I Absolutely love this place!! I've had several of there drinks and there all bomb! No artificial tasting like Starbucks! Highly recommend. Was super excited to try this place seeing that they had honey toast!!! Sadly the honey toast did not live up to expectations. The honey used (regular Costco honey) killed the entire thing even further. The iced latte was good! Decor was great but there was a horrible sewage smell that came inside the entire shop from outside that totally ruined it for us. This is absolutely one of the top cafes on my NYC Go-To-List The interior is so cozy and I could honestly spend hours or part-time live here basically haha. Elm serves AMAZING matcha (+coffee) as well as their signature made to order toasts including the chili chicken and elote avocado which are simple yet makes you wanna go back for more. There are a few tables in the back + outlets + free WiFi so you can do some work, catch up with friends, or just watch the baristas rock their latte art. It's so exciting to get such a nice indie coffee spot in Elmhurst! The small storefront is deceiving as it opens into quite an elongated spacious space inside with ample seating and nice decor. It was also cute to see a wall selling assorted handmade goods from what I'm assuming are small businesses. The menu is pretty comprehensive as far as coffees go, offering speciality lattes to kyoto drip, and the prices are fair. I especially love that they ask if you want medium or dark roast for your drink! There's also an assortment of baked goods in the display case. I got a lavender latte- probably one of the best I've had because the lavender notes are much more pronounced than others. Service was quick and friendly. There's a rewards program, free wifi, great music- what more could you ask for? Excited to return for more excellent coffee! read more

There was live jazz music just the other day, and they even have a roaster in the back of the cafe. We've been here a few times and I personally would stick to the coffee menu. I've had the ginger latte which was tasty, but have also tried a non-coffee drink - think it was a berry lemonade - but felt it was really bland, so I would steer clear. They also serve pastries and other hot food items like savory or sweet toasts. I'd definitely be interested in checking out whichever one uses "Lao Gan Ma" spicy chili crisp sauce as I saw a jar of it sitting on the counter. (Glad they went with the OG since I'm not really a fan of these modern iterations, e.g. Fly by Jing). Anyhow, you already know whatever uses that special sauce should be hella good. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the space was packed with all sorts of people in the community. You've got families, aunties and uncles, couples, friends, everyone was so friendly. Some items to take in to account at the elm is definitely the chili crisp toast, it has a blend of Szechuan style chili with a crispy bread and delicious chicken with a blend of some sauce that's making me drool as I write this review. I've been here three times, hoping each visit would be better than the last, but it's consistently underwhelming. My first time, I got a regular latte with whole milk, and it was just average. Nothing special with the coffee beans. The second time, I tried the chai latte, which was way too sweet for my liking. On my third visit, I went for the ube latte, but the ube flavor was just so faint and I would rather go to a local filipino bakery to get the same thing for half the price. They also have very limited milk options, no 2% or skim, which is surprising for a specialty coffee shop. The shop itself is aesthetically pleasing and a nice spot to sit for a while, the drinks don't justify the premium pricing. I have been coming here ever since the roastery has opened. This is my go to spot when I need to study and need a caffeinated beverage. For this visit, I ordered the strawberry matcha and the egg sandwich with smoked salmon. My friend ordered the Kyoto cold brew. The egg sandwich was really filling and the eggs were really fluffy with cheese inside. The green sauce they spread on the brioche buns was really flavorful and gave the sandwich more flavor. The strawberry matcha has more of a stronger strawberry taste, I think the matcha could be stronger but overall it wasn't too bad. My friend got the Kyoto Cold Brew and she said it was really strong but good. They gave her a side of milk but they recommended to have it black. If you are a huge coffee lover and like strong coffee, the Kyoto is the way to go. The baristas were really nice and the wait time wasn't too long. This coffee shop gives off a very modern and casual vibe that definitely draws attention in Elmhurst. read more
