I asked for the onions to be grilled extra and they were still more raw. I strongly recommend selecting the pancakes as they were great! Service - The server was very nice, but they lost our order so it took a long time to get our food. The manager apologized and gave us a discount. I came here for brunch last weekend and it was decent. When we walked up there were a lot of people waiting around, but the wait didn't take too long. There are plenty of shops to wander around in while you wait, it's a really nice shopping center. I liked that I could add pancakes as a side to my basic breakfast instead of toast. I didn't like that the server asked if me I wanted to add a breakfast meat on the side, but didn't mention the extra charge listed on the menu - I did not opt to add bacon or sausage for $3.50. There are some reviews mentioning credit card fees in the fine print that they try to hide so clearly they're kind of sneaky about that kind of thing. I ordered an iced latte when I sat down and it didn't come until after the food came to the table. Kind of a bummer but it was extremely busy and the coffee area looked small. We decided to go here for Mother's Day this year. The wait was not bad (30 minutes) but once we were seated and ordered, the wait for our food just kept getting pushed back further and further. We watched several people leave with to go orders on a busy day where that service should come after those who are in person. After waiting an hour to get our food, we asked for the manager. Waited another 20 minutes and the manager never came out. As someone who works in hospitality, the wait time for our food left a sour taste in my mouth, but the manager not taking responsibility and/or accountability and coming out to meet the customers is a whole different story. I will be hesitant on giving a restaurant with management like this my business again. Please ensure you have better/stronger management in place moving forward. read more

A friend and I stopped in for a brunch date and overall the place is cute kind of gives off a diner vibe which I love. We were immediately seated and we were brought some water. Food is ok. Sometimes Inconsistent. Serving staff is excellent. Even though I have been here 5 times in past month I just noticed the fine print. Caution they are back to adding an additional charge to use credit card of 2.95% which makes me not want to go there. Fine print on menu and posted on door. Atmosphere is sterile cafeteria-ish. This is my reason for a 3 and not 4. They use a handheld Toast device to avoid giving a bill to see and hide the additional charge. If you ask for a paper check they say they cannot and will print the check after you pay. A typical Chicago restaurant chain. Bring cash! You need to lower your tip by credit card as they are adding 3% to that as well. read more

We went on a Monday with no reservations and there was no wait. I kind of understand what people were saying about the service because they weren't young and there was a language barrier because our server's first language wasn't English. They brought us the wrong food at first then they brought the right one but we needed to ask for syrup (we ordered French toast) and utensils. Service wasn't rude, it just showed lack of training so the hiring team is to blame not the actual servers themselves. It took them long to take our order and give us the bill but it could have been because we were seated outside and they might of forgot about us. Our whole table was empty and we waited about 10-15 minutes then finally brought us our bill, kinda strange as if they thought we already paid. Super disappointing experience, ordered online and my food was not made as requested. I asked for basted eggs, they served me scrambled. They asked me to send a picture as proof and I did- almost 24 hours later no response- I had to reach out the next day and they told me that they couldn't do anything about it because that wasn't their box or gravy whaaaaat!!! Once you finally get in their system for serving food is woefully inadequate. They have like one Runner running food, 15 cooks, and about 7 Waiters so what ends up happening is you can watch all of your food stacked up while you're not eating it and one Runner trying to figure out where it goes. Meanwhile the waiters and waitresses just keep putting in orders and the chefs keep churning it out. It takes forever to get a drink and the food just isn't as good as it used to be. I love a lot of the little shops and restaurants at Uptown Plaza and have been wanting to try this place for awhile. I really enjoyed it! My friend said the berry mascarpone pancakes were delicious and I believe it. They looked great. I'm currently in a calorie surplus so I'm paying attention to all my macros at the moment. I loved that they had the Elly's breakfast club option on the menu because this made doing that easier since all the ingredients are separated out. We love Ellys! It is our favorite breakfast place. There are so many different things to try. Their pancakes are better than Cracker Barrels (iykyk). Very reasonably priced for how much food and how good it is. My one reason for taking off a star is the service...we have come to Ellys probably a dozen times, and out of those times we have had 2 good waiters. The host doesn't say "follow me" or "good morning" just gets menus and walks away (and this is an every time occurance). We will continue to return but it will make us so happy to see that improve! read more

These are basic, essential items that should automatically come with pancakes--especially when you're paying full price. When I called the cafe to let them know, the employee told me it was my fault for not checking the bag before I left. Not only is that unreasonable (especially with online orders), but it also showed a complete lack of accountability. I wasn't offered any solution or apology--just told there was "nothing they could do." This kind of customer service is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. I was in the neighborhood, looking for a breakfast spot, and decided to check this place out. The hostesses were nice they put me on a waiting list that was going to be about 20 minutes. Fortunately, me and my sister were seated early. We sat at the table for 20 minutes and nobody had acknowledged us yet. I was able to catch the hostess who sat us at our table. We informed we would order our food right then and there. The way things were going it would be another hour before we could see him again. Our drinks came at different times, but not a long lag time. I ordered the Steak and Wild Mushroom Skillet and my sister ordered the Southwest Omelette. Our entrees included hashbrowns and pancakes. We also ordered a side of the chile Verde sauce. Our food came 25 minutes later. At this point we were invested and committed to our order. But it wasn't really that busy at this point. The food was good I was happily surprised with the amount of steak in my skillet. I am glad I ordered the sauce, our food really needed it. The food was good the pancakes were nice and fluffy. Arturo did not do a lot of following up. Which was frustrating. We probably would've ordered some orange juice. We were never offered water at any point in time which is odd.
