Upon entering, I noticed the restaurant had a big fire roaring in their large fireplace and hearth. This made the place very warm and inviting. It turns out the place had two very large roaring fires going on two chimneys! We ask the waitress Nicole if she could seat us next to one of the fireplaces, and she did! She sat us right in front of one of them. Upon seeing the menu, I chose the Canadian bacon omelet, my sister order the Elmer omelet, my brother the 8 oz steak n eggs and his wife the potato pancakes. My omelet was especially tasty due to the hollandaise sauce and the Canadian bacon was cooked just right and the veggies were very fresh. Everyone agreed that their breakfast were very hearty and delicious. Apparently it seems that Elmer's is a local breakfast food chain here in central Oregon. Our waitress Nicole was very nice, cordial and quick with the coffee and refills. I will definitely be eating at Elmer's every time I come to central Oregon. read more

We took my 87 year old mother in-law to her favorite restaurant for lunch today. The food was good (I had a 1/2 sandwich and soup) and the service couldn't have been better. My mother in-law thoroughly enjoyed the outing. We were pleased at how accommodation they were to an old woman with a walker! Yes, I died and went to HEAVEN. My husband came here before for his Crabacado Omelet. He brought me here and I got the Dungeness Crab Benedict. And we shared the two dishes! They were fabulous!!! Both included the smokehouse bacon! Both had big chunks of dungeness crab! My crab Benedict was PERFECT. The egg was poached the way it's supposed to be! The sauce was YUM! I can't call it simply delicious because Benedicts are complicated... but it was SO delicious. I kinda felt bad that I had to share it with my husband. :-). But then again, he shared his Crabacado with me! The eggs were still fluffy and also stuffed liberally with fresh crab and avocado... but the bacon took it over the top!!! I've been here a couple of times now and always found the staff to exceed my expectations. I'd say most of the food is above par, but some of it is worse than what you'd find at McDonalds or out of your local frozen food aisle. In all, it's a great place for you to come for breakfast. Some of the best breakfast I have ever had! I ordered the crab and eggs benedict. It was one of the more expensive items at just over $10. It was SO much food! An english muffin (both halves), with crab, perfectly poached eggs, and sauce on top. It also had has browns on the side. It was simply amazing and perfect. My guest ordered the prime rib dip ( you can order both breakfast and lunch anytime). He really enjoyed it, and it was juicy and flavorful. Our server was the highlight to this trip! The coffee was burned and sugar didn't help. After waiting for an hour, watching folks be served that arrived after us, as we got up to leave our food came out of the kitchen. We should have refused to accept it. Our order was obviously lost and they rushed the order out to us. The hollandaise sauce is from a dry mix and the eggs were cooked hard. The hashed browns were from a dehydrated potato that hadn't been soaked long enough. The pancakes were ok but also from a mix. The link sausage was served with a grey color instead of a nice cooked brown color. This disgusting meal cost us $26. read more

Came here for breakfast with the family, 4 of us. A little wait but absolutely no problem. Got seated and brought us drinks right away. Our server came shortly after and we placed our order. I ordered the spring benadict with the works on my hash browns. All of my food was cold. The mushrooms and spinach were not cooked at all(maybe that is their intention) but the hash browns them self were cold. My eggs were cold, the hollandaise was cold. Totally bummed out. I told the server I wouldn't eat any of it because it was cold and I asked her to to take it off the bill. She did ask if I would like something else witch was nice of her but I did not want to wait. As nice as it is for her to offer another plate I rated 2 stars because it is hard to imagine them serving cold food as busy as the restaurant is. Please make sure your kitchen staff does better than this in the future. read more

My husband and I used to go often to Elmer's because the food was decent, predictable, and we could feed our family of six for not-too-much. Something changed in recent past, and they aren't as good as they used to be. I would normally excuse the disappointing meals with "oh, they're just having a super busy day today" or something similar, but after several not-so-awesome meals I guess it's their new normal. Breakfast this morning was but one example. I ordered their "Looking for the Sun" omelette, supposed to be filled with bacon, cheese, salsa and green onion. Served with hash browns and a biscuit. We also ordered coffee. When the meals were delivered, they looked nice on the plate, but my serving of hash browns was very small, smaller than I'm accustomed to getting, and a lot smaller than the serving on my husband's plate. The egg in my omelette was very flat, dry, and rubbery. An omelette should feature fluffy, soft eggs. An omelette should be well-filled, this one had plenty of bacon but I opened it and took it apart and could not find much evidence of cheese or salsa. I've had this dish before, it used to come with generous slices of avocado and a nice dollop of sour cream. This one had about a teaspoon worth of sour cream, and one thin slice of avocado. For a $10 meal, I expect a little better than I got. I can go to Denny's and do better, and that's not saying much. Our server did not come back to check on us, ask us how our food was, nor did she refill our coffee after she had delivered our food. She walked by our table many times, it took her a while to get our check. Not very attentive at all. With not many choices in town for a good breakfast, my list is now one smaller. Very nice, cheery decor. Very friendly staff, excellent, quick service. Breakfast servings are huge and well cooked and a good variety. Plenty of food, no need for lunch afterwards! I had the Saturday Market platter. Meat, veggies, cheesy eggs and potatoes galore. Biscuits fresh and flaky. German pancakes are airy and sweet. Even eggs and bacon come on a big plate. In over three years of eating at Elmer's regularly, I cannot remember one instance of poor service. The menu offers a range of options, from vegetarian to serious carnivore. Went to this restaurant for breakfast before heading to Bend.We waited for 40 minutes and still no sign of our breakfast...The waitress was really nice and told us they had to make a new batch of potato cake mixture but we finally just left we were tired of waiting and had a schedule to keep.We watched several tables order eat and leave while we were still waiting....must be a very poorly managed kitchen crew. After giving this place a low rating they sent us a certificate for two meals so we went back last week for breakfast.And I am happy to say the service was excellent and the breakfast was done perfectly.So I would raise my star level to 4 stars. read more
