Great brunch experience in the Encanto area. MUST get there before 730am to avoid the wrap around the building line. I had the American breakfast with salmon and a French old fashioned. My wife had the crustless quiche and an oat milk chai. The French toast plate just walked by and it looks amazing. 62$ for our meal. I wasn't thrilled with Sophia's. All of the patio tables were dirty, so we asked someone to go and clean it. They said they would and never did. The food took a long time to come out and the salad was missing hard boiled eggs--they said they needed to make them and come back. They were taking a long time, so we ended up leaving early. The manager did refund the salad, which was appreciated, but the service needs to improve considerably. The French toast was decent, but not something I'd come back to just to get personally. I also didn't realize it was a party breakfast restaurant where the music is so loud you can barely hear anyone--that's not my scene. Nothing about the experience worked for me. read more

After all the posts on social media, we had to come check Sophia's out. We went this past Sunday morning. Upon arriving around 9:30am, there was a line out the door to order food. However, it moved pretty quickly. I'd say we waited about 20-25 minutes. After ordering, we were told to pick any open seats and that our food would be brought to us. Surprisingly, the food did not take long. It was probably about 40 minutes from the time we arrived to receiving our food, which is not terrible considering how busy this place gets. We ordered a breakfast burrito, an american breakfast, and a French toast, a cold brew, and a honey bee latte. The food was delicious. However, the coffee wasn't so great. It tasted somewhat watered down, hence why I'm only giving four stars. Other than that, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant's vibes were also really nice. read more

We had wanted to go to Sophia's and actually made a couple of attempts, but as you'll see from my video, this place gets seriously long line. In the past we've just gone someplace else and vowed to come earlier in the day to avoid the line. We got up early-ish for a Saturday morning and made our way to Phoenix. I really love this building which was repurposed from an old house from the 1940s era. There's a glass wall that completely opens that runs diagonal across the building, and a patio with giant shades. A long silver communal table runs down the middle of the room and there are lots of little tables dotted around. Although this place is nearly designed, it has a fantastic retro look with white globe lights. They're also lots of plants and the place just feels bright and airy. There is a glass case with delicious looking pastries, and although there's no official bar, they do serve some cocktails like mimosas. We arrived at 9:00 and the line was already relatively long. My son grabbed a table while I got in line to order the counter - - this is a place where you order at the counter and they'll bring you your food when it's ready. We ordered an iced vanilla latte, a pecan sticky bun, chicken schnitzel which came with Caesar salad, and a honey Dill chicken sando. There was a mix-up, which I fully take responsibility for, and we did not receive the chicken sando - - again, my fault. We asked one of the servers about it and we learned it was never added to our order. No worries though, because the schnitzel and Caesar salad was gigantic and we ended up splitting that and the sticky bun. It was plenty of food for us. I have to give kudos because when we were out in the parking lot, the manager came out to hand us a gift card for the inconvenience of not having the chicken sando added to our order. It was not a big deal and it was my fault, but she was very kind and gave it to me anyway. I 100% recommend Sophia's, just come prepared to wait in line. It's worth it. read more

Hubs and I heard about Sophie's and had to give it a try. Everything sounded delicious. We ordered their famous French toast and their egg sandwich with a side of eggs. This was absolutely delicious! French toast was on the sweeter side but tasty. The egg sandwich was filling but a bit messy to eat. The tater tots and the spicy mayo sauce were the winner for me. This place gets packed! Met up with friends here on Sunday and we we enjoyed our visit. The line was long when we arrived but it moved pretty quickly. The restaurant is beautiful and has a nice open concept. The decor and colors all go well and gives it a clean welcoming vibe. I ordered the BLT sandwich with an iced black tea chai + vanilla. The rest of our orders included an American breakfast, an egg sandwich, and the honey dill chicken sandwich. For pastries we shared one French toast, one cinnamon roll, and one Guava pastry. The pastries were all delicious. The French toast and cinnamon roll were my favorite. The French toast was served warm, it was fluffy, and had the right amount of butter on top. This was a pleasant surprise! Originally had plans for another spot but that place was closed so a quick search and this place was an option. Met with a friend here and we were greeted as we entered. Super cute layout, all open to the outside, which may get a bit harsh with the warmer temps but it was comfortable in the morning. Limited parking next to them, but was able to grab a spot. We came at 9:30am On Sunday and there was a big line- thankfully it went fast but my friend who showed up at 9:45 had to wait 20-30 minutes longer than we did to place her order. I've been so excited to finally come here since it's opened, and it totally didn't disappoint! As soon as I ran out the corner and drove up into the parking lot, I noticed there was a huge line which I was not surprised since it's only been a few months since opening. I did have to park pretty far down the lot, but there were definitely still plenty of spots left in the area. I waited in line about 45 minutes and this was around 10 AM. This was all good, because my eyes certainly had a feast upon the brilliant retro-modern decor and airy ambiance. Right before we reached the counter, an employee seated us to order through her. I'm assuming they split everyone near the counter whether it's a to go or a sitdown order? Nonetheless, we were glad that it was seating by a waitress since we were worried that finding a spot was going to be a challenge. I got the Matcha martini and the waffle, which was corn based I believe. Absolutely scrumptious!! The Matcha martini had a very deep Matcha flavor and it wasn't overly sweet, which was exactly how I liked it! 10/10!! The waffle was equally just as good as it was corn flavor, so it had a slightly savory profile to balance its sweet toppings. I couldn't get enough!! This spot came highly recommended and sadly the food was not it. We live in an age where beautiful Instagrammable spots get a lot of attention because of the esthetics seem to outweigh the main character which, in my opinion, is the food. Don't get me wrong, this spot is too cute. Nostalgic of California vibes, the place was clean, the staff were very attentive and professional. Plus, the bathrooms were clean also. So I will give credit where credit is due. However, the Breakfast fried rice was very much lacking. I heard and thought it would be all the rage but the rice did not seem to be fully cooked and tried to add hot sauce, spicy mayo, anything to help the flavor but it did not help. We also tried the Breakfast sandwich with the side of tater tots and spicy mayo. The tots won the show and thats saying a lot considering they were overdone. But that spicy mayo was the great assist. But, I recently had another design-genius-with-a-latte-machine moment in this architectural marvel. The Unique Detail: This structure is one of the most aesthetically pleasing spaces in Phoenix. This brunch place is a new and popular spot in Midtown Phoenix. The restaurant itself is beautiful. They had open windows and light airy decorations that made it seem bigger than what it actually was. It's a popular restaurant, so if you go at a busy time, you might find yourself hunting for a table after ordering your food. For the food itself, we got the egg sandwich and the golden corn waffle. The waffle was good and was unique. The egg sandwich was good but didn't really distinguish itself from other egg sandwiches. So I was a little disappointed by it at its price point. Located next to the Beadle building on Thomas, Sophia's mimics the design with a metallic exterior while introducing beautiful arches, soft earthy tones, and an open-air environment. It's worth a visit for the building alone (don't forget to check out the restroom), but I was so impressed by the food!! The hidden gem: Sophia's Burger. I know this is a brunch spot, but you can't miss out. As someone who has only occasionally *liked* burgers, I can honestly say I *love* a burger for the first time. The quality and cook of the beef, with a bit of pink, was superb. There's a perfect ratio of caramelized onions, comté cheese, and oniony sauce (no drowning in ketchup or mayo!!). And the fries were SO crisp and well-seasoned. The ever-so-popular French toast was a hit too. The caramel interior was deliciously rich, and the bread was soft but not soggy. It's incredibly sweet as French toasts often are, so I recommend sharing, but it's a nice decadent treat. Service seems to have found its flow, and we were quickly guided to an open seat on a busy Friday after ordering. Water and utensils are conveniently ready at a clean station. What a unique and fun place to visit! We decided to hold our small team meeting here for brunch and not knowing what to expect, two of us arrived first and found a table on the patio. We really wanted to be inside just because it was a tad cool and eventually a table inside opened up so I skirted over to claim it. The server came and cleared the table but never came back to wash the table. I just used a couple of napkins to sweep off the crumbs. And little did we know but eventually the entire glass wall was opened up and it was just like sitting out on the patio! I also want to mention parking! It is tight and not easy to find a spot and we discovered that you could park in empty spots over at the office building next door but it was a small parking area for sure! Very small place with limited table and counter seating. You line up and order, are given a table number and food is brought to you. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Seemed a bit unorganized at times but it seems to work for them! I noticed that when servers brought meals to the tables, they never picked up the little table numbers and then a bit later one of the workers came around and picked up all of the numbers from the various tables...interesting and wondered if it would work better to serve the table, grab the number plate and take it back to the serving counter. Ok, shrugs! They have a very limited menu but what they offer is spectacular! I decided to have the egg sandwich, which comes with this magnificent, very tender milk bread with egg, bacon, cheese, avocado, and a mayo spread that says spicy but wasn't in the least. Comes with a small cup of fried tots that have some of this same spread over the top. The presentation of the sandwich was like I've never seen...see the photos! I was so pleased and look forward to another visit to try something else! I also asked for iced black tea which turns out to be more like a mango or passion fruit flavored tea and was really nice. I also got one of the maple pecan muffins, which they call "handpies" to go for the wife. They have a great case full of handpies and other wonderful looking pastry-type goodies. This spot was so incredibly cute! When we arrived on Sunday morning around 11:30 and boy was it packed on a perfect sunny day. The crowd wrapped around the corner of the entrance and folks sat outside feeling the bright sun on their happy faces. There was a lovely lady walking down the line apologizing for the delay and wait but there was no need for us, as we were enjoying spending time together in line, as I came with my MIL and daughter. It was so sweet. The foods looked incredible coming out and on people's tables so we were able to largely see a visual menu, which was so cool. We ordered a good amount of to go goodies and for brunch we had French toast and the breakfast fried rice and the Everly smoothie. I didn't get it but saw it a few times, the salmon, and knowing it's coming from Chula Seafood as one of their local partners - I'm sold. Overall experience was fantastic, delicious food, great service, attention to details, and the stickers they have that are free are soooo cute. I understand why the trend and how it got so popular and viral. But it's worth it and I'd wait again in that 45 min line to enjoy! That is truly beautiful, remarkable, and management should be proud of their employees. The food was a home run! They have menus out so you can take your time and hop in line to order. I got the Breakfast Fried Rice & Danish. I did notice Bees flying around the sweet pastry; typically I'd think that maybe concerning but with how beautiful this restaurant is it was kind of magical and fit the theme. The Bees may be an issue for people who are allergic to pollen or bees, but until it becomes a problem I think it's magical. This restaurant is hands down gorgeous! The most beautiful restaurant I've eaten in. There is so much exposure to natural light, fresh air, if I was walking down the street and saw it I would walk right in. I will be dreaming about this French toast for the rest of my life! Soo buttery and soft with a dulce de leche like center that paired perfectly with the bread. It tastes even better than it looks and it's beautiful so that says something. The rest of my food was fantastic too! I liked the breakfast fried rice, it had a really good flavor and I liked the kimchi. The breakfast sandwich was hard to pick up and eat but the eggs were fluffy and the bread was soft, a fork worked just fine when it came apart a bit. They run this place like a well oiled machine, no sitting down before you order (thankfully, otherwise there'd be no tables), they bus plates quickly, and everyone is friendly. The chorizo in it was flavorful and the tater tot side was a large portion. I also got one of their pastries which was light and chocolatey. The staff are all very friendly! Parking can be a difficult to navigate as the parking lot is a little small. Additionally, the seating is limited when it is really busy. Super cute brunch spot. I've come twice and waited in line for about 20 minutes each time. Got a table easily because the staff is constantly turning over tables. Such a clean spot that is very aesthetically pleasing. The food itself is acceptable. The Caesar salad was acceptable, but the fried rice is a little dry. My favorite item was a chicken sandwich which was juicy and flavorful. Their coffee is good, but the Matcha was just OK, but matcha is hard to do. My friend got a beet smoothie which I did not like but it sounds healthy. We'll definitely bring more people here for the vibes but the food is definitely just okay. read more

A unique looking brunch spot the moment you pull into the parking lot as it's a nice open air seating area that you walk up to. You line up to order first and the host will help get you situated at a table. It's definitely a popular spot as this place was packed when I visited. The menu had a good brunch selection to choose from and visually everything looked quite photo worthy. The egg sandwich was delicious and the tater tots with the sauce was almost right. Unfortunately they were fried for too long and were overly crispy so when biting into them you lose most of the flavor and just get a bunch of crunchiness. read more

Went for brunch to check out what everyone's talking about. Loooooooong line but moved decently quick. Luckily they don't sit anyone until you order so it keeps the seat savers in check. I had the corn waffle which was great mix of savory, sweet and spice from the flavored chile butter. I was craving the brûlée espresso martini but they were sold out so I got a smoothie and it wasn't bad. Would I go back sure did it change my life not at all.
