Dollar wings on Sunday! Stout bbq and hot buffalo. Delicious

Dollar wings and cold brew, can't ask for anything more! The service was polite and fast, and the lighting was very moody and relaxed. Loved it!

    Good beer

Saturday afternoon with our pups. Here is what we liked. * Beer, food and dog friendly!! * Oktoberfest beer was cold and good. * service was amazing, attentive, friendly, helpful and really dog friendly. * Pizza crust was so good. What could of been better: * The fried pickle and pepper appetizer was good but the breading was just a bit mushy and not as crisp as we would have liked. Overall, we knew we were going to be in the area and called ahead to ensure they were dog friendly. We were not disappointed- dog friendly was an understatement. Had good beer and food and enjoyed are visit. Will stop again.

    12" Margherita Pizza

This was my second visit to Ellison in a week if that says anything. My first visit, I had the Margherita pizza which was pretty good - My second visit, I had the mushroom Swiss burger and absolutely devoured it. I don't now what their using for their beef patties but probably the best I've had around the area in a long time. We also got the cheese bread and added their house made jalapeño jam. GET IT! When you walk in, they have an outside patio type area but then also the main restaurant. Be forewarned that the inside/bar area can be noisy as the canning conveyer is directly behind the bar. Don't forget this is a brewery and not a multi-million dollar operation. I ordered their beers while my wife ordered their spirits and really enjoyed them. The servers are very friendly and attentive; never did I feel lout of place or unwelcome. A bit out of the way for us and never an easy drive in East Lansing but will be back.

    My Chicken Tenders dinner

Interesting place. Set in an industrial area, we weren't sure we were in the right place at first. Got waited in fairly quickly but told that they were out of pizza for about an hour. Had to wait for dough to rise. At least they make it fresh but I was disappointed to not be able to try the pizza. Decided on their Chicken Tenders. My husband had their Cowboy Burger. It was their St Patrick's Day event so they had live music. It seemed to take a very long time for the food to come out. My chicken tenders had four huge pieces of chicken. I actually only ate one there and brought the rest home. They didn't have honey mustard sauce but a Carolina Gold BBQ sauce which was ok. Would have preferred honey mustard. My husband enjoyed his burger. Definitely got my moneys worth for my dinner. If I wasn't in a hurry, I'd probably go back to try their pizza.

The kitchen completely failed. Two burgers, made twice, were nothing like the descriptions. Dry and unremarkable. Will not go back.

I was with some friends and old coworkers when dining here, so I wasn't dining alone today. I was surprised there wasn't more people here since it was happy hour, but such is life. I ended up getting a hamburger with truffle fries as an upgrade since it sounded tasty. The burger was fantastic, though I wish it was a bit bigger. Truffle fries were good and it came with a really tasty dipping sauce. Our server was good but she did disappear for a while and when she did come back, we all asked for additional beverages. The place is clean with plenty of seating inside and I'm sure outdoor seating when the weather gets nicer. I'm not a huge drinker so I know they have a good beer selection, but didn't order since I wasn't really feeling it. Overall a great experience with a great menu, would return in the future.

Nate and I stopped in for a quick drink and a snack while in town and were seated right away in the bar area. I think they are pretty well known for their pizza, but we just went with an order of the buffalo chicken dip, which was bubbling hot and a large portion (we had plenty of leftovers). It was quite salty, but I guess that's to be expected. The chips were fresh and crispy and I liked that they give you some crostini as well. The drink prices were wild -- I got a large (maybe 20 oz) seltzer for $3!! I couldn't believe it. Service was friendly, basketball games were on the TVs, and I liked our visit. I think we'll be back next time we're in town.

Couldn't finish the sandwich because by the time I got to 1/3 left it was a sopping ball of goo. I probably should have scooped at least half of it off before I attempted to eat it. I Left it in the basket with a few onion rings (which were very good!) Too wet to finish. I recommend WAY less mayo to the establishment. I swear they applied at least 1/4 cup of mayo in the sauce for my (single) burger. Flavor was very good, but the sauce volume prevented me from finishing it. Regarding service: It was awesome. Bartender was knowledgeable and attentive. She knew what she was doing. I recommend sticking to beer if you are drinking. I ordered gin and tonics and got their own gin ("Hard Nose Gin"). It did not appear to resemble a traditional gin, but the description describes it as "juniper-forward". It was alright, but not my choice. I stopped by the night before and had a couple of pints of the Blood Orange Blonde, which was EXTREMELY good. I have never tried any of their other beers, but, given my experience, there appears to be a lot of promise there. Overall, a very good experience. I recommend. I still think they need to cut down the sauce on their olive burger - by a lot. But the flavor was very good. And the burger was cooked to my liking. I will definitely visit again. I just looked on their website. It is even smaller than the last time I was there. Since I am a light eater and traveling, I was stuck with 2 small salads or sides to choose from. I suggested another place closer to the hotel with much better reviews for next year dinner before our meeting so I don't have to come back here. Many in our group agreed.

The fried pickles were good also BUT the spicy feta dip was beyond amazing! Fresh, tangy and spicy! We had some leftover to take home and it was great with pita chips too! We only stopped because some of the other places such as HopCat & ElAz were packed. Harpers was only about 1/4 full which was surprising before a weekend game. We were seated right away but there was one delay (and excuse) after another as to taking so long to get drinks & the order placed. 25% full was apparently an unexpected rush because we kept hearing how shorthanded they were. Anyway, I did post an extra star due to the host keeping us informed and taking the initial order, just to keep things moving. During our stay the table next to us had two groups back to back just get up & leave due to the crappy service. The food itself was good and no complaints there, but it's obvious that management has had no clue for quite some time on how to give proper service. Yes, it is a college town bar/brew pub but that's no excuse for such mis-management. We were lucky that we had an extra 30 minutes to spare or else we would also most likely had picked up early and left. There's just too many decent places in the downtown E/L area that do take care of customers and if you're looking to get proper service it would be best to try those other options.
