started right up. I am frustrated that the shop couldn't tell me they didn't have time for my equipment and instead claimed it wasn't worth fixing. It seems they were too busy and gave me a dismissive response, which is disappointing coming from professionals. read more

I bought a new Husqvarna chainsaw last July and ran it for about an hour cutting down some dead trees on my mountain property. When I got home I put it on the shelf where I've stored other chainsaws (2) I owned in the past. I always put a sheet of cardboard beneath the saws to catch the small amount of bar oil drippage, which is normal. After a few weeks had gone by, I noticed the entire piece of cardboard was soaked with oil. So, I called Elk Grove Power Equipment in Nov. and asked if it was something they could repair. The guy I spoke with told me to try running it again, but this time, loosen the oil reservoir cap after running it to release pressure. He said it was probably residual pressure in the reservoir that was pushing out the oil. So I did just that and let it sit on a clean piece of cardboard overnight. The next day there was a big oil stain on the cardboard, a much bigger stain than any of my other chainsaws would leave. I then took it in to have the leak repaired (I even took in the piece of cardboard with the oil stain to show them). They said it would take 4 weeks - no problem with me. But then I got a call a couple of weeks later, and the guy started telling me the same thing: it's normal for a chainsaw to leak a little, and I should be releasing the pressure by loosening the cap. I asked if they even bothered to open it up and look at the oil line, and the answer was no. I reminded the guy about the piece of cardboard I brought in as proof of a leak, but to no avail. In other words, they didn't believe what I told them and decided not to bother repairing the saw even though it's under warranty! I went back there and picked up the chainsaw, putting it on a piece of clean cardboard in the back of my SUV like I always do. When I got home 30 minutes later, there was a fresh new oil stain - just as I expected. What's wrong with these people? The saw was under warranty, and all the mechanic had to do was take it apart and either tighten the oil line connections or replace it altogether. So now my only option is to find another equipment repair shop certified by Husqvarna. I will also send a copy of this review to Husqvarna and ask for their advice. Attached is a photo of a piece of cardboard that the chainsaw was sitting on overnight after I brought it back from EG Power Equipment. Those folks don't know what they are talking about. read more

Worst business I have ever worked with. The owner Rick and the manager Dylan would not sell me a Toro Zero turn mower they had on their lot for sale because they wanted to mark up the price $2000 higher than one of their employees quoted me. They both therefore chose to call me names and insult me in a fashion I have never had done before. I was paying cash for the machine and I guess because I am a woman, they were choosing not to do business with me. They are waiting for their next sucker to mark the price up an additional $2000 and will not honor the price that I have a written estimate for. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone trying to work with an honorable company. Elk Grove Power Equipment is out to take advantage of their customers. I am a business woman and I am completely insulted by the way I was treated by the owner and manager of this business. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! We stopped in to look at mowers for my husband's daughter. An employee laughed as he saw my husband snapping a pic of me sitting on the nicest riding mower in the shop. He asked if we wanted to get it and we all laughed. My husband asked him about a push mower, and Dylan, a very knowledgeable employee, started sharing all the info we wanted. He was soooo informed that I asked him how long he has worked there as he knew all about the machines. He was not pushy but very easy to talk with. I have only yelped two other times (I'm 65... ugh!) but I felt a need to yelp this business. There is no such thing as customer service here. A couple of the gentlemen at the counter try to be helpful; however when there is a question they say the boss/owner has to take care of that and he isn't available right now. The boss guy never returns calls. Ended up finding another Honda generator dealer that was able to discover and repair the problem. The biggest problem is, they put me off so long, the warranty was over. They must make so much money they do not need returning customers! read more

Gentlemen at the counter took one look at our weed eater and said "we can't work on that " it's a 1 yr old craftsman walk behind weed eater and he said they can't get parts for it and plus they are too busy . I went there to have my weed eater gas hose and spark plug replaced. Simple for them, right? Because it wasn't an item they sold or carry, the declined to R&R a hose or spark plug. I have spent just shy of $4000. at Elk Grove Power Equipment over the last 18 months but my latest visit was the last. We are in the middle of a pandemic where the CDC and all state and federal guideline recommend wearing a mask to not spread the virus (especially to the more vulnerable of which I am one) but not there at Elk Grove Power Equipment. The staff is young and not one is wearing a mask or practicing social distancing. There are many competing businesses that do care about the health of their customers, so why risk going there? It really doesn't matter if it is a misguided ignorant political statement or just poor management, if you acquire the virus there you will have to live (or not live) with the consequences. read more

So needed to till my lawn of weeds. Home depot power inn is so far and this is a much closer option. They have a large selection of items for rent and attentive customer service. I had a 1000 sq ft in my backyard and maybe 1500 sq ft in my front yard. Both freshly mowed weeds after the season of April showers. I rented a maxim extra heavy rototiller. My husband and I aren't the most experienced gardeners but I found it very difficult and time consuming too use. We ended up only doing the backyard and we rented for the full day. I only managed a couple feet of tilling and I was tired. Luckily my husband managed the rest. It takes a lot of energy to keep it in place as you throttle to till. Not too mention we have clay soil topped with fresh compost. I probably would suggest not topping it with fresh compost before tilling. I thought it would work it in but it just made it harder to get to the weed portion. Should note that it just rained last Tuesday and briefly the morning we decided to do this, so the soil was soft. Also didn't know that on the bottom back part of the tiller there is a stake that you can extend down to help you hold the tiller in place... noob here. Basically not for noobies and I'd suggest that if you are going to rent one and you have clay I'd opt for a sit and ride one if that exists? If it's heavier I'd hope it actually do the work you want it too without rattling your bones. Lesson learned. read more

This place is pricey and the prices change constantly. 3 days prior to making a trip to the store to purchase a Honda generator, i had called and was given a great price over the phone. Im here now and the manager will not honor the price given to me. Now its $100 more than what he told me. Worse of all, he sells it to another guy for the same price he quoted me on the phone. What a A-hole. He said he can only do it for the other customer since he asked first. Unprofessional! They also charge a $30 fee to prep their equipment. I just wanted to say how pleased I was with the employees at Elk Grove Power Equipment. I stopped in to have my lawnmower checked out for possible warranty service. An employee did a quick diagnostic and got my lawnmower started quickly. He offered advice on how to maintain the fuel to prevent future issues and provided me with a free sample of fuel stabilizer. This is a great shop. From the owner to the sales people to the service crew. They will patiently take time with you to help you find the right piece of equipment for your needs. They neither oversell nor try to scoot you out the door. Even though I have moved from Elk Grove, I still make the 30 mile drive when I need help with mowers or yard equipment. They are listed as a Briggs warranty station, in fact, to only close one. When you call them, they say that they refuse to do any warranty parts because they don't have anybody to file the paperwork, but they will sell me the part. EXTREMELY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I would NEVER bother with them for anything. Since the equipment manufacturer and Briggs both refer you to them, and they refuse to do the work, they are worthless. DON"T USE THEM OR BRIGGS ENGINES! read more

The shop is clean and well stocked with most everything you need as far as outdoor power equipment. They advertise constantly on Craigslist, so that is how I discovered them. The guys working there are nice and helpful. The reason for the 3 stars is that their prices for certain services are not charged at all the other shops that I've been to. I purchased a gas powered lawn equipment the day of my visit and during the purchase, they clerk offered to set it up and run it for me to insure that everything is in working order. I thought that was odd and thought that was a post Covid practice. I declined because it's not rocket science to put this thing together. A couple of days later, I called about another piece of equipment and wanted to give them my business instead of "The Home Depot". They quoted me a price that was 30 dollars higher and I asked if they will match Home Depot's price. The guy on the other end said no. I then asked, why are they selling it more than MSRP? The guy said he can sell it for whatever they want. I politely agreed and ended the conversation. I ended up calling other dealers and found one that was the same price as Home Depot and another that offered the same item 20 dollars less than the box store. I ended buying it at the store that gave me the best deal and I asked about their set up fee. He said, they don't have that there and has always been included as part of their service to sell the customer a working unit when they leave their store. I was in EGPE looking at a Husqvarna zero turn mower. It was a great experience being in the store. I called back a couple days later to see if the mower I wanted to purchase was still in stock. The gentleman on the phone said it's still there. I told him I wanted to buy it, that I lived 4 miles from EGPE, and that I wanted it delivered. I also wanted the mulcher installed. He said he would have to call me back on the mulcher. Don't forget I just told him I wanted to buy the mower, and he's putting me off to call me back. I waited a couple hours and called Jade's Mower Shop in Galt. He said he could order the mower and install the mulcher and deliver it within a few days. SOLD. I got a call back about 4 hours after my initial call. He told me he didn't have the mulcher in stock and that I could get the mower and start mowing without the mulcher. I told him I just bought a mower. He did ask where I purchased it and thanked me for considering his store. i've lost patients with services these days. I would never make somebody wait that said they want to buy something. That person would be on the top of my list. I know there is a lot that goes on in a business in a day, and people at the counter are right in your face, but he just lost a sale when all he had to do was look in his inventory and tell me he didn't have a mulcher and that he would order one for me.
