I received the worst customer service experience today at Dr. Sloas' office. I had scheduled an appointment for my daughter over a month back for today November 25th at 11 AM. I never got a confirmation about the appointment, so I was confused about the date and time. I called last week multiple times and they won't answer any phone calls or return voice mails. I finally asked to talk to a manager at Costco and I was directed to Paul, the assistant service manager in Costco. I explained to him how it was impossible to get hold of anyone at the optometrist's office. He walked down there personally and asked them to call me, as I had been calling to ask for my appointment details. A girl from that office finally called me and told me that my daughter's appointment was scheduled for Monday, November 25th at 11. I asked her why they weren't answering phones Or returning voice mails? She goes because the phone was not working. I asked her why wasn't the phone working.....she goes, how do I know? I am not the phone company!! I asked her if that's how she usually talked to customers and that was extremely rude. So today I was there at 10:50 am with my daughter for her appointment at 11 AM. The first girl told me there was no appointment scheduled. I asked her that was not possible. Now, the other girl told that my daughter's appointment had been cancelled. I was shocked and so angry. I asked them why was it canceled? She goes because I didn't give my credit card number to reserve the appointment . I told her no one asked me for my credit card number ever. How am i supposed to know to give the credit card number? The doctor came out and he tells me it isn't their fault. I should have given a credit card number. I again repeated that no one ever asked me for it. They told me I could come at 12:30 for an appointment. By this time, I was done and so was my daughter. She said mom, please let's just schedule an eye exam somewhere else. I agreed and walked out. I still wanted to talk to the assistant manager Paul about this horrible experience. Paul was extremely busy, but he called Tarra, another service manager to help me. I told her the entire story. She went down to talk to them and got me the appointment for 12:30, which I didn't want with this facility anymore, but I just wanted eye glasses urgently for my daughter so took this appointment. Tarra came to look for me and asked me if I could show her a log of my phone calls to Costco, as the staff at the optometrist's office told her that I had never called to make an appointment. . I showed her my call log and I also found the text they had sent 2 days back to say my appointment was for November 25th at 11 am. she took a screen shot with her phone and went down to show it to them. Within 5 minutes I got a call that the doctor was done early and he could see us now. I went down with my daughter. The doctor says to me with a smile.....see, it's all settled now. literally no regret, no apology for how they treated me. I told him that I was extremely upset and I had absolutely nothing else to say and I just needed my daughter's eye appointment to be done. I asked the name of the girls who treated me so rudely. One said her name was Vanessa. The other said she didn't have to give me her name. If I am to guess, I would say her name was Marie, the same girl who canceled my appointment for calling her out on her rude behavior on the phone. It is so shameful that these people have their office in such a wonderful business like Costco. I really hope Costco reads my review and is aware of this experience. read more

Dr. Sloas is a no nonsense doc. He knows his stuff, and never leaves me waiting. I was able to see him same day recently, for an emergency eye appointment. His staff is friendly and sweet; taking the time to explain things in an uncomplicated manner. I highly recommend his practice. read more

I called in to make an appointment with the doctor on Monday and was able to get an appointment on the same week on Friday. The front desk girl was very friendly and knowledgeable. She had me on the machine for a short while to take some printout measurements. Since this was my second time here, I was sending to the doctor right away without filling out a bunch of paperwork. Dr. Elliott remember me right away, from last year appointment. He was clear and thorough. He also had me on the machine to verify the measurements the front desk girl gave to him. He told me to go see the glaucoma specialist again this year and ask if I want the progressive lens since I'm nearsighted and I couldn't see up close at the same time. That was it. This has been my practice of choice for many years, and the doctor has been good. Easy to schedule, pleasant to deal with, and the price is fair. However, I can't say any of that matters based on my most recent interaction with the office. I have seasonal eye allergies that are horrible during spring. This is something that was brought up on my last visit, and the doctor even provided a free sample. When I called in to ask for an RX to help my eyes, I was told I needed to book an appointment and pay $75. When you have a long-term established relationship and diagnosis, charing someone for simple allergy medication is a poor reflection of how the provider chooses to manage their practice. Request for a call back from the doctor led to none. I will be taking my eye care elsewhere since money seems to be Dr. Sloas' only motivation. read more

Wow, my appointment here today was a breeze! Like the other reviews claim, Dr. Sloas and IS AMAZING. He also has a wonderful front desk woman who is adept and friendly. She patiently showed me how to apply my new contacts with ease. I was surprised by the smoothness of the paperwork and exam. Dr. Sloas is an approachable professional who clearly takes pride in his expertise and office. The process only took about 20 minutes. Overall, 10/10. I didn't know an eye exam could be this easy-peasy. Take note folks! read more

I've been going to the eye doctor for about 20 years and for 20 years I DREAD going to the eye doctor. I decide to get my exam w/ Dr. Sloas at Costco. BEST DECISION EVER. I got an appointment the next day, it didn't break the bank AND the doctor was clear, precise, quick and thorough. I don't prefer to have my eyes dilated because it's annoying and I had to drive home so I had the option of having the same exam done but with a camera for $15 extra. This was my best eye experience ever! read more

Worst Doctor that ever had..I went for contact lenses..my prescription is very high..told him since the beginning..he rushed my exam (not even 15 minutes) when he changed my prescription so I can read better..I noticed that I couldn't see anything from the distance..I went back and the staff was so lost..he was upset because I explained him that I couldn't see.his response was is nothing I can do.. because you didn't like them you willl have to go back to your old prescription..I spent 136.00 for NOTHING..his attitude was so rude..NEVER AGAIN.. read more

I don't know anything about the Park Ave office, but I can vouch for the quality of people whom she has representing her** Dr Sloas is the eye doctor inside the Costco on University. My daughter had an appointment today and was seen by Dr. Joelle Rodriguez, who was very warm, kind, and professional. Price is reasonable: $60 for a basic eye exam for glasses (I think it's $50 for contact lens exam). There is an additional $16 charge if you want to have a retinal picture taken, which (my understanding) is recommended if you have a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration. So, still, $76 for a total eye exam isn't bad, considering I have no insurance. The office is small but very clean and professional. The equipment that Dr. Rodriguez used was super modern and I was impressed, having been going to the eye doctor all of my life and remembering how clunky things used to be. I let the doctor know that we were going to use the prescription from her to get kiddo's glasses from zenni optical online and she said "sure, great! here's all the info the'll ask for (pointing to different places on the print out form) and you'll be all set!". I am definitely coming here for my overdue eye exam! read more

One of the most unprofessional doctor visits I've had in quite some time. The use of profanity with the receptionist concerning insurance issues. Came out and voices concerns about not being paid from an insurance company that I had nothing to do with. I was told that they accepted my eye insurance more than once before I actually came in for the visit and during a visit they had authorization from my insurance company. I quote " it's not my fault they're not paying me so I can accept your insurance and stated that my insurance would only pay $44 . But in actuality they paid the full bill with only a $10 co-pay. read more

Unlike my previous eye checkup at Lenscrafters where I waited several hours and got ripped off at the same time, Dr. Solas had me in and out within 30 mins. All fees are clearly labeled (16 for digital optical pictures) and they can email it to you. I've been going here for several years. Had to stop one year due to an insurance company switch at my workplace, have regretted it to this day! His website is also updated fairly regularly from what I can tell - it has current hours and accepted insurance companies. Highly recommended. Tip: if you switch between his two offices, make sure you explicitly ask which one you're scheduling for! read more

Dr. Sloas is AMAZING. Absolutely the best eye doctor we have ever used. My astigmatism is so shockingly awful that most eye doctors aren't sure what to do to make my vision clear. He immediately knew how to help, and did. When they put my new glasses on me the first time, I actually cried in the middle of the store because I hadn't ever experienced truly clear vision before. My youngest son also has serious vision issues, and his previous eye doctor gave him WAY too much correction, resulting in constant headaches, and even more blurry vision than before. Dr. Sloas fixed this issue for my baby without me even having to explain, and he wears his glasses ALL THE TIME and is happy to do so! Most recently, we took my father- in- law to see him because his vision became blurry suddenly, and once again, Dr. Sloas knew immediately what was wrong, and gave us a workable solution. Dr. Sloas is also confident without being arroagnt, and has an incredibly helpful and friendly staff. We are SO grateful to have found him! read more

I am very unsatisfied with my past visit. I had my eyes checked/fitted for both glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Rodriguez told me that my eye's "Got better" when telling me that my prescription had changed. This was very false- The contacts and glasses that she prescribed for me gave me a headache for 4 days and were blurry because they were too weak. What was supposed to be a 2 time visit (get eyes checked, and pick up glasses a week later) turned into a 7 time visit. Absolutely ridiculous. I had to keep returning to get new "tester" contacts, exchange contacts I had already purchased that were now wrong prescription, pick up glasses, test those, return them to be sent out again, and am now waiting another week before they are done- and praying that they are right this time! VERY inconvenient, and very unsure why she would give me a weaker prescription than I was previously wearing. Makes zero sense. I inquired about a $ return for the eye exam and was told that isn't allowed because they spent time examining my eyes. Ummm... I spent MORE time and gas going back and forth from my house and Costco than they did on my eyes. Very pour service, and very unhappy. Dr was very nice during exam, but clearly they are very "black and white" and don't know when good customer service should be given to rectify a bad situation. read more

An addition to my review of 10/23/2015. After the fiasco of traveling 50 miles round trip and being told my husband's appointment was at the Winter Park Costco, another appointment was scheduled for 10/27/2015 at the South Orland (Waterbridge) Costco. I received a call on 10?26?2015 reminding me of the appointment, and at that t was assured that the appointment was at that location. As we prepared to travel the 25 miles there, I received a call from the receptionist asking why my husband was coming to see Dr. Rodriguez, that she had already prescribed the contacts and an appointment was no longer needed. I explained that he was coming there for a post op cataract exam. The receptionist talked to Dr. Rodriguez, came back to the phone and repeated this. Again I insisted that this was needed, so she asked me to speak to Dr. Rodriguez. This led to no resolution, because Dr. R insisted that this was not on my husband's record, and she continually repeated that she "had no memory of this." No apology again, just insisting that the patient was again in error. My husband and I both remember clearly asking her if she would do the post op, and were told yes. We even discussed her sending a note to our dr. In Virginia to this effect, but her only defense was that she had no memory of this. My question at that time was then why were we asked to make an appointment with her? Then came the defense that she was an optometrist and was not qualified to do this post op exam. Our eye surgeon in Virginia, assured us that we could go to an optometrist for this service since it would be simply looking at the eye and seeing it if was healing. If she was not qualified, we do not understand why we were told yes and then told no. Perhaps my frustration was also fueled by the incorrect location of our appointment last week. (When I mentioned this to Dr. R, she simply said this happens quite frequently......unbelievable) Be forewarned, go to this office only as a last resort! read more

Next time you choose to put someone on hold and Ridicule them, make sure your receptionist actually puts that person on hold. I heard your whole conversation.
