One of the best meals I've had in years. I had the sashimi and tomato burrata salad. Everything was perfect.

Let me start by saying that this has always been one of my top 3 restaurants in town and we do eat here somewhat regularly. I pretty much always order a martini as my cocktail and have always had a great drink. Today when I received my Sutlers Martini up it came in a glass that was only half filled and that was with three olives in it. I asked our server who was new and she said the bar did a "standard 2 oz pour" and there was nothing she could do. Having myself been a bartender AND having had my share or martinis at other restaurants, I can tell you that "standard" is two jiggers (3 oz) and most places will put in enough to make the glass reasonably full. The bar manager did come by and told the same story about strictly measuring two oz. I said this will be the last time I order a cocktail there. He did bring me another oz and added it to my glass but I should not have had to go through this exchange to get a proper drink. We were supposed to go back there in a week but are going to Ironwood instead. Food at Elliot's is better but Ironwood knows how to make a proper martini. Elliot's is in the penalty box for a few months or until they get a new bar manager that has a focus on return business and not maximizing profits on a single cocktail. read more

Excellent food, excellent service, very good facility, and overall delightful. Elliot's did not disappoint. Our service was prompt, knowledgeable, and had very good suggestions. The facility was very clean and well kept. Our silverware was changed with each course- classy. The food was splendid. I've read reviews complaining about prices, and while it's true main courses are high $20s to mid $40s, they were worth every dollar-- one receives what one pays for and we received plenty of culinary delights: scallops and succotash, peach prosciutto salad, lamb, and filet finished with maple crème brûlée (see photos). All were flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and well presented. The wine selection was plenteous and we enjoyed a selection, surprisingly from Uruguay. We highly recommend this establishment! read more

Fabulous dinner last night and Ashley rocked-perfect amount of attention paid to us but never hovering. We started with crab hushpuppies to accompany our cocktails, a beer for my husband and Sidecar for me. Dinner for me was the Lamb Wellington and my husband had the Striped Sea Bass with Lobster Bisque Risotto. A side of country mash was enjoyed by us both! We really enjoyed the food. They do have some gluten friendly options. The service however wasn't the best. Not sure if they were having an off night but we had two different servers; they didn't seem to be communicating well with each other one took our order the other came back a few minutes later to take our order again. We waited about an hour for our food. It was surprising because we've heard so many good things. read more

I've tried to stay loyal. Been going here for 15 years. Still enjoy the food, although it's not what it used to be. But the bar staff lack joy and the ability to handle a busy night. Definitely seem annoyed if you ask for utensils or anything for that matter. The ladies who play manager are snobbish and preoccupied. read more

Overall, food was delicious. The biscuits are complimentary and have a bit of a kick to them. The tuna tartar had a tangy sauce which fit the fish very well. The mozzarella was pretty standard. The salmon smelled and tasted a bit fishy, so it wasn't super fresh. The salad underneath it was also pretty sour and the potatoes were quite measly. The sauce tasted good though. The goat cheesecake was very unique. It definitely tasted like goat cheese, but much more mild and slightly sweet. read more

Had a fabulous dinner here while on a day trip to Pinehurst. The highlights were the mac and cheese and the cheddar/chive biscuits, but we loved all of it -- the filet, the halibut, the tuna starter, a delicious Manhattan, and the sticky toffee dessert. The servers are well trained and know a lot about the menu. We ate outside and enjoyed a beautiful summer night in North Carolina. This is the kind of restaurant that you can tell truly cares about making fabulous food and takes pride in its food, staff, and facilities. There are nice touches like upscale hand wash and lotion in the bathroom -- things that restaurants don't have to do, but it's so nice when they do. The bar part of the restaurant, the Roost, looks like a great place to grab a drink or two and some light bites. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

Great atmosphere, it's quiet enough you can have a conversation and not have to talk over the noise level. Food was good, I had the NY strip but didn't care for the rub or sauce on the steak. It was too sweet, it paired well with the potatoes but on the steak it was just unappetizing. My husband had the elk and it was perfect. Our server was very attentive and very kind. My gals and I went here for supper, our waitress, Daphne, was fantastic! For starters we ordered crab hush puppies, and the shrimp baguette apps which were amazing!!! Then we split the elk chops and he pork schnitzel that was Devine!! However the potatoes that came with the elk and mixed veggies under the schnitzel were voted our least favorite. Our sub side for that was the truffle Mac and cheese and the French fries and they were also very tasty! We will definitely be coming back! read more

We had a fantastic dinner at Elliotts! Our service was amazing (we loved Mackenzie!) and the food ranks among the best we have had. OUTSTANDING We chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary on the suggestion of a local friend and are so glad we did! We came in early in the evening as Manager Nick was finishing up a staff meeting. I was impressed by his enthusiastic "pregame" review of some new wines he had recently brought in. We were promptly seated and greeted by server Ben. I took a while to peruse the fabulous wine list. Noticing this, Ben asked Nick to stop by our table to discuss their offerings and he took us on a tour of the wine cellar. His knowledge of all things grape was obvious. We made a selection and returned to our table to enjoy the amazing pork belly and scallop appetizer. We had the duck and elk respectively. Both were absolute show stoppers!!! We even splurged and throughly enjoyed the creme brûlée (best I've ever had). Although this incredible establishment is over an hour away from our home; we plan to make future pilgrimages here to enjoy the great service and truly remarkable fare! read more

EOL has disarming charm from the moment you walk in. Starting with the wine menu, I was surprised they had a rose that was an Italian Montepultiano! I love intrigue & adventure in food - GAME ON! The vino smells & flavors of rose's .....weird & wonderful! For appetizers we shared the octopus which was lovely ( not chewy as most prepare it) and the scallops that were "truffle dusted" ... simply amazing & perfectly done. Main course was Lamb which mine was perfect & my husband's was chewy (not the chef's fault, it was not overdone, meat was just a lower quality... but they graciously exchanged his for fillet mignon at no cost. This place is a real gem. After spending 12 years of my life living in Germany & Italy , I got the weird feeling I was back but everyone was speaking English! Lol. First let me say the food is phenomenal, all four people in my party loved all of the things we tried. We did the scallops and the crab hushpuppies as our starters and they were both incredibly delicious. The chicken and waffles were amazing too. The beef stroganoff special was good, but would have loved to have it on noodles. The two stars are due to poor service. The first round of drinks came 22 mins after we ordered them. The manhattans did not have any garnishes in them. The second round we ordered took just as long and we were given eagle rare neat not a Manhattan. The dirty martini, also lacked the olives that should have accompanied it. Our main course took about an hour after ordering to come out. For a $500 tab, the service was lackluster and absolutely disappointing. I would also add that maybe the wait staff needs more training on what to do if they spill a drink in someones lap. read more

Elliot's on Linden is a quaint restaurant that offers a chefs touch to a menu. It is located a little off the beaten path of Pinehurst but offers an alternative to the Pinehurst Inn at the country club. I started with a unique old fashioned that used rum for the sweetener and a bourbon . I had the truffle scallops (who would have thought about truffle shavings on Scallops!) and a New York strip with garlic cloves on the side. The special for the evening was a halibut that was absolutely delicious! For desert apple crisp. The only criticism is that there could have been just a bit more ice cream on the crisp. Service was excellent! The service was prompt but I was not rushed at all during the meal and food was served with appropriate pauses to enjoy the meal. The wine list is extensive from table wines to Opus Cabs that can satisfy every taste as well as budget. Parking is a little bit of a pain. An Ingrate did not pull up into the parking spot with a large truck trapping me with multiple 1' Y turns to wiggle out of the spot. So the parking lot can get tight and large vehicles can compound the problem. I had a very enjoyable evening and would certainly eat here again the next time I am in Pinehurst. It is certainly an alternative to the Carolina Inn that has not changed the menu in years. read more

We had a marvelous experience here! The coconut curry soup special was incredible... I'm going to try to replicate it at home! I had the salmon entrée. The waiter said it's been a mainstay on the menu since the restaurant was founded 20 years ago, and I definitely see why! It was so good. I got a flatter piece of salmon, which was perfect, as I prefer my salmon cooked medium/medium well. My dining partner had the filet. It had great flavor and came with a really delicious gruyere black truffle mac and cheese. We will definitely be returning!! I only have two minor negative comments. My first is that the service was slow. The second was that the steak wasn't quite as hot as it probably should have been. That being said, I did overhear a little panic amongst the wait staff... it seemed as though a very large party had come in unexpectedly and the kitchen was thrown into a tizzy. As such, I'm not willing to dock a star... the quality of the food completely outweighed these couple complaints. read more

Due to us being seated in a very small table within the bar area that felt very small and crowded, we knew we wouldn't have been able to enjoy our evening. We did make a reservation and when asked about an alternative table the person only replied that they were fully booked. We would have been happy to wait for a better table. For a restaurant like this it's unfortunate they offer these tables as options for guest and suggest they either get ride of them or just offer them as bar seating options. This used to be one of our favorite places but since our last visit AND that a previous review was removed, we will not be going back. We went for my husband's bday and from a salad which we both had it was downhill. The salad was BEET SALAD WITH ARUGULA. There was a nice amount of Arugula but 4 or 5 SMALL pieces of Beets. I told the waitress it should be called ARUGULA salad with BEETS..Then the entre... I had a Black ink squid pasta dish , the pasta was beyond al dente . I was told it would be a little more tough because of the ink, but it was not to my liking. My husband tried the Elk and found it too spicy. I tasted it and felt it was over salted. Also, they have gotten too expensive not to have enjoyed what we ordered. We were also placed in an alcove and felt shut away from the other patrons. read more
