I came in to get my AC looked at because it was blowing hot air. They said it would maybe take 3 days to look at it, but they ended up getting it done within the day! I was so excited, plus other shops quoted me $500-$700 to fix my AC but they were way better priced and only cost me $314. And when I tell you my AC is blowing colder than it was before it even broke, I legit got cold. The quality is 10x better! You know that feeling when you found the mechanic you will use for the next 20 years. No? Let me introduce you to them. I've used the shop three times on three separate issues. There was no need for review after the first two. Price was good, work was completed on time, they kept me informed of where they were at in the process.... what I expect from a shop. The third time I used them I was expecting another repair on my used truck. BUT here's what stood out. They proactively let me know it was a warranty issue with the part. So to me, that means on top of the good price, work completed on time and keeping me up to date. They ACTUALLY cared more about me as a customer than a few dollars in profit. read more

After much thought, I have decided to write my review of ME automotive. This is the second time I gave them a shot to repair one of my vehicles and the second time I left with more things wrong than before. My car wouldn't start but I was able to pop the clutch and get it going. I misdiagnosed the problem and had ME automotive change the starter. I fully admit that was my fault. After they changed the starter, they said the car still wouldn't start. So I paid the diagnostic fee. The next day they called me to inform me that a plastic grommet near the clutch pedal had worn down and deteriorated so it couldn't be actuated anymore, hence the car not sensing the clutch was depressed all the way and wouldn't start. They repaired it and replaced the grommet. At this point I had replaced a starter I didn't need to and after the grommet repair, I was somewhere around $550. This is a fair price for the work. I also fully admitted the misdiagnosis of the starter was 100% my bad. I picked my car up and about 300 feet down the road I noticed immediately my radio wasn't working at all. I took it back and they fixed it about 20 minutes later. The radio was working when I dropped the car off. They stated that a wire had become loose behind the radio and was purely coincidental. That night I went to work and noticed that none of my lights behind the cluster were lighting up. In addition to that my tail lights were not working and neither were my climate control lights. I also discovered my window automatic up and down switches were not working either. I also threw a check engine light. This was all within 60 miles of leaving the shop. I reached out to the service writer, who really did a great job with customer service. No real fault to him here. I first started that is it possible that they didn't disconnect the battery before changing the starter and it caused a short. I asked this because it would explain all the electrical problems I had began experiencing. The service writer told me to come in the next day and they would check the fuses. I came in the next day and they spent over an hour looking at the car trying to diagnose the electrical issues. When I realized they were willing to look at it for over an hour, I began to wonder if they knew these issues were caused during the starter install. They didn't charge me to look at it and their final conclusion was that a previous alarm install/removal was at fault for these issues. They quoted an additional $175 to fix the electrical issues and stated that any electrical problems I experienced were purely coincidental and was no fault of their own. I grew suspicious. I took it to another shop who was able to find the problem within an hour. Tail light switch relay. It had nothing to do with the alarm install and removal they had said was at fault. I picked his brain about all of this because I suspected that they shorted the electrical system during the starter install. He said more than likely that's what happened and they blew several fuses during the install. I'm not going to base it all on another mechanics word, but to summarize, all evidence points to a shoddy install of the starter causing an electrical short. Arrived there and employed them to fix the starter. They installed a new starter. Changed clutch grommets. Car started. Immediately threw a CEL, radio didn't work, tail lights didn't work, cluster lights didn't work. Obviously, a lot more problems than I had before. They were adamant this was 100% coincidental and not their fault at all. Even though all of these issues occurred immediately after they touched the car. Their diagnosis of the alarm situation wasn't even the problem. Somehow, a tail light relay "went bad" all while they installed the starter. I'll say this, the service writer did a good job and helped me out as much as they could. However, no shop will look at a car for over an hour after they've already "fixed" something unless they felt that it's possible it was their fault. I will not recommend ME automotive at this point read more

I've been VERY pleased with Hill Top Automotive. They've fixed my 2005 Dodge Neon a couple of times.... this last time they fixed a gas leak that I didn't know was there (showed me it dripping) when I went in for a battery change (they're prices on batteries beat the local auto parts store by $10!). I go to them for all of my maintenance.. oil changes (with hand wash as a bonus.)... brake work on my wife's Honda CRV, and other piddly stuff for my car. I've found them to be honest... upfront... and less expensive than other places. Great quality, quick, and fair prices. What more could you want out of a repair shop? I stopped in today because a "screech" noise from my brakes was getting louder (and more embarrassing). It used to go away when I tapped the brakes, not anymore. Anyway, I stopped in to Hill Top and took the manager, Jerry, on a short so he could hear the noise (it was on the passenger side). He put my car in the air, took the tire off and worked his mechanic magic to stop that noise. I pulled out my wallet, but he just shook my hand and told me to have a good day. It may have been an easy fix for him, but it wasn't something I could do. I would have been happy to pay for the repair (which he said was "nothing" even though he spent 20 minutes on it) but I am happier not to pay for it. Most recently my car I use for a 100 mile round trip daily to work AC started blowing not so cold. Figured it had been two years since the last evac and charge, better bring it in. Called ahead and they said to swing by and they would jump on it. Pulled in and away they went. Pulled the 134 out and it was an oz low. Charged it, paid, and I'm rolling in ice cold AC. Said they couldn't find any leaks and I confirmed that with a UV light and a sniffer. Not sure where the slow leak is at. But at these prices I can afford every two years to drop in and get it fixed. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU VISIT THIS SHOP. I'm going to qualify my statement by saying that I've been in the car business for 5 years, grew up in a family of mechanics, and know plenty about how these shops operate, having worked in a few myself. On October 21st I brought in my girlfriends car to get a spark plug and coil park replacement. Before I'd even handed over the keys, I was told that they would be charging me 100$ to run a diagnostic. I informed them it wouldn't be necessary, I already knew what the problem was and I wanted them to go ahead and do the replacement. Instead of accepting this the "owner" introduced himself and stated that they want to make sure it's the problem before fixing it. I knew that it was in fact the problem, as I used the exact same scanner that they used to diagnose the problem, and I told them this. Then the argument became that they didn't trust the scanner they were using, so they wanted a mechanic to look at it. I told them that's fine, but I know what I'm talking about so all that's necessary was the replacement. Keep in mind, I have been here for 30 minutes already. The "owner" begins to yell, yes, like a child, that they are doing the diagnostic, and I'd be paying for it. He continues to act belligerently, so I asked for the keys; I'd be taking my business elsewhere. In the time it took to have this argument, an hour passed! I go outside, wait for the keys and start looking for another shop. Without mentioning the previous behavior, a much calmer "owner" comes outside to inform me that "Yeah, you were right it's the coil pack and spark plugs. I'll waive the diagnostic, and we should have it done in an hour." No explanation, no apologies, just letting me know that what I told him an hour ago was in fact, correct. The car was not ready in an hour. Or two hours actually. They finished the "replacement" two hours and forty five minutes later, and rushed us out the door. I talked to the "owner" one last time and told him I appreciated him calming down. Again, no apologies, no admission that he'd been belligerent. Fast forward to December 21st, two months to the day of the spark plug and coil pack replacement. My girlfriend, alone and driving to her parents for the holidays, suddenly finds herself trapped an hour away because her car dies at 70 mph on the highway. No engine, no lights, nothing. Thank god the brakes worked, and ME Automotive didn't touch those. The car was towed to a reputable automotive repair shop, Christian Brothers Automotive, a chain known for good service and transparent communication. Christian Brothers quickly diagnosed the problem, and amazingly, it's the spark plug and coil pack! It seems that ME Automotive decided that instead of replacing the coil pack and the spark plugs, parts that we paid for, all that was necessary was to ziptie the coil pack in place. That's right, I was argued with, yelled at, and RIPPED OFF by the same "owner" who claimed that he needed a 100$ diagnostic fee before even looking at the car. We paid 400$ for ME Automotive to replace the coil pack and spark plug, and they used a ziptie to save 75$ worth of parts. The car did not even last 60 days without dying due to the gross negligence of ME Automotive and the first thing I plan to do when the holidays are over is get the money back. Christian Brothers had to replace almost 2,000$ worth of parts and labor in order to have the car running safely again, and they identified that the incorrect repair and replacement of the coil pack/spark plugs caused the damage due to excess wear. This is the stereotypical shady auto mechanic shop, and is horrific to deal with. ME Automotive and it's "owner" put someone in danger because they thought that a ziptie was more than enough to fix a problem and make a profit. Disgusting. read more

A couple of weeks back I was installing a bull bar on my truck and got stuck. One of the bolts I was trying to remove was on too tight and needed a compression tool to remove. I was out of luck because mine recently gave out so I was doing everything with a battery-operated drill and ratchet. I tried everything to remove it but had no luck. I took the chance of driving to 4 shops to see if anyone would lend a hand (tool) to remove the tow hook bolts from under the truck. I had no luck until I came to ME Automotive. The guys were happy to help and got under the truck right away. I had no appt, I was asking for help knowing I wasn't going to purchase a service from them and without hesitation they offered to help and wouldn't take cash. I can't thank these guys enough. I wasn't in a predicament I couldn't have just taken care of later. Knowing the guys were that willing to help and immediately jumped in, has DEFINITELY earned my business! I've lived in Kyle for nine years and had yet to find a mechanic who met my needs. I'm the sole care provider for two children with disabilities. Accordingly, I was pleased to connect with Josh who was willing to accommodate our special needs. I no longer have to drop my vehicle off and walk several miles home. While I appreciate the exercise, my kids need me. Their staff is extremely professional and friendly while offering me a ride when necessary. I'm only 21 and they treated me like an adult, and worked with my schedule. A few months back I took my vehicle here to get looked at. My husband and I are not mechanics but just from the feel of my vehicle, we knew it was the transmission. I took my car to ME, told them the symptoms and that we thought it was transmission. They charged us to run a dIagnosic test, and told us they thought it could be the transmission but first other work needeed to be done before they could diagnose it as the transmission. The work included new spark plugs, and cleaned out the gas line...so $500 dollars later they called and told us we could pick up our car the problem was fixed. We go to pick it up and as soon as we leave, we can immediately tell the problem was still there even though the mechanic said it was fixed. So we take it back and are told they would look at it again. We get a call back a day later, and surprise it's our transmission! We are told we need a new transmission. My issue is that we have a $100 deductible and the transmission is a covered repair. ME Auto told us it would cost us out of pocket another $500 on top of what we already paid, so $1,000 total when our deductible is only $100! They gave us some excuse that the warranty company wouldn't cover all of it so it would be passed on to us. We decided to take it to Ford instead and paid our $100 deductible and got our transmission fixed, and didn't have to pay more than our deductible like ME Auto was trying to scam us out of. We used to like this shop until this happened and we won't be back again. read more

The place just seems very professional and decent. The guy suggested that I think about replacing my tires soon because the rubber was old and that I don't want to wait for it to blow out. I own a 2004 BMW X5 and the service engine light came on. I only moved here 7months ago so I didn't know where to take my car. I read the reviews and decided to take my car to Hilltop Automotive Repair and this turned out to be the best thing I did. I took my car in and Johnathan had the problem diagnosed very quickly. I also had a lot of other problems that they found while they were working on my car. My technician Ted was the best, he took the time to tell me in depth what was wrong with my car and he also showed me the problems. Before I moved here my car went to the same place for repair for 9 years. I am very particular as to who I let work on my car. Ted was very knowledgeable about BMW and I would not take my car anywhere else from now on. The great thing about Hilltop is that they work with you on the price and they try to be very fair. I must mention Johnathan the GM of Hilltop Automotive Repair because he is one of the nicest people I've met in a long time. He is very meticulous when explains what needs to be done to your vehicle and he doesn't make you spend your money on things that you don't need. If I had a local business I would steal this guy away from them. Hilltop Automotive Repair take care of this man because if loose him it will be very hard to replace him.
