I came here for brunch last weekend and it was decent. When we walked up there were a lot of people waiting around, but the wait didn't take too long. There are plenty of shops to wander around in while you wait, it's a really nice shopping center. I liked that I could add pancakes as a side to my basic breakfast instead of toast. I didn't like that the server asked if me I wanted to add a breakfast meat on the side, but didn't mention the extra charge listed on the menu - I did not opt to add bacon or sausage for $3.50. There are some reviews mentioning credit card fees in the fine print that they try to hide so clearly they're kind of sneaky about that kind of thing. I ordered an iced latte when I sat down and it didn't come until after the food came to the table. Kind of a bummer but it was extremely busy and the coffee area looked small. Excellent spot in central Phoenix to get some delicious chilaquiles. My only ding to this place is that when it's busy, it's noisy both inside and outside to the point that it nearly ruins my dining experience. Best to dine here during off-peak hours on a weekday. read more

A friend and I stopped in for a brunch date and overall the place is cute kind of gives off a diner vibe which I love. We were immediately seated and we were brought some water. Our server Ashley was great - very prompt and patient with us even though she was busy. I ordered a banana oatmilk smoothie and my friend just had water. The smoothie was FIIIREE (so good) I drank it like a little kid lol. For my meal I ordered an egg white veggie omelette and side of bacon. My friend ordered french toast and a side of crispy bacon. Overall, the food was decent but the 3 starts came from 1. My egg whites were not fully cooked and there was slimy stuff that looked disgusting in it I didn't finish it - please make sure the omelettes are cooked well or dont look like some white slimy substance in food! 2. Super disappointing experience, ordered online and my food was not made as requested. I asked for basted eggs, they served me scrambled. They asked me to send a picture as proof and I did- almost 24 hours later no response- I had to reach out the next day and they told me that they couldn't do anything about it because that wasn't their box or gravy whaaaaat!!! I had sent them the picture soon after picking it up. Spoke to 2 different managers and neither one of them cared to make it right. Skip the hot yoga studio next door and come here. The core work I got leaned over the toilet could rival any workout studio. In all honesty the service felt pretty sub par, the food we ordered was pretty different than what came out. And what did come out wasn't all that good. Caution they are back to adding an additional charge to use credit card of 2.95% which makes me not want to go there. Fine print on menu and posted on door. Atmosphere is sterile cafeteria-ish. This is my reason for a 3 and not 4. They use a handheld Toast device to avoid giving a bill to see and hide the additional charge. If you ask for a paper check they say they cannot and will print the check after you pay. A typical Chicago restaurant chain. Bring cash! You need to lower your tip by credit card as they are adding 3% to that as well. read more

We went on a Monday with no reservations and there was no wait. I kind of understand what people were saying about the service because they weren't young and there was a language barrier because our server's first language wasn't English. They brought us the wrong food at first then they brought the right one but we needed to ask for syrup (we ordered French toast) and utensils. Service wasn't rude, it just showed lack of training so the hiring team is to blame not the actual servers themselves. It took them long to take our order and give us the bill but it could have been because we were seated outside and they might of forgot about us. Our whole table was empty and we waited about 10-15 minutes then finally brought us our bill, kinda strange as if they thought we already paid. Food didn't take too long and both meals were delicious, nothing outstanding but I would get both these dishes again. Ambiance was nice outside, right before it hits summer. read more

I used to love coming here but honestly the food and service has gotten so bad I don't think I'll come back. The wait is far too long. Once you finally get in their system for serving food is woefully inadequate. They have like one Runner running food, 15 cooks, and about 7 Waiters so what ends up happening is you can watch all of your food stacked up while you're not eating it and one Runner trying to figure out where it goes. Meanwhile the waiters and waitresses just keep putting in orders and the chefs keep churning it out. It takes forever to get a drink and the food just isn't as good as it used to be. I love a lot of the little shops and restaurants at Uptown Plaza and have been wanting to try this place for awhile. I really enjoyed it! My friend said the berry mascarpone pancakes were delicious and I believe it. They looked great. I'm currently in a calorie surplus so I'm paying attention to all my macros at the moment. I loved that they had the Elly's breakfast club option on the menu because this made doing that easier since all the ingredients are separated out. My kids split the waffle which I tasted and it was also very good! I thought the prices were reasonable and service was good, too! I will return for sure. read more

We love Ellys! It is our favorite breakfast place. There are so many different things to try. Their pancakes are better than Cracker Barrels (iykyk). Very reasonably priced for how much food and how good it is. My one reason for taking off a star is the service...we have come to Ellys probably a dozen times, and out of those times we have had 2 good waiters. The host doesn't say "follow me" or "good morning" just gets menus and walks away (and this is an every time occurance). We will continue to return but it will make us so happy to see that improve! read more

The food is always good. However, last week the server turned on the misters on the patio that we requested and then they went off and the server apologized and said the manager just said they couldn't use them until she got them serviced which the server said everyone advised her to do that in June before the heat. The server said we all joke that she acts like fixing anything comes out of her own pocket, and we remarked maybe she gets a bonus if she comes in under budget even if it means the customers sit on the patio in 105 degree temperatures without the misters. I went up to her as, she was working as the hostess and told her a table for 3 and she with attitude told me to wait till my party was here. My second friend arrived and we asked to be seated since the majority of the party was here (and contrary to what she said, it is common to seat the party when the majority is there) and she with attitude said to my friend, "Sure, when the last person arrives." Later, she allowed another person to be sat without having her entire party being there... so what does she have against me and my friends? I loved my crepes but I was starving; my spouse didn't like his eggs benedict or his hash browns but I thought they tasted fine. I'd rate them a 4; spouse rates them a 2. I ordered pancakes online from this cafe and was extremely disappointed when I got home and found that there was no syrup or butter included. These are basic, essential items that should automatically come with pancakes--especially when you're paying full price. When I called the cafe to let them know, the employee told me it was my fault for not checking the bag before I left. Not only is that unreasonable (especially with online orders), but it also showed a complete lack of accountability. I wasn't offered any solution or apology--just told there was "nothing they could do." This kind of customer service is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. I love LOVE coming here on Sat or Sunday mornings. Have to get there around 9 or just before for prime seating and no waiting. Tons of delicious foods to choose from and very supportive of GF needs. I was in the neighborhood, looking for a breakfast spot, and decided to check this place out. The hostesses were nice they put me on a waiting list that was going to be about 20 minutes. Fortunately, me and my sister were seated early. We sat at the table for 20 minutes and nobody had acknowledged us yet. I was able to catch the hostess who sat us at our table. We informed we would order our food right then and there. The way things were going it would be another hour before we could see him again. Our drinks came at different times, but not a long lag time. I ordered the Steak and Wild Mushroom Skillet and my sister ordered the Southwest Omelette. Our entrees included hashbrowns and pancakes. We also ordered a side of the chile Verde sauce. Our food came 25 minutes later. At this point we were invested and committed to our order. But it wasn't really that busy at this point. The food was good I was happily surprised with the amount of steak in my skillet. I am glad I ordered the sauce, our food really needed it. The food was good the pancakes were nice and fluffy. Arturo did not do a lot of following up. Which was frustrating. We probably would've ordered some orange juice. We were never offered water at any point in time which is odd. We started coming to Ellie's regularly after they first opened and initially loved the menu selection, food and service. Last year after a couple bad experiences with the service we stopped coming. Today, we decided to give it another go and thanks to our amazing waitress, Devina, we will definitely be back. She was both attentive and personable. I had the Ellie's Original Benedict with a side of fruit and it was delicious. The eggs were poached to perfection and the fruit was ripe and sweet. I also had an iced Matcha Latte with oat milk and it was yummy. My husband had the Chilaquiles which he really enjoyed as well. Absolutely unacceptable for anyone with food allergies. On Monday, Elly's told me my sandwich and fries were gluten-free -- they weren't. I ended up sick because they served me regular bread and unsafe fries. Today, a different server actually knew the truth: only the sweet potato fries are safe, and the gluten-free bread looks different. That means my first visit was pure negligence. If staff can't consistently identify allergens, they're putting people's health at risk. I'll never go back, and others with allergies should think twice. read more
