I usually have a really nice time here, but my recent visit was disappointing. I came in looking for some relief for my neck and back. I paid for the baby back massage which is supposed to be 30 minutes of back and shoulders and 30 minutes everywhere else. I ended up getting an hour long massage on my head, hands, and feet with about 5 minutes on my back. I usually enjoy this place so I'm not sure what happened. Disappointing when you pay for a service and don't get what you signed up for. read more

I'm giving a 2 star because I didn't feel very welcome at all.. I had a 6:15 appointment. The lady at the front desk asked me to pay before going to get my massage. I've never had to do this anywhere else. She goes to the back and returns n asks if I'm okay with a male masseuse. I said sure. She tells me to follow her and everyone comes from the back and watches as I walk in behind her, a lady masseuse is staring at me like she's never seen an African American woman that was 5'10 i guess thats tall. Idk why everyone needed to watch me get seated in the massage room. I felt very uncomfortable and like I was being treated differently. I won't be back here unfortunately, because I think his name was John, did a good job. I even asked her to scan my card again when leaving to add additional tip for the masseuse. I have been coming to Midtown Reflexology for years. The atmosphere is very relaxing. They offer individual rooms, and double rooms as well if you are with a friend. They always try their best to accommodate the timing you have available, which I appreciate so much.. as everyone is so busy these days. I always appreciate a reflexology massage, and Midtown does a great job of paying attention to where you need specific pressure or more time. This place is great! And for the lady who said she felt violated... you should let them know your insecurities before doing into a massage. I've had massages and tons of different places and went to school for massage. It's very normal for them to lift up the blanket over their own faces to ensure it gets laid down properly on your body and out of their way on whatever area they are going to be working on next. Seriously high-quality foot spa techniques from Jimmy and Lisa. Jimmy was who I got when I requested someone "strong", and Lisa was who Misti got when she requested someone "regular". Both are top tier qualified and competent, and we would request them by name in a heartbeat! Our massages were as good as the very best we've had in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. If I were hiring for a new foot spa in Houston I would totally try to poach Jimmy and Lisa! Very friendly scheduling manager with a pleasant phone demeanor made the appointment process easy and clear. Clean towels, and a standard group/warehouse style environment with dim (but not creepy) lighting - very West Coast. Completely fine by me for $40/hour. We've been coming here for the last couple of years. Making a reservation is easy and they will put couples in the same room if possible/requested. The massages are performed on comfy chairs which go completely flat. The quality of these massages varies a bit over the different therapists but all are pretty good and the treatment/routine is very similar. They will adjust the intensity if you ask for it. This place is the bomb. I'm a circus instructor so I train very intensely. Needless to say my body is always beat up & very achey & tense. I got the 60 minute sole 2 sole massage & it was amazing. My masseuse was not afraid to really get deep & work out my knots. He also frequently asked if the pressure was ok, if I was comfortable, etc. The environment is super clean, modern, & relaxing. Everyone stuck right to schedule. My massage started right at 10:00am & lasted the entire hour with my masseuse only leaving the room for a few seconds to grab hot stones & hot towels. By the time my masseuse left for me to get dressed, it was 10:55am. I really appreciate the prompt timing because I had to go to work right after at 12:00pm. I left feeling like a new woman. I had a nasty knot in my right shoulder that was totally dissolved after my session. I'm going to start make bi-weekly trips to Midtown Reflexology. I couldn't recommend them enough. read more

I was soooo impressed. I honestly just wanted to get s foot massage and literally got a full body massage for $40 and it was a good one at that. I was 40 weeks pregnant and desperate to get the baby out of me. My chiropractor recommended I get some footwork done so I gave it a try. While it did not induce labor, it did put me into a state of deep relaxation and loosen up some of my muscle. My masseuse was very professional. He used deep but comfortable pressure. He did one limb at a time and kept me covered. The massage starts with a warm foot soak that is soothing as well. The setting is very clean, very organized. The set up is four massage chairs to an open area, but no one was grunting or moaning during my session so I can't say if it was distracting or not. I felt comfortable the entire time. Bring a cash tip and expect to tip approximately 10-15-20 dollars depending on your service. It's really really worth it! read more

For the last few weeks I've been having reoccurring pain in my feet, a coworker suggested checking out Midtown Reflexology. The location is directly across from the AIG building on Waugh. Layout was fresh, inviting and professional --that really helps a first timer. After checking the selections I decided on 1 hour massage/reflexology combo. I was directed to a private room with an adjustable chair that was actually more comfortable then it looked. The process started with a foot soak followed by head, neck and shoulder massage...so far so good! The reflexology segment was detailed and with firm direct pressure. Overall, it was immediately evident that the tension in my feet was reduced, I could stand without having to shift my weight! Most definitely worth the price --I'm gonna be back for sure! read more

I've gone here a few times over the year and the therapist was great that I went to. But one day I accidentally left my anniversary necklace (worth over $1,000) in the tray. I didn't notice until I made it home that I left the necklace and called to tell them that I forgot it in the room. A lady that works the front desk answered the phone said she would have a look and call me in an hour. Never received a call, so I drove there to see if I could take a look myself. The lady that I spoke to said she looked for it said that they couldn't locate the necklace and really gave a "I don't really care" attitude about trying to find it while I was there. I told her that the necklace was really important to me and that it was really expensive (which kinda lit a fire under her ass), but she still gave me the same answer. So I told her that either 1) people that work there stole it or 2) someone who used the room after me stole it and if she could take a really good look again. The girl said she would call me by the end of the week to let me know if they found it (which she never did). I know it was mostly my fault for leaving the necklace in the first place but as a establishment I feel like they dropped the ball for not inspecting the room after I left to alert me that I left it. Which makes me think that someone stole it. And after my husband went back after a week since I didn't hear back from anyone, the same girl gave an attitude to him and said "she already came here last week and we told her we didn't have it". I'm really sad to leave a review like this but as a warning to anyone that goes here, please DO NOT take anything of value to this establishment, or double check that you didn't leave anything... because you will NEVER see it again, and the workers will be too lazy to actually look for it. I have been going here for about 10 years and love the service and staff!!! First thing you do is lay on a comfy recliner (leave clothes on) & put your feet in warm water. They put a soft big blanket over you & massage your neck, arms, shoulders, legs, back and feet. Soft music, low lighting and ocean sounds are so relaxing. You are in an area with about 5 other recliners but everyone is polite and It is quiet. It's such a treat to go here. read more

How do you come out of a massage with neck pain? By having a masseuse who instead of massaging is pinching your skin, not only that, leaving my wet feet exposed so that I feel cold and uncomfortable while he walks out for several minutes even after he returns he tries to pull the cover off my feet, which is still wet and feels cold. I've been going here for years, although infrequently, I've always been impressed with all my massages until today. I won't name his name, but he needs more training. I've been a long time customer of this facility but I must say that I'm so disappointed in the owner. I'm not sure if this place changed ownership or what, because I always had a good experience before. I go there to find peace, quiet and relaxation. The owner talks loud and laughs hard with customers at the front desk. I could hear it all. When I complained about that, I was told that then, I need to request a room on the other side, away from front desk. That is where I was put yesterday, but there is a restaurant next door, and I could hear people talking, and banging a door/wall. When I called the owner this morning (Lee), to let him know of the problem. He said that I don't need to tell him how to run his business, because he doesn't tell me how to run mine. All I was doing was letting him know of an issue with his business that is affecting the results of what he's offering. I have never been before to a massage/reflexology place, where they didn't respect clients this way, and realizing that part of their service is to have a relaxed, quiet atmosphere. He never even apologized once, for laughing and talking so hard while I was receiving service. This shows the little business mentality this owner has. Think twice before you spend your money here. The last thing you will have is peace and quiet. I am frankly shocked at the poor business mentality of the owner, not only after the things he said to me on the phone today, but his horrible UNTRUE comments on answer! How can I cause stress when I ask to be put in a room where there won't be any loud talking or banging! That is so wrong! This is a massage place! He himself talks loud and laughs loud at front desk! He has no excuse, so for him the offense is the best defense! He doesn't understand what a customer is, and what customer service is! The interior is dark and ultra clean and you drift off to soothing ambient music playing softly in the background. The specialty is pressure points on your feet and hands, but you also receive a cranial, neck, back, shoulders, legs, and arms massage. In essence, a fully clothed body massage, with special attention to your appendages. $35/hour, as noted by the other reviewers, is quite reasonable, especially for this area. I also like not having to drive all the way out to Bellaire for a reflexology experience that might be $10-$15 cheaper, but might be just like Suzanne G. described in her review. Every masseuse I've been assigned to at MR has been great to fantastic. I've always left more relaxed than upon arrival. The lemongrass lotion they use is pleasant smelling, yet somehow not greasy or overpowering, so you can leave without feeling like you need to immediately go and wash off. This is a doubleplusgood because they offer a weekday Happy Hour special of 30 minutes for $20 from 10AM-2PM. So if you're having a stressful workday, you can get some tension relief on your lunch hour and still have time to hop over to Whole Foods across the street for some grub, before returning to the office. In sum, highly recommended.
