So when we were planning a family trip recently, I remembered that and I was amazed to see that she was still in business and offering the same tour. I immediately signed all seven of us up. We were fortunate enough to go on the tour on a gorgeous spring day when it was warm enough for many bayou alligators to come out. We were also fortunate that Isabelle herself happened to be our tour guide/driver. So it's not surprising that we had a wonderful experience. But to me, the most impressive thing is that Isabelle has managed to keep her company going for 46 years through very tough times like Katrina in 2005 and then the disastrous Covid era. Now that I've finally met her, I think I see how she has survived. First, she has SO much in-depth knowledge of the area based on her experience, intellect, and personal connections. Second, she's warm and approachable (see attached photo), even posting her phone number on her toursbyisabelle.com website. Finally, there's a core of inner strength and decency - so all in all, I believe that this remarkable woman represents the best in American entrepreneurship.

Seems like there are several options for swamp tours but THIS is the one I highly recommend, and so happy I ended up with. As a solo traveler, I booked this one mainly because I was seeking hotel pick-up and a help with securing a small group airboat booking. Glad I did it- I received texts prior and day-of to ensure I was clear on pick-up and logistics. Driver was Dexter who was efficient with pick-up of all those in our group. Upon arrival, everything went smoothly with check-in (getting waivers signed, assigning you to specific airboats via kitschy-sounding "boarding pass" names). These guys are pros for sure, and "family-owned" you can tell throughout the establishment and workings (including their house cat who roams the premises, ha!) We were able to survey the shop/merch, decor, and had fangirl moment when we encountered the founder, Randy, who was so kind and happily took photos with us. The tour itself was so fun/exciting. You get it all- history of the swamp (including flora/fauna), Q&A re: alligators, alligator sightings, high-speed airboat treks, list goes on. Our operator was Dalton who was AMAZING. It is at times funny, heartbreaking, salacious, and always fascinating. Quinn does a beautiful job of presenting both the autonomy sex work gave women as well as the abuse and legal ramifications. The discussion about the queer and trans community is both inspiring and heartbreaking, especially when discussing the danger and abuse that the community faces. Quinn clearly has a passion for this topic and has researched it. If you are not interested in learning about this community, don't go on the tour. It's not just a funny, sarcastic, playful experience, although Quinn is all those things. She does have great style and makes the tour enjoyable. It is also a thoughtful, well curated discussion about sex workers, women and the queer community. You will leave Quinn more informed about New Orleans.

Basically I'm telling you, I could not walk my way out of a paper bag. So when the boy surprised me with an impromptu trip to New Orleans for my birthday we spent our first day wandering the streets with no real places to go. Sure it's a wonderful city but we had a limited amount of time, places to go, and most importantly things to eat. It was time to call in the professionals. I emailed Le Monde Creole at 2 am in the morning to book a two and half hour tour of the city. Yeah it's touristy, but I highly suggest taking a walking tour. This trip helped us take in the culture better and also plan the rest of our trip there! I could not be happier with our host Bill, a local with a knack for storytelling. His musical, lilting voice took us into the story of the a Creole French family in the 19th century. Let me tell you, this is no American Girl story. The Lacoul Family had everything you could ever want: sex, intrigue, violence and scandal! I held on to every single word. For a girl who was diagnosed with ADD by a psychic at her high school graduation (another story, another day) this is quite the feat. I highly, highly recommend this tour. Besides the story you will also get to check out some private New Orleans courtyards (including one where an American Horror Story scene was filmed!), cemeteries (and see the NIcholas Cage future burial place), pharmacies, houses, etc!

Wish he would have projected more. Thought about just doing the walk through the cemetery on our own- but I'm glad we took a tour because we learned about the burial rituals, architecture of the city, history, and facts about Marie Laveau. After the cemetery portion, we took a break at the visitor's center where we were able to grab a drink and have a bathroom break which was nice. George then pointed out on a map the geography of New Orleans and talked a little about Katrina, which was a nice addition to the tour. I was a little disappointed with the voodoo portion. George talked a little at the visitors center about voodoo, and warned us that we we going to Priestess Miriam's shop ( a voodoo priestess), and that sometimes she speaks about voodoo, and other times she is way off topic, and can ramble on and on about whatever. He was right! A lovely woman- but a bit of a wacko.. she spoke nothing about voodoo. She went on and on about how far our country has come, a funeral she went to in another city, and where everyone was from, but nothing about voodoo. We did get to see her "office" where she does readings and that was pretty cool I guess. She was sweet.. but dang! I wanted some voodoo info! All in all- nice tour. Glad we did it.

He told my sister that he could and would kick her off the tour. Congratulations you did just that but now I hope everyone will never buy for this tour group again. Ren was an excellent tour guide who showed us hidden gems (including great bars) around the French Quarter. I highly recommend Ren, and also suggest taking Segway tours in the morning. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!
