Went for the first time yesterday and LOVED it. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but have no fear. It is clean inside and was very professional. The massage tables are separated by a bamboo screen, but everything is otherwise open to see. I had no idea what to expect. You walk in quietly and the owner will come get you and decide which massage you want (all in a whisper so you do not disturb any other clients.) I got the head massage - it was to die for- and a foot and body package. The foot massage was beyond fabulous and I am a foot massage snob. The body massage was a little too strong for my taste, but that was my own doing. He asked me numerous times how the pressure was, but I was dead set on getting the "authentic experience" so I told him to keep going. I will ask for lighter pressure next time for the back massage so that it is more enjoyable, but otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. I was totally zoned out during the head and foot massages. Holy Bajeebus this place is good. Looks sketchy and borderline scary on the outside but inside is pretty legit! Restroom and chairs are all clean. Environment is relaxing; staff is great and extremely professional and considerate. They got all the kinks and never hit bone, not once. I did the foot and back combo for $40 and never looked back. They even give you a survey to complete directly after and the front desk attendant went over it with me. There was only one thing i didn't like and it was the pounding of the muscles towards the end (haha i know that sounds funny but it literally happens). Ive been to 5 different foot spas throughout Houston and this would have to be my favorite! Oh they also use lotion that is sorta minty and leaves your skin feeling a little chilled but good chill. Excellent! Called an hour before and scheduled 2 massages for hubby and me. Clean. Attentive staff. Outside is on busy street but once inside didn't hear any noise from outside. Started with feet soaking in warm water while head and face were massaged. Then feet massaged. Followed by back neck, thigh and bum. Pressure was hard unless you tellvthem lighter. Not a bad spot to go that is nice and close to the Heights. Nothing is better than going to Chinatown (like Joy Reflexology and the like) but this is a very close substitute. I saw a couple reviews that said it was 'too hard'. You can just tell them to do it less if you want. Its kinda like those people who go on House Hunters and hate the house because of the paint...you can CHANGE that very easily people. Love this place been coming for awhile, good for the price and good guys that at times go the extra mile for you or help you with a problem you may have. This isn't your traditional swedish massage, its a mix of swedish and eastern type mixed, with a bit of accu-pressure and foot reflexology. My feet are so happy! And in massaging your feet certain spots of your body react, like sinuses and more. Don't forget to tip when you get a massage (any where). Some of them know how to do good hard pressure, if you need it lighter, say something they will adjust. They find the knots too and work them out like your about to bake and kneeding dough. This is the one and only place in H-Town you need to get a massage at. The prices a really cheap for the amount of time and stuff you want a massage from. The reviews don't lie - this place is amazing!! It's only Wednesday and my work week has been hella stressful. Since this spa is just a few blocks from my office, I conned a couple of girlfriends from work into checking out this place over our lunch time. While people comment that walk-ins are suggested, I called in advance just to be sure. The phone/appointment number was answered by an individual that did not announce the spa name. Pretty sure this was a cell phone or answering service as she had to call me back to confirm the appointment. Not a problem though, because they were able to take me 15 minutes after I called. The interior of the spa is very zen. The calming music and water fountain in the background really helped me clear my mind and fully relax. I opted for the $30 massage (50 minute feet/10 minute back). I've always wondered - why do they call it a foot massage??? I mean, yet, the feet do get massaged, but it's not like they spend a majority of the time on your feet. It's essentially a full body massage. Anyway - back to the massage. My masseuse used the perfect amount of pressure and got out a lot of my kinks. After the 60 minute massage, I crawled off that bed looking like I just had a nooner. Hehe....not exactly the best look to have to return to the office! After a quick make-up retouch and comb through my hair, everything was back in it's place. Ok so let me tell you about this little place. I had a headache and I'm all for holistic healing verses taking any medication . I arrived and was greeted by two men,Now at first I thought this will be a disaster because men are normally rough. To my surprise this was the best foot massage I've ever had! The guy took me to a section where I had heating pads to go under my back .He then massage my face and shoulders which felt mighty fine. He covered my eyes and torso with towels to inhance the mood so to say. Then he got to work on my feet and legs. The 50 min was pure heaven. He took his time and it was not uncomfortable at all .I'm telling you if you go ask for the bald headed guy. In the middle of a stressful week, I made an appointment based on Yelp reviews. Foot Spa didn't disappoint! When I walked in, the room was dark and quiet, lit only with soft green lamps and had calming music playing. Even though everyone is treated in the same room, it was quiet & still felt private. I asked for the reflexology and 10-minute massage ($30 total for an hour!) and couldn't have been more impressed with the service. Basically, you get a full body deep tissue massage for less than half of what you'd pay at a massage membership chain store, and the quality is above and beyond. And I'm a HUGE massage snob -- not necessarily with location/type of spa, but in the technique/pressure/areas of focus, etc. And this place knocked my socks off. The Foot Spa is incredibly clean, and has a super zen/calm atmosphere -- once inside, you'd have no idea you were in a strip center off of a busy intersection. I was greeted warmly and was taken to my massage chair right away. Unlike other places I've been, the massage recliners are separated by bamboo partitions, which adds a nice sense of privacy. They offer a variety of services, and I got a 30 minute foot massage + 30 minute back massage, for $40. Worth every penny, and then some. The guy who did my massage was amazing (and I wish I got his name!). He used deep pressure (I'm a glutton for a good deep tissue massage) and did great pressure point work. It felt so much longer than an hour, and I mean that as a huge compliment. As soon as I walked out the door, I was mentally planning my next visit back. So, in conclusion. Go. I used to be a massage therapist so I know what good touch is all about. I felt they were just digging in as hard as they could instead of meeting the muscle appropriately. I kept thinking I would say to ease up but they moved on so quickly I would just take it hoping the next spot would feel good. There were some good spots but overall rushed and too painful! Seeing all the wonderful reviews, I was certain a wonderful, relaxing experience awaited me. Boy was I wrong. The massage itself was needlessly rough, NOT in a deep tissue, getting out all the kinks way but in a ouch that really really hurt way! Not good! I kept telling the gentleman that he was hurting me but he ignoring my pleas. Pressing even harder still. Worst yet, he kept on coughing and sneezing on me. That was the last straw. I told him to stop, got dressed and left. I certainly did not want to catch what ever he had. I paid, feeling completely unsatisfied, ripped off and more stressed out than how I arrived. I was a little nervous coming in here since it's not your typical massage place. I walked in and a man greeted me asking what I wanted as he pointed to the price menu. I selected the foot and body massage for $50. He directed me to a chair that is divided by bamboo sheets so you can't see your neighbors. He showed me to soak my feet in a tub of warm water as he began to massage my head and face. After that I can't remember much since I was in complete heaven! The pressure was a little harder than usual but I actually like that. There was one time when I had to tell him it was a little hard. The techniques were also very different but your regular massage place. Nonetheless I had a great experience and I will return! Ella Foot Spa is in my neighborhood, but I didn't try it until a friend bought me a gift certificate. It is in a small space but it is quiet and a great escape from the city. For only $25, you can get a 50 minute massage. The massage is fully clothed as they will massage your head and shoulders, but then they focus on feet and ankles. They soak your feet before they message them. I paid $50 for a 60 minute massage (30 min feet massage/30 minute shoulders-back-over clothes) and I didn't find it to worth it. If I want my back massage, I want the full body massage not over clothes. However, I find the $25 massage is well worth it and a nice treat that I can afford. I recommend this spot. read more

First things first... I never write reviews unless I feel very passionate about what I'm going to say or my visit at an establishment. Jim (Manager) and David (Therapist) were both so delightful. I saw one negative review on Yelp before coming here... The yelper said it was too rough... Here's the deal, these guys have some strong hands, so just say you want medium strength. You can always ask them to increase intensity later. I did the body+reflexology package ($50/60 minutes). Here's how it went: -Started on lounge type bed in main room, feet in hot (not too hot) water, laying on back. -David started with sinuses and scalp, next it was neck and arms, then on to feet and legs. -The reflexology bit was perfect, not too hard like I've had in the past, but also not too soft that it tickled. After this I thought for sure I was done as it felt like I was being rubbed for an eternity. -We moved one room over to a massage bed, face down. This is where the "body" part came in. It was a full body massage under a towel and fully clothed. There was stretching, pushing, kneading, and shaking of larger muscle groups. Always asking if pressure was okay. After he was done I sat up my back popped more than it has in a long time. You should know it is a little out of the ordinary being in one large room with bamboo shades between you and the other guests. Everyone was generally very quite, you could hear the staff filling up water buckets (actually relaxing) and hear the credit card machine when people checked out (great way to practice mindfulness). Go in with an open mind, definitely get a package, be upfront with your communication about pressure and you won't be disappointed! So glad this place is here and so close to home. I'm on my feet 60+ hours a week and Jim and his staff are going to fix my achy body one visit at a time! read more

I read the Yelp reviews before going in for the first time. As another reviewer said, it's on a busy street but inside it's tranquil & quiet. The atmosphere was appropriate. I love that it's reasonably priced & not pretentious. I found it to be clean & professional (I didn't use the ladies room). I asked for a 1 hour foot reflexology, a face & scalp massage. Total cost $45 +$10 tip. What a deal! The foot massage was awesome, A++. The scalp massage I'd say was ok B (My stylist does an amazing job shampooing ...so naively, I was looking for that which isn't possible when your hair/scalp are dry), the face massage was good, B+. David also worked on my calves, and spent some time on my neck & legs. He applied the right amount of pressure in order to work on some tight tissue on my IT band. If you have ever done Airrosti, you know what I mean. If you aren't looking for that, just let them know to go easy when they hit a tender spot. I personally don't always know i have a knot until someone starts to work on it. Tension can build up on the face too...wow. I came here for a 1 hour foot massage & was pleased with the extras i added on too. I'm definitely coming back. Remember, it's not a full service luxury SPA, so keep your expectations reasonable. This spa is very professional and nice staff but while I was there, the next door business had a karaoke of some sort after 6 and made my massage stressful and noisy. I love this place. The parking isn't great, and the interior isn't fancy, BUT the people that work there are so nice, very professional and do an amazing job. I have often called minutes ahead and they are able to take me, and most of all when I leave I really feel better. Love this place. Have to admit I jave tried others, lots of others and I always wish I would have just stuck with ELLA. Happy to jave found them and visit a lot. I like the combo that is 30/40 mins so 70mins total.
